  • Was that Chicharron?

File this in something I have not seen before at F3. Nine of us were enjoying a morning at Gridiron, and while we were close to wrapping up and doing some final stretching in the parking lot, Chicharron comes sprinting from the football field, runs past us, says nothing, does not look our way and then runs toward the original pickleball courts. He is wearing his orange F3 shirt so there is no doubt who it is, but he either was so focused he missed us, was being chased by an invisible bear, or was rescuing someone at the pickleball courts. This is what he missed:

Warmups started in the parking lot. We moved to the soft playground after Attila shit himself. Did some more warmups. Then did the first of many triple checks. This one was swing pumps, step ups and a run to the blue shed and back. After that we went to the the pull bars memorial site. They have been permanently moved to Twin Hickory Park. In remembrance, we did a triple check of dips on the pretend plastic edge border (now named crab dips), jump squats where you reach for the pretend pull up bars and the timer runs the path around all the courts.

We then took to the high ground and visited burpee hill. We did ten, nine and then eight burpees (with a ten count in between) and then moseyed to the new pickleball lot. There we continued the burpees but like the high school kids who were likely in our same spot last night, we did were fire and did 6 7.

This group of champions took over one of the champion courts and did five and then four burpees. Then we did a four corners of ten merkins per corner, bear crawling the entire way. That was a bad idea. We then finished with 3,2,1 (6) burpees.

We went back to the lot and did one last triple check. WW2, Flutters and a run to the track and back. After that we moseyed back to the original lot, did a little stretching and then Chicharron flew by. Hope he enjoyed his run.

Guessing many of the regulars were at the Bridge this morning. Next chance at the Bridge is 11/15 with EF Hutton. Reach out to him for more details.

Welcome back to our resident pharaoh, Pigskin.  Good to see you brother!

WTH with our pull-up bars?  County of Henrico has removed any evidence that they once existed!   I guess real workout equipment for real men in the middle a punch wimpy pickleball courts was too much for the that segment of the population.  The whereabouts of our pull-up bars will likely remain a mystery.

Prayers up for those looking for jobs, dealing with cancer and others dealing with the greatest of losses.

God is good all of the time!

    Attila

  • Square, Circle, Triangle

Henrico County has gone too far…they’ve removed the monkey bars from Grid Iron. (Probably needed room for another pickle ball court). Never fear, the 10 of us headed to the soccer field for other elementary (Squid Game) exercises:

Square: 5, 10, 15, 20 exercises in every corner. Started with Merkins. Did a round of Carolina Dry Docks, a round of Staggered Arm Merkins and a round of Sumo Squats.

Triangle: 5 Burpees in 3 corners of the soccer field, and end back at Circle for more of a break (abs):

Circle: Took a break around the midfield circle for 100 abs: 25 WWIIs, 25 Side Crunch (each side), 25 Heals to Heaven. Later, between other rounds of Square and Triange we hit: 10 Irish Hammers, 15 Rollups, 25 Crunchy Frogs, 25 WWIs, 2 sets of 25 PLTs, and 50 American Hammers. Ended with Jack Web of 1:4 Merkins:Air Press

Cool down, stretching, and off to Starbucks after COT.

  • Going through a transition…?

9 of us gathered at Grid Iron to celebrate a cool morning and the transitioning from summer to fall. But it was more about Roger Roger transitioning. No, no…he’s transitioning back to becoming an active pilot. Good luck brother. Meanwhile we had a boot camp this morning including:

SMITH 5 Corners (Because 4 wasn’t enough)- 25 Squats, 25 Merkins, 25 Incline Merkins, 25 Taps (Shoulder), 25 Heals to Heaven. And add 5 Burpees at mid field between each corner exercise.

