Huguenot Park

  • Timekeeper takeover

An amazing 15 studs of SOJ appeared in the darkest gloom to see what YHC had in store for class this morning. Many clocks hit 5.30 but not the Q’s so we wait. According to the ample onlookers enjoying the morning, here is how things went down.

Mosey to the main parking lot in search of light. Finding an operable light post, circle up for introductions, disclaimers and warmups. At the time no FNG’s are accounted for. YHC led warmarama that included SSH’s DQ’s, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Copperhead Squats, Jazzercise (with toe tap), LBC’s, Suzanne Summers and Freddies. All is warm and right with the world. Lets make our mosey.

To the covered patio, still no FNG in sight. How does a 7 of diamonds sound? 2 fields so lets mix it up a bit. Start on the small field, 7 reps of an exercise (Peter Parker Merkins) at each corner. Come back to the covering for 15 dips on the bench for the cherry on top. Move to the big field, 14 (WWII’s) reps at each corner, with the cherry on top (15 dips). Back to the small field, 21 (Carolina Dry Docks) reps at each corner, don’t forget the cherry. Big field, 28 monkey humpers at each corner, cherry on top. Small field (21) LBC’s with the cherry kicker. Big field, 14 American Hammers, cherry. Small field, 7 burpees at each corner. Finish with a cherry. Still no FNG.

Wosey to the gate and pick up the pace back to the bridge to pay the toll. 25 incline Merkins. This is where we find our FNG. BTTVF flag for quick merkin ring of fire. Time is called. Names, Numbers, Announcements, Prayers. Doozy took us out.

Announcements: Labor Day Convergence at Dogpile. Monday Sept. 4 @ 7. Q is open if you are interested and in town. F3RVA Anniversary Convergence Sat. Sept. 23 @ Crucible. Offshore is leading that. Sit & Sip coming up in September also. Welcome No Show to the group. Hope to see you back out for a full workout soon.

NMS: Great numbers as the summer travelers are settling down for the fall. 7 of diamonds always provides a variety of exercises while avoiding Burpee 11’s. Good mumble chatter by the turtles bringing up the rear. Not quite sure what the rabbits discussed up front. Fields were especially plush this morning, always enjoyable. Thank you gents for giving me the opportunity to lead.

  • NTB’s VQ – Beatdown Buffet

Nineteen stallions came out of their RVA stables this morning to see what the youngster had in store for his VQ. The forecast was 70 and Sunny with humidity cranked up to 110%. Little did YHC know that time moves very slowly when you grab the Q, so a beatdown breakfast quickly became a large beatdown buffet. According to the one bike rider wearing glow sticks, the following may have happened:

    WARMARAMA:

    • Mosey through the woods 1/4 mile. YHC admittedly missed the turn for the pickleball parking lot on the back of the park, so with pickleball no longer an option for the days workout we stopped on the trail for a short series of IC movements:
      • SSH
      • Lunges
      • LBCs
    • Mosey back through the woods to the soccer field parking lot.

    COP #1: Four Corners

    • 10 Merkins
    • 10 Squats
    • 10 Carolina Dry Docks
    • 10 Monkey Humpers
    • Mosey to the soccer fields.

    COP #2: Checkpoint Charlie

    • Divide the PAX into two groups for a race through a series of exercise checkpoints.
    • PAX must move as a unit from checkpoint to checkpoint.
    • Each checkpoint listed two movements. The PAX that got there first could pick which exercise they performed.
      • Buy-In: 10 burpees to get the heart rate going again.
      • Checkpoint 1: 20 Merkins or 20 Carolina Dry Docks
      • Checkpoint 2: 30 Squats or 30 Single-Leg Lunges
      • Checkpoint 3: 40 Plank Jacks or 40 Mountain Climbers
      • Checkpoint 4: 100 SSH or 100 LBCs
      • Checkpoint 5: 30 Single Shoulder Taps or 30 Freddie Mercuries
      • Checkpoint 6: 10 Burpees or Rest
    • Mosey to the Basketball Courts

    COP #3: Suicide Bear

    • Starting at the baseline, bear crawl to the free-throw line, 10 WWII’s, Bernie back to the baseline. Repeat across the length of the court.
    • Still 15min left on the clock! What else can we cook up for the buffet?

    COP #4: 11’s – Burpees and Squats

    • Perform 10 burpees at the baseline, then mosey to the other baseline for 1 squat.
    • Mosey back and forth completing 9/2, 8/3, 7/4, 6/5, 5/6, 4/7, 3/8, 2/9, 1/10 reps.

    COP #5: Ring of Fire

    • What can we do for the final five minutes?? Circle up for ring of fire. PAX holds feet off the ground while each member takes turns performing 10 reps of their preferred ab exercise.

    COT: Numberama, Namearama, Announcerama, Prayer

    • SOJ CSAUP Half-Marathon and 10K – 8/19 – Robious Landing Part @ 0530 (Don Draper)
    • Pickleball Doubles Tournament – 8/26 – Batteau (Forest Hill Part)
    • Pray for Doozy’s neighbor who is having a post-op scan for cancer in his neck.
    • Pray for baby Ivy and her family as she is fighting for her life with several complications. Be on the lookout for a September workout at the Alamo to show support for them.

