  • Seasonal Menu: Gumbo’s Back. Get it while it’s hot!

13 hungry fellas (including 1 FNG – Ryan and 3 or 4 who posted early for BROGA) came out to NoToll this morning for a heaping helping of Gumbo. It hasn’t been on the menu for 266 days, so this was kind of the like the McRib coming back. Here is how the servings were dished out:

Damn it was great to get back in the circle and lead such a fine group of men. 266 days is way to long. That won’t happen again. Thanks for following today. Make it a great day men!

  • Feelin’ FRESH!

The cooler NoToll gloom brought together two Broga enthusiasts, 5 on-time HIM’s, the classically late arrival of our beloved Fresh Prince (Welcome back!), and two late-arrival vets from the deep south, who got misdirected by maps to a nearby parking lot. NMS:  Beautiful SOJ morning with a healthy PAX getting after it! Enjoyed a bit more running today than the usual beatdown, and graced the men with a robust dose of 8-count exercises. Awesome to have Fresh Prince back out after an IR hiatus, and WOW that man can move! Also a pleasure to welcome Vagabond & Kelly from the deep south – keep coming back fellas! If you missed your friendly neighborhood dose of the good Doctor’s sweatfest therapy, there’ll be a similar high intensity opportunity on Thursday at the Forge. You versus you! SYITG, YHC, DTH

  • If we did rename him, is there a better F3 name than Gumbo?

13 Strong men made their way through the fog, 1 solo Broga master, 1 former FNG now regular, 1 blast from the past, 1 that took a wrong turn and crossed the river and 9 regulars. According to the older gentleman that walks the perimeter of the park this is what he recalls.

    NMS:

It was good to see Gumbo back out in the Gloom but after being gone for so long some of the PAX was thinking he might need a new name. Much thought was given but really Gumbo is the best name the PAX could think of so no change was made. Handshake made his way south of the river and it was good to see him too. Unfortunately, YHC was not willing to get out of the fartsack early this morning and Last Call had to do Broga all by himself which might have freaked the dog walkers out just a bit. T-Claps for Loogie making his second F3 appearance, keep posting brother it might get easier one day.

  • Diamond, Square, or whatever Nancy says

5 SOJ regulars were graced by the presence of an FNG and 3 New Marketeers that found their way to the lush fields of No Toll this morning to see what YHC had planned to work off the festivities of the long holiday weekend. Iron Pax was threatened but this is what occurred to the best of my knowledge.

F3 Disclaimer and Warmarama in typical No Toll location that included SSH, Dead Man Hang, Imperial Walkers, Russian Soldiers and Copperhead Squats.

Mosey to far field for 7 of Diamonds. 4 sets of exercises with 1/2 field mosey between sets. Exercises included 7 Hand Release Merkins, 14 World War II’s, 21 Imperial Squat Walkers, 28 Carolina Dry Docks, 21 Jump Squats, 14 Scrunchy Frogs, 7 Burpees.

Remain under the Pavilion for Triple Check: Timer runs across the field, Elevated Merkins & Dips on the bench.

Mosey back to the restrooms for another Triple Check: Timer runs to end of the parking lot, Pole Smokers, Peoples Chair. Time for only 1 round and back to the flag.

  • Dora meets Beast

4 gloom warriors made it out this morning to the plush fields of No Toll for a high volume beatdown, Ollivander style. According to eye witness reports that can neither be confirmed nor denied, here’s what went down:

COP: 9 Don Quixote, 10 Cherry Pickers, 25 SSH, 10 Burpees OYO

Mosey to field #1 and partner up for a Dora – 100 merkins, 200 LBCs, 300 squats. Finish with a shakeout jog around the field.

Mosey to field #2 for a proper 6 set Beast – Merkins, 2 count Mountain Climbers, Jump Squats, Carolina Dry Docks, 2 count Flutter kicks, and Burpees to finish.

Mosey along the trail to the pull-up bar for a ‘do as many pull-ups as you can’ challenge

Mosey back to parking lot for Numbers / Names. YHC took us out.

NMS: This was YHC’s first time back in the Q saddle since COVID. It was also the most proud I’ve been of a group of men. These 3 warriors pushed themselves to the limit and then took a step over that. When it’s a small crew you can’t hide among folks. And I saw Crash Test Dummy, Bullseye, and Last Call rise to the challenge and dig deep into that well of strength and endurance because they wanted to better themselves. Hats off to you guys. So grateful for the chance to lead. Until next time, be dareful out there!
