  • Second Annual-First Inaugural Retreat

And still the champions – Gumbo & Vinny (‘Stache Bros)!

30-40 meats posted at the butchery for our second iteration of the Retreat. Many thanks to each of you for making it what it is, an ode to, and showcase of the ‘Stache Bros.

As usual, the main event, the annual Gumbo & Vinny win, Cornhole Tournament was a blast. There were good outfits (mine), bad outfits (TYAs), and things worn that should never, ever be considered again (DTH / Hardywood).

The food was excellent, and the brotherhood was even better. This is a gathering I very much look forward to each year. It was great seeing my brothers, old and new.

Mark your calendars now for the 3rd Annual-First Inaugural Retreat: 10/2/2021.

And still the champions – Gumbo & Vinny (‘Stache Bros)!

    Anonymous quotes from our gathering:

“Sure, but I haven’t shotgunned a beer in 35 years.”

“I’d pay $30 for a Gatorade, right now.”

“Cornhole meant something different when I was a kid.”

“Gumbo & Vinny are unstoppable.” – All of you said this at some point.

    “Fore.”

“Are we at a Megadeth concert”?

“Pretend like they are North Koreans.”

    “Who brought the school desk?”

(Feel free to add any additional, and very much unattributed quotes from the day).

    Love you clowns.

  • PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

    PreBlast: 2nd Annual First Inaugural F3RVA Retreat – 10/3/2020

Brothers, this year’s Retreat will once again be held at the Gomer Pyle family compound in Amelia. Gates will open at 2:00 PM.

Site Address: Text me (804-852-0800) or see Gomer Pyle. For security reasons, the address will not be posted here .

Cornhole: Gumbo and I look forward to defending our title. Two man teams need to start forming now so that E.F Hutton can set up the brackets. Teams should be comprised of members from different nano-regions. Please use the sign-up sheet on Google Docs. This – double elimination tournament – will start at 2:00.

BYOE: Bring your own everything, plus anything you want to share with the group. Last year Rosie donated 100 oysters to the cause. We will have Circle K’s massive grill, but if you want to smoke something, a la Shakedown, you’ll need to bring your own smoker, etc.

Camping: We will be camping out for one night. Bring tents, truck beds, whatever you will need.

Organized Events: Other than cornhole, there will be none. This event is not about working out – we do that all year round. This is a 2nd F event! There will be other lawn games available for impromptu fun. Last year this format worked very well. Simply hang out and enjoy yourselves.

    Looking forward to it!

  • RVA shoe drive

F3: Our mission is to plant, grow and serve small workout groups for men for the invigoration of male community leadership.

Fall is upon us and the cold months of Winter will be setting in before you know it. For many, life is comfortable, warm, and stable, the choices we have made along the road have led us to right here where we are being called upon to lead in a world that desperately needs leaders to step up and take action in the community.

Starting October 1st the men of F3 RVA are being called upon to help those men of Richmond that are in need of a small gesture of help. Over the 31 days in October the challenge is to collect 62 pairs of new or gently used mens/boys shoes or boots that will be donated to a men’s shelter the 1st weekend of November before the cold Virginia winter sets in. For every pair collected, YHC will buy a corresponding set of new socks to go with them.

Point of Contacts (POC)s have been spread out around the region with YHC tasked with collecting from the POCs every week at the Saturday AOs (Grid Iron and DogPile).
SOJ: (South of the James) POC: Dr.Try Hard
    West End POC: HoneyDo
    Da-Ville: POC: Spit

These #HIM will collect your donations at the weekly M-F AOs and bring them to the Saturday AOs for consolidation.

Let’s make a mountain of shoes and socks men. I know you have pairs in the back of the closet just collecting dust and your 2.0s have outgrown a few pairs as well.

    SYITG!!!

So sorry for the late notice.

    Your pal,

Also big shout out to the Honeydew Crew who policed up the bricks after COT. Not surprisingly, the watermelon was a huge hit, and YHC is thinking we’ll be seeing more of the watermelonorama for YHC’s summer Q’s to come. And keep tuned – we will be doing this again in August! • Breaking Bread and Enjoying the Fellowship

Breaking Bread and Enjoying the Fellowship

Representative’s from three of F3RVA’s nano-regions, converged on Belt Blvd this beautiful evening to serve up some food and fellowship with our brothers. After Husky blessed the food, twelve Medical Respite patients were served:

    Pork BBQ w/ buns

    Beef BBQ w/ buns

    Cole Slaw

    Baked Beans

    Cookies

    Lemonade

    Tea

The twelve were very appreciative and very hungry, but there was a somewhat somber mood with the TV blaring the news of Kobe Bryant’s passing (may he Rest in Peace).

If you have never participated and experienced Breaking Bread, please sign up on the Q sheet (every 4th Sunday of the month.) It is very rewarding and humbling. Any questions, please ask Lab Rat as he is the head of this great charity.

  • PreBlast: Breaking Bread

    PreBlast: Breaking Bread

A few of the newer PAX have asked about Breaking Bread and what it is and a few of the older PAX may need a refresher on what it is. The following is a short description of one of F3RVA’s service projects:

Breaking Bread is a program by the Daily Planet and is located at the Medical Respite of Richmond which is located on Belt Blvd in Richmond’s Southside. F3RVA has been signed up for years to serve a hot meal, on every 4th Sunday of the month, to a group of 5 to 20 homeless individuals who are recovering from a stay in the hospital for various reasons. The Medical Respite gives them time to recover in a home-like setting before being released to other housing or, more than likely, back on the streets 🙁

Here is the link to the program: https://dailyplanetva.org/get-involved/breaking-bread/

You can bring anything like pizza, BBQ, Fried Chicken, Lasagna, etc., etc. along with sides, drinks, and desserts. This is a great time to give your time to these more unfortunate people and show them you care. I have taken my 7 year old son with me a couple of times and other PAX have taken their whole families and friends to help. It usually takes about 4 to 5 people to serve this meal and to spend time with them in fellowship and prayer.

Breaking Bread is a great way for you and F3RVA to practice your 2nd and 3rd F’s! Sign up now on the Q sheet! Plus, this is extra credit for the Winter and Summer Tours!

YHC and my 2.0 Husky have signed up for January’s Breaking Bread, but we will need help. Please let me know if you would like to participate.

    Thanks and SYITG!

    NMS:

    • The following was recited during the COT – a tribute to the Forge, F3RVA, and all it means to be men of God:

Upon the anvil of life, God hammers us repeatedly, not to break us, but to mold us, and to force the impurities from our selfish flesh. He repeatedly holds us in the fiery Forge to become softened by the Holy Spirit, that His light may shine before the World through us.

“We are each God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do the works He has prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph 2:10)

What has God prepared for us today? This month? This year?! As iron sharpens iron, so God has placed us into one another’s lives to uphold His Forging process. Our F3 brotherhood in every way honors this process. We leave no man behind, and we leave no man where we find him. Let us be encouragers and accountability partners – we can not be influential without connection, so let us start 2020 strong by posting more and encouraging our F3 brothers and our sad clown neighbors to do the same! SYITG, ~DTH
