Forest Hill Park

  • Look over there a shooting star

It was a nice cool morning over at Batteau with some Batteau regulars. Like most Monday mornings at Batteau we all got to flex our creative muscles with a Hot Potato!

Bleeder started us out with some side straddle hops, merkins, LBCs, DQs and a couple other morning stretching essentials that are escaping me.

Bleeder proceeded to lead us in an episode of four corners around the tennis court, we started with 10 Merkins, 10 box cutters, 10 World War II’s, and 15 double count mountain climbers. For each exercise we ran one lap and a quarter times around the tennis court.

From the Bleeder handed it off to Swirly and we moseyed on over to the jungle gym. Swirly chased off all the Monday morning people hanging out at the jungle gym in the pitch black darkness so that we would have the whole place to ourselves to work out. It went down like this five pull-ups, 10 incline Merkins, 15 dips, and repeat three times.

Then Swirly let us in and exercise I am not sure how to describe but it ended up with us doing a combination of 6 inches off the ground with other challenging moves in between, there was even a 3 inches off the ground in there somewhere. We heard “hold it” several times and we held it!

Swirly hand it off to sippy cup, and we moseyed on down to pick up some rocks. Partner up first partner carries a rock second partner runs ahead to like post around the lake then runs back to the partner caring the rock. Switch rock curing and proceed around the lake for one lap.

Since the rocks came down the hill the rocks had to go back up the hill and we partner carried them up alternating at the landings. We drop the rocks off and sippy cup handed it over to face plant.

YHC moseyed everyone back down to the bottom of the hill where we partnered up again and proceeded up the hill alternating running and lunges. Partner one did a rotation of five Merkins, 5 Burpee’s, and 10 World War II’s while partner two lunged up the hill then sprinted to catch up in between exercises. We took this all the way to the top of the hill somewhere in there there’s an audible to change from lunges to bear crawl. Once we got to the top we kept going back to the flag alternating with 10 Merkins 10 Burpee’s and 10 side sor we took this all the way to the top of the hill somewhere in there there’s an audible to change from lunges to their crawl. Once we got to the top we kept going back to the flag alternating with 10 Merkins 10 Burpee‘s and 10 side saddle hops.

My early morning memory may have failed me so I’m sorry if I missed some stuff.

numbers and names and YHC took us out .

  • 5 for Stumpies…

5 PAX regulars arrived at Batteau with Sippy Cup running his way to COP at 0530, and yes, Hot Potato Q for this Monday. Swirly took lead and over to tennis courts for COP and it went something like this–SSH, Don Quixotes, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, Planks, Merkins, LBC’s, and Flutter Kicks.

Swirly kept Q and over to the playground we went: x 5 pullups, x 5 dips for 5 sets. Mosey to picnic table-x 10 Incline Merkins, x 10 step ups for 5 sets. Q handed to Bleeder.

Bleeder leads us back down the steps, that were lined with trees, to concrete bottom. Bleeder instructed-up the steps to a stump, decline merkin x 5, back down steps to bottom x 10 squats. Back up steps to stump x 10 decline merkins…repeat with increments of 5 for merkins till 20 done. Merkins switched for poll smokers due to high of some stumps. Decline merkin with stump=Stumpies. Nice new workout Bleeder. Bleeder handed Q to Posh.

Posh lead us halfway down the road to the lake. Stop and bear crawl back to the steps. Lots of bear crawls. Q handed to Flatline.

Up the steps to the circle at The Pump House. Indian Runs with the six performing x 5 merkins and 2 loop runs around the park. With 5 minutes left, Mary called out. X 30 American Hammers, x 30 Freddie Mercuries, x 30 LBC’s, and 30 second count down of Iron Cross (head up, arms up, legs 6 inches). Number-ama, Name-r-ama, Announcements: Prayers for Marv’s Mom, Cash For Stash (see Vinny or Gumbo).

    YHC took us out.

