Twelve stallions trampled the lure of the Fart Sack and reported to the paddock for this week’s version of the Hoedown. Temperatures were a seasonably pleasant sunny and 70 at F3RVA’s darkest AO. According to the inscription on the TES Boulder, this is what happened:

Mosey to the Third Church parking lot for the COP:

    SSHs
    5 burpees
    Russian Soldiers
    Imperial Walkers
    Dead Man Hang
    Scorpion Kicks
    5 HRMs
    WWI sit-ups

Mosey to the Teacher’s Parking Lot for MLKs:

    Monkey Humpers (x15)
    Little Baby Crunches (x10)
    Kraken Burpees (x5)
    Run the Loop, clockwise.

    5 Box Cutters
    Run the loop, again, clockwise.
Repeato 3x, but increase reps x2 on Round 2 and x3 on Round 3.

Mosey to the Blacktop for Sergei Mangote:

    Bear crawl across blacktop
Perform 10 mountain climber merkins (3 mountain climbers followed by a hand release merkin). Q called 20 originally, then sanity prevailed and Q modified.
    Repeato 3x.

Mosey to the Corner for Florida Abs:

Pick 3 PAX members. Have them share their favorite ab exercises. Last Call chose LBCs. Garbage Plate chose V-ups. Honey Do chose heels-to-Heaven.

Start with 20 of the 1st exercise. Then, run halfway down the blacktop and do 20 of the 2nd exercise. Run the remainder of the blacktop and do 20 of the 3rd exercise at the end. Bear crawl across the width of the blacktop, and repeat the cycle on the opposite side of the blacktop. Continue the cycle until time is called. Handshake and Bodo’s made it through about 1.5 loops.

    Mosey back to the VSF

Number-am-a, Name-a-ram-a, YHC took us out.

    NMS:

Today the country celebrates Martin Luther King’s Birthday. YHC thinks this is great. YHC also has never understood why this country celebrates every famous person’s birthday on a Monday or a Friday. YHC thinks this is a little nutty. However, it is perhaps no less nutty than the tradition of mixing flour, butter, eggs, and sugar in a pan, cooking it, lighting it on fire, and then singing. Birthdays are strange.

    Welcome back to Honey Do.

Let’s hope for a peaceful week for our country. YHC confesses – he is done with crazy people pushing nonsense. 2021 is a year for intelligent people to lead through persuasion, reason, and kindness. YHC challenges every member of F3RVA to commit themselves to leading by setting a positive example.

  • Way Off The Books

YHC arrived at the pre determined Sunday time and place for the weekly south side Off The Books run/walk. Upon launch time YHC was the only runner, and no walkers were observed. Thankfully YHC had a route planned, which when executed resulted in just over 6 miles. Post run coffee was delicious. See y’all in the gloom!

  • Is this a trail?

3 men and 2 canine’s set out on a hike this morning. Satan’s hill was the launch point on this chilly morning. 62 minutes on the clock and 3.2 miles earned (the brush slowed down the PAX. Hermie had heard there was a trail connecting the new section and our hood so we set out to find it. Find it we did along with spirited mumble chatter. Have an awesome day gentlemen.

  • Dark Day start @ DaPile

5 men showed up this morning for an hour beatdown breakfast here is how it went down.

    Run Warm up

Bulkhead and Spit met at the Rutland Clubhouse and ran the Bojangles loop then over the train tracks into Giles subdivision for the 1 mile loop finishing at the Atlee HS parking lot for the 6:30am start time. They also ran back to the Clubhouse after COT at the flag.

YHC showed up to the AO planted the Shovel flag and we moseyed to the East side Entrance to the School for COP.

    COP

    We performed 20 SSH, 10 DQ, 10 Imperial Walkers, 10 Russian Soldiers, 10 helicopters, 10 2ct American Hammers, 10 LBC’s 10 reverse scorpions, 10 scorpions, 20 merkins.

    THANG

So we mosey to the base of the Atlee train bridge hill and start our Carpenter Dora as we had 5 we broke up into one group of 2 and a group of 3. Group 1(G1) ran to intersection at top of hill and back as the timer and G2 performed the Exercise. The highest count of the exercise was how we traded off for the next group to pick up the count. We performed 100 merkins, 200 WW2 sit ups and 300 SSH.

It is still very dark so we mosey to the lighted parking lot across the street(Atlee Campus has no lights on the weekend) and it has 6 trees that are perfect for ‘touch a tree’ triple check Dora. So the exercises were 100 sit ups, 200 lunges and 300 squats. The Timer was the touch a tree, similar to the above we had a different groups of 2 and 3 and we flap jacked exercises and touch a tree until all reps were completed.

Lighter outside now so we mosey to the front of Atlee HS and do a triple check of Donkey kicks and Lunges to the side walk and back(as the timer) for the first two rotations then performed a Bernie Saunders as the timer for the last rep.

We then mosey to flag for some Mary to cool down stretching for 4 minutes.

    COT

Namerama and Numberama and Pavarotti took us out in prayer.

    Moleskin

We continue to discuss staying safe during the Pandemic as infections continue to rise. We also discussed reaching out to some F3 brothers that we have not seen in awhile.

It was an honor to lead this morning….Cheers…CB

    YHC took us out

YHC apologizes for his lateness yesterday — set alarm for a Daville workout which made YHC late. Usually when we do a Horseshoe, we have a big loop to run for a lap. Our loop is much smaller at the Creek so YHC decided it would be a good idea to slow the loop down a little bit, which might have worked if YHC hadn’t been late and had a shorter COP. Oh well, live and learn. Will be bringing this back to the Creek if the future to tighten it up a little bit.

  • Wellington Whittaker Wynmoor

Six Stallions gathered for a cool morning run on a cross neighborhood route named after a law firm. Greenbow took us out.

Route – S on Pump, Wellington, Weather Vane, Tunbridge, Gayton, JRP, Glen Eagles, Old Prescott. More or less.

NMS- parts of the West end can feel like you’re in a rabbit warren. The neighborhoods around Gayton are key examples (looking at you Wellington and the back 9 of Kingsley). They feature just enough turns to head you in different directions so that you question which way you’re looking and thus it’s tough to make a decision to go left or right – then you try something only to find a dead end. YHC has maps but the pax want to learn the back roads on their own, as good navigators would and so we are resigned that familiarization takes a bit of time. That’s ok because it’s the only way to get your bearings and overcome second guesses. Also it doesn’t help that some of the maps – the ios maps for example – make it look like roads connect when they don’t. Maybe they did at one time, but concerned neighbors wanted to reduce traffic and here we are. At any rate, it provides for adventure on the par that @Bodo’s would accept, but we likely need to find things to climb over to get him out. The Q slots are open, there’s nothing like planning routes to help you get your bearings.

NB One challenge, some of our early morning driving neighbors get freaked out by runners on the streets, so the TTP is to plan routes attempting to minimize time on any street without a sidewalk. That strange incident on the Ridgefield X weeks back is seared in our memory.

    Currahee!

  • The Zoolander

A very Lucky 13 runners and several bikers ( a few recorded here – if I missed you, let me know) launched on a nice jaunt through the neighborhood.

West on Grove. 4s turn right on Libbie and 5s turn right on the access road and right on St Chris. Everyone turns right on Patterson, right on Malvern, and right on Grove.

Wedding Singer reminded me that Zoolander only turns right, hence the name.

    YHC took us out.
