  • A Triangle has 3 sides

YHC doesn’t know of another time the Frozen Triangle has ever been rescheduled. It is ironic that something that has the name “Frozen” was rescheduled because of actual frozen conditions.

First off, what is The Frozen Triangle? Well it consists of 3 things: 20 minute Bootcamp at Dogpile, 3.4 Mile Run to Punisher, 20 minute Boot at Punisher, 2.9 Mile Run to 45MOM, 20 minutes Bootcamp at 45MOM, then 2.4 mile run to Dogpile to finish. Roughly 9 miles and 60 minutes of Bootcamp.

Before YHC starts, happy 10 years to Bodo’s! You are always ready to jump into anything that comes your way. To quote the reverend from The Patriot “A shepherd must tend to his flock. And at times fight off the wolves…” Whether it’s a duel on the Pickelball court, or taking an Ultimate Frisbee game too seriously we are glad to have you as part of our group.

YHC only completed one leg of the Triangle (45MOM Bootcamp and run to Dogpile) so YHC is missing the full details of what transpired before then.

Dogpile – Bodo’s Anniversary Q. Not sure exactly what happened, but it was likely epic and entertaining. Then mosey to Punisher.

Punisher – Gumbo Q. Also not sure exactly what happened, but rumor has that it was a tour of the campus while finding new and fun options. Then mosey to 45MOM.

45MOM – Gypsy Q. Gypsy raided the Community Garden for Pavers/Edging Stones. Various exercises without any running: Block/Kettlebell Pass, Jack Webbs, then Wack Jebbs. Then mosey to Dogpile to finish.

There was also a rucking contingent with House Party, Choo Choo, and Commando.

NMS – T-claps to the guys that did the full Triangle, that is a tough CSAUP and there were a few first timers.

Announcements – L Woods is involved in a Food Drive, please see Slack. Gypsy encouraged men to join a F3 Shield Lock, as well as to reach out to guys you haven’t heard from in a while.

YHC is proud of the Pax that participated in The Frozen Triangle, especially those who were able to complete the whole thing. Special thanks to the guys involved in planning and to Corned Beef for running the Chuckwagon with snacks and water.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Prayers for UpChuck’s friends Mike and Becca

  • “This is completely made up isn’t it”…Yes!

A lucky 13 (including one DR visitor from NOVA) posted to Dogpile this morning for brisk start to their Valentine’s Day Saturday, and an extra serving of Gumbo. This is what was in the pot today (or at least what I can remember)…

Mosey to the COP circle and around a few times, then circle up for typical COP including various exercises, then off to do our THANG.

    Amphitheater:

Mosey to the bottom of the steps – almost all the way – down to where the ice was. Make our way back to the top with 3 incline merkins and 3 dips on each step. Luigi killed it and came back for the SIX.

Al Gore for the Six out by the circle, followed by the Honeymoon Suite of pickle pounders, APDs and Diamond Merkins.

    Carillon:

Mosey over to the bricks in front of the Carillon for a Triple Check – bear crawl to steps (or to ice) and mosey back. PAX 2 doing merkins, PAX 3 doing Freddie Mercuries

    Hill Work:

Mosey over the far COP circle and down to the bottom of the hill for some hill work. Jacob’s Ladder starting at the bottom with 1 jump squat, 1 monkey humper, 1 Carolina dry dock and 1 LBC, run up the hill stopping in the middle for 2 of each – to the top for 3, middle – 4, bottom – 5, middle – 6, top – 7, middle – 8, bottom – 9, all the way to the top for 10. Yes – this was complete made up and I appreciate all the feedback.

    Field Work:

    Mosey to the field for 4 corners – 10 HRMs in corner 1, 10 HRMS + 20 deep squats in corner 2, 10 HRMs + 20 squats + 30 2-ct mountain climbers in corner 3, add 40 SSHs in corner 4.

Regroup at Gomer who was going reverso and Native American Run BTTF.

