  • Legit OTB

Two of the earliest watchers gathered in the light mist. One hoping for broga, the other planning on intervals. Intervals won the day.

    The Route

    • Down South Ridge to Westham Station
    • Run to Starbucks and turn around
    • On the way back hit a few intervals up Highland
    • Continue up Highland to River
    • BTTVSF where we greeted the birthday boy

    Moleskin

Didn’t take much convincing to have EF Hutton join the run. The only request was no intervals up South Ridge. So we did them up Highland instead.

Great fellowship along the way. Glad to officially write a BB for road hoe since someone joined me.

    Splinter out.

  • One Day They Will Show!!

Still a little sore from the beat down that was given to me Saturday, so I decided to do a ruck this morning. I had a feeling I was gonna be greeted by half of the community of New Kent county this morning. Well I was completely wrong for thinking that. It was a solo mission on a 3 mile ruck and ended with some stretching. Very thankful to have the ability to get up and do this time after time. Don’t take anything for granted!!!!

  • FNG crushes a muscle-up

6 man children got to the jungle gym EARLY for some pull-ups and dips. Almost had to double take when I saw how packed it was! Great way to start out the belated birthday Q. We worked on form muscle-ups/pullups with the bands. Props to Eastbound (FNG) for cranking out a muscle up with bands on his first try! Pays to be 19 yrs old and lean!

    COP 1 – 11’s with pull-ups and dips

    COP 2 – partner burnout pull-ups (assisted)

COP 3 – Partner Dips DORA to 50EA reps

Nice to get back into it after taking a break for a few weeks due to Iron Pax. Love having the large group there getting SWOLL.

  • Just A Warmup

6 HIMs who love chasing the hard, ditched the fart sack and met up at Dogwood Dell for the hardest Warmup in F3RVA.

I once read somewhere, that if you work hard for long enough, what was once your whole workout, will one day be your warmup. Well, I think this one could be a stand alone workout, but not for this group of savages.

Mudslide came in after the standard warmarama with the Side Straddle Hops, Arm Circles, Don Quyotes, and Imperial Walkers we did in the parking lot before moseying over to the Rusty Cage for a workout inspired by the Pull Up and Dip training we’ve been doing at Bermuda on Tuesdays, as well as the Murph workout. Volume of the workout was not quite as much as a Murph. Here’s what we did.

    60 Pull-ups
    120 Dips
    180 Merkins

Like most people do with a Murph, we broke this down into 20 sets of 3, 6, and 9.
After every 5 sets we would run to the light at the top of the hill and back. I would guess it was about 250 meters. Mudslide came in late, and broke the reps down into bigger sets like the beast he is.

Great group of guys this morning. Good mumbled chatter, and love the energy brought in at the start of a long morning.

Pool Boy, Choo Choo, and Beaver went on to the 6am Ruck. Offshore, Mudslide, and myself opted for the Run.  Then the 7am convergence!  What a great day to be in F3RVA!

  • 400m Moseys @ Pine Fork Park

We sent out the F3 signal yesterday across the New Kent FB page for a later 6 to 7 AM bootcamp at Pine Fork Park to spark at least one FNG to manage rising up from the old fartsack. We’re trying every option possible on the social media end with no success, but we haven’t reached our easiest and biggest target yet. We’ll make that a priority in the next couple of weeks. Thus, it was a party of two. Make no mistake, we got after it!

-Mosey to the corner of the football field for Warmarama. Cherry Pickers, DQ’s, Arm Circles, lower back stretch, LBC’s, Merkins.

-Mosey to the batting cages for 11’s. Squat Jumps to the other end of the cage for Monkey Humpers.

-Mosey to the pull up bars. Take turns starting with 1 pull up increasing by 1 every turn until burnout.

-Mosey to benches for dips, timer does 20 skull crushers.

-Mosey to the snack shack. Pick your partners workout(10 seconds without workout does 10 burpee penalty). Timer runs a lap around the building.

-Mosey to the flag to grab some coupons! LBC’s, LBO’s and curls. Timer farmer carries coupons and runs back.

11’s – Bear crawl coupon drag and merkins.

Finish up with 2 minutes of broga.

COT: Numberama, Namarama, announcements, prayer reqs, and prayer.

  • Coupons 4 New Kent

Let’s just get this out of the way, I was 2 mins late to our New Kent AO, so Choo Choo was stretching OHO anticipating any FNG who might emerge from The Gloom at Pine Fork Park.

The colors red, white and blue illuminating over a planted shovel under the parking lights whipped majestically by driving winds. How can one not get that “LFG!” feeling going into an AO seeing such a thing?!

My tardy arrival allowed no such FNG’s (totally planned it that way) to show, so we got down to business with what I call a Half & Half, half ruck, half bootcamp.

    1st Half:
Ruck 1.5 miles with 1 coupon per PAX pair. Hand coupon to fellow PAX every quarter mile marker, carry as you like (over shoulder, out front, rifle carry).

    2nd Half:
Condensed Version of IPC Wk 2.
    -60 Merkins
-Lt. Dans magic legs, 15 yards.
    -14 Cactus Jump Squats.
-Lt. Dans magic legs 15 yards

-20 alternating coupon Merkins/20 incline Merkins.
    -Bricklayers 15 yards.
    -14 Cactus Jump Squats.
    -Bricklayers 15 yards

    -20 Merkins.
    -Murder Bunnies 15 yards.
    -14 Cactus Jump Squats.
    -Reverse Murder Bunnies 15 Yards.
-Run to PickleBall court and back to The Flag.

Hats off to you gents that did the full IPC this AM.

  • Lara Teague Curry 5K

We need one more Off the Books backblast today, so here it is:

An assortment of PAX converged on Trinity UMC this morning in order to remember Lara Teague Curry’s life by supporting the 5K named in her memory. EF Hutton, Seymore and YHC set-up and manned the F3RVA awareness table while Offshore, Chippendale, Bodo’s, Splinter, Bass Pro, Sandy, Vandelay and Joey Chestnut ran the 5K. Thanks to Gomer Pyle for getting us the spot for the table so that we could spread the word on F3 and it’s mission. Several wives took F3RVA business cards home to their husbands.

Another local teacher left us this week, the second one this year. My wife worked with the first one.

Mental illness is real, folks! Please make yourself aware of it. Reach out for help. No one will look at you as a lesser person. People care about you!

  • No skipping Pull Ups

YHC was a PAX of 1 for this week’s pull up training. Got the normal training in with some pull ups, dips, hollow rocks, and chest to bar pull ups. Didnt want to have a whole week with no pull ups!

  • Finally Got it Right

I’ve been trying to get the route on the backroads to West Hundred right for several weeks now, and I finally did it. I was a PAX of 1 for Premature Acceleration this morning. But big things coming next week!

  • Guess who’s doing a pre-run, before the pre-run?

After assuming YHC would be the only PAX running before the beatdown at Twin Team, YHC was surprised to see Big Rigs truck in the parking lot. Apparently, he had already been running. We took off at 5am down Robious and circled back in time for a kettlebell workout with NTB. As always, great convo. YHC asked Big Rig what route he took before I arrived and he stated he ran up Twin Team road because basically, It doesnt make sense to come out to this AO and not hit Twin Team hill. YHC would have to disagree with that statement. Good work today.
