Six svelte west end stallions met for a nice tour on a feels much colder than 48F morning. Here is the route from the clipboard said:

IR Route was a little like this.

Still not sure what route Handshake took (or was planning), but sometimes thats what you get when you LIFO a running AO. ** Updated with handshake route.  This is a sturdy one.

Handshake took us out. Prayers for Upchuck’s M, GP’s M, and others at this time of year.

NMS – based on some past experience YHC breathed a sigh of relief when the overdue PAX made it back without any wrong turns. Route was a little long, but YHC was aiming to make it straightforward and its a great route with two fitness tests at the end. Definitely among YHC favorite Currahee routes. Accused of staging a clipboard Q, YHC is reminded that its 45 minutes of movement and that means that a 2 mi IR route is just fine and in fact suggested to increase workout participation.

Coffeeteria was fun with a lively conversation and maybe a few over explanations in our 2 hour marathon.

Merry Christmas to all. Reach out to friends that might be having a less than jovial Christmas. This is a tough time of year for those that are missing loved ones for the first time or that are feeling alone. Dont let anyone you care about feel like they are alone.

We had an exceptional morning out at Curahee! The pax showed up on this fine morning to put in some miles. The route was altered by Roger Roger to include 5 loops for the 5 mile group and 2 loops for the 4 mile group. With some doing 5.5 miles and some logging 4.5 miles. YHC covered 5.2 miles with the rest of the pax.

The route- leave Curahee with a left on pump rd, left on sancrest, left on winding ridge, continue straight across falconbridge weaving our way through hickory ridge and back across falconbridge into willow glen, continue straight and it hits the loopy hill around logwood cir. 4 miles equals two .4 mi laps. 5 milers complete 5 .4 mile loops then the reverse back to the AO.

The temperature was fantastic and the company was even better.

The Route. RT Pump, RT crowncrest, LT brookmont, RT Cox, LT Turtle Creek, straight through the light onto Flintwood, RT Falconbridge, RT HickoryRidge, RT Sancrest, RT Pump and back to the flag!

Thanks for listing me host this hilly adventure.

3 PAX rose up early for a bro-code 5.7 mile trot that meandered through the West End neighborhoods. We stayed together and dug deep while working off that chocolate, pumpkin, and apple pie we indulged in. It was a beautiful morning for a run. Orien was out and the stars were bright! As we went down Pump rd into Waterford and around the lake back to the flag via pump rd. Have a blessed weekend everyone! Thanks for letting me host!

  • A man of his word

3rd F: There is planning for a 3rd F convergence on 12/31. A few of the regions around RVA hold small faith-based discussion groups weekly and we are looking to expand upon it a few times a year with a 3rd F convergence. More details to come in the next few weeks.

YHC will be collecting men’s clothes and gently used shoes in the month of December.

2nd F: Black Friday loops… See TYA for details. but it sounds like lots of running while the Ms go shopping.

    1st F: The thang… ITs a running AO… so we ran.

We started off with a slow warm up. Knowing Handshake committed to coming out this morning and he was not around at 530, we kept the warm up close by the AO launch point. If there is one thing YHC has learned about Handshake since moving here to Richmond is that he is a man of his word…
Sure enough… 4 mins late… but he jumps out and is ready to go… time to redirect to the main event over at the Godwin track.

A couple of laps around the track for a warm up then we get to work.

5 x 400 meter AYG. recovery of 30 seconds after the 6 finishes
    4 x 200 meter AYG. recovery jog 200 meter.
4 x 100 meter sprint the straight, 100 meter walk the turn, 100 meter straight, 100 meter turn.

a little over 3 miles of track work and a 1 mile warm up.

Track work is not fun but it’s essential to help develop your top end race speeds. Not much mumblechatter today since we were all focused on breathing after the sprints and the recovers were just long enough to allow max effort on next interval. I appreciate my brothers in the gloom meeting me out there this morning.

NMS: Some talk this morning about taking WhaThoHuk off the national map.. (turn it into an off the book tweet and meet.) low attendance now that the crew that started it up has moved to central Richmond and SOJ. As well as some of the former regulars cant make it to this Wednesday AO any longer. Speak up if you want to take lead of this AO before we pull the plug.

Thank you for allowing me to lead this morning

Told to Follow…. Freed to lead.

