  • SH&T SHOW

8 studs and one half asleep Q posted on a glorious morning in January

The Thang: a bunch of random, ill advised exercises that we poorly thought out, pitifully explained and at some times dangerous to the PAX. Exercises were completed in and around Mary Mumford, Windsor Farms, and sometime in the middle of Cary Street Road with traffic roaring by at 40+MPH.

You win some and you lose some. Today the Q was a big L for me. I was thinking after the workout what went well and what went wrong. The list of things that went wrong are far too long to capture here. Two things went right. We started on time and we ended on time. Between that it was a complete disaster. Had I been a PAX member and not the so called leader this morning, I would have mutinied. My only positive gift to the PAX today was that when they are in the throws of some self inflicted disaster later today, they can think back to the Q that I laid out there today and take comfort in the fact that whatever they screwed up was less of a mess than I made of the first 45 minutes of their dayI have the Q once again next week at Mary. You have my commitment that it will be a whole hell of a lot better than today (honestly, that’s not really much of a promise, but its all I have right now.).

  • Frozen Block Party of 4

4 Sharp Dressed Men and 1 furry companion emerged from the warmth to battle the frozen conditions of The Forge to make themselves better men. The cold was bitter but the comradery and conversation was hot. This is how things went down

Party of 3 (and Cooper) took the slow Mosey around the bus loop looking for any late arrivals and to warm the bones ending at the flag poles for Warmarama.

COP 1 included SSH’s, Helicopters, Deadman Hang, 1 legged merkins, Arm Circles. Limbs toasty, lets mosey

Mosey to the middle parking lot for Lindsay of Hand Release Merkins and WWII’s. Audible was called after 2nd round to Merkins after mumble chatter from PAX. YHC was happy to oblige. Fresh Prince joined in making a quartet. Al Gore for the 6.

Mosey down the stairs for AMRAP circle with blocks. 7 stations set up including chest press with block, squats with block, rows with block, shoulder press with block, peoples chair & dips. Timer was the lap around lower parking lot. 3 sets of each exercise with additional running as required.

PAX carried blocks back to the pile followed by a sprint BTTF.

Numbers, Names & Announcements. YHC took us out.

NMS: Cold morning the culprit in reduced numbers but the faithful arrived. HR Merkins are brutal after 10. DTH commented Merkin Challenge was over and YHC happily audibled to avoid a mutiny. Great block work and conversation during the AMRAP. Fresh Prince reminisced on IronPax Wheel of Despair Challenge. Snuff and YHC still recovering form Murder Bunnies. Appreciate the help in bringing the blocks back to the pile.

Not in the Holiday Spirit? Rosie’s 12 Days of Christmas at No Toll on Tuesday will put you in the Jingle Mood.

HDHH – Wednesday at Hardywood West Creek – Check Slack for details.

  • Rutland For The Win

8 Davillians got out for a Thursday run. Temps were below freezing but F3RVA app showed 70 and sunny

Route – Rutland Loop minus Knollwood with a full loop around Cool Spring Forest West and wrap up with the Bojangles loop for 4.5 miles.

Had two groups of runs the sub 8 crew and the rest of the PAX.

Mumble chatter seems to focus around the Governor’s upcoming press conference today, COVID vaccine, and make this Thursday run an official AO.

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • It’s About Time!

Another beautiful and hot morning to start off the first of many solo Q’s for Shiplap. Have co-led some hot potatoes and with the wedding, marathon, and Thanksgiving now done, it was about time I stepped up and lead these great group of men solo. And no better time than at W Dog, one of my favorite AOs. Pulling in, it was nice to see more than the usual number of cars anxiously waiting to get rolling. Here’s how it went down:

    Helicopters x10

    Arm Circles x10

    Reverse Arm Circles x10

    Round 2: LBCs

    Round 3: Burpee Pull Ups

Was planning on doing this cycle twice, but AUDIBLE!! Had to make sure we get all the “FUN” in!

