Thanks for coming out guys and great work. Yes, I was planning on keeping the coupons until the end but I thought my hands were going to freeze and break off. Major audible had to be called.

No over-sharing this morning from the group, just hard work and determination. Well done!

    Merry Christmas, all!!

    SYITG!

  • Hardcore

Three Titans gathered on a crisp clear morning to see what would be in store prior to the holidays.

    Thang

Run to Einstein’s parking lot. Triple check: WWIIs and squats.

Run to Short pump Park. Triple check LBC’s and swing crunches.

Run to West broad village East parking deck. Triple check Freddie Mercury’s and decline merkins or shoulder taps.

    3.25 miles. 1.25 pre run.

    BTTF. Probation took us out.

    NMS

After a quick warm up and gear check we got on the way. Quiet clear morning with frost on the ground. Not too many people around until we got over to WBV. Lighthouse remarked at how much traffic there was – it’s no wonder, we were on the ACAC gym backyard. Several comments from the passers buy about working out outside in the cold including one kind lady who said “yall are hardcore”. Yes ma’am, we are.

    Get some!

  • We’ll call it Bro-ga until we come up with something better.

3 early risers graced the courts of Huegenot Park for the first round of Broga, aka Yoga for Bros. Doozy and Last Call joined YHC for a little stretch and weird poses. We stretched, we bent, we leaned and groaned and as far as I know, nothing popped and we’re better for it. We all could use a little more stretching in our lives so encourage all to attend in the future.

For future Broga sessions, the location will be announced ahead of time but will likely continue with No Toll. Future attendees are encouraged to bring a towel and we might put a cap on the temperature (no session when the temp is below 40) but we’ll see. For now, bring a towel and open mind to the next session. Look forward to seeing you out there.

  • A DTH Christmas Story

A seasonally beautiful morning welcomed 14 holiday spirited gloom warriors to NoToll for the 1st Annual DTH Christmas Story reenactment. Here’s how the PAX celebrated Christ’s birth:

    COT:

    • Counterama # 14
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • YHC took us out in Prayer

    NMS:

Yes Rosie and Tobit, YHC is joining the ranks of yearly festive Q’s, and no (to whomever cares), YHC is not splitting the PAX in groups of less than 10, now or ever. Highlight of the morning was the lyrics of Rage Against the Machine chiming in to blend with the efforts of a few PAX singing Drummer Boy while lunging across the field. Twas beautimus. There was also the stark and entertaining juxtaposition of Doozy dropping a “F*ck You DTH” (as an effort to quote a movie), with Florence’s eloquent delivery of some Bible truths. As always, SOJ rocks, and YHC loved every bit of delivering the Christmas Story reenactment to the PAX. Already planning some entertaining updates for next year. SYITG, YHC, DTH

  • A smelly hot potato

6 studs swore off the fartsack to post for a Hot Potato Q at HBR. We did:

Honeydo: COP at end of track: SSH, Don Qs (modified Cherry Quixotes), Russian Soldiers, Merkins, & LBCs. Mosey to coupon repository for a block then onto the field. Dora 123 of: 100 Squats, 200 Bench Presses, 300 Block Swings (audible to 200 for time) while runner does width of field & back.

Pinto Q: Murder Bunny half of field, run the rest to fence, then run back to block & Murder bunny back to fence. 10 Burpees. Repeato 2nd time with 15 Burpees at the end. This was NOT fun.

Handshake Q: Gorilla Shimmie (?) with block to halfway then Bear Crawl to fence. Same way back.

Atilla Q: Jack Webbs up to 10 then 5 rounds of Bernie up the small hill. Back to flag for Reverse cruches & America Hammers. Atilla took us out.

NMS: Lots of flatulence in the gloom this morning, but not by any one PAX. All equal opportunity stinkers except Bacon Bits. Handshake and Atilla made a testy pair on the Dora. Handshake’s feelings were still hurt from last week’s BB apparently.

YHC almost took the Q back when Pinto dropped the Murder Bunny & Burpee combo. The murder bunny has become quite popular after a month or so break after it’s first annual debut in the IPC in September.

Bacon Bits is officially 1 week away from Baby #2 arrival. He seems to be weighing posting at HBR next Tuesday, maybe a great chance to spring a VQ and then head to the delivery room. You’ll have ample time to write a solid BB while in the hospital.

Announcements: New Years Convergence at Satans Hill next Friday. Come for the 7:00 beatdown, stay for the parade of unnecessary golf carts at 8:00.

No telling what was discussed on the 4s and 6s routes, but the 5s focused on NCAA football and basketball at Tennessee, Virginia Tech, VCU, Bluefield College, Duke, Army, and UR.  Swirly has been breaking down film of all of the above.  When prompted for input on Yahoo hoops Bodos shamefully admitted he knows only that there is a team and that that jazz singer Tony Bennett is their coach.  Swirly assigned Bodos a homework assignment.  Presentation and diorama are due next Tuesday.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    NMS

Anvil was shut down temporarily at the start of the lockdown and this was the first day of its reopening. With Christmas being so close a themed workout seem to be warranted. There are few things that make YHC happier than hearing the PAX complain about how hard the workout is, your tears are like fine wine to him. YHC also realizes that his language has gotten a little rough in the last month or two, for that he apologizes and will try to do better.

As always it was an honor to lead

  • Engineering jokes and no sprints

The legal limit of 10 gathered for a Hoedown special to start the holiday week off right. Here’s how it went:

Warmup: Mosey to the bottom of Lindsey for 20xSSH, DMH, 8xDQ, 10xAC forward/back, 10xRussian Soldiers, 3 burpees OYO.

Partnered up to alternate run/bear crawl back out of Lindsey. Hitch joined us at the top somehow, Al Gore for the six then a tribute moment of Fudd’s wife to honor our guest from Colorado.

Mosey to the Tuckahoe wall for 5 minute drill round 1: partner up and alternate Donkey Kicks & Squats. DK’s are the timer and ascend by 2s 2,4,6,8…. for 5 minute running clock.

Head to the back field by way of a crawl bear up the covered walkway. Triple check in the gloom with rounds of wall sits, flutter kicks and 7 perfect pull ups. Several engineering jokes emerged. After the triple check we knocked out 400 WWII’s as a group and headed off for the slippery parking lot for round 2. Audible called to continue to the main lot.

Round 2 of the 5 min drill: ascending x2 HRM’s and Lt. Dans.

Mosey to the front lot for 3rd and final 5 min drill: ascending (x1) Burpees and crunches.

Head back to the flag, numberama, namerama, announcements (no Currahee this Friday, Satan’s Hill New Years convergence) and YHC took us out. No animals were harmed and no sprints were run in the making of this ground and pound workout. Good to be out with such a fine crew; well done gents. Until next time, GP

  • No burpees, bear crawls, or donkey kicks???

Decided on my long .5 mile drive this morning that I would try to Q without doing any of my 3 go-to exercises (burpees, bear crawls, or donkey kicks).

    Warm Up

Did some rounds of Curls, Jerkins, Merkins, Planks, Shoulder Taps. Lots of Arm Circles and some running up Satan’s Hill. Plank jacks and more arm circles. And some other random stuff.

Ab work for the last 7 minutes.

    Strong work guys!
