  • Like a Thief in the Night

A mighty team of three set forth on a crusade to ease hunger in the Richmond area. Rucks were readied, equipment checked, and off we departed from Hoedown.

First Stop: Bacon Bits – A neatly assembled bag of canned food with Miller Lite rucking beer to keep the Pax inspired.

Second Stop: Upchuck’s – The man himself came out and opened up his trunk and added substantial weight to our rucks. He then tempted us with a ride to pick up the cans in an expedited manner. We declined. Rucks up and off we went.

Doubling back to Ronnie’s to see if he was home and wanted to partake in an impromptu raid of his pantry. Turns out he was at a party. Brief Pax mumble chatter about relocating a miata.

Down the hill and walked past Marv’s. Outside ceiling fans were on, but seemed quiet inside. TYA must have wired them to the front porch light. We kept rucking.

Stop 3: YHC’s place to unload the food and resupply for the next loop.

Stop 4: Pucker’s place – No cans around front, so around the back we went. Pucker was playing guitar and watching tv. Out he comes with food and eager to hear of our adventures.

Stop 5: First Watch – EF Hutton stashed a source of protein ala peanut butter and tuna. The light’s are bright off hours at First Watch. Sage advice was discussed regarding church parking lots and the need for nocturnal illumination.

Stop 6: Kubota’s – Execute dead reckoning through what could have been a county easement or perhaps a drive way. Either way, we emerged where we needed to be. Kubota’s outpost complete with fire pit, 2.0s and hydration.

Stop 7: YHC’s place to unload and debrief around the fire pit. Pucker joined in and great conversation all around.

The following day, YHC collected food from Splinter, Fireman Ed, Honey Do, and Pigskin. With the RVA contributions, YHC made a donation to the food bank.

Thank you everyone for your support and making someone else’s lives a little better this holiday season!

  • Just the Two of Us

YHC and Mr. Rogers launched at the stroke of 8pm with our packs filled with weight. Bricks, cinderblocks. It all adds up.

The route covered the rolling hills of the Ruckahoe region including the scenic flats of Westham Station. Numerous deer were seen, other wildlife, as well as inquisitive neighbors asking if we were “out for a hike”. 1:45 total time covering 5.83 miles.

Great conversation and getting to know Mr. Rogers.

Interested in joining? Let us know and we will put you on the list.

  • On the Road Again

Two mighty Pax loaded bricks in the sack and headed off into the gloom to discuss the events of the world, and maybe just solve a few. A great time was had with a ruck just shy of two hours.

  • Running from Work

    Running from Work

Four working stiffs left the office early on Thursday to partake in some corporate team building, some 5K running, and beer drinking. YHC and PAX all signed up for the Anthem Corporate Run held in the rolling hills of Innsbrook office park.

YHC’s company team took top honors in their Coed team race brackets for the Engineers and Architects category. BUT if you slice and dice up enough categories, divisions, and sub divisions then every team seems to get a ribbon these days. YHC would like to point out that the CapTech team lead by Splinter beat everyone else with their fancy display showing real-time race results that Splinter personally wrote the code for in C++

Honeydo and Doublemint also had strong showings, nice job gents!

    YHC out!

  • Lets take a walk

Just two guys taking a 5 mile ruck

Problems were solved, trash was talked, mumble was chattered

  • For Those About To Ruck, We Salute You

Three redwoods embarked on a ruck in the evening gloom. Packs were loaded with the appropriate weight, straps pulled tight and off we went.

These three amigos shared stories, jokes, and showed off new scars. According to the owl in the tree, we covered about 4.7 miles in around 90 minutes with some hills thrown in there for good measure.

More rucking will definitely be scheduled in the future.

  • I guess it counts ?‍♂️

When 5 pax show up for a pre-run of an AO, I guess it counts as post.
This morning and hour before GridIron, 5 HIMs showed up to answer the call for a 10 mile prerun.
Don Draper created a 2021 Marathon Slack Channel and for some silly reason added YHC to the channel.. I’m not running a Marathon that’s just crazy!!! I tried it once and broke both feet 4 days before the race… the great Sky Q told me right then and there that YHC is not supposed to run that far and he SMACKED me back down to reality. but i’m happy to have some buddies to run 10 to 14 miles with.

Today BoBerry, Rosetta, Homer, BlueMoon and I set out at 6am to get a few miles at an 8:30 pace… welp… we accomplished setting out on time… but once BlueMoon got warmed up, I warned the pax keeping up with him meant a sub 8min pace… Homer took me up on it and headed out with him where the last 5 miles were sub 7:44. At some point we lost them as they went out on their own route.. (i found them later at the boot camp). Roseatta, BoBerry and YHC stayed to the plan and knocked out 10 miles at an 8:22 pace.

BoBerry PRed his 10 miler!!! looking strong brother.

Next weekend we are going 11 to 12 miles.. hit us up ion Slack if you want to know the launch location.

Thats all for now… i need to go eat something… running makes me hungry..