Mosey to the Stage for some HOLIDAY COUPONS! (Pretty sure Vandelay had the best coupon)

Partner 1 Runs with the Coupon and Touch 5 Trees, while Partner 2 completes the following until they return and switch:

    Round 1: Coupon Bench Press

Round 2: Coupon Curls to Shoulder Press

    1st Exercise: WWIIs

    2nd Exercise: LBCs

    3rd: Flutter Kicks

    4th: Carolina Dry Docks

    5th: Hand Release Merkins

    6th: Freddy Mercury’s

    7th: Alabama Prom Dates

We could not make it all the way through with the clock not on our side, but with the help of Bodo’s wisdom halfway through we audibled to just run half the field and back. Appreciate it Bodos!

Back to the Flag, for Number-am-a, Name-a-rama, and YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

Nothing was mentioned this morning but I understand there is a Hump Day Happy Hour at Hardywood West Creek 12/1 at 6pm.

    NMS:

Thank you guys, for letting me lead you all this morning! It felt great and hope the upper body is sore tomorrow because then I did my job! It was great to have some new faces at W Dog with Last Time and Swipe Right! This was Swipe Right’s first boot camp and crushed it. I have been able to be part of a lot of amazing Q’s and was able to lead with the direction I have experienced through them, so thank you all!

  • Sabbath for 3rd F

Six script studies tackled our bi-weekly 3rd F Zoom call with only minor tech issues. Topic was the concept of Sabbath, in both the old & new testament. Lot of focus on 2020, with all the isolation and chaos being similar to a Sabbath year to refocus and renew with yourself and family.

NMS: Gypsy worked in a good Old Testament stoning verse, so par for the course. Good group and good discussion as always. Apologies for the Q’s spotty reception.

Next 3rd F is 12/22. Who will bring home the meaning of Christmas for this Q?

  • We Have the Antibodies

10 shook off the Lure of the warm, cozy Fart Sack in favor of a socially-distanced, Hot Potato, First Watch Beat Down. Temps were, once again, Sunny and 70. According to the Dog Walker cutting straight through The Gloom, the Parking Lot, and the Beat Down, the following Likely Happened:

UpChuck Q – Mosey to the River Road Baptist Main Parking lot for The COP (n. singular. def. Circle of Pain. A set of stretches to start the Beat Down. It has Two Components. a) a Circle, and 2) Pain, usu. from Stretching (#stretching). Example: Today the COP was a beautiful COP, lotta people said it was the Best COP, the most Fabulous COP, but still the One-and-Only COP, unless the PAX Circles-Up later (read on to #FindOut), but otherwise, the other Stuff is not a COP, unless Her Car has Lights, and She yells at HoneyDo & Co to “get out of The Road,” and then that is a Lady Cop, which is an Honorable, yet Different, Thing):

    Side-Straddle Hops (SSHs)
    Hillbillies (with flair) (HBwF)
    Dead Man Hang (DMH)
    Jazzercises (Js)
    Helicopters (Hs)
    Little Baby Crunches (LBCs)
    Freddy Mercurys (FMs)
    Hand-Release ‘merican Push Ups (HRMs)

eHarmony (VQ-ish) Q: Mosey to the Auxiliary River Road Baptist Church Lot for a Triple Check. One man at each end of the lot, third man goes in between as the timer.

1st Man: Lunge one standard American mile, swap with 2nd Man, who was doing Flutter Kicks, who then returns the One Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty Yards to the 3rd Man, who has been Holding Plank. Do this for 10 total cycles (not 10 each PAX, but ten total for the group). As this evolution was done in a linear pattern, this was not a COP, but a LOP (Line of Pain, at best). At worst, YHC’s quads burned like a California forest (i.e., started small, burn spread all over).

Kubota Q: Straight Outta Quarantine, Kubota led the PAX in calisthenic (no “s” on that word).

