Byrd Park

  • House Party’s Pre-Party!

COP: arm circles, cherry pickers, DQs, side-Straddle hops, mt climbers, WWIIs, and Merkins.

    The Thang:

Burpee Back Mountain – partnered up for a Dora.  100 burpees.  Timer ran up and down amphitheater steps.  As soon as we all got through this one, Winehouse showed up looking fresh as a daisy.

Triple Check at Penny Stage w/ coupons – Timer did murder bunnies, P2 did curls and P3 did presses.  Lots of mumble chatter here about Spanx, back doors and how murder bunnies suck.

Rusty Cage – Triple Check. Timer did 10 Ball dippers, P2 did pull ups and P3 did dips.  We couldn’t decide if the exercise I gave an example of was a Lt. Dan or a Ball dipper.  But the timer was definitely on one leg a lot and many balls were dipped.  At this point 5 pax headed over to Rock ‘n’ Roll to support House Party’s VQ.

The remaining 4 Pax Moseyed over to the base of Love Hill and partnered up.  Timer ran 1/2-way up Love Hill and back.  P2 was to Karaoke, then lunge, then polar bear, then broad jump burpee.  This experiment with the Karaoke was a failure, as it was the only exercise engaged in.  For the 2nd 1/2 of the hill the Karaoke was nixed.

    BTTF for COT.  Numbers.  Names.

    Announcements:

Vinny is getting together a 49 and under team for BRR on 9/9/22.  Come on out young guns, b/c this year’s older bunch is an intimidating squad.  Let Vinny know if you’re interested.  If over 50, get with TYA.

Check out GP’s weekly zoom (Mondays at 7pm) regarding leadership.  The discussions have been very stimulating.

YHC has taken DTH’s challenge to read Freed to Lead in a week.  I’m a week in and about 1/2 way there.  When I’m done (God willing in about another week) if anyone wants to borrow my copy and take the challenge, just lemme know.  My knowledge of F3 has deepened immensely in a short time.  There is so much room for growth in F3.

Lab Rat has finished his treatment, is on the mend and was recently spotted gettin’ after it.

Prayer requests for Lab Rat and Hitch’s M’s ride.

YHC took us out in prayer, seeking daily guidance from the Sky Q in all things, large and small.

  • And now our watch has ended

To bring a finale to SOJ takeover week YHC motivated himself by signing up to Q. When Wilson stated he was in, I modified the workout to accommodate. Us Respect guys need to watch out for each other. However Wilson bagged it so modify was a no go. According to the cycle enthusiasts here is what went down.

Mosey to the crop circle for COP: 30 SSH, 10, DQ’s, 10 Helicopters, 10 Imperial Walkers, 10 Ukrainian Soldiers, 10 Merkins, 10 LBC’s, 10 Dollies, 10 Plank jacks. Mosey down the long winding road.

The thang: Pipeline Triple check: Runner on pipeline, Hand release merkins, LBC’s. Mosey back up the road with some Sprints, Lunges, BS’s mixed in. Back to Ampitheater. Merkins up starting with 1 up to 15 on each step. Dips down, Squat jumps back up, WWII’s back down. Time was called BTF with 1 minute stretch to end the game.

Announcements: Get on slack. If you are not ask someone who knows what they are doing to help you get on. Slack should be all things communication for F3 RVA. F3 Leadership zoom monday at 7pm. The bridge in Charlottesville: 1st Saturday of month, clown cars leave various locations.

YHC took us out in prayer. Great followship at Libbie Market after. I learned I need to get a new watch, one like Bacon Bits!!

    MOLESKIN

The DogPile PAX was smallish in number, but mighty.  The plan was to revisit territory once conquered by F3RVA but left to the wild many moons ago.  YHC forgot how far, time consuming, and potentially treacherous it was to the Northbank wilderness.  Thankfully no known injuries have been reported.  During TC1 the timer proved to be way too long for Derkins, audible was appropriately called.  This seldom visited area is now henceforth known as the Doggie’s Perineum.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Prayers for Flatty’s family friend – loss to cancer

Prayers for Mr. Roper’s son in Colorado

  • Give me a bottle of anything and a glazed donut………togo.

To say I have been blessed to be a part of F3 RVA is an understatement. Thank you ALL for the many years of dealing with YHC! I know I can be a handful!

And so the adventure begins..! For those who travelled, you missed a Wilson Q. Maybe only 3 or 4 more in my whole entire lifetime.

