  • Stonefaced Anger

Three of the area’s finest runners, including a visitor, sat in their cars until the rain faded for today’s Currahee. The route was a simple 5 miler with some bro code mixed in. Old glory made an appearance today and it was passed amongst the three of us. One of Henrico’s finest acknowledged the stars and stripes with a flash of the lights while driving past. All in all, a great run with a small group of dedicated individuals. Thanks for making the effort so YHC didn’t have to carry that flag solo.

Handshake was clearly steaming when he got out of the car and realized he would likely be running solo. That energy fueled him today. Way to crush it.

Marv took us out in a way only Marv can do. Well said.

  • The Bro-Code run

Last Friday of the month is always a Bro-code run at Currahee. All paces run the same route, but we all finish at the same time. This is due to the circle back for the 6 at each major turn. Some pax will get 4 miles and other will get 5.5, but the over all rule is we always circle back for the 6 along the way and not wait until the finish line.

Bro-Code run tends to turn into a COT between like speed running partners and this week was no different. Lots of mumble chatter on the route. but much of it was COT between pax members. One piece YHC can share is the Johnsonville LOVES the hills and wants all pax members to know that if he is running with you, he wants lots more hill training. 🙂

The route for the Bro-Code in June:
Right out of Goodwin on Pump
    Left onto Ridgefield
    Right onto Copparas
    Right onto Church
    Right onto Pump
    Left into Godwin.

Lots of up coming opportunities in the RVA area in coming weeks:
6/29 – Ultimate Frisbee at Daville (Atlee HS – mtg at teacher lot behind school)
    6/29 – Drinks w Fudd at The Answer (5-8p)
6/30 – Lockjaw Paddle after work (PM him)
    7/1 – Start of Summer Tour 2021
7/1 – Ultimate Frisbee at the Forge
    7/3 – 7am Dogpile Convergence (CB on Q)
    7/8 – F3RVA Town Hall at 8pm (location TBD)
    7/10 – Puppypile following Dogpile
7/17 – Hitch House Party at 5:30p AYE!
7/31 – The Fling Squirrels game. DM BoneThugz for more info

Thank you for the opportunity to lead the Bro-Code Run.

As always: call a pax member you have not heard from. it may be just what he needed today.

  • Freedom

Nine nimble giants broke the chains of the fartsack for a Juneteenth free run.

5 mile route – Brookmont Standard, through Raintree, DRP, Cox, Brookmont, Crowncrest and return on Pump

4 mile route – Raintree through DRP to Dover Hunt, Cox, Brookmont, Buffapple and return on Pump.

NMS – Marcus, Lighthouse and YHC focused on running – not much mumble chatter. Good to see Johnsonville back out after a break. Welcome to Fireman Ed for his first jaunt with the Currahee crew.

    Currahee!

  • Who needs rain

    No rain but 100% humidity.

    • Probation and YHC took on the 5.5 with a few extra.

    • Left on pump
    • Right on Broad (or three chop for 4 miler)
    • Right on John Rolfe

    Great running with you guys.

  • Honeydo, where are you?

A group of 7 men gathered for a 4th Friday Bro Code run. Gomer texted earlier this week saying he’d be out of town, so Handshake grabbed the Q. We completed and “out back” run. Here was the route: Mosey to behind the school to the trail over to Maremont Drive, right on Willowick, left on Windbluff, right on Raintree, left on Gayton, right on Gayton, right on Gaskins to Westhampton Memorial Park for a small loop around on of the sections of the Cemetery. Reverso.

Announcements: Memorial Day Convergence at Tredegar Monday at 0700.

Prayer Requests: with Memorial Day on Monday prayers for those who have given their life in the service of our country.

NMS – It was a nice morning with the Crew. It was nice to see Greenbow out. Blue Moon used Currahee as a nice pre-run for his training. During the run YHC found out Pinto’s mother and Sprinters grandfather are both buried at Westhampton Backblast title comes for Honeydo’s text yesterday saying “Up for running 4.5 tomorrow” and then he was a no-show. Not sure if he meant with us or not, but I look forward to seeing if he showed up at RAMM.

