  • Mr. Do No Right

With 2 newish regulars added to the mix, First Watch numbers remain consistent despite some of the original Redwoods’ absences.

    MOLESKIN

YHC’s typed exercise list generated some snickers from the PAX, but after a few rounds the routine proved no laughing matter.  Groans, moans, grunts, farts, and many other intimate UpChuck sounds say this workout was a smoker.  No one was able to finish, a slightly briefer COP next time will put the PAX right on time.  No official OSOTW award, however Handshake did recently enjoy the same cinema classic as Mr. and Mrs. Bone Thugs.  Praise that UpChuck’s MIL is doing pretty well, despite what she’d say about his FIL.  Great job by the youth movement and Last Call was never more than a few steps behind the lead PAX.  Solid 2nd F coffeteria with UpChuck and Handshake centered around ring tones, publications, and toll roads.  You had to be there.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Convergence at Mary Munford Thanksgiving – 6am

CSAUP Forest Hill Loops Black Friday – 7am, 8am, 9am, whenever you want to join

  • Three’s company

Well actually 6? YHC hit the snooze and was coming in hot. YHC found 6 warriors ready for the challenge of what the day would bring. 3 in the runners club and 3 in the beat down club. Tobit inquired with YHC if he wanted to run to which response was “ I will catch you all later and turned to leave”. Moments later made the same inquisition of DK to which DK responded with a face that showed years of pain. According to the rucksacker who passed near by with what appeared to be 60 lbs strapped on here is what went down.

Mosey to front bus lot for COP: 20 SSH’s, 10 each: DQ’s, IW’s, Russian soldiers, Cherry pickers, dead man hang, helicopter, Merkins, LBS’s. All counts are estimated as the mumble chatter took over the count.

Thang 1: Parking lot tracers with exercises on bottom and top of the line. 1-10. 1 Burpees, 2 dozen LBC’s, 3 dozen Merkins, 4 dozen monkey humpers, 5 Squat jumps, 6 WWII’s, 7 ??, 8 Box cutters, 9 Deep lunge and 3×10 flutters, dollies, and Rosalita’s.

Thank 2 Mosey to door 1. YHC stays at door 1 and completes 20 merkins and 20 LBC’s, Wilson runs to door 5 and DK door 10 to complete same exercises. When YHC finishes he runs and bumps all forward for repeato of same exercises every 5 doors through 33.

Thang 3: Triple check Runner, dips, seated leg raises. Cut last round out to get back to flag. Runners joined for a close out of Flutters, Dollies, and Rosalita’s.

Prayers to Tobit’s GM and to aisle 5. Prayers to all PAX and families stay safe this holiday. Stay safe for those that attend TYA’s Thanksgiving history lesson! Thanks Rosie for perspective on this.

    YHC took us out.

  • 20 seconds early!

        WTH Perspectives

4 rose out of the fartsack to endure a 3 mile run plus bootcamp with insights, thanks, and sharing to start our thanksgiving season. It went something like this:

Mosey to big flag where we opened with an Imperial lunge talk about . Later renamed to Russian lunges. It was a Russian soldier with a lunge around the flag while each pax shared insights, perspectives and thanksgiving. This got the burn going in spirit and in legs. We then did Merkins in cadence to start the 3 mile run.

Next we ran half a mile into the Village where we did a series of sprints while holding-plank and performing mountain climbers, sprint 50% the alleys of the village, plank jacks sprint the alleys of the village, merkins sprint 100% the alleys of the village. We then transitioned into 4 Bernie sprints between the alleys of the village to include 25%, 50%, 75% and AYG at each end of the alley we did either 10 burpees, 20 WW2s, side straddle hops, and Freddie Mercuries. Next we went back to sprinting the Alleys of the village 50%, 75%, 100% to end at the backside of the village. We then did a nice YOG back to the track to work in some Suzanne Summers and one lap around the track with bear crawling the corners around the school and to the circle up around the flag to finish with a a Russian Prayer walk where we shared more insights, prayers, and thanksgiving. Recover!

The Q then took us out in prayer to recap our time together.

Someone said they are cold so we started 20 seconds early! Almost forgot name-a-Rama but DTH kept us in check. Much thanks for posting today!

  • Who Are You?

