  • The Mumblechatter was Deafening

8 Chatty Kathy’s showed up this morning to celebrate Veteran’s Day with Lab Rat.

COP- Hitchhiker got a new TV it appears. Bodos gets like 200 channels without cable, most are some form of PBS…Wayne’s World comes in clear as day. I hear Ted Lasso is a good show!

4 corners- Submarines aren’t named after fish…the good ones are named after cities and states. Korea gets cold sometimes! Saab re-watched Clerks again, he enjoyed it.

Triple Check- Discussed benefits of Hulu vs. Apple TV vs. Netflix.

Salute to Veterans- 5 burpees for each veteran in attendance (Lab Rat and Hitch), then 5 merkins for a veteran of choice presented by each pax member.

8 minutes of Mary- Who would be in Squid Games 2 if/when it comes out? Also, if you haven’t watched Squid Games 1, you MAY be racist…not definitively…you might just be simple minded.

Lab Rat got to get a word in at the end to take us out. Thank a veterinarian today. If you don’t personally know one, Shakedown is standing in.

Apology of the week goes to HoneyDo, since I said Hardywood was a vet meaning HoneyDo. Or, is that a “You’re welcome”?

    Lab Rat apologizes…

  • Schools Out – Anyone There?

The PAX emerged out of the gloom to gather for 45MOM. As they arrived, each PAX member was not certain they had the right day or time as the recently well-lit parking lot was completely empty. We can attribute that to either courtesy on PAX’s part or misunderstanding of the ever changing parking rules. To make it less stressful, there is no school today (or this week) in RPS. Nonetheless, 6 did emerge from the gloom to take on a hot potato Q (with TYA running patrols around the neighborhood).

COP – Pucker kicked us off with some SSHs, Don Quixotes, Russian Soldiers, Arm Circles and Flutter Kicks.

PAX then proceeded to the field where Pucker set them up with old fashioned 45MOM 11s. OYO run to each of the 11 trees and perform a set of exercises. Round 1 was 5 Merkins, Round 2 was 5 Copperhead Squats, Round 3 was 10 LBCs and Round 4 was 3 Lt Dans. Pucker passed the Q to Hitch.

Hitch called 4 corners on the tennis courts. Round 1 – Run 1.25 laps around the courts to next corner and do 10 Merkins, 10 Squats, 10 SSHs, 10 WWIIs. 20 Partner Leg Tosses for a rest. Round 2 – repeat same but 20 of each exercise. Hitch then passed the Q to Last Time.

Mosey to pull up bars and do a triple check. Dips on the bench, pullups while 3rd man runs to fence and back. Last Time threw the Q to Garbage Plate for the last few minutes.

GP had PAX pair up and one partner did wall sits while other did Hand Release Merkins, escalating in number by 2 each time you switch

Back to the flag, numberama, name-arama and GP took us out

Reminder of Friday after Thanksgiving run/bike/walk in Forest Hill Park. Meet at Pavilion #1 starting at 7 group will do loop starting on each hour and do as many as you can/want.

  • Define “Large Tree”

An eager eleven came out to Mary on a beautiful crisp fall morning for an old school beatdown.

COP: SSH, Don Qs (saab approved), Russian Soldiers, Helicopters, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

    The Thang:

Start at corner of Grove & Westmoreland. Run up Westmoreland stopping at each large tree for 5 HRMs all the way to Cary. Partner up for 3 sets of 20 PLTs.

Over to school side for Triple check: Donkey Kicks, Reverse Crunches, & run to fence & back. Mosey to Tennis courts: few rounds of Bear Crawl & lunge then run back. YHC did not make PAX bear crawl full length of 4 courts.

Over to soccer field: Partner up & wheelbarrow length of full field. Bernie back then 20 WWIIs. Run across again then back to flag with 3 min of Mary under the lights.

NMS: Lots of chatter from PAX about YHC taking Q this am. It is true 45MoM is not on YHCs normal routine list but is the original virgin post so always good to get back out. Lots of whining from the PAX on the heavy dose of Hand Release Merkins at the start. With November Merkin challenge gauntlet thrown down by Splinter the PAX needs some practice. TYA joined us after the COT after knocking out a long run on his own. He confirmed the Black Friday runa-a-thon at Forest Hill is on again this year. Always a good time.

Announcements: Happy Hour is tonight, as in Thursday not Wednesday, aka today at Hardywood West Creek.