7’s (Because 11’s would be just too much Abs)- Get Up’s and Irish Hammers

Colonnade and the Poles- Slow march down the colonnade with 10 Burpees every other pole, followed by Squats every other pole until we reached our landing spot for a Triple Check of: Chicken Peckers, American Hammers, and a Run. Slow march back down the colonnade with 10 exercises at every pole. 9 of us got to choose 2 exercises each so that’s 180 of a mixture from: Chuck Norris, WW IIs, Sumo Squats, Imperial Walkers, Bear Crawls, Pole Smokers, Ranger Merkins, Crunchy Frogs, Hitchhikers, and more.

Finished with some stretching and 50 ab related exercises.

  • Hot Potato opening for Fireman Ed

It was 7:10 and Fireman Ed said “Honey” and my M says “Yeah”. I am supposed to Q today and my workout is at 7. And she says “You better move fast.” And so I did. Instead of the standard one hour Q, I had two opening acts, Mr. Rogers and Tater. And at 7:30 I moved in as the headliner. It is amazing how easy it is to Q for a half hour. But the PAX did not beat me up too bad so for that I give them credit. There were 10 in total with a visitor from Arlington (welcome 2 percent).

COP: Mr. Rogers with an assortment of epic warm up exercises. Hand the baton to Tater.

Tater: On brand, he headed to the Strikers field. Did a beast with various awesome exercises.

Ready to hand the baton to Roger Roger, Fireman Ed steps in the way and says “Hey sorry about that dudes. I am late. I bet Roger Roger had something better in mind but he is a nice guy so he said “OK”.

Chin up bars: 10 chin ups, 20 dips, 8 chin ups, 25 dips, 6 chin ups, 30 dips. Mosey to benches.

Elevens with step ups and carolina dry docks. Mosey to home base

Triple check with donkey kicks, squats and run around the parking lot.. or at least most of it.

Finished with bear crawls, lunges, bunny hops, ab exercises and stretching.

Prayers for Nick, Freeman grad who is dealing with severe headaches, Fudd’s sister Mary, Handshake’s niece Charlotte and those recovering or dealing with cancer. New AO coming to the far west End led by Roger Roger starting in November. Come visit and help it get launched. In spite of my mistake in showing up late, hopefully I will learn a lesson and be a better person for it. Thanks for letting me and Tater and Mr. Rogers lead.

  • Field Trip to The Boneyard

Mosey to the front of the School for a Triple Check. P1 – run to the end of the Island and back, P2 Dirty Hookups, P3 – Balls to the Wall.

Circle up while each man individually picks an exercise and we do 10 of that exercise.

Pick up partner and go off on your own and do 10 minutes of exercises.

Mosey to the Parking Lot by the Football Field and Parking Lot Bear Crawl.

Mosey back to the school for one last set of exercises.

NMS – thank you for the opportunity to lead.

  • Bolt up!

17 new Chargers fans and 1 happy Q celebrated the big win in Brazil. Wearing my powder blue jersey, I was ready to lead–and so was Tatar. But Tatar made another signup sheet error and had to watch me steal his football themed workout.

We circled up at the 50 yard line (around the “T” that Tatar painted in the middle of the night) and did warm up exercises in 27 and 21 counts. It did not take Attila long to know the pattern was the score last night. We did SSH, IW, WW2, Hammers, Squats, Flutters, LBCs and others I cannot remember.

We moseyed to the goal line and did my favorite football field exercise, the Double Quarter Pounder. 25 count at the 25, 50 count at the 50, 75 at the other 25 and 100 count at the other goal line–running to the exercise and bernie back to the start. We did 25 merkins, 50 Squats, 75 flutters and 100 SSH. Second time we did 25 Hand Release Merkins, 50 single count hammers, 75 LBCs and 100 SSH. A group of volunteers with the help of bacon smelling cheater, were able to give me the Big Mac rap and so we did not do a 3rd round.

