Midlothian Middle

  • Split Time

Arrived at MOT to 2 other PAX at the AO, one set on bringing back SOT with a boot camp and the other up for a bit of both, we set out on a route to get Singer back for some boot camp time with Doozy. Down Mt. Midlo and around Woolridge, and back home. Out for loop 2, Singer stuck with me down Coalfield before heading back to SOT. YHC picked up the pace a bit to get around Woolridge with a brief detour into the Grove.

    • Chili Cook-off – 11/23
    • Daddy Daughter Dance – 12/6
    • Other things to come…
  • the NASCAR route

this weeks edition of the Miles Of Truth run was mostly successful. Only two falls by a PAX who shall not be named here…. YHC went for simple on the route, and let’s just say Derek Zoolander would not have been able to do it.
4s: left on 60, left on Charter Colony, left on Woolridge , left to take the loop at Midlo mines park, left back onto Woolridge, left onto 60, finish at invisible shovel flag.
5s: before ISF, left at top of mt Midlo, left through new townhomes neighborhood, left on Woolridge, left onto 60, back ISF

Numbers, names, announcements, YHC took us out

EF Hutton going to bridge a week from Saturday, gingerbread contest at hardywood downtown on Sunday, if you or someone you know needs a ham or seasonal work see YHC, prayers for Drapers neighbor.
    NMM

Great to be back out with the crew at MOT!! This a great running AO with lots of options for routes. Great to catch up fellow PAX. No ironPAX today 😂

  • Stick to the Route

After hours and hours of mapping alternative routes, YHC came up with 2 solid options for 4 and 5 miles from Midlo Middle. Of the 5 that launched, only 1 stuck to their original plan. The 5 milers got caught up in conversation and an easy pace and cut the route short to catch Singer and Bullseye. When we did, Bullseye pulled a reverso and headed back to shorten the route a bit. No worries, miles were run, stories were told, problems were solved, solutions were forgotten.

Give it away this week. You will undoubtedly see friends and neighbors at Halloween events over the next few days. Invite someone, hit up a a guy to make his way back to the gloom, physically headlock someone if you want. You never know who needs a boost or the camaraderie of the gloom.

  • Route – Wing It

Good thing I had Rosie and Bullseye with me today or I would have been lost. Revisiting google maps, the route went something like this:

Down Mount Midlo, around the lake (called Loch Lothian?! Great name by the way), out Midlo Mines Park to Kingham Drive. Left on Grove Hill up to Coalfield, left then right on Manders Dr. Right on Charter Colony, right on Charter, right on Woolridge, left on Coalfield and back to start. 4.5ish miles according to the route but watches were defunct for various reasons.

Nice run today fellas, appreciated the conversation and pace.

  • R.I.P. to the D.L.C

Wanted to start by paying respect to YHC’s fantasy football team, which was unceremoniously eliminated from the F3 Guillotine League this week. Until next year!

Now onto the workout at hand……………5 of us gathered at Midlothian Middle School for the latest edition of Miles of Truth. Could not have asked for better running weather! My instructions were incredibly concise. We started out on Mt. Pisgah road and made our way onto Coalfield Road to the YMCA. The route took us down the hill to Midlothian Mines Park. One loop on the trail, then back up the hill to Midlo Tnpk, and back to the school. Heist, Rosie, and YHC added a lap around the track. Bullseye and Singer emerged from the opposite direction. Excellent conversation and a nice smooth pace this morning. Everyone made it back alive.

Check Slack for all the events coming up. SYITG.

  • Old men running fast

At least that’s what it felt like… until we arrived back at the flag with fewer miles than expected.
    Next time we’ll be faster.

  • Rainy MoT

Guess who went to a S of the James F3 sanctioned run? Yep, Bullseye and YHC. No one to report back to, a longer route was opted during the exercise to nearly 5 miles through Salisbury and out Winterfield. Good to get a little extra credit.

  • There’s a loop in there somewhere

7 gentlemen, including 2 that have not posted in a while, showed up in the mist to generally run in the direction the Q called. Quick instructions to get the most out of the hills for 4 or 5 milers. 4s go straight down Mt. Midlo into the Grove and up to Coalfield, loop back around the median and repeat the hill then return to the start. 5s start around on Midlo to Woolridge then to the Grove and do the same hill repeat, add as many Mt. Midlo repeats as time allows (is was 3).

Great to have Rosetta and Greenbow back out to get some miles. Greenbow is working off some plantar fasciitis and has a stretch that my joints and muscles would not allow. Boberry is a machine and is coming off a 100k relay but still wanted to come up to add some miles to the week to prepare for his 8-hour run fest in October. Somehow Rosetta keeps the conversation going on the uphill part of the repeats after not running for months.

Got a few things kicking in the coming weeks, come join in the fun for one or all of them:

    • Elle Woods is hosting a family friendly get together this Saturday, 9/13, afternoon, 3pm – let him know if you can make it
    • Sept 20 – 11 Years of F3RVA – Dogpile – more info to come
    • Sept 26 8pm to Midnight-ish – Evening Ruck with Crabgrass and Friends – See Slack for details

  • Where is the Y?

Excellent running weather this morning! YHC’s incredibly detailed route required the PAX to find a paved trail near the pond. This takes you up to the YMCA parking lot. Don Draper and I circled the soccer field, then made our way back to Midlothian Middle – a lap around the school and track finished things off. Bullseye/Singer reportedly asked for directions at one point…………But at 6:15 everyone was accounted for!

Had a great time this morning – it has been awhile since I posted at MOT, or run for that matter. Appreciate the wise words from Draper on a variety of subjects

  • MOT Solo Run

5:30 AM, lace up the running shoe straps and off YHC went into the gloom. Winterfield -> Salisbury route and around the school for 3.75 miles. Passed a good number of people out this morning through the mist but no signs of F3 garb. Maybe the Homegrown Half wore em down.