  • Freed to Pass Out

All eight of the PAX were able to find their appropriate new parking spots, and met at the new hang out spot for 45 Minutes of Mary! Rumor was one of our own indicated he would lead this morning but he may have given too much blood and bowed out. The potato was ready and waiting and Swirly picked it up to start it off.

In the light of the 100,000 lumen light fixture the Swirly led us in some stretches. Next the THANG started, everyone found a pole along the perimeter of the parking lot and there was a Native American style pole smoker, with 5x leg lifts and the rest of the pax holding feet up.

Potato was getting hot so Swirly tossed it to Oyster. Mosey on to the black top, split up into two groups of four, for a triple check. One station is the peoples chair, next YHC forgets, and then run to the fence and back. Oyster then led us over to what I believe is a dirty 4-corners. first corner 10 merkins, next, 20 jump squats, third is 30 WW2s, and YHC forgets the last one. That took a while but it also was a good workout.

Oyster tossed the potato willingly/unwillingly to YHC. Sticking to the tennis courts, ascending suicides, run to first line, one merkin, run back to start, then run to first line one merkin, run to second line, 2 merkins, then run back, rinse and repeat until all 8 lines are hit, 4 courts two lines each. Then back to the flag for some modified mary, and rounded it all out with a have a nice day stretch.

Prayers for a swift recovery for Handshake

    Seymour took us out.

  • A Guy Walks Into a Bar…

A lucky 11 descended upon Mary to see what the resident geriatric had in store. This is what transpired more or less:

COP: various stretches, HR Merkins, Ball-lickers. Pavillion: Partner does flutter kicks/Dollies while other runs out and back. Mosey to asphalt and hold 6 inches while Q tells poorly received joke at the same time an FNG joins our group. Do 3 rounds of donkey kicks, bear crawls, merkins, then run out and Bernie-back. Start at increments of 10 and finish at 30. Two Stations: Derkins and Dips. Perform 10/15 at each until visiting each 3 times. Run to courts: Bear Crawls, Crawl Bears, Crab Walks, Polar Bears. Classic suicides covering all 4 courts. Finish with a few minutes of Mary.

    NMS:

Nice to have an FNG join us in the midst of the workout. YHC’s timing of telling an offense joke at the same time our visitor arrived was impeccible. Unfortunately the name given (Radar) was already taken so the Q will rely on feedback in this BB and pick the final.

Welcome Packing Peanut…named for his work on eco-friendly package-filler

Announcements: Beer Mile (see Handshake or Faceplant…the two are the same to me). Blood Donation: Please see Pigskin. Bear Creek 10 Mile.

    Saab Abides

  • You’ll never walk alone

    • 30 Jump Squats. Run a lap
    • 20 2x American Hammers. Run a lap
    • 10 Burpees. Run back to the flag.

COT: Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Today I buried a young man of 21 years who took his life last week. He was a wonderful guy with a good job, a girlfriend and a wonderful family that loved him. No outward signs of mental health struggles. He clearly was suffering in some profound ways and didn’t reach out for help. Brothers, men in America are some loneliest people, who rarely have vulnerable friendships and are afraid to admit weakness. We shy from talking about mental health struggles and often wait until it is too late to do so. Groups like F3 exist to help create those kinds of relationships, so that there are people you can call and so that you have a safe place to admit struggle. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable, don’t be afraid to be weak, don’t be afraid to ask for help. We’ve all been in the pit, and you don’t ever have to walk alone.

  • Back to School

Three walkers, nine boot campers, and a canine were undeterred by the rain this morning. Pax running the BRR stretched the legs with a walk before departing later today. The rest of us moseyed over to the main field for COP. On the way over, a runner in the neighborhood advised us that she would be our mom and that we should have reflective illumination. We let her know that we were not running (though ironically we were running at the time) and not leaving the compound. Its always good to have a mom looking out for you.

COP – Helicopters, Deadman Hang, Don Quixote, Russian Soldiers, SSH, Scorpion Kicks (embrace getting wet early on).

Line up on the Commonwealth side of the field for bro-code 11s. The exercises – WWIIs and American Hammers. To keep it interesting, we moved between the trees with an assortment of bear crawl, crawl bear, lunges, backwards lunges, and broad jump.

Assemble at the back of the school. Perfect numbers for Triple Check. Wall Jump, Elbow Planks, Karaoke across the blacktop and back with 3 Burpees at the fence.

Line up on the wall for a round of Chicken Peckers.

Back over to the wall for Lindsays – Donkey Kicks and Heels to Heaven with a Bear Crawl in between.

Back to the flag where YHC took us out.