    3 Minutes of Mary

Numbers, Names, Announcements (THE Frozen Triangle next Saturday 0600 at Dogpile, and GTE up in NOVA in September – early sign-ups are open), and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

Great to have a large group. It was looking like only 6 at 5:53, then 9 until about 30 seconds to go and 4 more came in HOT. Personally, I love the #13, but it sure can screw up a bootcamp – no good pairings but we made it work.

A fair amount of mumblechatter today, but it got quiet during the Triple check. For me the bear crawl to merkin combo was brutal. I don’t think the hill work as a big hit – and I got a lb of sand in my shorts – but hey, we weren’t cold after that.

Thanks for coming out. Always a great start to the day!

    No More Gumbo For You!

  • Scrap the triangle

5 guys, at least one confused, were at Dogpile on Saturday am to pick up the leftovers from the Frozen Triangle cancellation. It’s ironic that the Frozen Triangle was reschedued because it was frozen.

We joined in with Dr. Try Hard’s rucking crew for the first few exercises. They then left us to do their version of the triangle and we constructed a hot potato Q.

Sippy cup leading. Animal walks and merkins/legwork to center of circle.

Blank Space leading. Lunges and misc. exercises in circle.

Gumbo leading. 4 corners on the field.

Bootleg/Luigi leading. 3s–three trees in a line, with exercises both ways including Burpees.

Sippy Cup. Mosey around to a non-icy spot for some shadow kickboxing.

    Head back to the Flag.

    COT: Bootleg took us out.

  • 12 in 12 with 12 to 12 for 12

TWELVE HIMs showed up in 12 degree weather to do a bunch of 12-rep work-outs to the 12th album of Taylor Swift for YHC’s 12th wedding anniversary.

If you’re not nosy to know more, that pretty much summed it up.

But if you’re interested to know what the hibernating earth worms saw at 6am today, here’s what went down:

COP at the wind tunnel – timed to “Father Figure” and “Cancelled”:

    — SSH x12

    — Helicopters x 12

    — Ukrainian Soldiers x 12

    — Imperial Soldiers Walkers x12

    — Mike Tysons x 12

    — Merkins x12

    Mosey to the grass circle.

    We did 10 sets of 12 bear crawl + 4 freddie mercuries + 4 flutter kicks, 4 V-ups

    Mosey to the cage.

    We did a “chaotic” triple check – 6 rounds of 6 jerkins + 6 pull-ups + 12 squats

Mosey to the grass circle again.

    12 rounds of 4 jump squats+4 merkins+4 swimmers

    Mosey to the amphitheater.

Each HIM picked a workout to do for 12 reps each. some of the ones I remembered were (flutter kicks, V-ups with arm circles, merkins, chair pose?, run around the amphitheater, and upchuck’s favorite: burpees)

Jump squat up to the grass circle.

Indigenous run around the circle, and then back to the flag.

Then we ended with 2 minutes of stretching, followed by 1 minute of silent reflection of people we are grateful for in our lives, as we lay in “have a nice day.”

    Numerama, Namerama

    Announcements:

    • Grateful for HIMs who went to the Bridge today
    • Grateful for HIMs who signed up for Breaking Bread this month
    • Flatline is called upon to serve an 11-month term in the Army
    • Frozen Triangle on Feb 7

Sippy Cup took us out. Coffee at Libbie Market.

  • Greatest. Dogpile. Ever. There’s never been a better one…

7 men met in a cold dark park to exercise their body and spirits this AM.

Mosey down to the Tollbooth for COP, various exercises.

Mosey to the Bridge for a Light Pole Beatdown. Going south at every Pole do (5) HRM’s and (10) WWII’s. Going north on the Bridge do (1) Squats

Mosey down to hill to the Pump House and do 50 solo Dips, get a partner and Partner holds legs and do (10) Merkins and (20) Dips.

Mosey across the road and do Rock Parkour.

Start making our way up the hill completing 50 of various exercises and then either Moseying between Lightpoles by running or Bernie.

Mosey from the bottom of Triangle back to the Flag stopping at both Circles.

Two Minutes of Mary to finish.

Announcements – Pigskin has The Bridge on 1/24. Frozen Triangle Feb 7th at Dogpile starting at 0600. Breaking Break needs a Q next Saturday 1/24.

