  • Exploring Dogpile/Woodsman first time/Senor Frog is in love!

I joined 10 of F3 RVA’s finest HIMs today on a journey around Dog Pile’s little known treasures….buckle up let’s go.

6 a.m. on the dot, we took off towards the nickel bridge, where UpChuck jokingly warned me the bridge was closed (I guess he didn’t want to do a burpee lightpole session). With that nugget in mind, I knew where would head first after our warmorama…

Warmup: Circle up (Rosie made me in the middle of the circle)…began to give the F3 mission statement amongst chit chat…Hitch joins the crew (a little late). Warmup exercises included SSH, stretches (possibly Heist’s wife stretch? Wasn’t glorious enough for my M, so not this time!), copper head squats, APDs, Rosco’s mom, LBCs, merkins, Wilson and Fudd’s wife.

Part 1 – Yes – the Bridge! But first – an amazing fart from Senor Frog (apparently held in for a week). Run down the nickel bridge and back, alternating between squats and burpees at each light pole. May or may not have waited for the six at the turn around, but instructions were “down and back.” Picked up the six with Mr. Roger and Rosie. Pretty sure Mr. Roger and I got a little out of sync with our burpee/squats despite the easy pattern (Rosie can attest).

Senor Frog was so warn out from all his honeymoon luvin’ he began to lay on the ground. 20 count was the best medicine for that (thanks Hitch).

Part 2 – I decided to slow things down a bit, so did a few rounds of stepups and dips by the Pump House Parking Lot. Said hello to a few short shorts runners who strolled by.

Part 3 – My original plan to do a triple check by the pipeline, but when I saw the amazingly pristine hand bars by the Byrd Park Pump House (some nice landscaping and an ADA compliant switchback style path recently installed), I knew an audible was needed.

Two sets of jerkins performed (20 reps – apparently that was too many)…these guys need to come to Satan’s Hill on Flex Friday where we eat jerkins for breakfast!

Next, I took the guys over to this rock slab for a brief thrill of sliding on your six about 2 seconds. Quickly gave the “you vs you, don’t hurt yourself speech.” No injuries and I think everyone found it amusing.”

Part 4 – Pump House trail exploration: Per request of Senor Frog, we journeyed up the Pump House trail loop. At the halfway point, I led us in a few rounds of Mary. We were about to turn back when Hitch asks, “are we going to the skate park?” Curious to see a new Dog Pile landmark, I said take it away Hitch. Off he ran, Pax followed along to the break in the fence that separates the world from the train tracks and boxcar hobos. Sure enough, there was a “skate park,” which was a pool like structure nestled between the train tracks and el rio Jaime. Hitch was happy, so I asked him to lead us in whatever one does there. A few rounds of bear crawls, crab walks, and sideways “actual” crab walks. Walked along the perimeter of the skate park too, one misstep would certainly be a fall in the rapids.

Part 5 – Worked our way back towards the Pump House….only an about 14 minutes left, but I really wanted to get in that triple check along the pipeline. And so, we did it, merkins and WW2 sit-ups were the exercises of choice. With only minutes left, we made our way back to the flag, late by 2 to 3 minutes. No “buy the Pax” breakfast penalty….this time.

    Numbers/Names

    1. Convergence Monday at Tredegar Iron Works (down from the VA War Memorial). Starts at 7 a.m. with Boberry leading a pre-run at 6:25 a.m.
    2. 2nd F – Please take shot to serve those fine folks at both Breaking Bread and the Bridge Ministry.

I shared that I had wanted to make this a Memorial Day themed workout, but just didn’t work out that way today. However, going back for the six a few times reminded me of the fact that, many soldiers have likely sacrificed themselves defending our great nation by “going back for the six” in times of war (think about the Marcus Lutrell story). No prayer requests, but Flatline reminded us to call a veteran we know. Check in on them.

    Took us out in prayer.

Good times at Libby Market today. Enjoyed a few servings of Major Dickson’s blend.

    Honor to lead!

    El Heist out!

  • Señor Frog’s last Q as a single…..

7 showed up this, May 17th, 2025, to offer marriage advise to Señor Frog at the Dog Pile.

YHC had several things planned until the acting safety officer (Mr. Rogers) pointed out all the rain & lighting and recommended we stay in the protective covering of the amphitheater. He is a smart one; He is…

We did a traditional COP warm up with some escalating dips the hard way.

We moseyed a bit to the pump house to admire some RVA history while stopping for a few pull ups along the way.

We moseyed back to the flag for a prayer and Mimosa from Mr. Rogers & M.

YHC is thankful for his F3 friends! You ALL made my wedding day very special.

The wedding gifts and positive affirmations will always be remembered.

    THANK YOU!

Special Shout out to Bodos for marring us! Nadia and I were completely blown away with what you did for us!!!

  • I don’t understand what was so confusing…. What wasn’t said was implied.

11 men gathered to see what randomness Handshake was going to bring to Dogpile.

