Tuckahoe Elementary

  • Looked Easier on You Tube

9 Studly Men started the week by rising to the challenge YHC had laid out. Rain was in the forecast but the conditions were a prime sunny and 70. According to the Tuckahoe Elementary security, here is what was rumored to occur.

5.30 rings and we are off. Quick circle around the loop to collect any late arrivals and mosey to the Teachers Lot for warmarama of the following: SSH’s, Helis, DQ’s, Dead Man Hang, Merkins (regular and 1 leg). All is warm and bright, lets go.

Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay Ct for a complex Dora/Triple Check, whatever it is called. Partner up. Partner 1 – runs to the 1st lit light pole and back while Partner 2 does Lt. Dan, Squats and Carolina Dry Docks. Everyone does 3 sets of each exercise AMRAP. Al Gore for the 6.

Catch me if you Can. Partner 1 – burpee then sprint to catch Partner 2 who is Bernie Sanders up Lindsay Court. Switch and continue to the top. Originally Partner 2 was going to Al Gore but that would not have gotten us very far.

Mosey to the monkey bars for some core work with another Triple Check/Dora – whatever it is called. Partner 1 does 20 hanging V’s (keeping legs straight) from the monkey bars while partner 2 does dips until switch. 3 sets each. 2nd round included 20 hanging knee raises to the one side then switch with your partner who is doing incline merkins. 2nd set was 20 hanging knee raises to the other site for symmetry. Do 2 sets on each side (4 sets total). AG for 6.

Mosey to covered walk way for 3 sets of 10 boxing cockroaches with partner. Times up, BTTF.

Numbers, Names, Announcements, YHC took us out.

Announcements: Rosies’s 12 days of Christmas – No Toll on Tuesday; HDHH – Wednesday at Hardywood West Creek.

NMS: YHC wanted to try the hanging ab work since watching fitness model easily do this on you tube last week. The wet monkey bars made it a bit difficult for grip. Will bring it back out on a dryer day. The grunting of the PAX during the boxing cockroaches alerted a worker of the school to investigate what was happening at 6.10 in the morning. Penny for his thoughts. Appreciation to PAX for patience on the numerous modifications to todays exercises. Always good way to start the week.

  • Demonstration Please?

YHC arrived to find BK had already secured the AO.  Flag was planted and twelve others joined the fun.

    Here’s what was done.

Quick bit of SSHs for the LIFOs.

Warm-up mosey down Lindsay, right on Forest, scare the S out of Forest Ave resident, right on Paris, continue on Hepler, left on Lindsay, and over to soft field behind the blacktop and parking lot.

    MOLESKIN

The Pax was greeted by a beautiful cool morning with a few snowflakes floating to the ground.  All was fine and well until YHC pulled the Scissor Sisters routine from the anals of his Q playbook.  Yep, YHC said anals instead of annals because he’s quite certain the Pax would invite him to shove that one back up his anals.  Haven’t heard that many moans and groans since the instructor tried out his stand-up routine at last year’s annual CPA tax conference.  Thanks for sticking with me, YHC still had fun.

Credit to Bodos for the Bricky-Cakes terminology. Thx to GP suggesting the Arrows at the end. And thx to Handshake serving as Timekeeper this morning. Enjoyed partnering up with GarbagePlate and BaconBits. Anyway, ya’ll rock. Loved to start my birthday enduring the elements and overcoming the hand-grip pain with you. SYITG! ~YHC, DTH
  • Head Shoulders Knees and Toes (sorta)

There were 12 ready to go at the strike of 5:30 this morning at Hoedown. Here’s what went down:

    • YHC took us out in Prayer

    NMS:

    • Always a good time with the Hoedown crew, and enjoyed getting to know BaconBits and HotYoga. Glad to partner up with RogerRoger. Typical snarky mumble chatter from Upchuck and Handshake. If it hurts, you’re doing it right. Keep headlocking those guys who need this! SYITG, YHC, DTH
  • A bold move

It was a cool, not quite crisp, morning at Hoedown for 11 dudes to kick the week off to a solid start. Here’s how it went:

COP: a quick jog to the upper parking lot for SSH x 15, DMH x 10, slow DQ x 10, LBC x 10, Scorpion x 10, HRM x 10, 20x Freddy Mercuries and mosey to the back field.

No sense in easing into it… let’s just start off with a set of 11’s… pull ups and burpees. Some groans and little mumble chatter but we rocked it. Followed up with a couple lengths of the back field, partner up and alternate runs with lunges. Round two was alternating run and the all new gorilla shuffle; an instant Hoedown classic.

Mosey to the upper lot for basketball plank challenge. PAX held various plank positions on the fence side of the lot and completed 3 sets of 10x HRM while each person traversed the lot, made a basket and returned.

Head down to the asphalt hill for a quickie triple check. Timer was a crawl bear up the hill while others did LBCs and jack squats. Mosey to the railings for three sets of 8 jerkins.

Finished up the morning with some Mary – 10x WWII, 25x Flutters, 15x Hello Dolly, 10x Rosalitas, 20x LBC and some stretching. Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (RAMM amateur ride on Friday with Spit, Thanksgiving convergence 6a at Mumford, Forest Hill Black Friday challenge) and YHC took us out.