    Prayer Requests – none

NMS – Good times at Dogpile. It was nice to have Applesauce and Blankspace back out. Also nice to see Helix and Wojo two weeks in a row. We were missing some key players with Oyster, EF Hutton, and Upchuck being out but we made due.

  • Welcome to “Khaotic”

Side note….I usually get up earlier stretch out get a few little things done then I am on my way. This morning, woke up at 515 and went WTF so a little hustle plus make sure my 2 cats were taken care of before I left. I knew what the conditions were going to be so I was mentally ready. A few sips of my drink on the way then I arrived. The first of what will be many Qs led at Dogpile soon began with a mosey to the main circle for WARMARAMMA. SSHs, Don Quixotes, Jazzercise, Imperial Walkers, Copperhead Squats, Merkins, LBCs and Alabama got rolled by Indiana prom dates to conclude the beginning, First up down to the theater

With the steps and darkness as our canvas, we did an odd even stairway of torture(odd number incline merkins, even squats). Then to an area over by a secondary circle for one of my favorites(DORA). 100 Merkins, 200 squats, 300 LBCs with a little loop run the blood flowing, sweat in the rain cranking up. Then to the road where one day, we will return to the classic full triangle I have a couple of ideas but need to wait till a convergence or a really big group. A nice triple check(mountain climbers, lunges, chaser run to the circle and back. Afterwards to the tower, welcome to khaotic

The debut of the khaotic merkin….it is a since rep of 10 merkins touching each shoulder, each knee, each foot, cross stretch, mike tyson walk the hands back stand then end with one deep squat. Example merkin shoulder, merkin other shoulder, merkin knee etc. Combined with run up the tower steps and back down(we got screwed the lights were not on so with the rain the steps blended in and became a little tricky. I like them, now imagine doing 10+ rounds which one day will be the challenge at the tower. A little mosey to the stage in the back for a tricep dip holding feet into a suitcase squat variance(work on that more but it has potential).

One final mosey to the flag a little stretch then time was up(no going over nailed it). Announcements(see Slack big ones the Bridge upcoming in 2 weeks and frozen triangle in Feb. Prayer led by YHC to close things out(then over to Libble Market for an after F3 brekkie).

Why did I switch from RNR to Dogpile on Saturdays? I had been an RNR guy for over 3 years, but it was getting to a point that I needed a change. I had talked about going, working out at other F3 spots so it was time(overdue actually). If I had a regular work schedule, or things worked in my favor I would be at more AOs(right now I can’t without messing myself up). 2026 when the opportunity presents itself, you will see me at more spots(get over to Twin Team, No Toll, Circus Maximus, 45EMOM etc). Even on days that I feel either good or bad, I am learning what my body and mind are doing. That’s another thing I am learning if you see my heart rate and other stats, I am getting good work in but today for example my average HR was only 118(max 168). Yesterday 100 with a max of 160. I appreciate those who came out today, I look forward to my my next oneand the challenges ahead. See you soon

  • Leadership Includes Communication

Ten men of superior strength, foresight, and industry joined forces in The Gloom for the latest edition of The Dogpile. Temperatures were 70 and sunny. According to fokelore told among the local hermits, the following might have happened:

Mosey around the near circle, then circle up on the grassy knoll close to the storage closet for…

50 SSHs, dead man hang, Fudd’s wife, right leg high, left leg high, Wilson’s wife, pigeon right, pigeon left.

LBCs x20, Frederick Mercury x20, Alabama Prom Dates x15, reverse crunches x15…

Imperial walkers x10, Don Quixote x10, and something else.

Mosey to the other circle, then around to the grassy area that we rarely use between the other circle and Park Drive.

Partner up. Partner 1 does squats, Partner 2 runs to the first tree, then returns. Reverso. Round 2: run to the 2nd tree. Round 3: Run to the third tree. Repeat through 7 continuously further trees.

Mosey to the intersection about 30 yards away. New partner. Dora 1-2-3.

