  • TYA for the Gold

The plan was for ~6 mile jaunt along the access road. Somehow, that turned into 9 miles. PAX went every which way on Belle Isle, crossed T-Pot in the thunderstorm, and came back Riverside.

It was great to have Lola back out, with his new ride. Mumblechatter was solid – we couldn’t have fit it all in with just 6 miles.

At the end TYA pulled ahead of the PAX and left them in the dust. Not sure what that other backblast is about…. Perhaps it was a birthday boost.

  • What Did You Have to Do to Get the Nod to Come Out?

3 regulars secured the AO-K for a Sunday Funday, afternoon edition, run to celebrate TYA’s 58th birthday. Temps were (actually) sunny and 70 (or perhaps a little higher). According to the FSB agents posing as dog walkers, here was our route, more or less:

Hepler, Paris, Forest, University, Glendale to Ridge (left), then Ridge to Zion Town, University, and Ralston. Left on Rose Hill. Kingston, Gaymont, University, cross Ridge, and continue on University. Left on Wood to Lakewood, right on Wood, and left on Beechwood, to West Drive Circle to Lindsay and BTT VSF.

    Announcements: nada.

NMS: Candidly, it was not our best run. Miserable. Never good. Only got worse. Perhaps an unconscious ode to TYA’s slow pace, you know, the glacial one. Perhaps it was the humidity, which was downright summer-like. That’s 4.5 miles in the books. Good chatter and good company. Lots of training to go to be ready for BRR.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • Mini-convergence at GridIron?

The Spring weather brought out a whopping 18 men (1 of whom was a FNG) this morning and many questioned if we were having a convergence. After a brief warm-up we moseyed over to Burpee Hill for, you guessed it, our first exercise 10 mins of burpees. Fortunately the Pax didn’t revolt so we moseyed to chin-up bars for a modified 11’s of pull-ups and step-ups (just did odd numbers after that first exercise of 10 mins of burpees).

Striker Park’s soft, comfortable, dry, turf field was in use so we moseyed to the wet, muddy, smelly Grid Iron for an all ab workout delivered in the format of a Beast (36 WW II’s, 36 LBCs, 36 Heels to Heaven, 36 Flutter Kicks, 36 Side Crunches, and 36 American Hammers. Finished off with a Triple Check (Balls to the Wall, more WW II’s, and a mosey around the loop). As we circled up before numberama, we were able to squeeze in just a handful more burpees because…why not?

Great day with the Pax. Good to see long lost brothers like Feather, who posted after a year plus, and brought out FNG (Nathan Jr).

    MOLESKIN

YHC came up with this lil thing last fall.  The PAX of First Watch love-hate it so much, seemed only appropriate to share with the rest of the PAX.  Great as always to have Guinness from out of town.  Handshake dropped numerous four-letter words when he saw the old Green Pill board awaiting the PAX upon arrival at the Triangle.  Music to YHC’s ears.  Phonics set the pace, only slowed down slightly by Block Thrusters.  Mr. Rogers was right on his heels.  Police made an appearance when they heard someone was doling out pills.  Perhaps they came to chase off the predators lying in wait.  YHC saw the white van, but didn’t see the driver of the car, though UpChuck says their appearance would certainly lead one to believe you’d find them on a particular registry.  Maybe someone reported the unidentified flying object.  YHC suspects that was a group we shall call Meal Cream trying to steal the Green Pill and charge fifty bucks a pop for it.
