  • Who’s The Q?

7 Davillians and 2 summer tourists showed up for the raining summer morning workout. Around 5:30 we all looked at each other wondering who was the Q today? No one was sure who had signed up. This is where Spike decided to take on the lead and take the Q for the day.

    Here is what went down:

Mosey over to the middle school football field.

COP: 20 SSHs, 15 don quixotes, 15 hard release merkins, 25 LBCs

The Thang: PAX went to side of football field for 11’s. Begin with 1 dip on bleachers and run across field to do 10 Derkins. Repeat counting up and down for each exercise with cross field runs between exercises. Next we moved over to the elementary school bus loop. Pair up with a partner. One person runs the loop while partner was performing exercises. Collectedly each group did 100 merkins, 200 WWII sit-ups, 300 squats. Mosey back to high school parking lot.

On the way back to parking lot we ran into Dr. Tryhard who was scheduled to be our Q for the day. Apparently the website has some mis-information about the location. He had headed out to Hanover high school instead of Atlee.  Once getting to Atlee he was not able to locate the PAX so he did a solo workout.

At beginning of workout, group decided we could do a hot potato, but Spike decided to just go ahead and take on the Q on the spot. Cadence was a little off for the COP but picked it up with the workout. It was great to have a few summer tour guests this morning to join Daville. Group discussed need to get location fixed on F3 page to prevent others from going to wrong site. This is not the first time someone has been misled.

  • Google Doesn’t Go North of the Wall

Thirteen navigated their way to Atlee HS for the latest rendition of DaVille, including 2 New Marketeers, 1 City Proper, and 1 visiting Q from parts unknown.  Here’s how it went down.

    MOLESKIN

YHC can confirm seeing Google out surveying and mapping potential and existing AOs both north and south of the river, but never beyond the wall.  Apparently even Google won’t venture into the territory known as DaVille.  If one was to attempt to use Google maps to drive to Atlee HS, one is automatically redirected to Hanover HS, as Lug Nut and now BT can attest.  However, YHC did tell him last night to go to the one on Atlee Station next to Chickahominy, so BT gets full LIFO credit.  Marmaduke and Honeymoon arrived just as the clock struck 0530 after circling Chickahominy MS a couple of times.  It would seem the F3 app is also Atlee HS resistant.  Lots of groans as the PAX rolled off 144 monkey humpers, which proved to be as painful as YHC had hoped.  The air was thick and heavy in the designated area on the side of the school for wall climbs.  Also carried a pungent hint of eau de SOJ.  Hustler was a bit hesitant when called upon to help demonstrate scissor sisters, but the additional moans and groans suggest it worked out.  Or maybe that was the sounds and smells of Corned Beef and the man-eating spiders found naturally occurring at the AO.  Great to put faces with a few names YHC hadn’t previously met.

  • 2 of 5, and a VQ

14 Davillians and one visitor from Raleigh showed up to YHC’s VQ at DaVille, my second of five this week. Our story is told in what follows, and yes, I’m WAY overselling it.

Mosey to grass behind school for COP: SSH, DQ, arm circles, LBC’s, merkins, short mosey to brick wall of school for the first exercise. PAX held balls to the wall while PAX at end of line bear crawled through, all did this once.

Mosey to next building, do 1 donkey kick, run to exercise area, find a piece of equipment and do 5 derkins, run back and do 2 donkey kicks, repeat until you get to 10 donkey kicks. Mosey to basketball court, lunge to each goal and then the opposite midpoint, running back to start, each time doing 10 more LBC’s, starting with 10 at the beginning, ending with 60. Mosey to sidewalk by soccer field, find a wooden post, do 10 diamond merkins on the post, 20 heels to heaven, 10 more diamond merkins, 20 more heels to heaven.

Mosey back to flag, numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

YHC does not usually go to DaVille, as the amount of running required is anathema to YHC. YHC may have to start going more often, as even with the running this is a great AO–there were 2 more exercises on the list for today, so another Q will be necessary. Thanks to Mudface for his help and suggestions on crafting this one, and the balls to the wall exercise was thieved from him. The PAX crushed it today, especially Phonics, who led every exercise, to the point Bulkhead just said “I just do what he does.” It was great to meet Gravy, you are welcome back anytime!

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

  • The Mountain

11 fighters leaped out of the fart sack for some fun that went something like this…

Mosey around the school parking lot and then across the street into the new neighborhood. Continue to the circle and run around 4x (2x forward, 2 backward) and then back across the street behind the medical building.

COP All IC – 25 SSHs, 10 don quixotes, 10 helicopters, arm circles, 10 tempo merkins, 10 tempo LBCs, 10 copperhead squats

Mosey back across the street to the sidewalk.