YHC’s plan looked amazing on paper. There may have been an audible or two.

    Here was the plan.

Mosey and grab coupons. Head to main stage. Yup. Those vets know. A Wilson stage workout was about to begin. Set the speaker up and perform the following exercises during each song. Small print rules to follow. LBC, Wall Sit (w/Coupon), Poor Randy, Curls (w/Coupon), SSH, Wilson’s WIfe, Fudds Wife, Jump Squats, 6 inches, Carolina Dry Dock. One change was to run around ampitheater in between each song.

The rules were set at beginning. Share a story, get a prize, commercials give burpees and there wer some others but who really reads fine print.

Return blocks head to flag for dealers choice mary to finish. YHC took us out.

  • 11 for Stretching..or SOME Stretching

YHC told the Pax we would stretch, we did, some.

Either way its a holiday weekend, so YHC doesnt have a lot of time, we stretched, we worked out, we ran, we had fun! Gotta show to know! Have a great holiday, see you all Monday

    MOLESKIN

Mr Rogers asked YHC while during a mosey “So what has changes in 6 years?” Well DaVille was only 2 months old, we had half the AO’s we do now, there was no “Big Data”, we didn’t use Slack, and our main way of communicate was either the website with BackBlast or world of mouth. What hasn’t changed? The impact this group keeps making on all the “Sad Clown” men in our community. I’m truly thankful for this group and how these brothers have been their for me the last 6 years. Nowadays when I’m only posting 10 to 12 days a month (when I used to get in 17 to 20), I’m still encourage every time I come out or see others posting.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Bridge on June 4th and Memorial Day Convergence at Tredger starting at 7am

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • The Q Needs to Get…

    The Q Needs to Get…

10, well, then 11, came, saw, and conquered today’s latest edition of The Dogpile. Conditions were 70 and sunny. According to the dude who popped out of a Big Blue pickup, the following most definitely likely happened:

Mosey to the Ha’ Penny Stage for the COP:

    SSH – 30
    LBCs – 20
Don Quixote, Wilson-style – 10 (good Heavens: that takes forever)
    Dead Man Hang
    Right over left
    Left over right
    Flutter kicks
    Hand-Release Merkins

    Mosey to grab a block.

Partner up. 3 rounds of Partner 1 does Murder Bunnies to the lamppost and Partner 2 does chest presses with the block.

Circle up for some stretching. Arm circles, in cadence. Small, big, backward. Get ready to use those arms.

Mosey to the Valley of Ill Repute. Deconstructed block burpees. 1 merkin at the top of the hill. One overhead press in the Valley. One block burpee at the top of the other hill. Continue progression from 1-5. OYO. At some point, Mr. Rogers appears, sees what the PAX are doing, attempts to run away, and then gives in, grabs a block, and makes an impact. Good to have you, sir.

Assemble on Love Hill Road. Stick with YHC on this. Partner up. Partner 1 puts his block down and runs “down” Love Hill to a designated bend in the road. Simultaneously, Partner 2 grabs his own block and starts to lunge “up” Love Hill towards the Amphitheater gate. When the runner returns, he grabs his own block and carries it to wherever his partner has advanced. The men swap roles. Partner 2 puts down his block and runs to the designated bend in the road, and Partner 1 lunges with his block towards the gate. Continue this progression until either Partner reaches the gate. The run only gets longer each time.

Hold the block for the 6. Then, LBCs with block on chest. Rosalitas next.

Mosey into the Amphitheater to the top step for another nutty exercise.

Starting at the top step, each man does 5 block curls. Then, put the block down, and run to the bottom of the Amphitheater. Do one incline merkin. Run to the top. Do 5 more block curls. Put the block down. Run to the 2nd step from the bottom. Do 2 WWIIs. Run to the top, and do 5 block curls. Put the block down. Run to the 3rd step from the bottom. Do 3 squats.

Get it? 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8….and so forth. Rotation is incline merkins, WWIIs, and squats as you ascend the amphitheater. Get through as many rounds as possible.

Mosey to the Amphitheater to drop the blocks. Then, mosey back towards the VSF, but stop for some Pole Smokers along the way. PAX hold 6 inches while one PAX member does 10 four-count flutter kicks.

    BTTVSF for some stretching.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

May 30, Convergence at Tredegar Iron Works. This will involve brotherhood, exercise in the sun (yeah, it’s weird), and coffeeteria. Starts at 7. YHC thinks Gomer has the Q.

