Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay for a COP with various exercises

Partner up for a Catch me if you Can. P1 does 5 WWII’s and P2 Bernies up the hill, then switch

Mosey over to West Drive and partner up for a Dora. 100 Merkins, 150 WWII’s, 200 Jump Squats. However each partner did half of the exercises

Mosey to Trinity UMC Parking Lot with Splinters route (aka the long way) for a Four Corners. Corner 1 (10) HRM’s (20) WWII’s and repeat at each corner.

Mosey back to the flag for a quick Ring of Fire

Announcements – Pigskin is hosting another Blood Drive on Saturday, June 4th at Epiphany Lutheran at the corner of Monument and Horsepen. Punisher is hosting its weekly? Happy Hour today. There will be a Merkin followed by drinking.

Prayer Requests – Ukraine, Labrat, Tryhards sister

Moleskin – it was a tame and quiet day today. Multiple regulars not in attendance but it was still solid numbers. We were all happy that the rain didn’t come during the beatdown, especially with the cooler temperatures.

  • That Went Quickly. Let’s Do It Again.

A nefarious nine assembled in The Gloom for the latest edition of Hoedown. Weather conditions remained 70 and sunny. According to the two guys chatting at the edge of the Hoedown parking lot, the following quite possibly happened:

Mosey along Forest to the 3rd Church Parking lot for The COP:

    Side Straddle Hops
    Don Quixotes
    Dead Man Hang
Stretch to the Sky (there’s some yoga name that YHC forgets)
Arm Circles (only big ones – none of this small stuff). Backwards, too.
    Hand Release Merkins
    Reverse Crunches
    Rosalitas

Mosey to the Walgreen’s Parking Lot for a Triple Check

Pax 1: Run the perimeter of the lot
Pax 2: Monkey bumpers or squats (Dealer’s choice)
    Pax 3: Flutter kicks

Mosey to the exact same spot for 11’s

Decline merkins on the grassy knoll
    WWIIs along the sidewalk
    Mosey back and forth

Mosey to the 3rd Church Alternate Lot

Dora 50-100-150 (and run the loop CLOCKWISE)

    50 Squat Thrusters
    100 curls
    150 snow angels

There were 9 PAX, so this went, according to Gomer, quickly. No worries, let’s run it back.

2nd Round (Run the loop counter-clockwise)

    150 Squat Thrusters
    100 curls
    50 snow angels

More squat thrusters meant more harder.

Mosey back to the VSF. Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Announcements and Requests:

Prayers for YHC’s buddy Greg who lost him mom to ALS last week.
Prayers for Handshake and his grandmother, who is in hospice. May she be welcomed home peacefully.

Breaking Bread sign ups are ready for May – October. This is a great opportunity to show how F3 men help in the community. Sign up, make a meal for some folks in need (maybe enlist your M and 2.0s to help!), deliver the meal, and reap the rewards of knowing you helped several humans. Sign up on the Q sheet.

    UpChuck spits the bit.

Great work this morning gents. Still amazed Faceplant confidently predicted a win on 3/15 and now has 3 of the final 4 in his bracket…. Always a pleasure to bring back some obscure exercises for Handshake and happy to welcome Marv after the long boot camp hibernation. SYITG ~GP

    MOLESKIN

Couldn’t make out a word of what he said, but Handshake seemed to enjoy his conversation throughout the entirety of the COP.  YHC did hear UpChuck call him fat during the Jack Webbs.  A lesser man might get his feelings hurt.  Handshake did compliment YHC by saying he will be sore today.  Already setting in here.  Abdominals are confused by the volume of activity.  Way to start the week.  Title of the backblast has nothing to do with the workout, but it sure is gratifying to see that as the headline.  Go Hokies!

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Happy Hours this week

  • The Birds Poop Here

Fifteen rogue warriors creeped into The Gloom for the latest edition of The Punisher. Temperatures were disturbingly close to 70 and sunny. According to the unexpected Zing Fitter walking through our AO, the following quite possibly happened:

    Announcements:

The Punisher meets this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the parking lot at Bingo Beer for the 1st F. 2nd of is at 6:15. YHC guesses this will be on the patio.

    NMS:

We welcomed to two new FNGs.

Steve Moore lives on Westham (aka – the heart of F3RVA, castle house, 3 kids, son plays ball with Splinter). Clemson grad. We bounced around on a few names…and even after YHC told him we might go with Lancelot. That said, his neighbor and friend, Pucker, came in at the wire with the winning entry. Let’s all welcome, Farquaad (note the double-A). Note: if Farquaad wants to use “Lord” as a title, that’s approved.
Ben Cox – neighbor of Offshore, 3 kids, volleyball player, realtor / architect. Lots of options, but let’s welcome Treanor (or “hyphen” Treanor), pronounced “Trainer.”

FNGs did great today. YHC bets (and hopes) they will both be back.

YHC also notes that someone has exceptional aim throwing wood chips.

  • Vampires and Light

Hoedown: we had a dozen gather in the gloom at Tuckahoe. I turned on my headlamp with fresh batteries as we gathered prior to the start. This resulted in a ‘vampire terrified of light’ reaction from Handshake. Tuckahoe is pretty dark until the lights at the school turn on at 6:00 AM.

