  • Better Late than Never…part 2 (execused)

This one is a bit more execused. It was a hot potato Q at Hoedown on this Monday morning. EF Hutton started things off and then YHC basically hijacked the cue after Hutton. I guess I had pent up leadership needs inside or something.

Totally forgot what we did but we ended with some four corners and then box jumps without the box. We couldn’t figure out what box jumps without the box were called…but they looked pretty goofy and I probably won’t be doing them again.

All told, it took about 10 minutes to post these backblasts. Not really a ton of time when you think about it. I’ll do better next time.

  • Hoedown Hot-ish Potato

Eight studs rose to the occasion for a mid-May Hoedown.  HP was the order of the day.

    EF Hutton Q

    • COP
    • DORA
    • Plankorama

    Marv Q

    • Stuff on Blacktop
    • Stuff on Handrails
    • More stuff on Blacktop
    • Other stuff

    MOLESKIN

After a brief EF stint at the helm, Marv took the Q and ran with it.  Perhaps a backblast was forthcoming, but the statute of limitations ran out. YHC knows there were eight, Flo is the one in question. If your name belongs, call the hotline.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mosey to Lil’ Blue #1 to gather the Microblocks, 1 per person

Announcements – Convergence at Tredegar Iron Works on Monday 5/19. Gomer Pyle needs volunteers on the Broke D$ck Brigade to help get Coffee and Bagels for the 2nd F after the workout.

    No prayer requests today.

NMS – this is likely one of the quietest workouts YHC has been to in a while. Hardly any mumble chatter. Maybe that means YHC did a good job? YHC hopes everyone has a good week.

  • The Violent Bear It Away

Eight, no nine, no eight morning warriors with simmering violence in their souls converged at Hoedown at 0530. Here’s what went down:

COP at the first Third Church lot: standard fare.

Merkin Jax (c/o Florence) 1:4 ratio : 1 merkin, 4 plank jax, 2 merkins, 8 plank jax, up to 5/20 and all the way back down. Mosey to middle lot

Triple check: P1: Block thrusters , P2: American Hammers , P3: Run the lot. // Round 2: P1: Chest Press, P2: Flutter Kicks, P3: Run the lot. // Round 3: P1 Block Swings, P2: LBCs, P3: Run the lot. Repeato the whole thing with P3 running Bernie Sanders. Mosey to back church lot.

11s: Burpees and WW2s. Mosey back to the start.

    COP: Oblique Merkins, Elbow plank

NMS: Having watched John Wick 4 at the theater last night and having drunk 64 ounces of coke, the Q was running on little sleep and lots of violent fight scenes in his head. One of the first semi-humid mornings where a towel and change of shirt is needed for the drive home. A portent of things to come. Great to have Snuff up north of the river, hope Singer’s GI is ok. SYITG

  • May day

A strong 13 PAX came out for the start of May and see what fun was in store. We did:

COP on blacktop: SSH, Don Qs, Imperial Walkers, Merkins, Flutterkicks, Scorpion kicks. Splinter kid’s fitbit was not there so we moseyed down to bottom of Lindsay. Partner up and alternate bear crawl and lunge back to top. Mosey down to other Cul-de-Sac on Paris Ridge for Dora 123: 100 Burpees, 200 Flutterkicks, 300 Squats.

Mosey back to TES parking lot for everyone’s favorite: Ascending HRMs at each arrow and alternate Crab walk and Lunge. Finish up in the petting zoo tent with 2 min of Mary.

Announcements: CSAUP at Godwin this Saturday morning. Ruck at 6, Bootcamp at 7 and run relay at 8:00.

NMS: Best way to get yourself back on track is to sign up to Q. YHC was glad he did and was met with overwhelming support, especially from Fudd. YHCs only plan was to hit up the Cul-de-Sac(s) Sax?? since those are not on the normal list for YHC. When the 100 Burpees was called for in the Dora there was barely a groan, guess that means we’ll have to drop the burpees in the 200s some day soon. The Petting Zoo tent still smelled of farm animals but no droppings were found.

  • Hoe-T Potato

It was a collaborative effort this AM in the gloom of Tuckahoe Elementary and Hoedown. An absent Q left 7 of us making it up on the fly…and making it up on the fly, we did.

    The Thang…

Handshake took us on a nice little jaunt to the east side of the Walgreens parking lot. COT with some side straddle hops, Donkey Hoteys, LBCs, calf stretches, some LBCs, Mercans.

The PAX then stayed and did a 3X Check…jog around the pharmacy, while the other two did dips and hand release mercans.

EF Hutton took the spud from there and we headed back to the TES parking lot. This was a Dora with pairs. Bernie up the concrete hill three times while we did 100 Imperial Squats, 200 Monkey Humpers and 300 SSHs.

From there Bodo’s took us to the black top where we did a 4 corners. Burpees, Mercans, Carolina Dry Docks, Squats, maybe another one.

YHC, took us out at the end with some American Hammers, 1 minute of elbow planks, Alabama Prom Dates and one (1) Richard Kimball.

Fun mumble chatter on the way to Walgreen’s about the morning Conspiracy showed up 90 seconds late at Munford and TYA basically took the Q to the Museum District to workout. Conspiracy had brought props and wasn’t really all that happy with that.

We’re thinking about our friend Chippendale and hoping Wojo is doing fine.

  • A knee to the head

A perfect 7 warriors gathered to start the week at Hoedown In a comfortable 60 degrees. Here’s how it went down:

Mosey to Splinter’s favorite eternally wet grassy knoll for a warmup of: 20xSSH, 10xHC, 10xAC, 10xHRM, 10x Scorpion kicks and off to the Lindsay loop for a triple check: squats, LBC’s and the timer runs the loop.

Native American back to the drop off loop for PLT’s 2×25 followed by 6 min running timer of ascending burpees. Partner 1 starts with 5 while second man is doing box cutters. Switch for 6, 7, 8…. for 6 min. Mosey over to the wall for the main event.

    8 min kickboxing Tabata with 40s on, 20s people’s chair rest. Jab-Cross R/L, Jab-Cross-Uppercut x 2 R/L, Jab-Cross-Kneex2 R/L, Jab-Cross-Uppercutx2-Hookx2 R/L. No elementary school staff were harmed, though likely were amused…

Wrap up with 2×10 jerkins, 2×20 dips, 2 sets of Australian Mongolian Pigskin one leg squats x 10 with 10 Derkins and an undetermined amount of SSH’s to finish the morning. Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (Whitesnake bluegrass festival on 4/22 – see Slack for details, all the best to Motorboat who is moving to Seattle next week) and YHC took us out.

It was a privilege to lead this morning & thanks for humoring my unconventional Q! Until next time, GP

  • Pyramid Engineering

A lucky 7 emerged from the end of Spring Break, equipped with plenty of Easter candy to tackle all that was in store for them. According to the Easter Bunny, the following may have happened.

Mosey over to 3rd Pres for COP. Report overhead flickering light to the appropriate Pax. So noted.

Over to the back parking lot for indigenous people bear crawl. The pax at the end does 5 burpees, runs to catch up, taps the new 6, and takes point at the front. Somehow Fudd found us and joined mid-exercise.

Over to the third parking lot where we picked up blocks for a modified 4-corners. Curls, overhead presses, APDs with blocks, squats, swings, and tricep extensions.

    LBCs

Triple Check – Partner 1 runs with the block, partner 2 does block bench, and partner 3 does elbow plank.

    Repeat the 4-corners exercise.

Replace blocks in their wooded enclave and perform Lindsays the way home – box cutters and carolina dry-docks.

American Hammers and Flutter Kicks to finish up.

    YHC took us out.
