  • The hottest of potatoes

A cool 5 of Heartbreaks finest warriors set out free their mind and exercise with no Q on the sheet and this is how it went.

COP – Atilla – going through a typical warmup, but throwing in his patented Suzanne Summers to work through his teenage fantasies

Exercise 1 – Atilla – Curb Crawls. Ascending from 1 to 6 and then back down to 1.

Exercise 2 – Handshake – 5 person double check. 5 men, 5 exercises, twice through for a total of 10. Person 1 runs around the loop, then person 2 Balls to the Wall, person 3 Stair Jumps, Person 4 LBC’s, Person 5 Flutter Kicks. 2 full rounds through.

Exercise 3 – Handshake – Mosey over to the Pemberton Elementary Bus Loop. 3 people start at the bottom of the loop and Polar Bear their way up the covered bus loop area while the last 2 Bernie Sanders from the top of the loop to the bottom to keep things socially distanced. Round 1 was Polar Bear, Round 2 was Crab Walk

NMS – Heartbreak has been fortunate to grow in numbers through the Corona pandemic, YHC has enjoyed seeing some new faces and faces that haven’t been seen in a while. YHC is glad to see Pucker in the fold and Seymore back in F3 action. Have a wonderful day, men.

  • Particle Collision Avoidance

7 Warriors posted for their pre-nap daily workout. As has been common lately there wasn’t a Q signed up so hot potato ensued.

    COP: 25xSSH, 15XDQ, 15XRussian Soldiers, 15XBox Cutter, 10XHeels to Heaven

Mosey to Elementary School for a couple of rounds of four corners:

Round 1: Run backwards the long sides, lunges on short sides, 10 burpees, 20 merkins, 30 jump squats and 40 2 count mountain climbers.

Round 2: Run backwards the long sides, lunges on short sides, 10 WWIIs, 20 Carolina Dry Docks, 30 SSH and 40 2 count butt kickers.

Q was taken by Attila which we quickly learned was our mistake. Mosey up to upper blacktop for 1 minute alternating exercisesd for 12 total minutes. 1 minutes burpees then 1 minute donkey kicks repeat 6 times. There was much rejoicing.

Q handed back to Pucker and mosey to side of middle school for some catch me if you can. Confusion ensued based on a (valid) suggestion to keep appropriate social distancing and avoid general particle collisions by running too close together. PAX did get some more backwards running and jump squats in.

Mosey back to flag. Ring of fire with 10 merkins each, with each PAX member doing his own variety of merkins. Then finished with 20 2 count mountain climbers.

We enjoy these morning workouts and hope to be able to continue to do so. A special prayer today for a friend’s 19 year old daughter who was diagnosed with Sarcoma and is going through chemo the past few weeks. Thoughts are with all PAX in these interesting times.

    Peace out.

  • HBR keeping Spider Run legal

6 HBR stalwarts and 2 Spider Run regulars made it an even eight on a perfect spring morning. We did:

COP in fueling area: Invisible Jump Rope, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, HRMs, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to DK wall for Dora 123:

100 HRMs, 200 Jump Squats, 300 Donkey Kicks. Runner goes length of blacktop and back. Atilla gave us a textbook 20 Count.

Over to covered area for Totem Pole Smokers: Hold 6 inches & last man does 5 Heels2Heaven. Then over to benches in front of school. 3 Sets of: 20 Dips, 10 Box Jumps, & 15 Derkins. Down to Heartbreak Hill. 3 times up, 10 V-Ups, 5 Jump Squats at the bottom. Back to flag for some sequential mary – American Hammers, APDs, Pickle Pounders.

Announcements & YHC took us out.

NMS: Another week another Spider Run regular makes his way out to Heartbreak Ridge. Today was unintentional as EF Hutton’s car was hit yesterday so he ran to the nearest AO which happened to be Heartbreak Ridge, aye.

Lots of groans on the Dora about the 300 Donkey Kicks. The Dora did take up a good while. The DK wall has just enough space for 4 sets of men on the wall in a safe distance range so might as well use it up. YHC was planning on another prison cell time on the tennis courts but with 8 PAX and only 3 full courts the audible to Dora was the call.

Mumblechatter centered on the lack of Dogpile backblast as of this morning at 5:29 am. Probation is living up to his name but YHC is sure he is working on a Marv’esque masterpiece. Still Probation might find out that his Corporate File is already overflowing when he learns that the Corporate file does indeed exist.

