NMS: 6 years ago this week YHC came out to F3 and was christened Bodos. It was nearly a year before I showed up again, and several months again until I became a regular. I am truly grateful for this group and the consistency, energy and friendship it has brought into my life. Thank you gentlemen !

  • Field Trip Day at 45MOM

12 men (later to be 13) arrived on time (or maybe 30 seconds late) for todays workout and this is what transpired

Clock strikes 0530 and we were off. Mosey across the street to N Willetta to Kingcrest to Woodlawn to Cary to Windsor Way. Circle up for a COP. Various exercises. Quick 5 Burpess for TYA and continue down Windsor Way to the field in front of Grace Baptist Church.

Time was running short so we started the mosey back. On the way we stopped one time to complete 20 HRM’s and 20 WWII’s.

Mosey back to the flag and arrive at 0617.

Announcements – The Bridge workout in Dillwyn, Va. at 0730 on Saturday, February 26th. Please see Slack for details.

NMS – Beautiful weather today. It was great to see a FNG (Survey) and well as a guest from Downrange (Brick) from Lexington, SA. Survey was EH’d by Kokomo. He’s a Pediatrician and he enjoys adventure racing, welcome Survey. YHC felt bad today when we ran back to Mary and there was Anthrax waiting for us, apparently he was 30 seconds late and YHC had already taken off with the Pax. Sorry Anthrax!

  • Interplanetary Bleaching

10 juveniles and 1 geriatric descended upon Mary to see what she had to offer. This is what transpired, more or less…

COT: Ball Lickers and other fan favorites, with an intermittent celestial anal-bleaching observation.

Four Corners (bro code), Descending Doras, Alternating Derkins/Dips, Tennis Court Crawls, D-Kicks/B-Crawls/Out and Back. All of the aforementioned involved copious running mixed with various Merkins and Ab-work.

  • No Rain Dance

8 hardy souls emerged from the gloom to get their day off to a solid start and to delay the rain by performing the following hot potato Q dance:

Lockjaw warmed us up with helicopters, cherry pickers and SSHs.

We then moseyed to the hard top to do a Lindsay comprised of donkey kicks and American hammers. This was followed by a cumulative four corners with 10 jump squats, 20 American hammers, 30 Carolina dry docks and 40 LBCs.

The Q was flipped to Saab who took us to the side of the school for 4 alternating rounds of 10 dips at one end and 10 Derkins/10 incline Merkins.

Saab passed the Q to Pucker. Mosey to Grove Avenue side of school (‘the front’) and do a curb crawl with Merkins/Derkins up to 7, Bear Crawl out, Crawl Bear back. We then moseyed to the tennis courts for 4 rounds – bernie sanders/karoake/lunge from one end of courts to other stopping to do 10 reps of an exercise between each court (jump Squats, freddie mercuries, WWIIs and LBCs).

Mosey back around the school back to the flag, numberama, namerama and Pucker took us out.

It is worthy to note that the rain held off until we were done as it has many times before it seems. Perhaps our no rain dance worked. Either way, Bodos was pleased with the weather report as a part of the prayer.

  • Lindsay-Light

6 Stallions and 1 Gerry descended upon Mary just to be taken elsewhere. This is what transpired more or less…

Warmup: Helicopters, DM-Hang, SSH (YHC does them correctly for a change). Run to Windsor Farms: Red Barshetta (exercise not the song), mosey, WWII, mosey, flutter kicks, mosey, Lindsay Lights (increment/decrement by 10…box cutters and Merkins across church field. Continue mosey. Bear crawls, crab walks, polar bears, and intermittent stops for various exercises. Back to field: Tree Suicides doing alternating merkins and WWIIs on the out and back. Finish with a couple rounds of donkey kicks/bear crawls, run our and bernie-back.

    NMS:

A question was posed by TYA: Are woman referred to as chicks because they produce eggs?….or because they prefer cocks?

  • BD Integrity

  • Tracing the Lines

Seventeen able bodied Kindergarten graduates including one FNG gathered in the light of the moon (well, spotlight) for today’s on-time launch of 45 MoM. Quick mosey around the track before gathering on the tennis court, from which we never left, for:

    Announcements

    • After some confusion we confirmed Vinny’s dogpile q Saturday and Gomer’s NEXT Saturday departure. Prayers to Gomer, Pigskin, and the rest of the team as they mission in Honduras.
    • DaVille has shuffled their lineup, so take a look at the website or Corned Beef’s post before making a trip to DaVille.
    • We don’t do Yoga when it rains, but there is Broga regularly. Talk to Last Call or Doublemint for more info.

    Moleskin

Late yesterday afternoon, the Q sheet was still wide open for today. Given that, there was little expectation on the numbers that actually showed up today. Like clockwork, 5:25 and the moths converged near the flame. You can thank Saab for today’s sequence as he hesitated to put his name on the Q sheet and YHC capitalized.

In that vein, last night YHC was searching for inspiration when an article appeared describing Djokovic’s situation down under and YHC thought to his self… SELF!!! What should the theme be for tomorrow? Tennis was top of mind so tennis is what we got today.

It was a pleasure to lead this morning gentlemen and YHC appreciated all the words of encouragement. They truly are what gets me through the day. At one point YHC did hear Gomer justifying the inclusion of Scorpion Kicks, and for that YHC thanks you.

