  • Flag Route

Seven of YHC’s brothers from other mothers hit the streets of Raintree.  Here’s where they went:

    The Route

    • L on Pump
    • L on Falconbridge
    • R on Raintree
    • Circle pond behind Raintree Swim and Racquet Club
    • Continue on Raintree to Gayton
    • Reverso and repeato pond loop
    • L on Maremont
    • Back to SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Strong work by all.  Wally was not a fan of the route or maybe the weather, or maybe both.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Prayers for the struggles men face
    • Shoe drive coming
  • It’s a Route and a Lifestyle

Eight bionic men assembled for the latest edition of Currahee. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to the other two guys who run from Currahee at 5:30, the following might have happened.

Bro-Code, both a route and a style. Or, more specifically, reverse bro-code with, apparently, a missed turn. Who knows.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out with a reminder that stress in life can produce unnecessary tension. When under stress, intentionally increase patience and understanding.

NMS: Lulu was in full stride today, as was Wally, whose first name is actually William, but the nickname comes from his second name, Wallace. Ah. Last name, Parker. Fierce beasts all around.

Good to have lots of guys back. Nice to see Handshake post at Currahee. New guys always welcome, eh Fudd?

  • Better with the lights on

8 Redwoods gathered in the gloom for a dark run in the park for the Brookmont run: .
5 milers head out or the batcave, Left on Raintree, right on Falconbridge, around the park to the right, exit thru turtlecreek, right on Cox, left on Brookmont, right at crowncrest and left on pump. 4 milers go left on Cox, right on ridgefield, and back thru the batcave.

EF Hutton took us out. Prayers for healing and reminder to reach out to check on your brothers.   Coffeeteria at Dunkin’

9 year convergence Sat at Crucible  Sit N Sip cancelled

NMS – what a great route – with a headlamp, tough to keep your speed up when you cannot see.  Pigskin regained us in what the world looked like in black and white. Handshake realized that everyone older than him is not a Boomer.

  • O O Susanna!

10 Redwoods met to run the mean streets of the West End on a beautiful cool morning.  The route was one of our best:  5 milers Pump, Church, across Gayton ES, to Poplar Forest and return on Ridgefield.  4 mi, peel off at Copperas.

YHC took us out.  Prayers for Gypsy’s 2.0, those that litter the earth, those that need a helping hand.

    2nd F Coffeeteria at Dunkin.

    Announcements:

    • Workout for Liv 6/16 7a @ Alamo
    • 5k in Westham, 6/16 8:30, see slack
    • Convergence at Crucible 7:30 6/23 – come celebrate the 9th anniversary of F3 RVA!
    • Sit N Sip 6/23 2p in Amelia. DM Gomer on slack for details.

NMS – Interesting how times have changed.  Eons ago boys would be boys (and that was not great for anyone, really).  in our lifetimes we kicked people out of their jobs for being over friendly (and worse, justifiably).  Soon it will be strange for candidates to have missed out on getting their youthful pics and acts on paid sites for Fans.  All for a good cause -or- senseless/demeaning – depending on who your friends are.

  • Crazy 8

Another Friday and another route out of Goodwin HS for RVAs best running AO: Currahee.

we went for the hill at the end this time and pulled out the Crazy 8. A 5+ mile course with Glenn Eagles uphill at mile 3.5 just for fun.

Great conversation pace and interesting topics along the way.

    see you guys next week.

  • Adventurousless

With no volunteer Q, the first to speak picked the Handshake. Right on Pump, straight to JRP Left on Pump, back on JRP/Pump 4.5 return on 3 Chopt, 5 return thru the park, 6 go to broad.

Hutton took us out.  Dunkin’ for 2f.

NMS – the handshake scores low on the Currahee route creativity scale, only bested by the out and back on Ridgefield and the out and back on Pump. But it is challenging to great list and safely devoid of adventure. In truth, this extreme simplicity also adds a level of apparent safety despite the west end drivers with high beams shunning on runners.

  • Nope.. don’t know him either

Another month down which means last Friday Bro-code route. Good crew coalesced on a humid August morning to knock out 4 miles at a conventional pace and turn backs at the corners for the 6.

Conversation ranged to 1st week of school to college drop offs to names of guys in the MLB.

Conclusion… there are no current house hold MLB plays right now and Hutton named off a bunch of them. We didn’t know any of them.

way to many announcements to remember. Gomer just kept tossing more and more of them so talk to him about sit and sip, convergence help, Crucible gathering, at 9am 5k somewhere and I think a cook out in SOJ??

Anyway… see ya in the Gloom!

YHC is off to VMI to drop off a 1st for his last semester.

  • My Balls Was Hot

Confused by Gypsy’s assertion that the route was a line, 8 studs launched to find it was definitely not a line.  Here’s where they went:

    The Route

    • R on Pump
    • R on Buffapple
    • L on Singingwoods
    • R on Brookmont
    • L on Cox all the way to the end and back
    • L on Ridgefield
    • R on Falconbridge
    • R on Pump
    • Back to SF

    Numberama, Nameorama, COT

    MOLESKIN

Guys fresh of vacation, pups coming of the IR, various health issues, hills, and an overabundance of ball sweat made for a tough run today.  All made it back safely, however.  YHC will wear dark shorts henceforth.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • CSAUP southside tomorrow
    • Pickleball next Saturday
    • Convergence Labor Day
    • Prayers for Boberry’s dad, Doozy’s neighbor, Gypsy
  • F3 is an Ark

With only 3 men present (and a dog), we took off to the North, out of habit really. Since everyone was amenable to running the hills and dead ends off of Glen Eagles Dr., that’s what we did – followed by a couple of laps around John Rolfe Square, before a return to Godwin HS.

But along the way, we had a robust conversation about religion: naive faith vs. cynical skepticism, strict vs. loose interpretations of spiritual writings, and the benefits of vs. the catastrophes caused by faith. We touched on the story of Noah’s Ark. When the Flood (the chaos of life) came, it was wise to turn to God (truth, selflessness, cooperation, empathy) and to get on the Ark. The Ark is shelter from the storm. Pinto made an insightful observation that if 9/11 made us stronger by drawing us together, the pandemic had a very different impact because so many were isolated, and isolation harms us. Togetherness is an Ark. Family is an Ark. Faith is an Ark. F3 is an Ark. The storms will come and we are blessed to have these sanctuaries with which to turn.

Not a bad way to start the day. Thanks for the company, the discussion and the run Pinto and Lighthouse.

As usual, I missed the COT, due to needing to get to work, but Lighthouse informed me later that it was business as usual.

Announcement: Come join myself, Blue Moon, Warhol and Probation at the Dunkin’ on Lauderdale Drive on Tuesdays at 7pm. We’re Shield Locking, discussing spiritual matters and lifting each other up. Like Howard Ruff said, ‘”It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.” Come on out!

    SYITG!

  • Hills and God

Great morning to run for the Friday morning runners. Small group today so Mr Rogers decided that we should do hills, ran over to Glen Eagle hit several streets with hills to climb up and return back down, then over to Pump and a few circles around John Rolf Square. Much discussion today about religion, the origin, study and belief of faith. How literal and Academics dissect Christ and Gods existence mostly relating to Heaven and Hell today. Nice run, 5.25 miles covered at an 8:34 pace.
