  • Who’s it? Not it! Your it

11 strong showed up in the parking lot of SOT this morning, Wilson and Duke went one way 7 more went another way leaving YHC and Rosco wondering what just happened. YHC decided to take the bull by the horns and lead a two man party. After COP Doner Kabob joined the party and Bulls eye went in search of some runners.

Numbers / Names THC took us out

Boberry explained what 3rd F is and said there is a link to join every other Tuesday.

NMS: Interesting start to the day. What looked to be a big PAX ended up with just YHC and Rosco here for a Bootcamp everyone else took off on a run including Wilson and Duke, Whatttt??? YHC had never met Rosco so it was actually good to somewhat get to know him a bit. DK ended up joining us at about door number 3 after taking his warm up lap around the track. All the runners returned without incident but apparently Wilson tried to stir up trouble with a Jeep at one point.

    Amazon Deal of the Day

Seven thrill-seekers descended upon First Watch today for a Q postponement from last week. Some early risers were there upwards of 10 minutes early, hoping to capture today’s over-sharer story first hand. The PAX would have to wait until the chosen one spoke for storytime. Upchuck arrived thinking it was YHCs F3 anniversary. Clearly, he gets confused on social media as it was YHCs wedding anniversary yesterday. Whatever it takes to encourage someone to post.

Props to Kubota and Last Call who both proclaimed that they are part of Wilson’s I Hate Running Crew. T-shirt opportunity may be in play here? Perhaps clowns on the back? This workout is arguably a running workout so nice job pushing through ALL OF IT. I clocked it at 3.1 miles. Boom.

YHC expected more mumblechatter during this workout since we would have time in between sets to pass the time. Mumblechatter significantly waned after the first few sets while most of us captured our breath.

There was continual prodding by one of our PAX members for someone to overshare. No takers for a few sets but then he spoke. So today, the over-sharer of the week award goes to EF Hutton. Congrats brother. He will be hosting a zoom call later today for his acceptance speech.

  • DaVille Platter

8 men showed up for a nice cool workout this morning and here is what went down:

    COP

YHC has not been the Q at DaVille in awhile and with a FNG in tow felt a few of my favorite routines were in order so we moseyed to the bus loop and circled up for 20 SSH, 10 DQ, 10 Helicopters, 15 Imperial Walkers, 15 Russian Soldiers, Arm Circles 10 small, 5 big, reverso, 10 small and 5 big, 20 LBC’s, 10 2ct American Hammers, 10 reverse scorpions, 10 scorpions and 20 merkins. We are warmed up and ready to go.

    THANG

We split into 2 groups of 4 for a triple check P1-runs bus loop as the timer, P2 – Performs step ups on the bench, P3(two people) perform 40 merkins then plank waiting for P1 to finish lap. Then P2 – Runs lap, P3- Step ups and P1-40 merkins then plank. Finally P3(two people) run lap, P1- step ups, P2 – 40 merkins then planks while P3 completes lap. This completes the first Set. We repeat this set routine 2 more times.

We mosey back to flag for a short Tabata workout of 3 exercises. Exercise 1 – lunges, Exercise 2 10 merkins then plank for the remaining time in 20 second interval and Exercise 3 LBC’s. This Tabata routine we perform 8 sets of 20 seconds of exercise, 10 seconds rest totaling 4 minutes for each Exercise.

    MARY

We finish up with some stretching then Namerama and Numberama.

YHC was glad to see Mudface at Daville who was so motivated that he is going to Q Daville next week(October 27, 2020). YHC was also happy to meet Kevin Waldron(Friend of Spike) who now has an F3 name—HOOK. YHC also summed up the merkin count of 220 (20 warm up, 120 triple check and 80 in Tabata). We performed some stretches this morning so Hook will not be as sore the next few days. Welcome HOOK and it was and honor to lead you gents this morning. I look forward to seeing you in the gloom. Have a great Week! Cheers….CB

  • Orange Crush IPA

17 men made of iron, steel and other carbon based metals made their way to No Toll for YHC’s first Q at No Toll. These men were met with a little surprise…it’s a birthday Q!!! Here’s what went down –

Mosey to the parking lot for the disclaimer + warmup which included – SSH, Helicopters, Arm Circles (GO!) forward and back, merkins and LBC’s. Once completed mosey to one side of the parking lot for BlackJack.

