Starbucks – Winterfield Crossing

  • Turn up for Tomatoes

Hot and muggy plus some overnight storms that made it somehow more humid, was the overall sentiment of the day.  2 PAX got the full 6ish miles, a LIFO got a few miles of his own and a Starsky with 2.0.  YHC thought he was going to be running alone a few minutes before 6 but saw a car circling what is possibly the most confusing parking lot in RVA.  Though a screen of shrubs Wedding Singer appeared and with a slow mosey out of the parking lot looking for LIFOs we hit the pavement.

A solid 6ish miles for us through the  heavy air of Midlothian.  Good to catch up with Wedding Singer who took advantage of the Off the Books early start time being up early and avoiding the heat as much as possible.  Good call, glad you came.  We caught sight of Honeymoon in the last mile, he showed up late and took his own route through the neighborhoods.   Marmaduke and his 2.0, fresh off vacation, posted at the coffeteria to give M Marmaduke a little morning break.  The coffeteria featured the sign noted in the title, unfortunately YHC is not tech savvy enough to figure out how to post a picture in the BB.  It loses most of its effect without the picture but it’s the title of the BB anyway.   BRR miles and hills are on the mind of the PAX, it’s getting closer and Singer is cranking up the mileage.  Some good training planned for the Honeymoon Q at RiverRun tomorrow, post if you can, you won’t regret it.

Have a great day.  Stay cool

  • First “OTB” run

4 strong for the first OTB WO.

As we set out for an hour run who knew what we would end up with?  Good part was the humidity dropped and we tracked in around 7.1 miles making for a nice start to this Sunday.  Hills are not the main focus on this AO as we all need to prep for the distance and time on our feet for BRR as it coming soon I hear……….

    COT, Name-a-rama, Number-rama

Good stuff and nice work by all that showed up for the official “OTB” Sunday run.  Hint those that showed up……”WILSON” not helping big data by Fart sacking.  Question to the group if you HC and Fartsack does that take data points away?  Jville hope your doing OK as I know you hit a wall this AM after the first mile.

  • Miles in the Dark

3 PAX met in the overcast evening for a few miles and BRR prep.  See the Pre-blast for the routes.  TYA and Lugnut covered 6 miles and YHC took the 9 mile option.  The rain cleared out before the run and made for a nice evening run.  TYA broke out the BRR headlamps for a test run and YHC can attest that these are excellent and should do the job.

Great run men, thanks for indulging and sucking up the torture of a few hills.  If we do this again, hopefully those Batteau boys can make it out.

  • Mary Mumford Running Club

Running club started today at 330 today at Mary Mumford 15 or so kids form K – 6 posted for a running workout. A few parents also joined in.

Bleeder and I led the group of 6 children in 3-6 grade. We were honored to lead Joseph, Patrick, Frank, Ezra, Susan, Bailey (for 1/2 the time) and Sarah (Bailey’s Mom).

    The Thang:

1/2 mile warmup. COP with some stretching, SSH, Merkins, Don Quixote’s, and a modified lung as suggested by Joseph. Run a mile on the track, second COP. Lunges, crab walks, bear crawls. planks. Mosey back to gazebo. Flutter kicks and a classic rendition of superman led by Bleeder

    Moleskin

Awesome to bring out the F3 style workout with elementary school students. They picked up on the counting really quickly. TYA had a few epic fails when it came to calling cadence. Note to self. Dont try a brand new exercise in cadence when you have no idea how fast or slow to run it.

Bleeder and I both passed the background check. Whew!!!! Come on out at Mondays from 330 – 430. Joy to be able to help out with such eager participants.