Moleskine: Great work today gents – I must have had Q energy when coming up with a plan… the workout seemed harder than it looked on a 3×5 card. For those counting Merkins, tally up a 40x total for the morning. Until next time, GP

  • By the Light of the Waning Gibbous

8 studs gathered in the gloom to start the week the right way. With the time change we thought we might have more light, but had to settle for the 97% lunar illumination of the waning gibbous. Still pretty great.

Mosey to the bottom of Lindsay Court.

COP, all IC: SSH // Deadman Hang // helicopters // DQs // Cherry Pickers // Imperial Walkers // Lt Dans (6ct.) // Alabama Prom Dates // LBCs // Merkins

Up the Hill: Parter up. P1 runs up to the top of Lindsay Ct and back. P2 performs lunges. Flipflop when P1 returns. // Round 2: Bear Crawl // Round 3: Broad Jump Burpees.

Mosey to middle lot of Third Church

Flora! (Dora + Coupon). Partner up. 100 Incline Merkins on the Coupon // 200 Reverse Crunches with Coupon on Chest // 300 Squats with Coupon. Plank when done, 25x Pickle Pounders for good measure.

Mosey to back Third Church lot

Run + Burpees + Wall: Partner 1. P1 runs to end of lot, performs 3 burpees, runs back. P2 is on the wall with Balls to the Wall. Flip Flop // Round 2: Wall Sit // Round 3: Donkey Kicks.

    Mosey back to the Flag.

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

NMS: Really enjoyed the first truly cold morning today. Very impressed by eHarmony who has posted 4 times since Wednesday. We have a committed brother in the making! Prayers for peace this week.

  • 13 for The Triple Lindy

A band of 13 men abandoned the Fartsack to take over Tuckahoe and this is what transpired.

Mosey down Forest to Spottswood, 10 Merkins, 20 Squats, 30 SSH’ then continue up the road to the back parking lot of Bodos’ church for COP.

Mosey back over to the teachers lot at Tuckahoe for The Triple Lindy. The group was broken in half and started on opposite sides of the lot. Everyone Bear Crawls on the top side of the lot between Parking Spots with 3 Merkins done at each spot (10 spots total), switch to Crab Walk and 5 WWII’s on the bottom side of the Lot. Repeat 3 times. Total of 90 Merkins and 150 WWII’s.

Mosey to the top of the Blacktop/Recess Lot. Partner Up for a Dora. 100 Squats, 200 Single Count Flutters, 300 SSH’s while the opposite partner runs to Fence and back.

Mosey to the Small Bus Loop. Triple Check. Partner 1 Wall Sits, Partner 2 LBC’s, Partner 3 Bernie Sanders around the Bus Loop.

Announcements: Breaking Bread. 4th Saturday and Sunday night, but no openings until March unless you Tag Team with someone else.

NMS – Not a lot of Mumble Chatter this morning, but definitely some residual jokes from Saturdays post beatdown breakfast. Despite a lack of sleep this was the best way to start my Monday. The Triple Lindy name comes from the 1980’s classic Back to School. Bonus points to Pucker for immediately recognizing the name.

Welcome to FNG Road Rash! A solid nickname came out of the woodwork despite Bodo’s best attempts to neuter it.

  • Over the river and through the woods

A band of 8 Stallions broke free of the chains of the Fartsack and took to the streets of Tuckahoe and this is what transpired.

COP – Side Straddle Hops, Swirly’s Dead Man Hangs, Don Quixote’s, LBC’s, Inverted Scorpion Kicks, Merkins

Mosey down Hepler Road to the corner of Paris and Paris Ridge. Partner Up. Round 1 – P1 runs to cul-de-sac and does 2 Burpess and runs back, P2 does WWII’s, Round 2 – P1 runs to cul-de-sac and does 2 Burpess and runs back, P2 does Merkins, Round 3 – P1 runs to cul-de-sac and does 2 Burpess and runs back, P2 does Jump Squats

Mosey down Paris to Forest to Trinity UMC and partnered up. P1 held P2’s Legs and P2 did Wheelbarrow walks and switched as needed until they reached the road. Crabwalk back to original location.

Next up at Trinity: Ascending and Descending Four Corners. Corner 1 – 10 Hand Release Merkins, Corner 2 – 10 Hand Release Merkins and 20 WWI’s, Corner 3 – 10 Hand Release Merkins, 20 WWII’s, 30 two-count Flutter Kicks, Corner 4 10 Hand Release Merkins, 20 WWII’s, 30 two-count Flutter Kicks, 40 SSH’s. Repeat Corner 4 and descend back to Corner 1 and 10 Hand Release Merkins

At this point YHC asked if anyone knew the long way back and Splinter said he did. Splinter took us Rock Creek to Baldwin and then he asked YHC if he wanted to cut through the Park. YHC wasn’t thinking clearly about the Creek but agreed. We Forded the Creek to Lindsay Court and Bernie Sandered to the top of Lindsay Court and moseyed back to the flag.