    The Mountain

Partner up. One partner runs up the hill to the bridge and back. The other partner exercises for the following cumulative exercises:

    • 100 hand-release merkins
    • 200 squats
    • 300 mountain climbers
    • 400 LBCs
    • 250 SSHs/ 250 invisible jump ropes

    Mosey to the flag

Numerama, Namerama, Announcements, YHC took us out.

Announcements – Ghost flag is coming to WDog tomorrow from DaVille. 4th of July Convergence at Tredegar.

    NMS:

Gravity works. We verified that this morning on the runs up (and down) the hill to/from the bridge.

The PAX came ready for a fight and they got one. YHC took them along the normal mosey path but took a hard right and caused confusion. The multiple times around the circle (forward and backward) seemed to warm up the PAX and get them ready to rumble.

The COP was ready to start when Spit called out a bunny rabbit near the fence. YHC called for a bunny chase and counted to 3. The PAX stormed after the bunny but it escaped under the fence.

The Mountain provided an opportunity for the PAX to put “you vs. you” to the test and the PAX crushed it. Every man pushed through the runs and exercises. YHC received some words of encouragement while running up/down the hill when someone said, “I am going to kill you” and then Yardsale said, “I took up an offering this weekend to send you back to Jersey.” Sounds like YHC was able to provide a challenge!

As always, Spike and Helix were unstoppable on the run/exercise combinations. Spit suffered an injury that prevented the exercises but he more than made up for it by sprinting up/down the hill.

It was an honor to lead the PAX on a fantastic morning in DaVille!

    The Carpenter

  • If a tree falls in the gloom and there are pax members there to hear it…?

Umm, no. 8 versus 8 showed up anyways to do their best! That’s right, 16 pax to DaVille during the Home Run Derby south of the river. Color me impressed!

So, while Pick2, Marco Polo and I are sitting there at 5 until go-time wondering where everybody is….thinking this is about to be a very uninteresting game of frisbee….we hear a crack, followed by more cracking and we turn around to watch a tree in the front lawn come crashing down. No joke, that happened this morning. Right after that, Atlee high school filled up with cars, as everybody must have got stuck behind Phonics on the way to the AO (he drives slow).

At 0530, we did a slow mosey to the field and divvied up in to people that brought white shirts and those that didnt….then 2 people with both switched up. Between the multitude of horrible throws and even worse flat out drops…along with some rules violations (I blame Lab Rat for not teaching everybody the rules of the friggin game he told everybody they were going to play ahead of time), there were some really great plays made! Marco Polo had a layout grab for a point, and Spike plays defense like a boss. In the end, like always, it all comes down to the final point. Both teams gave up possesions, until finally team white got the game winner. Groans were heard on the mosey back to the flag, which means a little competition can make you push outside your comfort zone.

Welcome to Buzz Bait! A friend and fellow runner of Evil Twin’s. Glad to have you out! Now, get your dad to come next time.

Apology of the week goes out to Phonics for cutting off his annual special events breakdown this morning. Dogs and kids, homie….dogs and kids.

    Announcements:

-Summertime tour continues. Plenty of time to jump in on the action! Signup here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-L8e9W24ygnU0suaGyKxzi1PgPqY1CBd57hLrKTZI-g/edit?ts=563e70a3#gid=1083932325

-Puppy pile after Dogpile final Saturday of the month. MARV has the Q.

-4th of July workout is at Tredegar parking lot, 0700. If you are in town, come on out!

-A bunch of stuff happening in September. See Phonics for the breakdown. He will gladly list all of them.

    Lab Rat apologizes…

  • Oh no, its 0515

Mosey about 10 feet for COP. SSH, Helicopters, DQs all IC

Mosey to the Soccer field behind AHS for Jack Webb abs. 1 WWII followed by 4 reverse crunches. 2 WWII followed by 8 reverse crunches. All the way up to 10 WWII followed by 40 reverse crunches. (The PAX can thank Chum for that one)

Mosey to corner of soccer field for for corners. Corner 1=10 burpees. Corner 2=10 burpees, 20 LBCs. Corner 3=10 burpees, 20 LBCs, 30 merkins. Corner 4=10 burpees, 20 LBCs, 30 merkins and 40 squats.

Mosey to BBALL courts for suicides. Regular and Reverse with 15 LBCs after each.

Mosey to school wall for Chicken Pecker Line of Fire. Each PAX perform 10 Chicken Peckers while the rest of PAX holds BTTW.

Mosey to front of school for LT Dans across the front of school.