Traveling COP – we made our way from The Flag over to Maymont Nature Center Parking Lot doing various exercises on the way.

Mosey over to Maymont neighborhood and over to YHC’s first house on South Meadow. After Bodo’s comment about “it looking like a shed” (insert eye roll) we completed 69 Monkey Humpers. We also saw lots of Deer, one was even stalking Gomer in the street and eyeballing Bodo’s.

Mosey over to the Maymont Parking Lot for a couple of Triple Checks and a Pencil Roll in the wet grass.

Mosey back to the flag and complete 20 Boo-Yeah Hand Release Merkins.

Announcements – Hermes. The Bridge. Today. Upchuck made a proclamation and returned property to Faceplant.

    Prayer Requests – none

NMS – Fun times. YHC Q’s like Jazz. Ever changing, and non-sensical. Thanks for the opportunity.

Final Thoughts: Had a great time leading this morning! I vastly underestimated how long that field is, making the Super 11’s a never ending slog. I think Indigenous People’s pencil rolls are here to stay as a Dogpile staple – You’re welcome. Great effort by the PAX! These guys were putting in some work.

  • Nobody remembers $hit

After a weeklong cruise and a busy week at work YHC struggled to get out of the Fartsack this week. YHC signed up to Q for motivation. EF Hutton even joked that it was a Q by an FNG.

Various exercises were completed to include 22’s on the Field, a failed Sextex Check, and never ending Pull Up rotations.

Good times were had by all, great jokes.

Announcements – The Bridge on April 26th with Corned Beef, May 10th with Hermes. Breaking Bread is covered for April.

Prayer Requests – Vinny/Vinny’s family at the passing of his MIL. Prayers for Kubotas brother’s Family at the sudden passing of his brothers MIL.

NMS – thanks for the opportunity to Q

  • Show me the F**kfax

Eleven eager PAX, including a visitor from SC, found perfect April conditions for a spring Dogpile. Newly placed tariffs on sections of the AO made for a vague theme that was NOT the stupidest idea of the week somehow.

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Down to bottom of the amphitheater. 10 Burpees tariff for using it. Alternate up incline merkins and dips each step up to top.

Over to front of memorial, 50 Upright APDs tariff. Run up steps: 10 merkins, 20 WWIIs, 30 Jump squats, run back to circle and 10 burpees. 2nd round: 20 CDDs, 30 Reverse Crunch, 40 Squats, and 10 burpees back at the start. Head over to Bermuda Triangle: Bear crawl to 1st spot: 20 Merkins, down to bottom, 30 Flutterkicks, Bernie up hill, 40 LBCs. 2nd round: HRMs, 30 LCs, 40 Penguin cruches.

Head over to Rusty Cage, tariff was 10 Chazz Michael Michaels! Then we did 3 rounds of 6 Pullups & 10 Jerkins. Over to the Jacobs Ladder bowl for the namesake exercise set. Then back to flag for 2 min of Mary. YHC took us out with some quoted scripture.

Announcements: Bridge is starting back up later this month. PAX are needed to step up for this important F3RVA staple. Also May 2nd CSAUP is coming up fast. If you can attend a boot camp you can do this.

NMS: What a way to start the weekend. Solid group of PAX that pushed the whole morning. It was great to give Decible a tour of our crown jewel AO. Just as Milton Friedman, Ronald Reagan, and Thomas Sowell have repeatedly said “Tariffs are a terrible idea” so were the burpees and Chazz Michael Michaels as well. But it was a loose thread for a theme for YHC to grasp.

Coffee lasted a good while and was a blast as always. Lots of great ideas shared and Faceplant was able to find a babysitter to thwart Upchuck stealing his evening plans.

Moleskin: The Ghost Flag returns. YHC felt a very brief moment of guilt after learning that Mr. Rogers arrived early to set up something special with buckets around the field. Meanwhile, BlueMoon woke up early, crossed the river, and stamped his passport, expecting a Mr. Rogers Q. The timing of A vs. B was perfect—might have to bring that back another day. And let’s not forget—today’s 20-counts were on point.

  • Spoon-er or Spoon-ee?

    YHC took us out!

NMS: YHC does not hide from his affection for Dogpile. My first workout post and many Saturday mornings spent with you fine fellas on this ground!! Yes, I have been slacking with my Q’s as well as posting. Oyster’s comment with VQ was almost a, “What did you say Willis?!?!”moment, but YHC can take the heat. YHC thinks about the many wonderful memories since starting my journey with F3 and friendships that have blessed my life, including Oyster’s.

The Swedish Chef made a quick appearance trying Jazzercise but he quickly exited stage left! EF Hutton and Hardywood…..you missed out but the PAX was lucky in the same regard.

Your friendships mean a tremendous amount to me. Each morning that I post, I rarely have a bad day that follows!!!

God bless each of you and thank you for following my lead this morning. Coffeeteria at Libby=Super 2F!!
