  • Reclaiming HBR

    • Mosey to the blacktop for a 4x check – run, HRM, Freddie Mercuries, balls to the wall

Great PAX today with some solid work.  Remember amateur hour for RAMM on Friday morning.  Come one and come all.

Prayers for the PAX members continuing to heal.  God is good all of the time!

  • Ripped Shirts & Wet Discs

A perfect 16 HIM’s posted to Heartbreak for an SOJ Takeover game of Ultimate Frisbee. With humidity at 1000%, our West End hosts ensured the sprinklers were ON for refreshing showers throughout the game. Here’s how the PAX exercised all three F’s in style:

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey the field perimeter dropping cones (full length, but only 75% of the width), and then circle up
    • Welcome & Disclaimer
    • Variable IC Reps to get the muscles warm top to bottom

THE GAME:  With absolutely perfect numbers for Ultimate, the PAX divided into Team Atilla with 8 dark shirts and Team Mariner with 8 light shirts. Rules were reviewed, and the decision made to forego burpees or merkins on turnovers.

While each PAX put forward amazing effort for their teams, here follows the most remarkable highlights of the game:

    • Early scoring by Team Mariner demonstrated definitive skill and coordination between Snuff and Bodos, and early grumbling by Team Atilla suggested uneven team skill levels
    • Team Atilla stopped counting when the score reached 3-2, but MVP’s Mariner, Snuff, and Bodos kept the TD’s going
    • Shout out to TI – The Ringer who’s never played
    • Upchuck won a small ribbon for “Most Hands On”, and Bodos’ shirt is proof if you let the bear give you a hug, you might regret it
    • Upchuck also earned 5 Burpees, the only given out, for batting the frisbee out of bounds over the fence – respect to the man for no complaints crushing the burpees
    • Bodos had 1st Place in Most Glorious (and frequent) Dives (pretty sure he’s actually just 25 years old…)
    • Handshake went beast mode in celebrating turnovers
    • Offshore has sneaky good skills
    • Our lone LIFO was Kubota, but only missed the last TD and COT

FINAL SCORE: Team Mariner 10 // Team Atilla 3

    COT:

    • Counterama # 16
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Comments)
    • BODOS took the PAX out in Prayer

    MOLESKIN

It was great to be back to a bootcamp in the Tuckahoe Nano Region. YHC hasnt been out here for almost 1 1/2 years. Some were even surprised someone beside Honey Do uses Scorpion Kicks in a COP.

Great day to show up with adding of a new transfer PAX from SC named Faceplant. Any idea on how the two faceplant compete for the name, haha

I recently got back from a trip to Disney World. While we were there, one of our grandsons ate some Sugar Free Gummy Bears. If you want to read something truly funny, read product reviews of Sugar Free Gummy Bears. The following is one of the links I found. I could not complete reading this from laughing so hard. You will likely have to copy and paste the following to get the link to work.

  • Getting our daily dose of 45 minutes of doing nothing wrong

3 PAX were undeterred from the rain at HBR. YHC grabbed the Q to minimize the running but we still covered at good amount of the AO.

COP at covered drop spot: SSH, Don Qs, Hillbillies, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks.

Mosey over to covered area: 50 Boxing Roaches, alternate bear crawl and lunge. Head over to Pullup playground: 4 rounds of 8 pullups & 20 squats. Then grab a bench & do 25 benchkicks, 10 Derkins, then run a lap. 4 rounds. Over to PES parking lot: triple check of Donkey kicks, B2W, and run loop. Head on down to Jerkin Gym, with a quick stop for some Heels2Heaven and a highly motivated Turkish Getup. Then 4 rounds of Jerkins then 50 benchkicks and back to the flag. 3 min of mary and ROF. YHC took us out.

Announcements: Bridge on 6/4. Pre-Ruck for Memorial Day, 6:00 AM before the main event at 7:00.