BlackJack – 20 merkins + 1 WWII, 19 merkins + 2 WWII’s, 18 merkins + 3 WWII’s, 17 merkins + 4 WWII’s, etc. YHC’s had the great idea to do this all in one location, but after a couple rounds this turned into an idea that was good on paper. A quick audible was called with a jog to the other side of the parking lot in between sets. Still tough, but a bit more manageable. Al Gore for this six and then on to the next exercise.

Starting at the corner of the parking lot, complete 15 burpees, run around the parking lot, 25 carolina dry docks, run, 35 double count lunge, run, 50 air squats, run, 35 lunges, run, 25 CDD’s, run 15 burpees. Fresh Prince and Spit led the way as usual. I’m not sure Fresh Prince even broke a sweat. Doozey and Flange were not far behind. Others did as much as time permitted.

Final mozey back to the flag for a ring of fire merkins. Numberrama, Namearama with YHC taking the group out in prayer. After prayer YHC dished out a birthday present to the PAX, Orange Crush IPA from Back Bay Brewing company (or a slight variation)! Enjoy a drink tonight brothers since we can’t celebrate together.

Thank you for the opportunity to lead! Off on my next journey around the sun.

P.S. See Tobit. I can lead a workout at some where other than SOT.

  • Sports Frenzy Reigns Over Heartbreak

    Sports Frenzy Reigns Over Heartbreak

Twelve tantalizing tacticians gathered in the thick mist for a rarely seen Splinter Q at Heartbreak. The PAX randomly scattered for pre-launch banter then off we went for a short mosey through the light dew before gathering up between the baseball fields for:

    COP
    – Helicopters x10
    – Arm Circles x15
    – Don Qioxotes x10
    – Knee (not that knee) Pulls x10
    – Merkins x10

Short saunter over to the volleyball? courts for our first set of exercises. Using the space between the volleyball courts as our demarcation line, we performed an exercise to get to the line, did another exercise, then completed another exercise to get to the next line. Continue across all 4 courts. Exercises were Polar Bears, Merkins x10, Lunges, Merkins x10, Polar Bears, Merkins x10, Lunges, Merkins x10. Al Gore for the six.

Work back across the volleyball courts with different exercises. Bear-pees, WWII x10, Broad Jumps, WWII x10, Bear-pees, WWII x10, Broad Jumps, WWII x10. Plank rotation for the six.

Bee-line through the basketball courts towards the far tennis court for 3 sets of, well, tennis. Line up on the side line for a line drill to start. Then three sets of three different exercises with a variation of a line drill in between each set. Rep numbers were clearly arbitrary.

    15 merkins / 30 jump squats / 40 2x flutter kicks / line drill
    15 hand release merkins / 30 ball dippers / 40 2x hammers / line drill
    15 shoulder tap merkins / 30 leg somethings / 40 LBCs / line drill

Aimlessly follow the Q back to the middle of the basketball courts for traveling triple check. Exercises were flutter kicks and jump squats with the traveler running the width of 4 courts to tag the partner.

Slide on over to the baseball/softball field for some light baseball fun.

    Single – run to 1st, 10x WWIIs, run to 2nd, 10xWWIIs, etc.
Double – run to 2nd (via 1st), 20 merkins, run home (via 3rd), 20 merkins
Triple – run to 3rd, 30 jump squats, run home
Home Run – inside the parker followed by a Honeydo requested 40x pickle pounders

Meander back to the flag for 10x dealer’s choice ring of fire where we counted digits and disclaimed our twice given names before YHC took us out.

    Announcements
    – Still collecting shoes through the end of the month. Need at least 10 more pairs
    – F3RVA has doubled our commitment to Breaking Bread. Sign up on the Q sheet and talk to Upchuck for details
    – Ronnie is missing his miata and is looking for a replacement man card

    Moleskin
Thanks for the great turnout and mumblechatter this morning. For future reference, left field of the big field needs a California sized drought to dry out the outfield. At least Handshake’s shoes didn’t have a chance to dry out from yesterday.

For those that care to know, YHC likes running. YHC hasn’t had a chance to run much recently and today was a test to see how my body will respond. Thanks for sticking with it! Not a lot of breaks out there.

  • Bandy Cluster…

9 gents arrived to take a running route from a negligent Q. The route included a long climb up Horsepen and then a run around the perimeter of Bandy field on an extremely dark and foggy morning. Suffice to say, it was ill-advised and no one could see or find the proper path…picture every pax member going in different directions.