Went to the side lot to spell BOLTS! 5 Burpees in the center and then as a group hit each corner, returning to do 5 Burpees in the center after each exercise. 50 Overhead claps, 50 single count Lunges, 50 Toe Taps, and 25 SSH and 25 Squats (as Blue Moon looked lonely doing squats on this own). Lots of walking by the pax. I knew they needed a way to push more.

So we hit the lower field for some sled work. Broke off into 4 teams and one team pushed the football sled down the field while the other three groups did some sort of exercise (bad instructions were to blame). Polly seemed to enjoy the sled the most–maybe a Rugby and booze themed Q coming soon??? And even White Deer was seen angrily pushing that sled. No injuries occurred to the Pax or the Sled.

Then for fun, we did 2 rounds of suicide runs (to the 10,20,30,40,50). Second round included one burpee at each “finish” line to ensure the pax touched the line before returning to the start (5 burpees total, stop your whining).

We hit the bleachers next. After telling them how disappointed I was in their effort, we did 3 rounds of bench kicks and dips: 20,25 and then 30. We then moseyed to the soft playground area for some Mary, including some super slow LBCs, and got to time.

Announcements: party at Taters starting at 4 for Gypsy and Pinto and their upcoming wedding (to other people). Firehouse Subs on Tuesday at noon. 11th Anniversary convergence on Sept 20th.

Whose got it better than us???

    Nobody!!!

  • We claimed the field first

14 RVA regulars, one downrange visitor, and one FNG showed up for a Rosie beatdown at Gridiron. According to the geese that tried to take the field, this is what may have happened.

Mosey to the middle school football field for a welcome, mission, and disclaimer. Standard warm up fare with some fast paced hillbillies and 5 burpees to welcome the LIFO. Line up on the goal line. Various methods of moving 10 yards at a time – bear crawl, crab walk, lunge, crawl bear, polar bear (thanks Gomer), and others with a new exercise every 10 yards increasing then decreasing by 10. Burpees, merkins, squats, flutters, SSH, freddies, monkey humpers, werkins, burpees.

Dora on the soccer field. WWII, squats, SSH. 2 rounds of PLTs with boo yah merkins. Curb work with toe taps, single leg squats and Mike Tysons. Finish up with some Mary.

Great to be out at the first F3RVA AO with a great group of men to start the day. Thanks for letting me take the lead today.

    2 convergences coming up.

Labor Day Dogpile 7am – see preblast and Slack.

F3RVA 11 year Manniversary Sept. 20 details to come

Prayers for Fireman Ed’s mom and her surgery and Gomer’s interviews.

  • A Delayed Beast

We had 19 post at Grid Iron to enjoy the beautiful Fall-like day. After warm up we went to pull-up bars for 2 sets of a 30-20-10 (30 Carolina Dry Docks, 20 Dips and 10 Pull-ups). Finished with a 15-20-5 to save our energy for the rest of the morning. Headed to the soccer field for a 50 yard Bear Crawl with 2 stops of 10 Merkins. Then a 50 yard Crawl Bear with 2 stops of Heals to Heaven. Followed by 50 yards of Ukrainian soldiers and 50 yards with 5 sets of 10 Squats. This was the warm up before The Beast.

After the 1st round of Merkins, we were asked to find another location (something about us not being youth soccer players) so we had a long mosey to the original Grid Iron to finish off The Beast with Wide Grip Merkins, WWII’s, Squats, Carolina’s, and Burpees.

Took a break with Abs: 4 sets of 25 of Crunchy Frogs, WWI’s, Side Crunches each side. Then a crowd favorite of 10 Irish Hammers and Up/Downs led by Gomer Pile.

Great work from the PAX.  Each man looked like he had jumped in the James as conditions were sauna-like.  It had been so long since Polly had posted that he gave his age 2 years ago when he actually worked out.  Good to see him sober up for a Saturday boot camp.

Prayers up for those with cancer.  Upcoming party (9/6) at Taters for Gypsy and Pinto’s upcoming weddings.  Labor Day convergence at Dogpile.

God is good all of the time!
