  • 94 Burpees for Granny

11 men gathered for the unknown. Slaughter Start with 14 Burpees set the pace for what was coming.

YHC cant remember all the things we did, it was a hodge podge or partner work, triple checks, etc with a 10 Burpee timer going off every 5 minutes.

Announcements – Bone Thugs Tax Day run tomorrow at RAAM. Currahee is cancelled. Also, congrats to Bone Thugs on the new job.

Prayer Requests – Tryhard’s sister and family as well as Lab Rat as they go through Cancer treatments.

NMS – we lost my maternal Grandmother this week, she was 94 years old. She moved up to Richmond 11 years ago when she started falling. She was a fiercely independent person who treated moving from the home she loved to an assisted living facility and in a wheelchair with such grace. The 94 Burpees were for her.

Go forth today and love your family and friends and enjoy the beauty of the Spring.

    19TH GREEN

    Hello Friends.

A Tradition Unlike Any Other made a triumphant return after a bit of a hiatus.  And it very much felt like a reunion of sorts.  Lots of long-time F3 RVA PAX on the course today at MM Country Club.  Seems the PAX had a pretty good idea of what was to come as we teed off at 0530, though some still do not grasp the repetitions of 9, 18, 72, etc.  Unlike the pros who warm up at the range, YHC prefers to warm up with the cart girl and jump right in on the 1st tee box, thus straight to Merkins.  Bodos snuck past security and joined the field as it was crossing the Hogan Bridge on 12.  The Drive, Chip, Putt competition went about as well as women trying to get a tee time at Augusta National.  YHC is pretty certain the PAX was about 6 over through 4, but we’ll just put down Par on the old scorecard.  It was the short game, and the long game that let the PAX down.  As FICO struggled to get up and down on hole number 4, TYA promised YHC something of a reward if a snowman was carded.  With that threat, YHC instinctively yelled GET IN THE HOLE!  As we go forth let’s remember that 2 wrongs don’t make a right, but 3 rights make a left.  May the PAX’s days be filled with Eagles and Birdies.  Until next year…

Knockout! : We played 3 rousing rounds of knockout at the basketball court. SSH while waiting in line, American Hammers and WW2s when you get knocked out. Honeydo won 1 game, Upchuck won 2!

Final COP: Crunchy frogs, 5 Burpees OYO

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Being the last day of March, and having not enjoyed basketball in the darkness thus far this month, YHC thought it was fitting to end the month with a game of knockout. It was shocking how many of the guys had never played this game! Super fun time and thanks guys for giving it a go.

In this season of Lent, let’s all be brave enough to face up to the darkest places in our own souls, and ask God and other people for help.

    peace+

  • Baseball Coaching, Spies Like Us Readers Digest Edition

Yep, that’s the mumble chatter in a nutshell for this elite 8. A quick COP and off we went east on Grove with a mobile Lindsay. Exercises were Box Cutters and Carolina Drydocks.

A long mosey down Malvern and over to another church for some Triple Checks. Partner 1 – run around the parking lot, partner 2 – American Hammers, and partner 3 – Monkey Humpers.

Workout was cut a little short as time permitted and back to the AO.

    YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

HDHH on Wednesday at 630 at the Answer. For those who want to run prior, show up at 545. Gomer Pyle is on point.

  • Only theme was rain

Six strong stalwarts came out to 45MoM (with 2 auditors) wondering where Splinter’s lights were for the first day of the Tourney. Alas they were stuck with YHC as Q but soldiered on:

COP in pavilion: Invisible Jumprope, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. 3 Rounds of: 20 Dips & 20 step ups, then 2 rounds of 25 PLTs.

    Mosey out into the rain:

Dora 123: 100 HRMs, 200 Donkey Kicks, 300 Jumpsquats. Mosey over to tree line next to Cary. Alternate at each tree 20 Reverse Crunches and Burpees (increasing from 1) with bear crawl & lunge between trees. Mosey back to dropoff loop on Grove: 3 rounds of 20 WWIIs and Squats. Finish with Wheelbarrow and 25 Irish Hammers.

NMS: YHC toyed with a St Pattys Day theme but was the only one even wearing green. Glad that Splinter held off on his NCAA tourney theme as rain and soaked courts would not have worked well. Hitch and Oyster convinced YHC to take cover for the COP. Had we known the tomato quality to come out later we could have stayed and shared the pavilion. But this is F3RVA so we had to play in the rain. Although a soft rain in 55 degree weather is a lot better than the snow and freezing rain we’ve had the last week. TYA and Saab walked and joined us for the COT.

Announcements: SPD-Happy Hour at Capital Ale House in Innsbrook this evening starting out around 5. YHC will be there for a while along with Gomer Pyle. Come out if you can.

  • Dolly vs Rosalita

4 gents debated the form and function of certain exercises during an off-campus field trip to the outskirts of Mary. Some counted for no apparent reason. Doras and Lindsays were modified to accomodate the location, low turnout, and YHC’s whim.

    Saab abides

    Rosalita

Ab exercise done laying on back, legs raised to 90 degrees. Keeping legs perpendicular to ground, separate legs outward then return to start.

    Dolly

Ab exercise done laying on back, legs raised about six inches from ground. Keeping legs parallel to ground, separate legs outward then return to start.

  • Double Triple Check

Twelve early birds descended upon the mean streets of the west end of Richmond to see what surprises YHC had up the sleeves. The mumble chatter was going strong even before the clock struck 5:30. TYA and FICO were synced up with matching outfits this AM.

    COP

YHC was sure to do all the offical Q announcements at the start of today because there was a FNG in the mix and YHC wanted to make sure they knew all the rules. The PAX helped with some of the pre announcements. No stretching for today, YHC wanted to leave that to the end, so it was off to the races. Mosey on over to the tennis courts for the main event.

    THANG

Once we arrived at the tennis courts YHC was surprised to find a white board with some great exercises written down (inspired by Bodos). Everyone partnered up and there was an odd number at first but out of the darkness emerged Kokomo, so Antharx had a buddy now.

The way a double triple checked worked was as follows. The board had a series of exercises, and one partner ran around the entirety of the Mary Mumford campus (0.7 miles to be precise), while the other partner went through all the exercises on the board, and when the partner came back they picked up where the other had left off, and the next partner ran the lap. Each partner runs the loop three times, and when you get to the bottom of the list you start back over at the top. Total mileage was somewhere just shy of 3 miles.

Here’s the exercises – courtesy of Bodos:

    • 100 SSH
    • 90 Squats
    • 80 LBCs
    • 15 Burpees
    • 70 Mountain Climbers (two count)
    • 60 Merkins
    • 50 American Hammers (two count)
    • 15 Burpees
    • 40 WW2s
    • 30 Flutter Kicks (two count)
    • 20 Burpees
    • 10 Diamond Merkins

As the teams finished we circled up for an ab ring of fire. We got through two rounds, which YHC led everyone with varying heights of leg raises. YHC picked APDs.

Mosey on back to the flag and picked up Kokomo again on the way back.

The PAX welcomed FNG Prefontaine. Pre seemed to fit right in with the mumble chatter crowd and we look forward to his return – sans running.

Announcements – Mark your Calendars for June 4th. Convergence at the Bridge. 1 year anniversary

YHC took us out – be thankful for what you have.

I am truly grateful for this group and the consistency, energy and friendship it has brought into my life. Thank you gentlemen !

He’s a Pediatrician and he enjoys adventure racing, welcome Survey. YHC felt bad today when we ran back to Mary and there was Anthrax waiting for us, apparently he was 30 seconds late and YHC had already taken off with the Pax. Sorry Anthrax!

  • Interplanetary Bleaching