  • Stay in Formation

Odd times, but grateful for something familiar and normal.  Five cautious yet eager warriors put some new twists on some familiar exercises.  Here is how it went down:

    • COP
      • 40 SSH
      • 15 IW
      • 10 DQ
      • 15 helicopters
      • 20 merkins
      • 50 2x LBC
      • 10 2x Suzanne Somers, each leg
      • 20 2x APD
    • Mosey to the field for a one-man Dora – each PAX does the full number of reps, breaking them up with 5 runs across the field and back
      • 100 HRM
      • 200 squats
      • 300 LBC
    • Arch loader where go ½ across field, before running to sideline for 5 burpees and then back across the field
      • Bear crawl
      • Crab walk
      • Bunny hop
    • Mosey back to the parking lot for 20 American hammers
    • Wide COT with YHC taking us out

YHC struggled with deciding if he should post, much less Q, at this point.  After receiving my family’s blessing, YHC felt he could post without guilt.  T-claps to the fathers who are making sure there is not a disconnect between their words and actions.  YHC has young children, and there is significant respect for the dad’s with teenagers and college-age children.  Sacrificing a posting for being united with your family in quarantining is admired.  Stay strong.

For those reading, YHC tried to create a workout that can be done solo or “in a group.”  Solid work from the PAX this morning.  Some mumble-chatter, but it was hard to distinguish due to the distancing.  All in all, good to see the PAX.

Continue to pray for our community and focus on caring for those around you, not yourself.  God is good all of the time!

  • Foggy Hot Potato

7 figures emerged from the early fog to gather for a much needed workout to find there was no Q signed up. Handshake quickly took charge and got the group warmed up in front of the school.

Improvising with what was available, Handshake had the group pair up for Catch Me If You Can with one person bear crawling around a circle of cones while the other did 10 Merkins then ran to his buddy. Another round with 20 WWII situps.

Mosey to Pemberton Elementary where again Handshake improvised quite well finding a stack of bricks. Each person grabbed two bricks and we did Merkins on the bricks then stood up and did presses overhead with the bricks. x1 Merkin/x4 OH Presses, x2/x8, x3/x12, x4/x16, x5/x20 and back down again.

Pucker took the Q and moseyed down to main MS parking lot for a variation of 11s. Using bus spaces, group OYO ran 3 spaces and did an exercise to one end of lot and back. 3 Copper Head Squats, then 10 LBCS and 10 2 count Flutterkicks at each stop.

Mosey to Blacktop behind MS for triple check. Actually did 4 rounds – Wall sit, LBCs and run backwards. Mosey back to flag for several ab exercises (Hello Dollys [?], Alabama Prom Dates and Flutterkicks).

FNG Frankie (came with Byproduct) shared his story and wearing a Steelers sweatshirt and professing his love of Pittsburgh was dubbed “Cleveland”. Welcome Cleveland.

  • Nothing gets the numbers up like a Quarantine

Eight PAX came out HBR wondering if a St. Patty’s Day theme was in store. Actually most pax forgot what day it is but we stayed safe and found a beatdown:

COP: Wider distance of SSH, Don Qs, Russian Soldiers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion Kicks – real ones that loosen your back up

Mosey to the Honeysuckle hill for 11s: Burpees at top, WWIIs at the bottom. Head over to Donkey Kick Wall for: 4 rounds of: Donkey Kicks, run blacktop, HRMs. Increase #s each round. Down to the Jerkin Gym.

4 Sets of 8 Jerkins. Circle up for some Mary then 2 times up Heartbreak hill with Jumpsquats at top and WWIIs at bottom. Back to flag. Safe Space COT and out.

NMS: YHC received a lot of grief from the other regulars (Atilla & Handshake) since his attendance at the home AO has been sparse with the winter tour. It was good to be back.

It was great to see Howler out with his dad. Not a bad idea to get kids out of the house and tire them out in a supervised manner. Ronnie seemed to love the Scorpion Kicks. Pucker’s knee was feeling sore so he opted for a good Bootcamp rather than his normal Spider Run.

YHC did the math in his head and Jerkins at the Jerkin Gym were reasonable distance partner work. Lots of mumblechatter on Pucker’s relative bone density. Probation, Garbage Plate, and Handshake set the pace. Stay safe all.

  • It’s time for a comeback tour

A merry band of 6 this morning at Heartbreak, all seasoned veterans, but some coming of injuries and fart sack hiatus.

COP – Side Straddle Hops, Don Quixote’s, Merkins, LBC’s, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, Freddie Mercuries, Burpees

The Thang – Mosey over to the side parking lot of Pemberton Elementary School. Grab (2) coupon Bricks (Cinderblocks are no longer there). Jack Webbs, 1 Merkin on the Bricks and 4 shoulder presses. Repeat and ascending to a total of 10 Merkins and 40 shoulder presses.