NMS: Lot of PAX on the IR still but what a great morning to play in the rain. Offshore wasn’t a fan of the dry-covered COP and made some comments about the Q which will be reported to HR this Thursday (or next Thursday??) When Handshake is the voice of reason in the PAX you know you are in for some fun. YHC has been out last month with Sciatica and grabbing the Q to try some running worked with mixed results. Really sucks not being out in the Gloom.

  • Hawt Potato Is Not a PAX Member

…yet, so YHC deleted the name from the Q sheet and took the Q at HBR. The Thang:

COP: SSHs, IWs, DQs, LBCs, Merkins, Squats IC

Mosey to Jerkin Gym for 2 rounds of 10 Partner Jerkins.

Bernie up the hill, mosey to the softball field for a Baseball Beast on the softball field. Complete exercises in the outfield grass behind 1st, 2nd, and 3rd bases, run home and return. HRMs, WWIIs, Storm Squats, American Hammers, Jump Squats, Burpees.

Mosey to the blacktop for 4 sets of Donkey Kicks, Bear Crawl, run to the end and back. 10, 15, 20, 25 Donkey Kicks.

Mosey to the field for 2 sets of 10 Plerkins (Plank/Partner Derkins).

Mosey to the wooden benches for 2 sets of 10 Derkins and 10 Step Ups.

    COT

Announcements and prayer requests: Pinto, LabRat, Gomer’s friend’s family, my dad, Ukraine/Lighthouse family. Blood Drive and The Bridge June 4th. Memorial Day convergence.

NMS: Welcome to Big Sky from Greensboro, whose Step Up is so powerful, he nearly destroyed a wooden bench. He works with Kubota and plans to tell him that HBR would probably be too tough for him. We went way beyond the virtual Weinke today as the PAX handled everything that was thrown at them. YHC tried to give Big Sky a taste of the best that HBR has to offer. Handshake and Lighthouse voted to not repeat the Lucky Horseshoe because it sucked – sounds like a reason to do it again. Hawt Potato is still available as a PAX name – for a sucker who looks like he would fill in to Q at the last minute.

  • It’s lucky because I said so.

A hearty group of 10 emerged from the gloom for a Tuckahoe Takeover of a Tuckahoe region AO.

We first moseyed to the front of the school for COP, consisting of SSH, helicopters, hillbillies, Don Quixotes, merkins and LBCs.

Next, off to the baseball field for a set of Lucky 7s (at each of the 8 light poles). 7 exercises at each pole. We did burpees, reverse crunches, jump squats, and merkins. A PAX member asked why it was lucky to do 56 burpees at 5:40 a.m. No good response was elicited from the Q.

Next, we tried a round of pole smokers on the side of the school. It was marginally successful.

Then, we traveled to our namesake, the Heartbreak Ridge, for a triple check with flutter kicks, LBCs, and running the ridge.

Finally, back to the parking lot for some American hammers, reverse crunches, and a merkin ring of fire.

Numberama, nameorama, and Attila took us out. Prayers for Ukraine. Announcements: see Pigskin about a blood drive event in June. HDHH at The Answer – 5:30.

  • Heartbreak Ridge

10 men gathered for a not run heavy workout and this is what transpired

Mosey 10 feet to the COP

Mosey to the Rusty Cage and partner up. 8 Jerkins per partner and rotate 3 rounds.

Mosey over to the grab the blocks and audible once we discovered the blocks were gone.

    Mosey to the Blacktop behind the school for a 4 Corners. Corner 1 – 10 HRM’s, Corner 2 – 10 HRM’s 20 WWII’s, Corner 3 – 10 HRM’s 20 WWII’s 30 Squats, Corner 4 10 HRM’s 20 WWII’s 30 Squats 40 Merkins and descend starting at the third round.

Mosey to the field for a short round of “I’m up, they see me, i’m down” Start in the plank position and pop up run 20 yards and drop and complete 10 Merkins, complete 5 times.

Mosey to the Sidewalk going back up to the Parking Lot all but one person get on the Bars and someone Bearcrawls underneath and rotate.

