COT Names and numbers, YHC took us out

Welcome back to Clavin who’s been on the DL for a while.

YHC’s VQ. I am grateful to be welcomed into such a great group of people and honored to be able to contribute. Overall I am satisfied with how the workout went today considering it was my first Q. I think I would skip the Four Corners Regular if I had to do it over. I wasn’t quite sure how the timing was going to work. Blackjack ate up a good amount at the end and we hit 45 minutes almost on the dot.

I’d like to say that was exactly how I planned it but mostly it was serendipity! Great work everybody!

    Moleskin

The constitency of the usual suspects has become routine, although Swirly’s knee issues seem to be reaching that same level of constituency, Dude, a couple more days off is not going to kill you(Kettle Bells might be a good option)

    Bleeder out

  • A 4Q mismash

4 regulars arrived in the gloom for what is becoming a Batteau tradition–a Hot Potato Q.  We began with:

    COP

Swirly Q:  SSH, Imperial walkers, Don Quixote, Merkins, LBCs, Flutter Kicks.

Then head to the circle–run around circle and then do 10 Dips, 10 incline merkins on picnic benches.  Repeat 2x, increasing reps by 10 each time.

Bleeder Q:  Head to tennis courts for a series of double wide court suicides (5 touches each suicide).  Regular suicide, Forward-backwards suicide, Lunge across, backwards lunge back.  All backwards suicide, Regular suicide.

Sippy Q:  Jump diagonal sideways forward and backwards between side line and doubles side line across court and back.  Repeat, hopping on one leg this time.  Jog a lap. Then Agility Dots (jump to 4 corners of a small imaginary box jumping in an hourglass pattern).   Both legs, clockwise (10x), Both legs counterclockwise (10x).  Right leg clockwise and counterclockwise (2 times 5x), then left leg (2 times 5x).  Take a lap. Broad jump across both courts and back.  Lunge across both courts, backwards lunge back.

    Bootleg Q:  4 corners:  Merkins 20, 15,10, 5.  WW2s 20, 15, 10, 5.  Burpees, 4,3,2,1.

Mosey to flag for a ring of fire.

    COT:  Bleeder took us out.

    Naked Moleskin.

Lots of leg work today, including the agility dots which require a bit of coordination and stabilizing muscles.  There was a bit of flopping around. We also avoided the snow.

Swirly took us right into the wind to start the workout–there was some griping about this.  Bleeder got him back by running the suicides–ask Swirly about the powerful combination of foot blisters and suicides.  Bleeder is getting fast and pushed YHC on quite a few occasions today.  YHC (Sippy) cannot run backwards fast, or lunge forwards fast.  But he can run forwards fast and lunge backwards fast.  Weird.  Bootleg’s persistence is paying off–his suicide runs were speedy.

It was a good morning, gentlemen.

    Moleskin

YHC was patiently waiting while 7 deer were grazing by the field by the stone house, at 0527 YHC thought perhaps it might be a solo effort this am. At 0529, Sippy rolled in to disperse the deer.

Mumblechatter was light this am due to the fact while one of us was counting the other was doing cadence; although, discussions of the 100K were prevalent during the first mosey.

Congrats to TYA and Swirly for doing something that YHC will never do while still sane.

At each light post complete 20 LBC (the total was some where around seven thousand) to the half way point then 10 Lt. Dan to complete the circle of light posts in the parking lot.  After everyone’s hamstrings shot off, we called it a morning.

Bleeder – Mosey back to flag.

    Ring of Fire

Namerama, numberama, Bleeder led us out.

News: Swirly was given the following explicit instructions; “Be careful, be safe and enjoy his 100K this weekend.  Also, if you don’t win then go ahead and get a membership to Victory Lady Fitness.”  Please wish him luck this week as he and TYA are running a 100K race this weekend.  They’ve put in the miles, now it’s just time to breathe and glide.

HDHH at Almost Marv’s House – TYA and Marv are doing their best Fixer Upper impersonation and renovated a house together.  Amzaingly they are still together despite what the tabloids say.  To celebrate the completion of the house, love eternal and their new line of bro specific home decor at Target, the November HDHH will be at 705 Baldwin Road, RVA 23229.  The only way to get the blessing from Marv’s M for this to even happen is to have a waiver signed by everyone in the house that they will not subject their plumbing to an upper decker or dry dock.  Everything else is fair game.

Moleskin: Way to push fellas!  Outstanding effort today.

    Moleskin:

While YHC’s official first posting was at a Toga Q @ No Toll in the spring – the 6 month break before coming back on 11/21/16 didn’t make it seem right to count as a 1-year anniversary. So today was the 1-year (minus 1 day) anniversary of my second ever F3 workout! I remember very vividly an EF Hutton Q that involved doing a DORA on THOIR – I thought I would die, and definitely dry-heaved multiple times. Today was a shout-out to that workout, with a little love thrown Lab Rat’s way for the Proper Dora’s. Check out the original post for the inspiration of today’s beatdown:

EF is angry today, my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli

The PAX crushed it today – big shout-out to Winklevoss and Bootleg for enduring the run heavy workout today. I feel your pain…keep pushing, it never gets easy but you do get to do more! Not too much mumble-chatter today, but YHC and Lab Rat managed to discuss brewing in short spurts on the way up/down THOIR and YHC overheard some conversation between Swirly and Lab Rat on RVA created workouts.

Thanks for one great year, and here’s to growing more in the next!

Why walk when you can wheelbarrow?

A quiet morning by most standards; however, the Mumble Chatter started when YHC asked Swirly about which night he was planning on attending the Nutcracker with his family. YHC had no idea what huge fan of the Richmond Ballet that Swirly has become. He went on to explain how the Nutcracker was one of his favorite an annual events in Richmond and that he always looked forward to it each and every year; and, with so many performances to choose from each December, he was challenged to be able to only attend one performance.

Glad to Have Serrano and Marmaduke up from farther Southside this am. YHC hopes that you didn’t wake up too many neighbors when you pulled into Wilson’s driveway and Laid on the horn upon your return to the neighborhood.

  • HPQ

Four Pax arrived early to the AO to start their week right.  No one signed up, so we had a Hot Potato Q (HPQ).

Swirly led off with the COP–SSH, Don Quixotes, Helicopters, Imperial Walkers, LBCs Merkins (10x).  Mosey over to the tennis courts for a merkin 4 corners.  10x Merkins, 10x hand-release merkins, 10x Werkins, 10x Clerkins.  Everyone stays together, and the circuit was done 4x.

Sippy Cup led the PAX over to the rock pile.  Eeach PAX grabbed a rock and carried it  back to the tennis courts.  Elbow plank with rock on back while partner does double-wide court suicides.  Flip.  Done a second time with regular plank.  Then 16x crossover merkins and, on the grass, 25x Tenderizers.

Wheelbarrow led the PAX with  rocks over to the playgrounds for a Rock-Zombie Walk-IndianRun-Pullup.  PAX lunges around perimeter of playground with rocks.  PAX  in front puts rock down and runs to pullup bars and executes 3x pullups, then returns to end of line and then grabs rock lunges.  We circled the playground in this fashion.

Bootleg led the pax on a quadruple-check.  Run to flagpole and back with Merkins, LBCs and Squats with rock.  One rotation completed–

Mosey to the rock pile and back to the VSF.

    COT.  Wheelbarrow took us out.

    Moleskin

The light at the end of the workout was nice.  The PAX was all business today, with little mumblechatter.  Way to get it done, gentlemen!   Bootleg got to dip his toe into the Q pool and proved he’ll be ready to Q very soon.

196 certified merkins + those done on Bootleg’s quadruple check.