A four PAX reunited over Zoom for some 3rd F. Thankfully, none had used the notes that YHC posted for last time, because that was the basis for our discussion.

The Headline Analyzer says that “Big Gulp and Hot Fries” is a better headline than “Who Are You?”, but what does it know? Probably some algorithmic bias in the AI…

The 3rd F continues Tuesday, December 8th at 8pm. SYITG!

  • MAGNUM PI DAY – Bring out your Stache and your Hawaiian Shirt

Saturday, December 5, at Dogpile. Be there – sporting a stache or at least some 5 o’clock shadow, and a Hawaiian shirt. It is a day to honor man-hood and the great Tom Selleck – the one and only Magnum PI.

Stache-release merkins will be on the menu!

  • VQ Hills

COP: Mosey about 10 feet in the Atlee HS parking lot. SSHs / Merkins / LBCs / Don Quixotes / Arm Circles

Hell on a Hill: Mosey on a little fieldtrip to the corner of Atlee and Atlee Station. 20 minute AMRAP up and down a 35ish degree hill. 10 merkins at the top, go down, 10 squats at the bottom then go up. That’s 1 round. Fabio led the group with 22 rounds.

Sled Pull Stations: Mosey back to the Atlee HS parking lot and circle up. Each person does an exercise of choice while 1 person pulls a sled with a painters bucket filled with bricks around 2 islands. Rotate to next exercise.

Mosey back to the flag. Numberama, Namerama, Carpenter took us out.

Thanks for everyone showing up for my VQ – was a fun time!

  • Stop, Drop and Give me 20

13 brave souls, including one out of town guest returning to the Motherland for the Holiday week, and our trusty guard dog, Cooper, posted to NoToll for the last bowl of 41-year old Gumbo to be served up, it started promptly at 0530 with 20 merkins OYO and the instruction that a 5-minute (give or take) timer was in play today.

    NMS –

Another phenomenal morning to get out and get stronger. Great PAX this morning. Not a lot of mumblechatter or stink bombs…yes, Wilson fartsacked. But, lots of movement and great work put in.

Great to see Sir Topham Hat back in town for the Holiday and looking as strong as ever. Also great to have Honeymoon and POG back posting at the bootcamps.

Thanks for following my lead this morning.

No More Gumbo For You…at least not this vintage!

  • Holy Sunrise Batman!

Four gentleman/scholarly types met at the pump house lot to once again attempt at becoming one with nature while trying to remain upright.

We did Buttermilk+Quarry Loop to T-Pot to North Bank to get right around that 7 mile number.

    Observations:

The sunset turned the 4 of us into wide-eyed children for the duration of the Nickle Bridge. Fabulous..

YHC had not hit the trails in the Fall season.. the leaves do an excellent job of concealing roots and loose rocks.. Shakedown went down and YHC and Helix had near misses. Still a solid pace.

Just a great morning. Thankful for the opportunity as always.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…”

    -Henry David Thoreau

  • A Middle Finger with a Secular Close

14 gents ran a version of Singer’s-Toe run – which some described as having a middle finger due to the long upward climb up near the end. 4, 5, and 6 mile routes were represented. YHC opted for a secular and un-inspired close in the end. (This is what you get when you are not the Q and function as a stand-in….sorry fellas.)

  • 44 + 44 = Dynamic Duo

A grand total of 2 Heartbreak Ridgers emerged from the gloom to embark on a frosty morning. With two police officers keeping a close watch, here’s what went down:

COP – SSH, arm circles, Russian soldiers, merkins and LBCs.

Mosey to the parking lot for a beast. YHC realized that the parking lot is perfectly set up for a beast. There are 6 rows of parking spaces. We did burpees, mountain climbers, merkins, jump squats, hand-release merkins and monkey humpers.

Next, we went to the pull up bars for 3 sets with some SSH, dips and other stuff mixed in between.

Wander around the track to the concession stand for wall sits and balls to the wall, then go to next door to the bleachers for box jumps and box kicks.

Finally, head to the ridge for a Dora – 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 squats.

Numberama, nameorama (we’re both 44!) and YHC took us out.

    Announcements – TYA’s Thanksgiving lesson at 45MoM.

    See you in the gloom.