  • The Bridge to Nowhere

Six of our finest gathered at the home of the Eagles to question if anyone wanted to take the Q. After YHC arrived and declared he signed up, forgot, then was reminded this morning of his volunteer for the Q, we discussed the route and off we went. Goal was negative splits

    The Route
    – Meander through Glen Eagles over to Ridgefield
    – Left on Ridgefield
    – All the way to Tuckahoe Creek Park and across the bridge
    – Go as far as you can in 23 minutes then return in 22 minutes
    – Grunt and groan up the 4 hills back to Godwin

    Announcements
    – Memorial Day convergence 7am @ Tredegar

    Moleskin
The goal today was negative splits. Handshake quickly dismissed his result as 22 out and 23 back but upon further review, realized he indeed accomplished negative splits. Well on your way to the 6 mile group.

There was some interesting banter pre-BoM about attention to detail on a series of texts from yesterday. Post prayer, the record was checked and accusations of lack of attention to detail were recanted. All is now well in the world. Some of us may make mistakes, but we are always confident in them.

Great running today men. Thanks for letting me lead.

    Splinter out.

  • Up hill to Church both ways

No much time to write a BB today. Gotta hit the road to pick up the 2.1 from college.

1st F: How it went down:
Easy routes this morning at the land of Currahee and with just Splinter and I today, we decided to long option.
    Right out of Godwin
Up Pump (up hill to Church)
    Left to stay on Pump.
    Right on Broad
Right on John Rolfe (up hill to Church again)
    Left in to Godwin.
    5.2 miles over 40 mins.

2nd F on at a running AO is found in the comz you have with your running group. You find out the little things about each other, like what types of animals you have, kids names, etc. But its like an extend COT… so you know the rules of a COT.. what is said in COT stays in a COT. Gotta show to know.

Thanks for running with me this morning Splinter.

  • Currahee anniversary

Eleven elites broke the bounds of the fartsack to enjoy the cooler temps and celebrate the 1 year anniversary of this AO with a run.

5 milers – Maremont, Raintree, Falconbridge, JRP, cut through apartments & townhomes, Flintwood, Falconbridge, Pump. 5.5

4 milers – Maremont, Raintree, Falconbridge, JRP, cut through apartments, Ridgefield, Pump. 4.2

YHC took us out – prayers for the PAX.

NMS- great to see everyone out especially some new attendees from SOJ and the ville. Welcome to new-to-Currahee PAX Blue Moon, Shakedown, and Corned Beef.

We have been running Currahee for a year now. Special thanks to all PAX who are willing to explore and see what this AO offers and the regulars that keep it alive. Spread the word.

Tomorrow marks the 76th anniversary of V-E day. Think about what that means. The US military was part of a team of Allies, and especially consider that despite the cost to our nation, we did not conquer, but gave our gains back to the people. That will always set USA apart from other nations.

    Currahee!

  • More beer, more beer

Ten Titans beat the allures of the comfy bed to meet in the gloom for a 4.5 brocode run in prep for the beach bodies competition. The route was north on Pump and back on JRP.

YHC took us out. Prayers for Clint and Christine.

NMS – Next week is the official anniversary of this AO. Its been fun seeing it grow and great to have some new brothers out. Welcome Homer and Offshore.

YHC likes Brocode because it gives folks (most folks anyway) a chance to chat, at the expense of a fitness bending workout. Somehow Ziggy still rated it as PRODUCTIVE, which is strange since there have been so many harder runs that were rated lower.

BB title courtesy of Homer. He sure has a way with words – a great mantra through the low points of a workout.

    Currahee!

  • Currahee Comet

7 fearless studs emerged from the gloom to shake off last nights beer induced cloud and attack the day on a crisp cool morning.

5ers – West on Ridgefield to Pine Run, traverse through Gayton ES, East on Church to Pump and return

4ers  – West Ridgefield to Copperas to church, or whatever feels good.

    Probation took us out.

Prayers for EF Hutton as he recovers.

NMS – great morning and maybe the last cool morning for Currahee. Some of the PAX caught an object breaking up in the atmosphere. We think it was part of the spaceX launch. What was really neat is that we were heading due east on Church Road and it was in line with the road (rather far away) in the perfectly clear blue pre sunrise sky and framed by the dark trees on the left and right.  We might have caught MICO stage separation, and second engine start.  YHC worked at NASA and has seen plenty of video from behind the spacecraft.  This is the first time we had an oblique view – pretty cool.  Nice Respect Day present.

YHC is starting the 5th year with F3.  What a great brotherhood.  Your mission is to bring one more to the brotherhood this year.

    Currahee!
