Solid work from the PAX today.  It was spectacular to see Nightcrawler back in the fold with the Gridiron PAX.  Prayers for our brothers nursing injuries, Johnsonville, Fireman Ed and Gypsy just to name a few.  Belated HBD to our brother Blue Moon.  He still kicks YHC tail at 52.  By the way, the Q was lagging behind these noble warrior today.  That is the way it should be.

Continued prayers for our country and for healing and unity.  God is good all of the time!

  • Churchill or Chamberlain?

Tyranny is our foe. Whatever trapping or disguise it wears, whatever language it speaks, be it external or internal, we must for ever be on our guard, ever mobilized, ever vigilant, always ready to spring at its throat.

In all this we march together. Not only do we march and strive shoulder to shoulder at this moment, under the fire of the enemy on the fields of war or in the air, but also in those realms of thought which are consecrated to the rights and the dignity of man.“-Winston S. Churchill

17 Warriors for freedom, peace and prosperity by way of voluntary cooperation arose to greet the dawn of a new day and defend the island. The white flags were burned long ago and surrender was removed from the vernacular. There would be no appeasing of tyrants and according to legend it went a little something like this.

Mosey over the grass circle for COP

IC X 20; SSH, IW, Lunge, HRM, WWII. Arm circle X 1

Mosey to the coupon depot and on to the valley of doubt.

    FIVER

Five rounds of the following; squat press on one side, run to other side and complete five burpees.

    FARMER CARRY

Partner up for a big boy version of Catch Me If You Can. One partner grabs both coupons and begins moving down the valley, up the other side, up the hill and on to the circle. The other partner completes 3 Polar Bears and runs to catch his partner, then switcheroo.

    TRIPLE CHECK

Exercies are American Hammer with coupon and 6 inches. The timer is the man completing 20 Super Merkins. This is a merkin with both blocks on the ground and your hands on each, completing a merkin with a much bigger range of motion.

    FOUR CORNERS

Mosey to field with coupon. Complete 4 burpee ups with blocks at each corner. Return coupons at completion.

    HOUSE OF PAIN

Mosey to amphitheater and start at the bottom. Complete a box jump per the number of steps. 1 on first row, 2 on second row, etc.

    BURPEE SHUFFLE

Mosey to circle for one last bit of fun.

Namerama, numberama, Probation led us out.

Prayer Requests: Keep Swirly’s M in your prayers this week and send him a word of encouragement. You know he’s done it for you.

FNG: Welcome Schwing. This is an official upgrade as Hobby Lobby, Shot Gun and Fozzy Bear were in the running for the names. He is Shiplap’s step brother. There was some connection to Aldi (either the store or the town in northern Virginia). Aldi the store was also started by brothers who had a falling our with the older brother Dieter apparently being a real jerk. Dieter was a character played by Mike Meyers and the closest thing he had to a brother on SNL was Garth. When Wayne and Garth got boners at the same time they said “Schwing“.

Moleskin: YHC has done lots of reflecting, thinking, praying and researching over the past nine months. It’s a really wild time and I’m particularly interested to think about how history will remember these past nine months and the decisions we have made and what we have allowed to be made for us. The video that opens the post is from a Winston Churchill speech he gave warning the Americans about the dangers of appeasing tyrants. It’s hard to truly understand through a modern lens how much of a pariah he was at the time for this belief. The world was still reeling from the first World War and understandably there was little appetite for a principled stand. This was recorded about one month after the Munich Pact was signed.

The Munich Pact was an agreement that Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain thought would prevent a full on war. The agreement was that Germany could have some German speaking parts of Czechoslovakia and this little bit of concession would be enough to stop the totalitarian behavior of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party or Nazis for short. The Nazis had committed atrocities through the 1930s and they never once honored any agreement or pact. Chamberlain was sure that by appeasing them he could prevent a war and lots of smart people agreed with him. They were sure if they sacrificed just a little, they would get a desired outcome.

Churchill stood nearly alone in his resoluteness that appeasing tyrants would only accelerate their abuse. He was steadfast in his belief that the best way to protect his people was by defending their freedom at all costs. Nine months after the Munich Pact was signed, the Germans invaded Poland just as Churchill predicted.

Doing what was easy instead of what was right cost millions of lives and altered the trajectory for an entire nation of people. I wonder how many people initially supported Chamberlain who had a change of heart, but were too afraid to admit a mistake in their strategy. History paints a picture that as the situation with the Nazis worsened, there were many Brits intent on defending their decision rather than their island, much to their detriment.

Winston was far from perfect, but he will go down as one of the most principled and courageous men the world ever produced. May we all be so courageous to identify and defend the things we believe in at all costs with clarity, purpose and conviction.

If you aren’t clear in what you stand for and where your morals are, then some one will do it for you.

HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED?

Never give up. Dig a little deeper and get it all out.

    Your pal,

    Hardywood

Great 2F time at the Local Cup afterwards

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • How much oil do you need to get the job done?

