  • First Watch – River Road Hills Edition

One foreign made tractor company and one stock brokerage firm hit the mean streets of River Road Hills for a mixture of activities. 5:00 am sharp and off we went!

One mile run from the church down Gaymont, left on University, left on Ralston, end at River Road. Mosey back down Ralston to YHC’s driveway for:

    COP:

    Helicopters x 15

    DQ’s x 10

    LBC’s x 25

Collect coupons(bricks) that were strategically placed in YHC’s ditch last night by Husky.

Mosey down the street in front of Keymaster’s house and begin a round of:

    11’s

Merkins and American Hammers. Mosey up Ralston, University and Gaymont in between each set.

Stop about halfway up Gaymont and complete 25 SSH’s

    Then begin a:

    Lindsey

Squats and Carolina Dry Docks. Mosey up Gaymont in between sets ending at River Road.

Head back over to church and hop into a nice grassy area by the church.

10 WW2’s/10 Small Arm Circles forward and backward

15 WW2’s/10 Large Arm Circles forward and backward

    20 WW2’s/20 Overhead Presses

Head over to small parking lot and grab a curb for:

5 Burpees/Lunge Walk across to other curb/5 Burpees

10 Crunchy Frogs/Bear Crawl to other curb/10 Crunchy Frogs

    Head back to VSF for:

    Mary

    15 x Reverse Crunch/Arm Butterfly combos

    15 x Alabama Prom Dates

20 x Arms behind head Flutter Kicks

    30 seconds of Superman

***Coupons were never put down until the workout ended***

Set coupons in the back of YHC’s truck

Numberama, Namearama and YHC took us out.

    NMS:

Beautiful morning for a run and coupon workout! Husky had set 10 bricks in the ditch last night thinking there was going to be a big crowd for First Watch this morning. Looks like it was quality over quantity this morning:) EF Hutton is now 29/29 on the Mile-a-Day Challenge. He vows to run a sub-7:30 minute mile to end the month tomorrow. Tuckahoe Little League and whether there is going to be a Little League season dominated the converstation this morning. EF Hutton has the Q next Wednesday for First Watch. Come on out at 5am and let’s get after it!

    Have a great day, men!

  • Triple – triple checks

3 early riser veterans weighed their options before 5:00 and took advantage of the triplet of pax. To start:

Kubota Q: COP – SSH, Imperial Walkers, Don Qs, WWIIs, Merkins. Mosey back to KB drop spot for Triple Check: High pulls, KB Swings, & run the parking lot loop.

EF Hutton Q: Triple check #2 – Lying KB Presses, Boat & Canoe, & Run the lot. Head to end of lot: Bear Crawl length of parking lot.

Honeydo Q: Cross street over to RRC(b) for Triple check #3: Burpees, LBCs, & run to tree and back. Head to side of church: 3 sets of 20 Donkey Kicks, bear crawl across width, & 10 HRMs. Back to flag for bit of mary then done.

Announcements: Lots of Virtual Zoom opportunities for 1 & 2 Fs.

NMS: Kubota gave YHC the deciding vote whether to put in a good 15 minutes at FW then head over to WDog or stay at the AO for the full 45 minutes. YHC chose to stay put as to not mess with the nap schedule.

3 rounds of triple checks will eat up most of the beatdown. YHC enjoyed the 60+ yard bear crawl. Not sure why EF Hutton stopped and gave YHC the lead as he is a strong bear crawler. Kubuta did NOT enjoy the long bear crawl.

Good morning to be out and we the First Watch PAX did get a few early rays of the rising sun as we were finishing up. Brighter earlier days are ahead (literally and figuratively) for RVA.

YHC audibled halfway through the COP to avoid getting wet, but staying dry was simply not to be. Can’t attest to the dampness of the other PAX, but YHC was thoroughly drenched by sweat on a warm April morning after moseying 2 miles. Noted advantages of First Watch’s early launch to name a few, organically fewer than 10 PAX, driving a motorcycle without lights is acceptable, beating an early morning rain shower, post workout nap, too dark to see the pollen you ingest. During the 4 Corners a white Jeep Cherokee flew by heading west on River, YHC speculates Honeydo fartsacked First Watch, was heading to WDog, but had to turn back with a turtle head pokin.

Is that a rabbit? No, it’s a newspaper.

Three strong on the First Watch this morning took a little tour to make sure everyone was abiding by the Governor’s rules.

Start a nice crisp run from the parking lot to the Gamble’s Mill Eco Trail gate with a stop at Saab’s house on the way. One Burpee to activate alarm clock to wake Saab up.

While on the trail, perform a Lindsay. Seven stops on the trail for:

    35/5 30/10 25/15 20/20 15/25 10/30 5/35: LBC’s/Merkins

Gather at the Spider Run parking area at the big grassy hill.

    Triple Check:

Partner 1 – Bernie Sanders up hill, run back down

    Partner 2 – Jump Squats

    Partner 3 – WWII’s

    3x

Run by the lake to the foot bridge and gather at the Gazebo on the island for:

    3 sets of the following:

10 Dips on benches/10 Pole Smokers using trees

Mosey across foot bridge to the wooded side of the lake, head up the big wooden steps and make our way to the bottom of the amphitheater for:

2 x Incline Merkins on each step on the way up and out.

Mosey through campus toward College Drive. YHC thought he saw a rabbit in the UR President’s driveway. EF Hutton corrected him to inform him it was the daily newspaper fluttering in the breeze. YHC needs to go to eye doctor(seriously). Do we have an eye doctor in the PAX?

Stop at Saab’s house to see if he was still awake, no he wasn’t. Three Burpees to activate the snooze button.

Back to the VSF. 3.00 miles! 45min 30sec. Mission accomplished!

Numberama, Namearama, Announcements and Wojo took us out.

Well done this early morning, guys! What a way to start April 2020 off. Good riddance, March 2020! You were a Lion the whole month. The Lamb will come, though! Have Faith!

Whilst the masses slumber, assassins lurk in the shadows, ready to pounce with merkins, squats, and burpees. Under the cover of darkness, ninjas mosey about Tuckahoe ready to strike, leaving no trace behind but the pungent scent of piss and vinegar and a 4th F or two. Raiding and pillaging and violating unsuspecting driveways all while swinging big bells. Chuck Norris even checks under the bed for this faceless, nameless threat at night. The earliest of AOs has been a secret, unknown to many before now, birthed by Kubota one cold November morning, the time has finally arrived for the world to know, the First Watch lives.

YHC usually has a plan, today that plan was not to plan, well except a trip over to campus.  The uneven PAX of 5 made sure YHC had to think on the fly.  A quick glance at the map and one can actually see there’s a path from College over to Crenshaw.  Unsure if that was a private drive, YHC was informed it is the President’s.  Not to worry, YHC and ol’ Ron Crutcher go way back, he won’t mind.  He and the Lady Spiders Field Hockey team might however mind the big dump Honeydo took on their pristine artificial playing surface.  Anyway it was fun to see something new and YHC loves it when a plan without a plan comes together.

As AC/DC once sang that was a Whole Lotta Mosey, well close enough.  Kubota clocked over 3 miles.  The loop itself around was measured at about 2, but with plenty of running in the Dora and high knees 3 miles seems about right.  YHC successfully confused Offshore so much he thought the Kanawha tennis courts were part of some unknown baseball complex.  Apparently still dazed he took to doing his Monkey Humpers in oncoming traffic.  As he snapped out of it and avoided disaster, he joked that the headline would read “Local Man Dies Doing Monkey Humpers.”  YHC noted, “At least you’d die doing what you loved.”  Thanks for getting up extra early to see some sites.  Make it a great one.