  • Leading from Behind

Started out by going behind the school, then taking foot path to Maremont, right on Raintree, right on Windbluff, right on Willowick back to the footpath. This ‘block’ is roughly .75 miles.

Next, we finished the route around the school to Pump road, right on Pump to John Rolfe, left on John Rolfe to Glen Eagles, left on Glen Eagles to Ridgefield. Crossed Ridgefield and stayed on Glen Eagles to Old Prescott, left on Old Prescott back to the school. This section was roughly 2.75 miles. Counting the loop around the school we went about 3+ miles.

At this point, we were about 3.8 or 3.9 miles. Then we went around the school and added maybe another .9 mile. Total route was about 4.75 miles. Most of the route was either on sidewalks or on non-busy streets.

Handshake advised me when I used Map My Run to look for the clouds as it rained on us pretty good at the start.

I led from behind as I’m the slowest, but the pax are very supportive, for which I am grateful. Gypsy ran more than I did because he doubled back to pick me up more than once.

  • Anybody motivated to run?

3 PAX came out to Currahee in the first day of below freezing temps of the season. YHC took the Q with a lead from behind directions style. Route: Left down Pump, turn L on Falconbridge and over to Deep Run, around lake and back via Ridgefield. 3 min of stretching and then COT.

NMS: YHC pulled in first at 5:26 and wondered whether this would be a cold Solo run. Luckily Handshake and Gypsy pulled in to make the gloom tolerable.

  • Does anyone know where we are?

    3rd F (Faith)

    • Thank you Pigskin for taking us out today in prayer.
    • Starting thinking about your gently used shoes and mens business attire that you can donate in December. YHC will buy a pair of socks for each pair of shoes donated.

    2nd F (Fellowship)

    • Lots if pax in RVA are running in the Richmond half and full marathon. It will be a great opportunity to come out and cheer on your brothers of the gloom.

The Thang: Last Friday Bro-code run

Typically this means the same 4 mile loop that we do every Friday.. but Handshake wanted to do it backwards.. no harm there lets do it. The only issue is YHC can get lost on a one way road with no turns.. i stead of right hand turns around the 4 mile block it would be left.. yup. I had no idea where the turn points would be. Sooooooooo we ran for 2 miles in the ran and turned around to head back. Route was supposed to be:

    • Right out of Godwin on to Pump
    • Left onto Church
    • Left on to Copperas
    • Left on to Ridgefied
    • Right on to Pump
    • Left into AO

    what it was

    • Right out of Godwin on to Pump
    • Pass John Rolfe turn around right on to John Rolfe because it look right.
    • Down John Rolfe until we realized we are not go to find copperas.. turn at 2 mile mark..
    • Back to AO.

glad we didn’t get lost on this 2 road bro code route. ?

no NMS today.. doing BB on my cell phone and wordpress is a pain enough on a computer.

Thank you following me in the rain

  • Just a little mosey

5 pax joined in for a little mosey around the Western West end… AKA Short Pump.

We went with the Handshake route to give options for all to get anywhere from 4 to 5.5 miles.

Right out of Godwin on Pump.
    Left on to Pump
    Right onto Three Chop
    Right onto John Rolfe
    left into the AO.

YHC ran with Handshake this day. Some good Mubblechatter along the route. He just got back from his 15yr anniversary reunion of VMI. I appreciate him taking the time to find my 2.0 on campus and imparting some knowledge on him. We all know we can tell our 2.0s stuff all day long and they look at us like we have 3 heads.. but if someone else tells them the same thing its the wisest thing they have ever heard. Roger Roger, Whitesnake and Honey Do ran as pack as well.

No new announcements mentioned this day. Check Slack or Twitter for new items.

DM PigSkin to help with the FreeToBleed this month
We will be starting the RVA show Drive on December 1st.. so start saving those gently used shoes now.

Thank you for allowing me to lead the run.

  • Brocode at Currahee

Four fleet footed horsemen fought the fartsack and found a respite from the pandemi-pocolypse and met the start of fall’s cooler weather.

Bro Code route was south on Pump with a dogleg though some new neighborhoods and then return on raintree to start.

Pinto took us out. Prayers for young people as they mature as well as those working though sickness or loss of their loved ones.

NMS – Great to see folks out today. YHC is looking forward to getting fully healthy and back in the saddle. Working on a Currahee shirt after Spider Run is complete. Find a friend that needs F3 and invite them along.

    Get some.