Side-Straddle Hop (singular) – Rep x1, yet #InCadence, which, ahem, sounded Winded.

Since this was done with the PAX in the F3RVA version of a circle, this was a COP.

Wojo Q: Two Workouts Out of Quarantine, Wojo led the PAX back to the RRBC Main Parking Lot, pausing for the obligatory Standard American Push-Up x1 (aka, Merkin) at each Speed Bump (Bump, not Hump). First Watch #Traditions.

Dora: 1st Man ran to the parked busses (or is that buses – YHC never remembers and refuses to educate himself on this point). 2nd man started grinding through 100 HRMs, 200 Monkey Humpers, and 300 Little Baby Crunches.

Since this was also not done in a circle, this was not a COP. Also, since YHCs legs started #FeelingIt, YHC also does not believe this was a LOP, but more of a EOP, or Ellipse of Pain.

Handshake Q: Triple Check. 1st Man: Run to parked buses/busses (see above), 2nd Man: World War II Sit-ups (WWIIs), 3rd Man: Something Handshake called an “Iron Chair.” YHC thinks Handshake was having an 80s Flashback to Nicholai Volkoff and the Iron Sheik throwing a chair at Hulk Hogan. In lieu of understanding, the PAX did a People’s Chair. Regardless, not a COP.

UpChuck Q: Wait momentarily for The Six.

Handshake Attempted to Overturn the Q and issued a call of Side-Straddle Hops. But as Handshake lacked the Ghost Flag, the actual Q called a False Q. The PAX waited Patiently and only Momentarily, in a Circle, for The Six, which is our Custom.

    UpChuck Q: Side-Straddle Hops. x5. This was a COP.

Mosey to the Auxiliary Parking Lot, stopping for a Special Request for World War II Sit-Ups at the scene of a prior Q. The PAX completed 5, more or less in a circle. This may have qualified as a COP.

Circle of Trust (COT): Number-am-a, Name-a-ram-a, Handshake took us out. This was a COT, not a COP, because, while the PAX was in a Circle, no Pain was shared, but rather only Thoughts, Banter, Pleasantries, and Best Wishes for a fine Week.

    Announcements (Announcements):

At 6:00 p.m. (18:00 hours) on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, a group of F3RVA men are invited to assemble for a Hump Day (or is that Humpday?) Happy Hour including one or more malted adult beverages of their choice (or an alternative beverage of their choice) at the West Creek location of the Hardywood Brewing Company. PAX are also welcome to visit other locations, albeit without an expectation of Brotherhood.

10 Year F3 Anniversary has been Postponed. The Anniversary will Still Happen on January 1, 2021. The Global, albeit perhaps not Harmonic, Convergence is now scheduled for October, 2021. Cape Fear, NC, hosting. DeNiro has the Q. M’s welcome, but not Recommended.

    Naked Moleskin (NMS):

YHC finds it Awesome to have Kubota and Wojo back from Corona Quarantine, which apparently involves being Alone in the Guest Bedroom in one’s Homestead for 14 days (and, YHC learned today, does not involve actual Limes or Coronas). #learning #growing. All Kidding Aside (AKA), this is huge. Fantastic to see these guys. Wojo noted that the experience is Brutal. and YHC believes he speaks for every PAX when he says that it was a) very positive to have both guys out today, and 2) important to remind them to, in the words of Eric Cartman, “keep the f@#k back, six f@#king feet.” YHC apologizes to Bodo’s for Modeling Poor Language (MPL).

YHC was inspired by eHarmony’s VQ today. Mr. Harmony has equal Burn in his Qs as in his Compliments. #TSSSS #FeartheLunge. #Solid. #FullVQComingSoon.

YHC, after 4.5 years of Brotherhood in F3, is Learning the Power of Leadership through Capitalization. Emphatic. Compelling. Bigger. #Shift+ #CapitalizationasLeadershipTool

    UpChuck Spits the Bit.