    Moleskin

YHC was too absorbed with thinking through each COP to appreciate the mumble chatter, though I heard afterwards it was rich. It means a lot to me that so many HIMs would show up to support the VQ, thank you. It was an honor to lead and I look forward to signing up to Q many more in the future. I showed up to NoToll for my first F3 workout in June hoping to find a community that would hold me accountable to show up and work hard and you guys have delivered just that.

  • Dawn at the Roxbury

13 SOJ bootcamp studs and 2 broga-loving tuckahoe strollers denied the fartsack any victory and instead embraced the cool gloom of NoToll. Here’s the dragon the bootcampers slayed:

    NMS:

It’s been a minute sense YHC has had a Q so while thinking through a plan last night, YHC was hoping to remember how to Q. Almost forgot how to count Man Killers but made an adjustment on the fly and all seemed to work out well. It didn’t take long (on the 9 count) until NTB figured out why everyone loves Man Killers. Just think, you don’t have to do anymore Burpees for the rest of the day

  • Bruce Lee 50yr

13 Macho men made their way through the abb gauntlet that Bruce Lee laid down. With the Weinke hankie in his pocket Machismo stated the Warmarama.

Toll of 20 dips and inerkins.

suicide to kill 2 min. Then names and numbers.

YHC reflected on taking the most out of every day because aspirin can kill you (Bruce Lee). Prayers for Belay and his family as they lay to rest his grandfather in Iceland. Welcome F3 RVAs newest member CH3. Chris owns a propane delivery business (20lb cylinders) so OC got wise and wanted to name him the chemical formula for propane. As fate would have it CH3 (CH3 Methyl Group) is methane. So Chris for your excessively long fart sack welcome your name will be remembered as chemically complicated but technically cow farts. Looking forward to beating down the gloom with you!

  • Soggy Jorts, Fast Hands

15 hungry studs dutifully awaited their fearless leader in the NoToll parking lot, with Oyster (making sure a hot potato bootcamp didn’t happen) standing ready with backup cones and disc just in case their Q fartsacked… haha, yeah right! Let’s go to work!

    The THANG:

    WARMERAMA:

    • Mosey to the field and circle up
    • ROSIE led the PAX in a warmerama while cones were placed
    • Moseyrama lap around the Ultimate Field
    • Split up into 2 teams of 8

    ULTIMATE FRISBEE:

    • With a strong short pass game, the darker shirts led 4-0 before the lighter shirts finally made a TD. x5 Burpees was awarded to the WINNING team for each TD while the losers walked.
    • Machismo put his legs to work in the blocking of passes. Snuff became increasingly irritable. Mr Roper got handsy. Hornydo made love to the sideline. Last Call made some effortless catches and took a bow in the end zone.
    • But you can’t get past fast hands walking the disc up the field – extra credit to Oyster, Draper, Roger Roger and OC in this department.
    • The dark team continued their dominating performance, ending the day with a 10-4 win. That’s 50 burpees making the strong guys stronger.

    Mosey BTTF for COT:

    • Counterama # 16
    • Namerama
    • Announcerama (see Below)
    • YHC took the PAX out in Prayer

NMS: No significant injuries were endured in the making of this softcore 8mm reel – sorry Snuff. Good to meet Balay though we really need to get this guy to a bootcamp so he knows we don’t just play spanky in the gloomy dew. Always a pleasure to play on the winning team. Thx for letting Oyster, I mean Rosie, I mean YHC lead today. SYITG, DTH

    MOLESKIN

Forgive me PAX for I have sinned, it has been 1,288 days since my last No Toll Q, shameful.  All jokes aside, it was awesome to be back at No Toll and lead.  YHC swears he used to be there and do that all the time.  Then SpiderRun became too convenient.  Always fun to see old faces, meet new ones, and have a familiar face pop up.  Someone commented that YHC must be angry today.  I was going to joke that if I wanted to kill the SOJ guys I’d have sent Pigskin to Q, but he was there, so perhaps guilty by association.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Ultimate at No Toll 7/18

    Prayers for Toto

  • Do you best Tommy Tanks impression

14 dirtbags showed up to Huguenot Little League to see if the field were playable. They were, so this is what transpired:

2 foul pole to foul pole runs to loosen up, then COP with various exercises meant to keep our hands dry and then it was time for the main show.

3 swings (not pitches). Make them count. Anything other than a fair ball over the fence is an out. Given the numbers, we had a second round with 2 swings. We had 6 HRs in total in the first round and 4 in the second.

This year’s winner (with 2 HRs in each round) was NTB – a newcomer taking the title from YHC. Honeymoon, Warby, McRib and Rosie each launched HRs in round 1 and McRib and Rosie double-dipped with a HR each in round 2.

YHC took the bagel along with everyone else, although I think I may have won the Exit Velo competition with my last hit. Turns out you need both Exit Velo and Launch Angle for a HR, right NTB?