EF Hutton and I have been to a lot of workouts together but this was the first time where he was here when I Q’d. Garbage Plate and Neutral came in a bit late but still found us.

One of the exercises I called is labeled “LaLanne” back in Charlotte where I came from. Jack LaLanne (1914-2011) was famous for preaching the benefits of regular exercise and a good diet. Per Wikipedia, as reported on LaLanne’s website, he performed several noteworthy feats of physical skill and strength. At the age of 70, he towed 70 rowboats, one with several guests, 1 mile. Wikipedia also says that the feats listed were as reported on his website and “not necessarily entirely accurate descriptions of what LaLanne actually did.”

Warmup: Corner Parking lot: 20 SSHs, 10 Man-maker Merkins, 15 knee-ups, stretching exercise

Warmup: side church parking lot: 20 IWs, 10 Diamond Merkins, 15 American Hammers, stretching exercise

Warmup: Back church Parking lot: 20 Squats, 10 Shoulder slap Merkins, 15 Crunchy Frogs, stretching exercise

Find an intersection of the parking lot lines, in cadence: 20 clockwise (jump in each quadrant), stretching exercise, 20 counterclockwise, stretching exercise, 20 back and forth

Warmup: side church Parking lot: 10 Don Quixote, 10 Hand Release Merkins, 20 Dollies, stretching exercise

Wall Courtyard: 10 single count air-press (People’s chair), 10 BTTW hip slaps in cadence, 15 Donkey Kix OYO

Wall Courtyard: 10 single count milkers (People’s chair), 10 BTTW Australian Mountain Climbers in cadence, 15 Donkey Kix OYO

Wall Courtyard: 10 single count Lalannes (People’s chair), 12 BTTW Toe Taps in cadence, 15 Donkey Kix OYO

    Announcements:

2nd F At PBR on Wednesday

    Take-out by YHC

  • Block Party at Trinity

Seventeen elite gentlemen gathered in the moon-lit parking lot for today’s iteration of Hoedown. Men gathered from afar, likely due to today’s pseudo-holiday. Hitchhiker attempted to steal the Q but no one listened. YHC called let’s mosey and the PAX followed down Forest to Trinity.

    COP

    • 20 SSH
    • 10 Helicopters
    • 10 Imperial Walkers
    • 10 Don Quixotes
    • 10 Merkins
    • 10 Freddie Mercuries

    The Thang

While thinking through Q options this weekend, YHC felt like a higher intensity, cardio workout was due. Therefore, a 1K 5K was called. Partner up for 1000 exercises while your partner runs the horseshoe, to Stuart Hall, and back. Exercises were 100 hand release merkins, 200 Lt Dans, 300 WWIIs, 400 SSH. Collect the six as some teams began to finish then mosey back to the VSF.

Digits and alphabetic assignments before YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

Who knew Trinity UMC was such a mecca for early bird walkers? The PAX came across at least 3 individuals doing laps through the parking lot. Since we were 17, they had to modify. Apologies to the neighborhood for crashing the party.

Not much mumblechatter today due to the requirement to count. Most teams were close to finishing the 1k exercises so YHC will call mission accomplished on that one. With about 7 laps and the mosey to and fro, we should have been close on the 5k also. Great push everyone.

Kudos for Florence for calling out coffeeteria after the workout. Seems like there was a strong following converging on the local Starbucks. YHC would have joined you except Henrico decided that a day of recognition for our 46 presidents only deserved half a celebration, so off YHC went to shuttle the youngest to the bus.

Here is link to a brief reflection on the history of this day.

    Announcements

    • Arrive at Source of Truth by 5:50am Saturday to clown car to the Bridge. See Flatline for more details.

Spring mornings are on the horizon. Looking forward to more mornings like today.

    Splinter

  • Superbowl Stumble

9 resilient men sloughed off the soporific haze of beer and nachos to start a new week in the right way. Ahem, to start the second day of the week in a slightly better way. Here’s what went down:

Mosey to the Third Church office back lot for COP: Dead man hang // Helicopters // DQs (aborted for bad counting) // Imperial Walkers // Russian Soldiers // Copperhead Squats // Plank Jacks // Elbow plank // Pickle Pounders // APDs // LBCs // 44 SSH (not my birthday). Mosey to middle lot.

Triple Check: P1 Squat Thrusters // P2: WW2s // P3: run the loop. 3 times round. Second time: P1 Block Merkins // P2 LBCs // P3 Run the loop. 2 times round. Third time: P1 Block Burpee, P2: American Hammers // P3: run 2x round. Mosey to back church lot

Four Corners: Round 1: 15 squats each corner, karaoke, Bernie and sprints along the sides. Round 2: 10 Merkins each Corner. Round 3: 5 Burpees each corner. Mosey to TES car circle

On the wall: People’s Chair // Donkey Kicks // Dirty Hookups

On the ground: 6 inches, spell your Valentine’s name with your feet.

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Slightly smaller numbers this morning.. we guessed that hangovers prevented some and that Hitchhiker probably stayed home to make Valentines for all of us. Thanks for your patience as YHC forgot how to do at least 1/3rd of the exercises.