Each man does 50 merkins, then do 100 combined WWIIs, and 150 combined 4-count Side-Straddle Hops. Here’s the twist…partners do 3 boo-yah merkins at each swap-over.

Luigi gives us a 20 count.

Mosey about 30 yards onto the grassy area the is surrounded by the Frozen Triangle. We “never” use this grass. Except for today.

Partner up with a new partner. First man runs and touches 5 trees. Second man does flutter kicks. But, the catch…you cannot touch the same trees as your partner. F3 says we are about leadership; we need to step up our game when it comes to teaching communication. This exercise is about very basic communication and coordination…in the dark.

At the end, we compared notes…and different groups touched different numbers of trees. Expected outcome, but not the right outcome. Lessons learned.

Mosey to the bottom of the Frozen Triangle for a Beast up the hill. Bro-code style.

Squats, merkins, LBCs, monkey humpers, 6 burpees (one time…for the sake of time), and Choose-your-own-adventure.

Single file run with the last man coming to the front back to the shovel flag.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out with a prayer for our men and women in harm’s way, especially today.

    Announcements:

We call it F3. There are 3 F’s. YHC encourages each of you to be a 3-F guy…fitness (workouts), fellowship (get together with your pals), and faith (do things with F3 guys that help beyond just you).

Breaking Bread needs volunteers at the end of January. See the Q sheet.

The Bridge needs a Q for January and another for February.

  • 2026 Starts Right

40+ guys with a handful of 2.0s converged on F3RVA’s showcase AO for a New Year’s Day beatdown. A few of the strong joined us for a double dip after Circus but the rest rolled in with plenty of time for some pre-workout greetings.

YHC took the Q from the start and led the contingent into the amphitheater for a warmup. Generally standard fare to start with a highlight of a Jazzercise off between Nancy Lopez and Senor Frog. Nancy’s heart wasn’t in it after the OSU lost last night and Senor brought the energy. A little back and forth from plank to on our 6 threw the PAX off but they powered through.

Resident Legend and Triple Respecter took the next section and proceeded to put the PAX through a typical Pigskin-esque amount of pain. 4 corners/Eye of the Storm with 5 burpees in the middle and exercises of 20 merkins, SSH, jump squats, and crunchy frogs. Next we hit the Carillon for a rapid fire variety COP with decline/incline/mike tyson merkins, Freddies, flutters, copperhead squats and other fun. The PAX was relieved to find out the Q was getting passed to a much younger HIM when Boberry took over to take us to the Penny Stage.

Triple Check with dips and plank jacks. COP with a variety of explicit commentary followed and now we know how Boberry ended up with so many kids. Next up was a Lindsey in the Valley of Death with squats and carolina dry docks that took us to the end of the hour.

Another great morning at Dogpile and a great way to kick off 2026. Thanks for letting me lead.

Look out for 3rd F opportunities at The Bridge or Breaking Bread throughout 2026.

Reminder that this is a great time to EH as guys are looking to fulfill their New Year’s resolutions. Give it away

Prayers for Gomer and his crew as they prepare for the mission trip to Honduras.

More info to come soon on the next F3RVA CSAUP.

  • Where oh where did our little Hitch go?

0600 and 7 second YHC hops out of the car to 4 waiting Pax members and we start out on a journey reminiscent of the recent Upchuck non-sensical Q. We stop on the opposite side of the Boulevard to do a COP because Oyster said “if Hitchhiker shows up late he’s never going to find us” a few minutes later (0605?) a lone headlight comes in to the parking lot, it was Hitch.

We continue our COP and apparently Hitch made a bee-line for the Carillon because new never saw him. We moseyed back over the warm up Circle and hollered his name but we quickly gave up and continued back on our original journey.

We moseyed and every 1/4 mile we stopped and did 10/20/30 of various exercises. We saw roughly 20+ Deer on our journey and covered 3 miles. Hitchhiker was found wandering with 8 minutes left.

Announcements – Breaking Break is open for January, New Years Day Convergence at Dogpile at 0700

    Prayer Requests – none

NMS – fun morning covering some rare territory, glad to not be alone