Warby and Snuff put on stellar defensive shows. Nothing like EF Hutton’s HR robbery of last year, but good enough to get on YHC’s list for the F3 RVA Softball team should there ever be one.

Great fun. Well done guys. I know the rain kept people away, so YHC will look for a late July date to run this back! I’m waiting for NTB to let me know when he is out of town. Maybe McRib and Rosie too!

Welcome to Bow Tie (McRib’s 2.0). We stuck with the food theme for the family but we missed the obvious name – Riblet. Thanks for coming out Bow Tie.

No announcements – we almost forgot to circle up. YHC was too depressed.

Until next time, No More Gumbo For You.

  • Well Endowed Dodgeball

A quartet of early risers denied the temptation of the fartsack to enjoy the spirited elementary recess playground favorite of the past. According to the plethora of squirrels enjoying the various waste disposal facilities, here is what occured.

Mosey to the parking lot for introductions, disclaimers and warm ups that included SSH’s, DQ’s, Ukrainian Soldiers, Cherry Pickers, Merkins, Dancing Bears, Hello Dollies and Dying Cockroaches. All is warm and good with the world, onwards to the plush, sprinkled turf.

    COP 1: Quarter Pounder: Start at the well saturated touchline. Run 25 yards – 25 merkins, return to the touch (Bernie if your nasty). Run 25 yard – 25 merkins, 50 yards – 50 LBC’s, return to the touch. 25 yard – 25 merkins, 50 yards – 50 LBC’s, 75 yards – 75 flutters (2 count), return to touch. 25 yard – 25 merkins, 50 yards – 50 LBC’s, 75 yards – 75 flutters, 100 yards – 100 monkey humpers, return to touch.

COP 2: Mosey to the gate: Quadruple check. Timer runs to the water tower and back, Squats, Pole Smokers, Carolina Drydocks. 2 rounds.

COP 3: Dodgeball: Short jaunt to the tennis courts. Teams of 2 for partner dodgeball. Must stay within the single tennis court unless retrieving a ball. Upon getting hit or someone catching your throw, victim runs around both courts with burpees at each corner. DTH and Dealer were the victors on this day. NTB was admirable in defeat with YHC hit multiple times.

BTTVF: Numbers, Names, Announcements, Prayers, YHC took us out

    Announcements:

    • Kubota is leading Deliverance paddling session tomorrow. Bring your boat and your donation to the river gods. 5 am launch from Huguenot Flatwater.
    • DTH is leading Alamo on Monday, bringing an FNG with him.
    • No Toll will be at Huguenot Little League next Tuesday (6/27) for Gumbos Home Run Derby, 5.30 launch. Bangers and Mash are on the menu.

Prayers for Dealers coworker who lost her daughter recently.

NMS: Thank you for the fellows for joining me this morning in trying something new. Dodgeball was a good mix with plenty of burpees for YHC. Balls are sloppy with DTH finding an interesting way to carry his arsenal. Look to bring this back in the future. Thank you gents for playing along.

  • Back at No Toll(finally)

It has been way too long since I had ventured to No Toll for a workout(it will not be the last). A nice clear morning, conditions felt good for a great workout to commence. After everyone arrived(6 in total for today), a little mosey down to the lot near the fields for the warm-up. SSH, Helicopters, Don Quixotes, Imperial Walkers, Ukrainian Soldiers, Merkins, and LBCs was the beginning. A short mosey over to the mini pavilion for the first of 2 Triple Checks. The first consisted of: Plank Jacks, Step ups and the run. The second one tricep dips, decline merkins and the run. The run part added a little twist: first one regular, second regular with bernie back, the final regular with shuffles, switch directions at the halfway point. Once everyone returned, then it was back to the courts. I forgot No Toll is more condensed not like Rock n Roll where it’s spread out more.

At the courts….4 corner prostitute style. 10 Merkins, 20 Jump squats, 30 double count flutter kicks, 40 SSH. The added kicker example after you did the merkins, a little bear crawl then you hit the next corner. After the jump squats, a little crab walk then run to the next. To add not only a little mobility but hit muscles that are not used a lot. In time, the idea is to get the body moving that it feels free, not stiff.

Still had time left so another 4 corner but this time it was dealer’s choice. I called out a person, we did an exercise. On the way to one corner, walking lunges, another we bernied. Monkey Humpers, Alabama Prom Dates, WW2 in cadence, etc. Back to the baseline for a mini dora….25 Merkins, 50 LBCs and 75 jump ropes to finish. A small run to the flag for a quick stretch and time

Count outs, Announcements and prayer by YHC to take us out

Welcome Matt(NTB) to the group. He comes to us originally from Raleigh, found out about F3 on a recent vacation and did great for his first time. I am sure we will see more of him(NTB Need to Breath his first concert a southern rock band). Machismo will be at SOT tomorrow. Lets come on out and support him, give him a good group to train and lead us

It was nice to be back at No Toll. Way too long since I hit that one but will adjust between that and Old hundred for Tuesday Kettlebells to get my body something more to train. Have a good one and see you tomorrow
