  • Scavenger Hunt

When you have a fierce group of men, you don’t treat them like babies and give them step-by-step instructions. You treat them like teenagers, and give them a Scavenger Hunt – teens love that crap.  These Westhoian Warriors, and a speed demon called Doozy, were challenged to find a Covered Bridge, a Publix, a Waffle House (Westhoe’s finest new establishment, besides Perry’s), a Dunkin and to run a loop around John Ralph Square.  Any order.  Any way possible.  Improvise & Adapt.  Overcome & Get ‘Er Done.  Some ran to all 5 locations and earned a Gold Star.  Doozy and Gypsy really went for it and made the task harder intentionally.  Pigskin found one item on the list and then did whatever he wanted.  Who’s gonna stop him?!   And just like teenagers, some just walked around and talked.  In short, it was Amazing.

    Announcements:

It’s Grow Ruck time.  Only hours away!

Cul-de-sac Series. This is a running event/group/thing. They get together every Monday night in July. Gypsy could use a training partner for intervals. If you have an interest, hit up Gypsy.

Westhoe Shield Lock is starting a new book, 12 Rules for Life.  It’s a great time to jump in and join us.

Prayers for creative new ways to help bring in FNGs, so they can get what we so freely enjoy.  And prayers for safety and spiritual growth for all Grow Ruckers this wkend.

    See y’all at the Convergence!

  • Glen Eagles Hills

Eight of us gathered on a crisp spring morning for a run/walk session. Four of us, inspired by Mr. Rogers’ discovery, took on the challenge of running Glen Eagles Drive, complete with its inviting cul-de-sacs—a route thoroughly enjoyed by all. Meanwhile, Blue Moon and Pig Skin circled the school grounds, and E.F. Hutton was rucking in preparation for May 4th, with Handshake providing companionship. The runners logged five miles in total. At the conclusion, we gathered to send our prayers for Gypsy’s success in his upcoming half-marathon—a challenge he triumphantly met.

  • Aircraft Carrier Landing

Rather than explain today’s route, YHC ran out front and signaled each turn as if directing a fighter jet landing at sea.  Here’s where we landed:

    The Route

    • R on Pump
    • L on John Rolfe
    • R at Rico’s and through the woods to TLL
    • Loop around the TSI building and out Little League Drive
    • L on Copperas
    • L on Ridgefield
    • R on Old Prescott and back to the Shovel Flag
    • Loop of Godwin for those out front

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

No new roads added to the repertoire this week, but some off-roading added a little spice.  Slightly disappointed the PAX didn’t have to go full Parkour exiting the TLL complex.  Wally and Lulu said enough of your rambling and called the COT to a close.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • GTE – still time to sign up
    • Good luck to the Monument 10k-ers
  • Finding New Hills

The Currahee PAX has come to expect that an EF Hutton route is probably a little complex so best to just follow on foot.  Here’s where they went:

    The Route

    • R on Pump
    • R on Ridgefield
    • R on Raintree
    • R on Cherrywood
    • L on Cedarbluff
    • L on Waltham
    • Bear R to stay on Waltham
    • Continue on Clearwood
    • L on Gayton
    • L on Gayton again
    • R on Raintree
    • L on Maremont or Windbluff and back to the Shovel Flag

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

YHC found a new loop south of Gayton, but damn those hills.  A proper amount of suck so YHC isn’t tempted to run it again.  Lesson of the day, use spell check.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • GTE – still time to sign up
    • Prayers for Doozy’s uncles
  • What the Hill!!

    The last will be 1st

3rd F: was pumped to see Roger Roger back in Gloom with us after an extended IR from an unfortunate Pickleball accident that landed him in surgery. Today was his 1st F3 post since and he crushed a nasty beatdown… and oh yeah.. took us out in an inspired 3rd F COT ball of man.

Mr Rogers is leading a 3rd F every Tuesday at 7pm at Dunkin Donuts on Paterson and Pump

2nd F: Grow Ruck.. Nuf said. Either ruck or support. Both are needed.

