6 HIMs skipped the coffee on a warm morning and got to work! Rudy needed a minute so we did a quick lap around the block, rendezvoused, and off we went. Travelled to the depths of Bayfront, swung by Studfinder’s cul-de-sac, then up and around Alamo and back to the start. Just short of 3.5 miles.

Today we pondered how effective the Paw Patrol would be in real life without having thumbs; would Donald Duck really eat turkey on Thanksgiving; Matlock took notes of Rudy’s hot takes on the Broncos upcoming 6-11 season; and how we can use ice cream to get more guys out to F3

  • half and half

Two gentlemen met in the pre pre dawn gloom for a mix of speed work and weighted exercises. Started with a few slow laps around the track, then 1 lap at 8min/mile pace for YHC, and 2 laps for Big Rig. Cool down for a lap or two. Then one last hot lap. Weighted work followed with Big Rig’s coupons and shiny new kettlebell and YHCs dumbbell. Each of us took turns leading various squats, curls etc. cool down lap, then farmer carry the implements of woe back to the vehicles. prayers for big rigs mom as she has surgery today. Good push today, trying to get better, one day at a time.

5 wet bandits made their way to the stop sign today. Some dawned umbrellas, some embraced the rain in a more natural way. 5:30 off we go

Did the typical route through the hilly part with a brisk pace. We managed to make it past Toby’s house before any HR violations. Topics today were Holly Madison, what age is appropriate for Jurassic Park, the importance of submarine regulations, and TSG found out that Flyboy is the Bubba Gump of Midlothian golf courses.

rain was consistent but couldn’t hold us back!

  • Shoulda Fart Sacked?

1 HIM turned Into Bristlecone Blvd anticipating the view of tail/headlights in the PFP parking lot since YHC rang out a “ruck tomorrow” announcement over the #newkent channel last night. Beaver really did not want any part of getting out of the fart sack this morning, but I can’t post an OTB ruck and not show up for the men. Getting up and to an AO truly is half the battle, so since I’m here why throw in the towel now?
Since I’ve got some extra time this morning let’s give it some extra effort and take her 5 miles for the men who couldn’t be here.

4 brave HIMs came out to play in the rain this morning. Had we known there was vandalism running amuck in Pountrey, we may have hit the streets earlier! According to Rudy’s Ring camera, here’s what took place…

Went down Bellstone Ct to check in on some of our compadres, but lights were off. Loop down to the reservoir and back up past McGruffs to the burnt down gas station and through the rolling hills. Good pace today, rain held off for the most part, and we’re better men for being out there!

Lots of good chatter. Fandango wanted to hijack an amazon car for fun, Toby has many HR violations to log at work today (unless he truly is CIA), Flyboy got realllllly excited when someone mentioned vortex ring state, and YHC asked is anyone was watching Last of Us.

    Good times boys!

  • Big Weds Turnout!!

12 HIMs emerged from the gloom for a glorious OTB beatdown! I’m kidding, just YHC here showed up and boy was it a wet one this morning! Soaked from head to toe as I got in a couple miles of running with the F3 card deck in hand, stopping at every sign or post to draw an exercise. Today I learned there’s a Queen of Burpees and the deck just kept giving me every possible merkin exercise known to the F3 Nation!

  • Answering Existential Questions

Two gents got together at a dark and early hour to get in some speed work at The Graveyard shift, AKA The Swift Freak Show. The questions were asked and may or may not have been answered: What is “race pace”? What is “conversational pace”? What is the best race strategy? What is next after the races are done for YHC and Big Rig? Hopefully we can or have figured out some answers or at least are on the right path. Here was the plan:

    • 1 mile warmup
    • half mile at 7:50 pace, one lap walk/jog x4
    • half mile at 7:30 pace, one lap walk/jog x2

we may or may not have been faster than that. #prematureacceleration always good to run and catch up with Big Rig. SYITG!

  • I’m Locking Up!!!

Just the two of us out there today, putting in work to level up our pull up game. Got some OYO stretching in, then hit it hard.

    • 8 Booyah Merkins at every light post (15 total)?
    • Grabbed Cindy and knocked out 5 rounds: Flutter Kicks, 6-Inch Hold, Foxholes, SSH, and Lunges while the timer did Farmer Carries
    • 10 rounds of 3-6-9 reps, with a bonus run after rounds 5 and 10
    • Finished strong with hangs about a minute each. Grip strength!

Glad to have Friday join me this morning. He’s a solid addition to what we’ve got going on with F3 here in New Kent. Great conversation around GrowRucks, Spartan races, and family.
Trying my hardest to keep up with this dude!!

    Don’t waste the day!!

  • that’s right, you guessed it: Frank Stallone

Two gentlemen got up extra early Thursday to run some hills. We met at Mt Midlo, the best hill this side of Twin Team. One mile warm up, then 8 times at 30 seconds hard effort up, starting from the bottom, follow by 30 seconds walking down, then jog the rest of the way to the start. Then 3 times from the middle to the top, followed by 1 time from top to bottom. TCLAPS to Big Rig, who was really pushing the pace! This was probably the hardest 3.5 mile, 45 minute run the YHC has done. At the end, we made it Over The Top, we didn’t want to end on a Cliffhanger, we also decided to run together, if anyone got too far ahead, the agreement was to yell “Stop! Or my mom will shoot!”

  • (New Kent) Day 1!

3 HIMS got together this morning for the first training session for the Murph. This is how it went down…..

We kicked things off with some chatter and a 10 minute OYO stretch. Started with 50 yard 11s with Burpees and Merkins. Then we hit the bars for 3-6-9s, knocking out 5 rounds. After that we pushed through a few rounds of pull-ups to failure and wrapped up with dead hangs. Most of us are holding close to a minute by this time next week, we’ll be at 90 seconds!

    Don’t waste the day!