Mosey back to the imaginary Flag for a quick Ring of Fire

Announcements – Pigskins Blood Drive on June 4th. The Bridge Ministry/workout on June 4th out in Dillwyn, Va. West End lunches have restarted and lunch will be tomorrow? See Slack for details.

Prayer Request – Lab Rat as he goes through treatments. Tryhard’s sister. The people of Ukraine and Lighthouse’s family.

NMS – not a long of mumble chatter today. YHC Calves have been bothering him the last weeks and most recently his Hamstrings have joined the fray. Pinto and Tater say YHC is aging, albeit not gracefully. When YHC saw the Q sheet was open it seemed a good opportunity to control his own destiny by being able to decide the beatdown. Thank you for the opportunity to lead.

  • The Potato was Hawt

Hot potato or Hawt Potato, per Handshake, was called for this morning’s beat down. As our start timer rolled in Hawt, we got an early jump with a mosey to the front of the school for COP and timer caught up quickly and didn’t miss a beat.

Attila kicked us off with a variety of COP:

    • SSH
    • DQs
    • IWs
    • Helicopters
    • LBCs
    • Arm circles big and small forward and reverse
    • Merkins

Attila kept the potato and took us on a short stride to the curbs on the far end of the school parking lot  for some bear crawl bears curb to curb with merkins up to 6 and back down. Attila’s workout nearly set the tone for mumble chatter, strong start the morning with little said to being with.  Passed to Offshore.

Offshore took us on an even shorter journey the corner of the curbs we were at, but he made up for the short mosey with 4 corners. Offshore kindly defined the 4 corners exercise ending the debate of how and what was to be done. It was decided 15 Carolina Dry Docks, 20 WWIIs and 25 Storm trooper were to be completed at each corner for 1 round. Passed to Handshake.

Handshake now with Hawt potato, rather than hot, assuming Hawt is hotter than hot here, we moseyed to the field for a Triple Check. P1 Bernie 100 yards and run back, P2 hand release merkins and P3 American Hammers. There was some questioning of the distance at which we had to Bernie but obliged anyway and legs were definitely Hawt after the Bernies. Attila, we appreciated the demonstration of the spirit finger hand release merkins. Passed to YHC.

YHC with the Q now, we moseyed back to the school parking lot to try and squeeze a Dora in with the remaining time. Partner up, runner to far end of the lot and back. Exercises were 100 merkins, 200 squats and 300 LBCs. I think all group got to LBCs but we unfortunately had to wrap up as time was called before finished.

    BTTF.

Announcements, Blood Drive and the Bridge coming up. Check slack for details.

Prayers to all and our visitor Cartwheel’s community as they remember a fallen officer.

Great work today guys, appreciate the opportunity to lead.

    -Bacon Bits

  • Don’t pack up those cold weather gloves just yet

Seven HBR regulars were unsure when to start since we were missing our HS arrival +30 seconds timer to launch at 5:30. Luckily the Q had his watch so off we went:

COP: SSH, Don Qs, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, Reverse Crunches, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey over to covered side. Grab a pole and do Boxing Cockroaches, man on end does 5 squats then to the end. Repeato all the way to end of poles. Way back same premise but do Stripper Poles & man on end do 5 Merkins then move up. Mosey over to front of PES for Triple check: HRMs, Heels2Heaven, run loop.

Head over to pull-up zone. 4 rounds of 8 Pull-ups & WWIIs. Then over to basketball court: Lunge between hoops & 6 Hand Release Merkins at each hoop. Finish with 4 rounds of 40 Benchkicks and 15 Squats then back to flag.

Announcements: 6/4 Blood Drive – See Slack/Pigskin for more info.

NMS: Quiet group this morning without Handshake to ask inapproriate questions to stir the mumblechatter pot. Stripper Poles were a hit and were definitely Offshore’s kind of thing. YHC should have veto’ed the pairings in the Triple check since the Pinto/Offshore/Lighthouse pairing against the Atilla/Bacon Bits/YHC/Pigskin made for some lopsided loops. YHC tried to keep the pax relatively dry and stay off the grass. Hopefully the sub 40 degree temps in the Gloom are behind us soon.