Ghost flag event: Westhoe is worried about it.. nobody comes this way. YHC thinks we could take our WTH on Wednesday and take out SOJ.

    1st F: The Thag

It’s no secret I love my Currahee brothers.. would step out in traffic for any one of them. But damn dudes!! Seriously!! I gave us an out.. was like.. we can do Crazy 8, homage to Handshake since he was suffering with vacation at the beach with pump to Broad routes (sorry to hear about the towed car) or we can do hill repeats since I’m in last min training. Due to the brutal Westhoe beatdowns this week. (Some not posted hint hint Lighthouse.. like the parking deck at WTH).. the Burpeethon at a kettlebell workout.. the pax decided hill repeats… let’s keep this week long beatdown going.

6 stubborn ass Redwoods took to the hills of Currahee. The plan was Glenn Eagles AYG up and recovering down.. that is .8 miles up .8 back. Rinse and repeat until time. We did one. YHC called an audible at 1st one and we did 3 additional AYG and back on Old Prescott.

YHC was showing 524 ft of elevation gain and 5 miles.

    Great job men.

Thank you for let me lead.

    V/r

    John (Gypsy) Boles

  • Currahee Bro-Code

9 pax showed up and finished together. It was the last Friday of the month meaning Bro-Code route.

3 I/R did loops of the AO and 6 took off on a COT for a 4 mile loop.

Thank you Pinto for taking us out in Prayer.

All done! Let’s go get coffee and Donuts

Would love to get more creative, but YHC has to get to work.

  • Call your mother

Eight braved the cold this morning. The runners (Doozy, Gypsy, Mr. Rogers and YHC) took left on Ridgefield and went for 22 minutes or all the way to the end and back, about 5 miles. Hutton did rucking on account of recovering from his illness and Handshake kept him company. Pigskin and Blue Moon did usual circles around the school. Afterwards there was a fascinating conversation about grooming. Pigskin closed us out reminding to call our mothers (or other close people).

  • Where’s Baldo?

    Where’s Baldo?

Eight joined up this morning for some running and/or walking and/or exercises around the school. We ran north up Pump and stayed left on (old) Pump, took a left on Robson, left on Sable, left on Waterford, left on Church and came back either via Glen Eagles or Pump. 5 miles if you went back Glen Eagles.

At coffee, we talked about testicles, disposable camera pranks and a future best seller which is either a book filled with lots of photos of nuts and you need to search for a particular pair or a more true variation of Where’s Waldo but Waldo is hanging brain and you need to find his red and white striped balls. And as I think of it, our route looked like a couple of weirdly shaped balls. So where is Baldo anyway and is he wearing pants?

  • We’ll Just Follow You

As YHC recited the route, the PAX’s faces went numb and their eyes glazed over.  Only Whitesnake understood the assignment.  Here’s where they went:

    The Route

    • L on Pump
    • L on Sancrest
    • L on Windingridge to Hickoryridge
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Raintreee
    • Loop Deepwood Cir
    • R on Raintree
    • Loop Raintree Lake
    • R on Raintree
    • L on Maremont and back to the Shovel Flag

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

YHC tries to add one new road to each Currahee route.  Today we did Deepwood, insert Beavis and Butthead laugh.  Next time we’ll look for Beaverhole.  Great to have Tonka back at Currahee and Bodos visiting.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • GTE – still time to sign up
    • 2nd F lunches next week SOJ (Oyster’s house?) and Westhoe (Firehouse Subs)
  • Candy anyone?

Seven woke up this morning and decided that it is a good day for a run. Someone have promised us intervals, but did not sign up for the Q. So, we discovered that there was no Q. YHC has volunteered to select the route and chose the Handshake route: up along the Pump toward Broad Street, turn either at Three Chopt, part, or Broad Street, and come back to the flag. The Broad Street group got 5.2 miles, others did a bit less.

YHC did not observe it, but was told that even though a car had another lane and runners went to the sidewalk as it approached, instead of taking another lane the car has stopped. People were wondering if next they would be offered some candy and invited for a ride, unfortunately it did not happen. No one came out. So, the group just continued on running.

    Have a great day everyone!