    NMS

It seems resting YHC’s sore knee hasn’t made a difference, so have been trying to get back to F3 again, and given YHC’s pattern of not showing up on Friday’s, decided signing up for the Q would at least ensure an appearence. YHC is SO glad he made it, because from the COP on, mumblechatter was at a different level, in both a great and disturbing way. Much of it should not be put into print, suffice to say it started with the YMCA, a basement room with a single lightbulb, and being given a rigorous proctology exam….YHC was laughing so hard at times he was unable to exercise for lack of breath. Thanks for a great time this morning, gents, it was such great fun I didn’t notice my knee as much!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing…

  • Slow boat on the Brookmont

Three gentlemen left the comfort of the fartsack to venture into the cool morning air for a 5 brocode mile run. Handshake took us out.

NMS – We love this route because it is challenging at the right times after recovery from the last. Handshake likes how the twists and turns within DRP makes the time melt away For whatever reasons today we were more challenged – need some bad days to know what the good days feel like. Power through and get it done. Good work gents.

    Currahee!

  • 1st & 10

    COP

1st & 10 on Satan’s Hill. Picture Satan’s Hill as a football field (Halfway up being the 50 yard line). At the 10 yard line do 10 merkins & 1 burpee, sprint to the top and jog back down to the 20 yard line. Do 9 merkins & 2 burpees then sprint to the top and back down to the 30…..go up by 10 yards each time until you reach the top (finishing with 1 merkin and 10 burpees).

    Round 2

Going from the parking lot entrance down to the bottom of the hill, Same thing just starting with 1 ball dipper & 10 Squats, sprinting to the bottom and back to the 20 for 2 ball dippers & 9 squats….repeat until done

    Round of Mary

    No Tools took us out.

  • Our Days Are Numbered

Eight mighty men looked into the eye of mortality, and chose the hard way. While 27 degrees in the gloom would normally evict the cheer of men, these hearty souls radiated 70 and sunny, rays of light and love piercing the darkness. What follows outlines a reasonable method for submitting the flesh to supernatural remediation, a proven tactic for seizing the day:

    The THANG:

    COP #1:

    • Short mosey down the parking lot and circle up (keeping close for possible FNG’s)
    • Welcome & F3 Disclaimer
    • Rapid fire variable Warmerama IC

Mosey down and back a couple parking lanes, with variable caraoke, high knees, butt kickers, and closing with an uphill sprint to the school wall. Complete x10 reps of “Hoedowns” (seated in people’s chair, slap ankles then wall above head IC), then x10 Hip Slappers IC in BTTW position.

    COP #2:

    • Mosey down to Handicap Rails
    • Partner up to complete x3 sets of:
    • x10 Jerkins each
    • x10 Cliffhanger Merkins each
    • x10 Dips each
    • Lt Dans OYO for the SIX

    COP #3:

    • Mosey up to 2nd Lot Grassy Hill
    • TRIPLE NICKLE:
    • x5 Burpees at the Bottom
    • Bearcrawl to the top
    • x5 Heels-to-Heaven
    • Run back down
    • x5 Rounds total

    COP #4:

    • Mosey to Amphitheater for a DORA:

    • x100 WWII
    • x200 Squats
    • x300 SSH’s

Mosey BTTF for a few remaining minutes of stretching and Mary.

    COT:

    • Counterama # 8
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • YHC took us out in Prayer

    NMS:

    • The first Forge of 2021 followed in the path of expected Forge excellent and was well attended – special appreciation to Hardywood making the long track from God’s country, Draper accepting the headlock, and thanks to Fresh Prince to break from his all-night Call of Duty vigil, to give us an even 8 PAX, perfect for the planned partner routines. The rest of you were equally appreciated and special. The highlight of the morning (at least for YHC) was being entertained by a barrage of Hardywood’s repertoire of jokes. Ask him sometime about the Pickle Slicer – good stuff. Thanks for permitting me to lead gentlemen – let us decide to make EVERY DAY count. Get out there today and stealthily serve someone’s needs without being asked or expecting anything in return. SYITG, YHC, DTH
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:12 | Psalm 90 12, Psalms, Wisdom
  • Forearm Burner

Another cold morning.  KBs were stored indoors last night to mitigate the risk of frostbite.  Four noble warriors pushed their arms to the limit.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • Slaughter starter – 10 burpees
      • Invisible jump rope
      • Russian soldiers
      • Cherry pickers
      • Arm circles
      • Helicopters
      • APD
      • Merkins
      • LBC
    • Lucky Bus Loop – farmers carry to the four quadrants of the bus loop, perform 15 reps of a certain exercise, adding a new exercise for each quadrant, with a total of 8 at the end
      • Lawnmower pulls – each arm (8x)
      • Curls (7x)
      • Sit ‘n presses (6x)
      • KB swings (5x)
      • Sumo squats (4x)
      • Halos (3x)
      • High pulls (2x)
      • American hammers
    • COT with YHC taking us out

The bus loop tour is deceptive.  Start soft, but the finish after being under weight for ½ hour is brutal.  YHC forearms were burning at the end.

Today was a great time for fellowship, plenty of mumble-chatter.  Great picture of F3.  In light of the events yesterday, good to have some laughs and smiles.  Good to share life.  The PAX prayed for healing in our nation as a part of COT.  Politics aside, time to heal; time to work together.

God is good all of the time!