NMS: Silent but efficient group this morning. Swirly called out YHC a few weeks ago heading to work so Batteau was a must this morning. It is half way to VCUHS. Way to start the week off right boys. Get it all out. Only those who post understand.

    Loud and Proud,

4 Hardwoods arrived at Batteau for a morning Beatdown.

    Agility drills on one leg

    COT

    Moleskin

With a solid three guys at the COP, YHC was thinking triple check city for the entire workout, and we discussed if we had seen Sippy crossing the nickel bridge on the way in this morning. Sip always arrives running in about 30 seconds prior to launch; however, today Sippy’s arrival was slightly delayed. He drove. It did beg the question, which is faster driving or running. Sippy did explain that he had gotten up early to get ahead on work and decided to drive; but the Professor had limited knowledge on the time and distance when it came to traveling by car; especially when factoring an empty fuel tank and no Smart tag.

  • Late night, don’t open the Q sheet

Sorry for the late post ya’ll forgot to write it before I left this morning.

YHC was watching the Dallas / Saints game and a little board so YHC opened the Q sheet to see who was at Batteau. No Q, well I guess you have to sign up right?

7 healthy solders showed up to see what Doozy had in store.

    COP:

Head to the Pickle ball court, dq’s, helicopters, cherry pickers, bat wings, heals to heaven, LBC’s

    Mosey to stone landing area:

Man Killers followed by three sets of dips (x20), run up the hill, squats (x20)

Mosey to the lake: Run the lake with descending merkins – start with 20 merkins at the first light subtract on at each light. Once around the lake use the lights on the hill to finish. Not enough light posts to work all the way to one so end at three.

Mosey to the road around that leads to the flag, lunges from sign to sign, backward lung from sign to tree, sprint to the final sign.

Mosey to the pickle ball court to meet the cheap prostitute:

A little confusing but we figured it out, corner one 5 LBC’s, corner 2 – 10 American hammers, corner 3 – 15 squats, corner 4 – 20 monkey humpers. Hit each corner on the way out and on the way back.

Finish out with a modified Mary, some LBC’s, scorpion kicks and other things. 10 Merkins of your choice while PAX holds plank.

    Back to the flag

    Numbers/Name/YHC took us out

  • Who’s the Q? Are you the Q? AM I? Hot Potato!

5 able bodied soldiers showed up at Batteau in the early morning light or non-Light wondering who was the Q. DTH was on the list but its 5:30 and he is not here, Swirly do you want to take the COP? Absolutely, lets mosey.

    COP – Swirly

YHC was not awake yet and didn’t think he would be writing the BB so I may be missing some exercises or they may be out of order. SSH, Helicopters, DQ’s, Scorpions, Imperial Walkers, LBC’s, flutter kicks and merkins.

    Mosey – Face Plant

Stone landing area – 10 Merkins, 10 Derkins, 20 Dips

Mosey to the lake – hit all the light poles with 5 Burpees at each all around the lake

Lung up hill to first light 10 WWII, Run to second light 20 WWII, Lung to third light 30 WWII, run to last light 40 WWII

Back to stone landing – 10 Merkins, 10 Derkins, 20 Dips

    Mosey – Doozy

Back up past the flag to the field with hills, down to the bottom of Death valley. 11’s – Bottom of the hill 1 squat top of hill 10 Plank Jacks, repeat and increase decrease as required.

Mosey to the pickle ball courts, circle up for a Merkin Mary – Merkins of your choice while everyone else waits in Merkin position. 20 LBC’s just to get us to a ful 45 minutes. Mosey to the flag.

Numbers and names / YHC took us out

    NMS:

YHC had taken a week off to hopefully heal a bum hip but with no real change decided a DTH beat down would be a great way to get back into it. With no Q at the helm, Swirly took control and declared a Hot Potato if DTH didn’t show up during the COP. Welcome to Richmond GLOW (from Greensboro), it was good to get to know you a bit this morning; YHC looks forward to catching up with you throughout the week.

  • Running all over Batteau

Let’s just get right into it. Swirly took the potato and started us out.