Mosey to the front parking lot of Pemberton Elementary for a confusing Triple Check. Partner 1 Runs the small loop, Partner 2 Donkey Kicks, Partner 3 lays in the Grass and Flutter Kicks. Oddly enough the Grass felt like it was made of spikes plastic and laid over a bed of Concrete.

    Mosey to the Football Field for a Mini-Michigan. (5) 100 yard dashes, (4) 80 yard dashes, (3) 60 yard dashes, (2) 40 yard dashes, (1) 20 yard dash.

NMS – It was great to have Ronnie, Loose Goose and P-Trap back in action. Ronnie was in a car accident in late December and needed a couple months to rest and recover.

Announcements – Prayers for P-Traps Grandmother and family. It appears his Grandmother will not make it more than the next few days. We rejoice that she is a Believer and will soon be in the arms of the Lord. We are thinking about you during this difficult time, P-Trap.

  • Cumulative Effect

March has commenced for YHC with a faithful four posting at HBR.  A simple Q and and stellar PAX saw it go down like this:

    • Mosey to the football field for COP
      • 25 SSH
      • 15 Russian soldiers
      • 10 DQ
      • 15 helicopters
      • 10 2x Suzanne Somers, each leg
      • 25 2x LBC
    • Cumulative beast with
      • 216 HRM
      • 180 WWII sit-ups
      • 144 2x flutter kicks
      • 108 2x crab cakes
      • 72 monkey humpers
      • 36 burpees
    • Mosey to the parking lot for COT with YHC taking us out

Great work by the PAX today.  It was not an overly creative Q, but it served its purpose.  YHC came home with dirt and grass shavings in every crevice of his body. Probation was dressed for the ladies with his smedium F3 shirt that exposes navel. Hence, Handshake fled the jurisdiction before we were done, or at least that is my story.

APDs going out to many of the HBR PAX who have been MIA.  The weather has been getting warm, so it is time for everyone to start getting ready for summer.

God is good all of the time!

  • Back in the Saddle

YHC has been sidelined with the flu.  Seeing that there was no Q, signed up last night, not knowing it was going to be wet and rainy.  No worries.  With one HBR faithful warrior, Handshake, in tow, we commenced a covered workout as YHC works his way back into shape.  Here is how it went down:

    • Mosey to the bus loop for COP
    • 30 SSH
    • 15 IW
    • 10 DQ
    • 15 helicopters
    • 20 merkins
    • 40 2x LBC
    • 10 2x Suzanne Somers, each leg
    • 25 APD
    • 12 minutes of alternating burpees and donkey kicks
    • Modified straight-line 4 corners (4 stops with 10, 15, 20, 25 reps)
      • HRM
      • WWII sit-ups
      • Monkey humpers
      • Crab cakes
    • Mosey back to the parking lot for COT with YHC taking us out

I have missed the PAX and missed this AO.  Good to be back with a faithful warrior.  Hopefully the weather will improve and bring back more of the PAX in future weeks.  The burpees and donkey kicks were a good kick-starter to getting back in shape.

God is good all of the time!

  • Do not let Handshake play poker

Six strong warriors made their way out to HBR to wonder if anyone grabbed the Q overnight. Hot Potato was announced and we went about our way

Handshake: COP – SHH, Don Qs, Flutterkicks, HRMs, Incorrectly done Scorpion Kicks. Mosey to pullup bar for morning call – 5 Pullups per man while others do 5 Merkins. Jump the fence and commence with a mini-beast of: HRMs, WWIIs, & Squats. Pass Q to YHC

Mosey to PES back lot to find coupons. 35 Overhead presses, run loop. 30 Squats run loop, 20 Sit N Press & loop, 25 Swings. Deposit coupons back and hand over Q to Lighthouse. Down to Heartrbreak Hill.

Run up hill, 5 burpees, back down & 1 burpee. Repeat but 2nd round Bernie up then 3rd round Crab walk up. Boberry gets Q, aka “It’s Bo time…”

Triple Check – Donkey Kicks, Dips, & run up to dugout. Call for time back to flag – 90 seconds of mary. Lighthouse took us out.

NMS – Great to have Loose Goose back out at HBR and some Winter Tour visitors. BB title comes from Handshake trying to trick the pax with a called cumulative burpee beast call of which the PAX was not falling for it. Not much of a poker face on Handshake… Mumblechatter ensued as of whether an All Burpee Beast can be done to which YHC said yes it’s happened at 45MoM, Toga took that Q on a few years ago.