Announcements – Gomer is working with TYA to get a team for the CSAUP.

NMS – Splinter has decided to take control of his destiny and has signed up to Q both Heartbreak on Tuesday and First Watch on Wednesday. After being skipped on multiple Hot Potatoes and having the entire Pax revolt last week and abandon First Watch for W-Dog he figures that he’d have better luck if he signed up for two days in a row. That being said if you liked crossing the creek in the complete darkness today then you’ll be in for a real treat over the next couple of days. On other notes, both Honeydo and Upchuck give YHC Flak for not Q-ing enough and neither showed today (and they both were well aware YHC was The Q).

Cheers men, thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead.

  • It Smells Like Worms

Indeed, Bodo’s “smelled the worms” when 7 prime suspects partnered in the Gloom for today’s edition of The Hoedown. Temperatures were, once again, sunny and 70 at F3RVA’s darkest AO.

Short Mosey to the 3rd Church Parking Lot:

    SSHs x 20
    Dead Man’s Hang
    Scorpion Kicks (feel the wetness)
Reverse Scorpion Kicks (feel more of the wetness)
    Hillbillies x10
    WWIIs x10
    HRMs x10

Mosey to the corner of Lindsey and Forest for a duopoly of crawling.
Partner up in 2s and 3s.
Round 1: 3 rounds of bear crawl to the TES sign. Partner does reverse crunches.
Round 2: 3 rounds of Army crawl. Flutter kicks.

Mosey to the big tree for Touch-a-Tree.

Touch each of the 5 trees. Do 7 merkins at each in-line tree and 7 burpees at the one off-set tree. Crawl between trees. Dealer’s Choice on the type of crawl. PAX varied the type of crawl between trees. YHC did bear crawl, polar bear crawl, crab walk, and Army crawl.

Mosey to the Teacher’s Parking Lot for parking space repeats:

Round 1: 3 merkins, 3 Carolina Dry Docks, 3 SSHs.
    Round 2: 5 WWIIs, 5 LBCs, 5 Hello Dollys

Mosey out of the way of the Teacher and to the Brick Wall. Start doing Chicken Peckers, then stop, then start again. YHC apologizes.

Mosey to the horseshoe for a Ring of Fire and Mary.

ROF: Dealer’s Choice; no repeats. PAX chose: Regular, diamond, Peter Parker, Hitchhiker, YHC didn’t see whatever GP did, Chuck Norris, and HRMs.

Mary: American Hammers, Rosalita’s, Box Cutters

    Announcements:

Beer Mile to celebrate the life of Captain Shawn G. Hogan, USA Green Beret. This is now on Saturday, despite having been, according to Handshake, on a Friday for the first 7 or so years. Handshake is fine with this. Really. Bring 4 beers (if you don’t drink alcohol, bring O’Doul’s). Drink one beer. Run a quarter mile. Repeat this 4 times. Vomit OYO AYG.
Shawn Hogan was a college friend of Faceplant and Handshake and a generally super-capable and accomplished guy. He died far too young in a training accident while serving our country. Side note: Faceplant has nearly killed several PAX, including YHC, doing “The Hogan,” a ridiculous workout that Shawn apparently considered a warm-up. Come out and celebrate someone who would have been an awesome PAX member.

CSAUP October 23 weekend. Build a team. Run/bike/hike/walk/crawl to Williamsburg. Reverso. Done. The is an OYO event, so your team will plan for your team.

For the last 4+ years, F3RVA has had one charitable activity that it semi-sponsors. If you are relatively new to F3RVA, this is on the Q sheet as,”Breaking Bread.” Fourth Sunday of every month. PAX (sometimes with a friend and surely with their family/kids) sign up to bring dinner to 10-15 people recovering from injuries or illnesses at the Medical Respite on Belt Blvd. This facility helps humans who have no other place to recover.

Most of us will never need Medical Respite. For that matter, most of us do not have a reason to drive on Belt Blvd. Due to COVID, other groups have pulled out of helping provide meals. That is F3RVA’s reason to step-up going forward. We are going to take two nights per month instead of one (fourth Saturday and fourth Sunday). That means F3RVA is asking you to step-up. Some PAX have already volunteered to take on the extra load. YHC asks that you do the same. Look for the sign-up on the Q Sheet, and look for reminders from YHC, who thanks you in advance.

If group dinner sounds hard, it is not. You make dinner for 10-15 humans. You deliver it. They thank you profusely. You are done. Boom. It’s far easier than a Spit Q, the IPC, a CSAUP, or any exercise that references executions or varmints. And, these people need your help. Also, if you want to impress your M with a monologue about an F3 event, do this one. Unlike an incessant description of the length of Twin Team hill, the number of steps in the Amphitheater, or anything involving a “coupon,” this activity will actually impress her. And, kids dig a dad who helps people.

    NMS:

    Hitchhiker – these are hillbillies.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC-13JtWu1w
The guy at 1:35 with the pocket protector is my favorite.

This is Jin Suk Lim. Not the same guy as the one I know, but still a Suk.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lim_Jin-suk