CSAUP this weekend. See TYA for details.

  • This Route Stinks

3 met this morning for a cool morning run….It was so dark that we did not see the fog! Here is what went down:

YHC decided an old trusty route with a twist was in Order so we went over the Railway and down Atlee Station road someone hit a skunk and we smelled this until we took a right on Jeans Grove Drive. We had to back track on Odey Drive to DeWitt, to Cudlipp Ave to Aaroe Dr, down the hill and back at Ashlar Pl back up to Aaroe to Cudlipp. Here was the twist, we took a left to run through the Giles Farm development up to Halifax drive and took this loop around(Thank you Marco Polo for leading this route) to finish at Atlee high school with 4 miles.

This was a tough route with many long hills due to the direction we ran this morning, great workout and Marco Polo took a spill near the end so we stopped, recovered and finished strong.

DONE (PAX covered 2.85 miles of running today)

    COT :

Great to have Spit join us today from north side. Not surprised to see him crush the workout based on the backblasts I see from him.

Prayers for Marmaduke’s in-laws. Both of them have been hospitalized from Covid.

Prayers for Rosco’s family as they mourn the passing of his MIL. She just recovered from Covid but 29 hours later she passed away after returning home.

Prayers for YHC’s sister-in-law down in Florida as their family mourns the passing of her father from Covid.

    Prayer :

  • Bateau still floats

Two gathered at Bateau to kick off the week. Here’s how it went:

Quick warm up jog, 20x SSH, 10x DQ, 10x CP, 20x LBC, 10x HRM, grab coupons and mosey to the park entry for a Dora: 100x alternating block Merkins, 200x jump over block squats, 300x leg lifts over block; timer runs the loop in front of the stone house.

Mosey with coupon rifle carry / curls carry to the road at the base of the sledding hill. Partner bear crawl block drag from the bottom up to the playground, alternating runner timer to the top. Mosey back down to retrieve the extra coupon & alternate lunge / curl carry back to the playground. Mosey to picnic benches for 30x dips, 20x WWII, 30x dips, 30x step ups, rifle carry back to the flag.

YHC was super thankful to have Boberry show up as a solo Q would have quickly turned into south side coffee curl repeats! Until next time, GP.

  • Over the river and through the woods

A band of 8 Stallions broke free of the chains of the Fartsack and took to the streets of Tuckahoe and this is what transpired.

COP – Side Straddle Hops, Swirly’s Dead Man Hangs, Don Quixote’s, LBC’s, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, Merkins

Mosey down Hepler Road to the corner of Paris and Paris Ridge. Partner Up. Mosey down Paris to Forest to Trinity UMC and partnered up. P1 held P2’s Legs and P2 did Wheelbarrow walks and switched as needed until they reached the road. Crabwalk back to original location.

Next up at Trinity: Ascending and Descending Four Corners. Corner 1 – 10 Hand Release Merkins, Corner 2 – 10 Hand Release Merkins and 20 WWI’s, Corner 3 – 10 Hand Release Merkins, 20 WWII’s, 30 two-count Flutter Kicks, Corner 4 10 Hand Release Merkins, 20 WWII’s, 30 two-count Flutter Kicks, 40 SSH’s. Repeat Corner 4 and descend back to Corner 1 and 10 Hand Release Merkins

At this point YHC asked if anyone knew the long way back and Splinter said he did. Splinter took us Rock Creek to Baldwin and then he asked YHC if he wanted to cut through the Park. YHC wasn’t thinking clearly about the Creek but agreed. We Forded the Creek to Lindsay Court and Bernie Sandered to the top of Lindsay Court and moseyed back to the flag.

Announcements – Gomer is working with TYA to get a team for the CSAUP.

NMS – Splinter has decided to take control of his destiny and has signed up to Q both Heartbreak on Tuesday and First Watch on Wednesday. After being skipped on multiple Hot Potatoes and having the entire Pax revolt last week and abandon First Watch for W-Dog he figures that he’d have better luck if he signed up for two days in a row. That being said if you liked crossing the creek in the complete darkness today then you’ll be in for a real treat over the next couple of days. On other notes, both Honeydo and Upchuck give YHC Flak for not Q-ing enough and neither showed today (and they both were well aware YHC was The Q).

Cheers men, thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead.
