  • 3 Steps Forward, 2 Steps Back

3 runners and one late rucker, Yardsale, took off just after 5:30 from Atlee High School. The three runners ran an easy 10 minutes or so to the back of Giles. The runners then ran 3 minutes back to the start at tempo pace (comfortably hard), and then turned away from the start for 2 minutes of easy jogging or walking as needed back. It was 3 steps forward, two steps back all the way to just past the start. The PAX appreciated getting to run up same hill at tempo pace twice. Yardsale then joined for a warm down jog around Atlee High School. The runners were disappointed that Yardsale did not solve all of the problems of the world while rucking because instead he watched animal videos.

It was good to get back out there on a good morning for a run. The workout was generally well received, so it may be inflicted again. We circled up for some good camaraderie, and Mr. Holland took us out.

  • Blood Moon

Pretty cool to have seen the lunar eclipse this morning!

5 guys came and made easy work of a 4.3 mile run.

The loop went Craney Island to Giles, out the side door, cross the main road, through Taylor Farms, into Honey Meadows and around the back of the school.

Thanks for the great conversation and encouragement!

  • Emoji Brings the Crowds

Six runners and two ruckers recovered from their Halloweens the F3 way. The assigned challenge was a controlled out and back, going out for 22 minutes to and along Kings Charter Drive, ensuring that the returning run took less than 22 minutes. Spit, Opus, Mr. Holland, and Corned Beek did it the hard way, stopping for 25 pushups each mile. YHC and Hash covered just over 5 miles. Emoji and No Idea rucked for 4.2 miles in some locations and presumably engaged in intellectual discourse at a level only reachable in the gloom.

The details are light in the above because the COT was so focused on catching up with Emoji that there was no time for discussions of distances or routes. It was nice to meet Emoji and see an unusually strong turnout for the Anvil Run. It’s always nice to push myself to keep up with Hash.

The rescheduled happy hour at PBR has been rescheduled again, I think, for Wednesday (tomorrow), a bit later in the evening. Check messenger for details. Opus took us out.

  • Those Aren’t Halloween Lights

Three runners and one rucker took to the dark streets around Atlee high school. With Christmas still two months away, the runners noted several homes with seasonally premature lights in Giles. A great morning for running and mumblechatter with Opus and Spit. Opus and YHC got in about 4.25 around Giles and Craney Island, and Spit was not too far behind with about 4. Boo Boo reported about 3 miles.

The Mechanicsville nanoregion is planning a happy hour event for Thursday, November 3, at PBR from 6-8. It was pushed back a week for conflicts. As a reminder, election day is just two weeks away. Even if you are not registered you can vote with a provisional ballot with same day registration and let your voice be heard. Whatever your political persuasion, inform yourself from quality sources and do your civic duty. Numbers, names, Spit took us out.

  • We Need More Construction Sites

3 Runners, 2 Ruckers, and one 4-legged friend set out from Atlee HS. Mr. Holland quickly realized he was too old for the moshing he had done and dropped out. Opus and YHC continued on the planned route. Thank you to YHC’s Garmin for avoiding any wrong turns on the farmhouse loop. Opus and YHC covered a bit more than 4 miles. Yardsale, No Idea, and Hershey covered about 4.5. Names, numbers, and Yardsale took us out.

This was a tough running morning. We seem to be down to a skeleton crew these days. It is good to see what has become a core group again today, and maybe some former regulars will be able to rejoin us. I hope Mr. Holland’s rib injury does not keep him on the IR too long. As I plan future routes, I will also try to be mindful of the location of active constructions sites.

  • Choose Your Own Adventure

Six posted for four different run/walk/ruck workouts.

Yardsale and No Idea launched at 5:00 for a ruck. They went 4.5 miles.

Everyone else launched at 5:30. Boo-Boo went for a short ruck followed by some ruck exercises. Mr. Holland, Macho, and YHC launched on a run together. Macho had to leave early so dropped off after a bit. Mr. Holland and YHC got in about 4 miles. Numbers and names. Mr. Holland took us out.

Perfect weather for a run today. It was great to see Macho posting for a run. It’s a tough thing to get into, but I look forward to seeing you out there again. It was also nice to meet Boo-Boo, a former Nantan from Lexington, KY, who recently relocated to the Mechanicsville area. I hope he becomes a regular here as well.

  • 3 for the show

3 denizens of the gloom showed up to put in some miles, rucking and running.

YHC and Yardsale rucked for a little over 4 miles, starting at 5:00, Speakeasy put in 3.5 miles on his run. If you want to know his route, show up next time! 🙂

There was good mumblechatter on the ruck, probably not much on the run….

As usual, I have No Idea what I’m doing.

  • Stick with the Pack

4 runners and 2 ruckers got in their daily dose of run and walk. The runners did a Giles, Craney Island, Atlee loop for 4 miles. Speakeasy ran ahead of the pack and got in 5 miles.

No Idea and Yardsale did their ruck thing.

  • Can you actually hear that?

3 men started their day with an Anvil run. PAX decided to do a run/walk of the King’s Charter farmhouse loop and got 4 miles in.

  • 3 then 2

YHC and his 2.0 rode to Atlee HS to post for the Anvil weekly run. 3 more arrived and we ran 2 separate routes. Hash and Speakeasy did an out and back run route going to King’s Charter neighborhood and back for about 5.2 miles. The remaining 3 PAX first ran around the schools returning to the start then over to Giles to the end of the road closest to 295 and return back to school parking lot for a total of 4 miles.

Numberama, Namerama and Opus took us out in prayer.

Reminder that DaVille Takover is this Thursday September 15, 2022.

Have a great week gents and I will SYITG, Cheers….CB