June 4th – big day. You are busy from 6 until 11. Just book it. The Bridge, 7:00 a.m. (leave by 6 cause you will get lost), Buckingham, VA for a convergence with Charlottesville . Stay for food after (and sign up so Vinny can get a rough headcount).

Also, June 4th, give your blood starting at 10 a.m. You can be done by 10:30 if you don’t pass out. Location is Epiphany Lutheran (Methodists, Baptists, and Pentacostals can still come – I’m told Lutherans don’t bite, hard) at the corner of Horsepen and Monument. Pigskin has a sign up sheet, but your name is likely not on it yet, so get yourself together, make a commitment to someone other than you, and donate. YHC is also not on the list, and needs to get himself together.

Breaking Bread – This is our volunteer event. YHC asks that you do this 1 time per year (F3 has 24 nights annually). Make dinner for 8-12 people, drop it off on Belt Blvd. at 5:30, and make some people in need very happy. You know how excited your M and your kids and everyone you talk to get when you share a story about a Beat Down? Yeah – not that excited. Sharing a story about Breaking Bread? THAT will get them excited. We need 2 people for June and 2 for August. You can do this. Drop YHC a line with any questions. Sign up on the Q sheet (it’s on the far right – really, it’s there.)

NMS: Great to have some of the old band back together at The Dogpile. Swirly and Big Blue were back and in business. Great to have you, pal. Bunch of guys made the trip from far south of the James. Good crew.

Wilson’s suggestions on YHC’s life needs were noted. YHC is glad to know someone in the restaurant business. If YHC ever meets Wilson’s actual wife,…, oh, boy.

YHC notes an update to the Stud List. YHC is not sure where “Stud” starts, but certainly 1,000 posts counts. Nice work today, EF Hutton, who joins as the third F3 RVA member to hit 1,000 posts on Big Data. Honorable mention to anyone who joined F3 in another city, has posted for 11 years, and probably has 1,000 total. Big Data probably knows that too.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

  • I gotta say it was a good day

19 homies made it to DogPile to start the weekend.  On the drive in it was rainy – with puddles and rain soaked ground and cool temps: all combine to melt the muffin away.  Like Ice Cube tells it: “I gotta say it was a good day.”

    Disclaimer: rather explicit.

According to the creepy guy who even Upchuck didnt want to EH, it went somethin more or less like dis and like that and like dis en ah, its like dis.

5 burpee warmup.  Mosey route to let the motivated PAX get a little wet.

COP started with deconstructed burpees – squats, thrusters, merkins, thrusters, jump squats x10 and x9. 10x SSH, 10x DQ, 10x Helicopters, 10x IW,  10x Grass Angel, 10x Aussie style GA, 10x APD, 10x Tuscaloosa Trailer park Twister, 20x WW2, 10x Freddie Mercury, 25x LBC, 10x Dollies, 10x Rosalita, 10x Flutters,  5x Bohemian Rhapsody, 10x Freddie Mercury, 10x WW2, 10x 4count Merkin, 10x HRM, 10x Shazam.

Rusty cage. AMRAP pullup followed by Triple check: jerkins, Leg tucks, burpee at hydrant. Squats when maxed out

Ha penny stage:  11s + coupons.  Climax Dips – three pulses at top, Curls.

Pipe loop triple check. WW2 & squats.

BTTF. YHC took us out. Prayers for WW2 vets – 78th anniversary of VE Day is tomorrow, Lab Rat, Try Hards sister, Upchucks family on the passing of his aunt.   Bring one person out this year.

NMS – YHC is finishing up Ozark – one of the last season episodes features some old school rap, so its been on the playlist.  Something about this tune reminds me of good times, maybe because it dropped senior year of university, and the year a few of our younger brothers first glimpsed the Sky Q, aka 30 years ago.  Likely gonna squeeze a screening of Friday into this weekend.

Looks like US Army removed the leg tuck because a certain demographic was failing the original proposal:  https://www.army.mil/acft/   Thats too bad, its a great exercise: https://youtu.be/1Ne6yv2yzRo.  20 is your max gents.

Coffeeteria was enlightening.  Thanks all for the convo.  If you are not paying attention to the economy and the implications for your long term finances, you are gonna get caught.

F1 Miami is tomorrow at 3:25p. Check it out. https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/formula-1-how-to-watch-the-miami-grand-prix-and-f1-racing-in-2022/

I gotta go ’cause I got me a drop-top and if I hit the switch….