    AYG back to the flag.

Numerama, Namearama and YHC took us out with a prayer to challenge ourselves and our children. Showing our 2.0s how to handle adversity properly is one example of how we can become better fathers.

NMS:Last night at Punisher, YHC commented to EF Hutton that YHC has only missed one Q due to oversleeping. It almost happened this morning as YHC awoke at exactly 0515. Thank goodness DaVille is only 3.5 miles from YHC house. YHC arrived and exited the Jeepster proclaiming “30 seconds till we mosey”. Also at last nights Punisher, Chumbucket brought out an oldie but a goodie with the Jack Webb abs variation. YHC thought it was a good idea to spread the pain a little with the DaVille PAX. All members of the PAX put forth maximum effort this morning. Job well Done gentleman.

    Thanks for letting me lead.

    Circle K

  • SOJ Commandeers DaVille

SOJ sent 6 of its region’s finest (and 1 honorary SOJ member for a day (DTH)) along with the Ghost Flag to commandeer Spit’s Q and takeover DaVille for a day. The journey was long and Capt. Andrew Luck would be proud of our fortitude during this campaign to takeover the North. Our offensive was met with a strong force of DaVille locals as well as some summer tourists (or guys who may have just been lost). All told, the PAX numbered 23. It went something like this:

Announce the takeover (though nobody was surprised) and mosey over to the soggy grassy field between the schools and near the bus loop for COP, including the following (all IC except the Burpees):

    • SSHs – apologies to the DaVille crew for making you count to 30. YHC forgot about the counting limitations in DaVille.
    • DQs
    • Helicopters
    • SOJ Hillbillies – hops mandatory
    • 5 Burpees OYO
    • Alternating Shoulder Taps
    • HRMs
    • Freddie Mercuries

    THE THANG
Wall Work – Mosey across the wet grass to the brick wall for the following:

    • 20 Donkey Kicks, bear crawl to side walk, 20 jump squats, crawl bear back to the wall, wall sit for The SIX.
    • 20 Donkey Kicks, lunge to side walk, 20 jump squats, backwards lunge to the wall, BTTW for the SIX.
    • 10 Chicken Peckers IC

Nicole Teaser – No time for the full 20-minutes of Nicole, but the SOJ crew wanted to bring one of our favorite ladies for the Daville PAX, so we did 5 minutes of Nicole. Run a lap around the outside of the bus loop and upon return to the gas pumps perform 10 merkins, 10 2-ct ball dippers and 10 WWII situps. Repeato AMRAP.

Nicole Encore – Nicole wasn’t satisfied with 5 minutes, so the PAX formed 2 lines for one more lap, indigenous people run style, and 1 more set of the three exercises upon return to the gas pumps.

Plank-o-rama for the SIX and then the Q was passed to Rosie…

Mosey over to the nearby fields (there are so many fields at DaVille it is crazy) for a COP of Rosie’s Random Access, including the following (and more) in rapid-fire succession:

    • Werkins
    • Heels to Heaven
    • Hello Dollies
    • Smurf Jacks – in honor of our hosts
    • Imperial Walkers
    • Copperhead Squats
    • Diamond Merkins
    • Peter Parkers
    • Flutter Kicks – Mark Spitz style
    • 10 Burpees OYO

Q passed to Flatline…guess where we are going — “On the Line Boys!” for Partner Work. Partner 1 carries Partner 2 the length of the field, stopping ever 30’ish steps for 30 PLTs each. Flapjack and return doing the same until time was called and we headed for the Flags.

COT, Number-rama and Name-a-Rama and YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    • Summer Tour is in FULL effect. Takeovers, clown cars, and Qing a new AO are all great during the summer tour.
    • Next Saturday – NO EXCUSE WORKOUT – in DaVille. See Spit or The Carpenter for details. There is also a pre-blast out there.
    • Shakedown is shaving his head. If we can get him up to $1,000 he will shave it Dr. Phil style (with the stache) and put that up as his profile pic. For $2,000 — Shakedown goes Brazilian* (*false advertising warning). Let’s help him hit his goal. https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/1034764/2019
    • HDHH – Happy Day Hump Hour according to DTH!! coming soon. June 19 I believe at Palani Drive. See Kubota for details.

    NMS:

What a great morning for a couple of SOJ clown cars to descend upon DaVille. Traffic was nonexistent at 0445 so the trip was swift and easy and YHC’s SSGumbo-mobile pulled into an empty DaVille parking lot and Rosie, Draper and YHC were ready to roll.

Word got out about the takeover and it was good because the DaVillians came out in full force to defend their turf. Great turnout and great work men!