YHC also appreciates Wedding Singer for taking the lead on the tracers on the other side of the court. Forget the idiots behind you and their suggestions, you did a fine job leading, and for that YHC thanks you.

Ample mumblechatter today for a bunch of geriatrics. I guess it’s true what they say. A fine wine gets better with age while grown men get saltier.

    Enjoy the day. Splinter out.

  • A Bakers Dozen

The finest men in the Richmond area met in the gloom for a beatdown and this is what transpired:

    • Meander around front of the school and back to the Asphalt Playground for COP
    • Mosey off campus over to Reveille UMC. Partner up, P1 Runs down the Parking Lot then Bernie Sanders down the next row and then up the final row and loops around back to the Pavilion. P2 does various exercises across 4 rounds (WWII’s, Flutter Kicks, LBC’s, Hand Release)
    • Mosey over to the Greek Church on the Corner of Malvern and Grove. Round 1 – Bear Crawl across half the lot then transition to Crab Walks. Round 2 – Polar Bear halfway and then transition to a Crab Fish (idea as a Polar Bear but adding a WWII to the Crab Walk)
    • Triple Check – P1 Run to the far end up the lot and Bernie back, P2 does Jump Squats, P3 does WWII’s?
    • Mosey back to flag
    • 1 minute of Mary to close out the 45 minutes

NMS – it was a great morning to go for a walkabout. After days over rain/snow/ice it was nice to see clear roads and parking lots ready for us. YHC felt bad for our LIFO (TYA) because he was running late after being a great Dad and taking his daughter to the Train Station and he arrived we were nowhere to be found. Hopefully Saab is feeling better since he was originally the Q but he had to put up the Bat Signal since he wasn’t going to make it.

Announcements/Prayer Requests – No announcements but we did have Prayer Request for Jessup’s mother who is recovering from surgery.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead.

  • 945

Four studs, representing 945 (now 949) posts this year, assembled for the penultimate workout of 2021. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the Subaru driving ladies using the pavilion, the following likely happened:

    5:28 Saab calls Hot Potato

5:30 Launch by running around the Grove side of the school to Saab’s favorite warm-up spot.

5:31 COP. Helicopters, Dead Man Hang, Arm Circles, Russian Soldiers Imperial Walkers, Merkins

5:37 Lindsey. 2 trees up, and one tree back. Merkins and WWIIs.

5:48 Handshake Q. Mosey to corner of Grove and Westmoreland. Handshake reminded the PAX that the “block” has “corners” (and four of them). The PAX used those corners to do: 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 WWIIs, 40 Carolina Dry Docks.

5:52 Mosey to the track, find the wall of plastic edging, and do 30 dips

5:58 Hitchhiker Q. Mosey to the tennis courts for 4 corners. 10 merkins, run a full lap plus run to 2nd corner, 20 Copperhead Squats, run a full lap plus run to 3rd corner, 30 LBCs, run lap plus to 4th corner, 40 side-straddle hops.

6:03 UpChuck Q. Mosey to where we are. Catch Me if You Can. Three PAX crawl bear along fence surrounding tennis courts. 4th PAX does 5 reverse crunches, then chases. Each PAX picks one man to tag. Don’t pick anyone who has been tagged previously.

    6:04 – 6:07 Gripe about this exercise. It’s hard.

6:08 Finish griping. Mosey to blacktop. Realize there are 6 minutes left.

    6:09 Mosey BTTVSF for Mary.

6:10 – 6:13 Mary. American Hammers and Rosalitas (x40 each).

    6:12:05 TYA appeared.

6:12:08 TYA disappeared. Definition of LIFO (Last In, First Out). It’s You vs. You, so at his age, YHC counts this as a post. Push yourself…yada, yada, yada.

6:13 Yoga for the remainder. Thanks Chum for introducing YHC to the magic of stretching at the end of a Beat Down.

    6:15 Time.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    Rockwood Park, 7:00 a.m. Saturday.

Corned Beef is leading a ramp building effort. Bring your board shorts, your best skate, and knee pads. Dates in January and February.

    NMS:

Nice work today, fellas. Just the right amount of push for the end of the year. Solid Coffeeteria as well.

Counting TYA, today’s PAX included 5 men for 1124 workouts and 187 Q’s (prior to today). Figures do not include the backblasts that TYA has not (yet) written. Nicely done this year, gentlemen. Average of 225 (now 226) workouts per man.

  • A Festivus for the Rest of Us…

14 friendlies and one shape-shifter showed for a display of feats-of-strength and an airing-of-grievances, of which there were many. This is what transpired more or less…

Deadman Hang, Merkins, Scorpion Kicks (much maligned), Ball-Lickers (Fan Favorite). Dips and Merkins/Derkins, station to station, 4 iterations. Descending Doras (LBCs, Flutter Kicks, Merkins) with run/bernie across courts. Chicken Peckers, B-Crawls, run out and back (3 iterations). Courts: Bear Crawl, Crawl Bear, Crabwalk, Polar Bear, then classic suicides. Feats of strength: Pax performs exercise while member does pull ups.

    Announcements/NMS:

    • Bodos’ house guest could not reconcile the concept of attending a pre-dawn workout in sub-freezing temperatures
    • TYA took the Q repeatedly during YHC supposed lapses…said-person told repeatedly what he could do with himself
    • Gomer made a brief appearance before disappearing into the ether…
    • Look for those Festivus Miracles wherever they may occur