Mosey on over to tennis courts for a Swirly warmup consisting of:

Side straddle hops, merkins, LBCs, scorpions, Wilson’s and Fudd’s, and a couple others I may be missing. Swirly handed off the potato to Goldberg.

Goldberg mosey’ed us over to get some rocks. Partner up and one partner ran up to light and back (backwards run up hill, forwards run down hill), 3 times through, other partner was doing squats, overhead press, and LBCs with your rock of choice.

Goldberg then mosey’ed us over to the playground for some play time. Three sets of 5 pull-ups, 10 decline merkins, and 15 box jumps. Then hot potato Sippy.

Sippy took us on a run through forest hill park, stopping at every light post and doing 10 perfect merkins, also know as perkins. Then took a run and not a mosey back up to the top. Hot potato off to Face Plant (that’s a me).

Mosey on up to the iconic forest hill park house for the “walls of burp-a-co”. Seven times around the house each time do seven burpees. Hat tip to Hardywood for being the one one to finish before we called time.

Number-rama, name-rama, announcements. I probably missed something so let me have it in the comments section!

  • I’m in the weeds here

With a gathering of 7 healthy men arriving at Batteau this morning and no one that would claim the Q seat a hot Potato was called and Sippy cup grabbed the reigns.

    COP: Sippy Cup

Mosey to the Pickle Ball Courts – Side line to side line slow Bear Crawl and stretch the legs out, back was a Sippy Cup special (not sure what to call it) stand and scoop as you lung forward stretching the back of your legs, to the other side slow high knees, back butt kickers, and sprints back and forth (X9) on Sippies command. Finish out with Plank and 6″ variations.

Mosey to the side field or what I am calling Death Valley: Face Plant

100’s – Exercise (X100) first person finished calls 100 PAX (finished or not) runs down into the valley up to the other side, said person calls next exercise (X100) Repeat (X9). The same exercise can not be called and the same person can not call the exercises. To the best of my memory this is how it went but not necessarily in this order. SSH, Monkey Humpers, Flutter Kicks, Squats, LBCs, Mountain Climbers, 100 second Plank, shoulder touches and American Hammers. With only seven people and nine exercises a couple people doubled up.

Don’t mosey but the potato was passed to Bodos

Elevens on Death Valley – 10 Jump Squats run down hill and back up for 1 Burpee. You know the drill, Repeat and reverse until you are at 1 Jump Squat and 10 Burpees.

Mosey back to the flag: Doozy

Gather at the circle partner up (one with a bum shoulder) so what YHC had in mind wouldn’t work scramble to make it up as you go along. 6 of 7 partner up and go to 4 points of circle, 5 partner sit and stands run the circle repeat after 2 or 3 of these YHC audibles to Booyah Merkins and run the circle until times up.

    Numbers/Names YHC took us out

    NMS:

If you are the one caught with the potato at the end of the game you write the BB. Yah me!!

It was a great morning for a hot potato, YHC was running behind and came into AO a little hot. Glad to see that the start was a bit delayed (by seconds) while the hot potato decision was made. Thanks Sippy Cup for being the leader and taking charge.

Death Valley is so named because you could get lost in the plush meadows of tall weeds that Richmond tax dollars are not being used to mow. I hope we don’t end up with Chiggers. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Chiggers, they are a tiny mite that lives in tall grass and lay their eggs in warm-blooded animals that pass through their living space. The larvae cause skin irritation, so if you’re itchy and have small spots on your arms and legs, blame Face Plant.

    Notes and Prayers:

    Camp out – September 21 – 23

    For BRR brothers

For all those that are going through tough times right now, if God is with you who could be against you?

    NMS:

Thanks Sippy cup for being the Co-Q this morning, keeping my count and providing the light to stay on the path.

YHC does apologize to the PAX for dropping the ball as the camera operator today.

YHC also has to clear up a post workout conversation. I did not Q the ball and Chain at every AO on the summer tour only 3 of the 4 nano regions. I couldn’t use it at Twin Team because they where in my car which was in the shop.