There were a few other summer tour participants as well – with a Bleeder sighting. He went South yesterday and North today. Good to see one of the Captains is monitoring his outposts!

Strong work by the Qs. I think we brought the pain and gave the PAX a beatdown to justify the takeover. Always great to hear the groans when the Q says “find a partner roughly your size”. And, why do guys run away from Gumbo? Not Pavarotti! Thank you sir – great partnering with you.

Thanks to Rosie, Don Draper, Flatline, Sugar Sock, Shakedown and DTH for joining in the takeover.

DaVille (Spit) has the Ghost Flag…can’t wait to see what you do with it.

    Have a great Tuesday men!

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Pond Dips!

It truly was sunny and 70 this morning and 13 warriors, including 2 summer tour guys and 1 FNG, rolled into the Atlee High School parking lot to take on a series of challenges that went something like…

Mosey to the bball court behind the middle school.

COP All IC – 50 SSHs, arm circles, 10 don quixotes, 10 helicopters, 10 hand-release merkins (HRMs), 10 imperial walkers, 10 HRMs, 10 copperhead squats, 10 HRMs, 10 crab cakes, 10 HRMs, 25 LBCs, 10 HRMs

Mosey to the sand volleyball court – do 1 4×4

    Mosey down to the pond

Triple check – 1 person does dips near the pond on a bench, 1 person does heels to heaven, 1 person runs to volleyball court to do 1 4×4 and run back (** audible to two times through instead of three times)

Mosey to the edge of the football parking lot.

Run back to the flag with stopping for a HRM at each speed bump.

Numerama, Namerama, Announcements, YHC took us out.

    Announcements

    • Summer tour has fired up! Let’s go out on tour while also welcoming guests all summer long
    • NO EXCUSES workout coming on Saturday, 6/22 at 7:30 am at the Milestone neighborhood field – Preblast will be posted this week. The goal is to EH guys who have given excuses like “It is too early,” “It is too cold,” “I can’t come on a weekday because of work,” “It is too dark,” “I am not in shape yet…” YHC’s goal is to remove the excuses and open up the doors for EH’ing more guys into the PAX!
    • New AO “The Anvil” is starting on Thursday at Mechanicsville Elementary School

    NMS:

YHC wasn’t sure if anyone would show up after the Memorial Day beatdown that happened yesterday. YHC was out of town so he missed that fun so he wanted to bring his own version of a beatdown this morning and tackle some new DaVille territory.

The summer tour brought fresh faces to DaVille in the form of Oyster and Offshore. Phonics has been EHing like a madman at high school track meets and that yielded another FNG who would later be named Marco Polo due to his love of swimming. He agreed to respond with “Polo” every time we yelled “Marco” so that could get interesting and annoying quickly!

YHC wanted to make the most of the COP while recognizing Lab Rat’s desire to have some form of stretching things out before fully attacking the workout. With the arm circles and don quixotes behind us, we launched into a series of hand-release merkins.

YHC also wanted to take the PAX to some new territory. The PAX has run by the drainage area (pond) on the road many times and YHC noticed some benches. This triggered the thought, “We need to do some dips by that pond one day.” That day was TODAY. The PAX had a bonus discovery as well when we “found” the long lost sand volleyball court. The court was in terrible shape and had a lot more weeds than sand. It still proved to be a good place to knock out some 4x4s, including trying to mountain climb on sand.

The PAX pushed through multiple series of the Triple Check but YHC realized that he did not estimate the time well. The run to the volleyball court from the pond was longer than expected. The PAX adjusted well and finished with the run around the back side of the Atlee campus.

T-claps to all the PAX for supporting MayTag in his return. The PAX rallied back to him and brought him home to the finish.

As always, Spike and Helix crushed the workout and showed no mercy on all of the exercises. Opus and Spike ran to the AO this morning and they received bonus points for their extra work.

This summer is going to be a great one for F3RVA. We can all feel it. Let’s continue to engage and encourage one another!

    YHC took us out.

NMS — Well, YHC has mixed feelings about the upcoming day of demise. On the one hand, 50 is a largish number. On the other hand, YHC looks at Emoji and is like ” Hey 50 ain’t so bad!” It was a great morning with only a smattering of mumblechatter. Welcome to Corned Beef! Hope to see you again soon in the gloom. Loved the cooler weather this morning and the bright skies. Fun times!

Announcements — Summer Tour is coming up — sign up on the Google Doc– was a lot of tun last year to hit different AO’s in the summer. Looking forward to trying to finish the whole thing this time around.

New AO coming soon to the Daville area — Thursdays at Mechanicsville Elementary. Details to come.
