  • Farmer Fran Runs on Clouds

An unknown number of participants started at various times and arrived at various times, all of which contributed to today’s RAMM (Gears). After Hitch scurried home to change into a long sleeve shirt, there were 4 of us for the proper 0530 launch time. Routes were declared as follows:

    Routes

    • East on Grove
    • 4s left on Hamilton, 6s left on Boulevard
    • Left on Patterson
    • Right on Commonwealth
    • Right on Monument
    • Left on Hamilton
    • Left on Broad (for 1 block) then continue west on Fitz-Hugh
    • Left on Commonwealth
    • BTTVSF

    • Epic scrimmage between Marv & BTs 2.0 against YHCs 2.0 Sunday. It will be a beautiful day to play 2.

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out, just like the wind pulls us along.

The air made a few of the PAX frisky this AM. One made reference to the rhythm method while another mentioned an injury from parkour (YHC heard hard core, which is a completely different type of activity). One clam was so happy he rubbed his chest (read nipples) to warm up post run, then graced us with a shirt to erase the memory.

Apologies to the 4 milers who apparently can’t follow directions. Glad you were still able to get 4 miles. Yep, that’s how we apologize in this here parts.

A flurry of Gears crew arrived right as YHC was leaving. Ping on slack if I missed you and you want credit.

    Sayonara.

  • Ask Singer What Day It Is

Fifteen pounders and peddlers congregated before and after today’s main event. Singer interrupted the instructions to tell a story about what today means to him before allowing YHC to continue. Instructions were simple, and unless mother nature made you detour, the routes were followed.

    Routes

    • Everyone head south on Commonwealth and into Windsor Farms
    • Berkshire to Sulgrave to Caterbury before exiting to go north on Malvern
    • Right on Grove
    • 4s left on Hamilton
    • 5s left on Tildon
    • 6s left on Boulevard
    • Everyone left on Patterson
    • Left on Bunting
    • Left on Grove

Numbers, names, and YHC took us out

Mary is dark these days. I put the over/under at 311.5 days until the light in the parking lot gets fixed. Regardless, we know each other well enough to identify each other by our shadows.

Route itself was flat today, exactly what YHC needed to feel good about a run. Thanks for the 6s for sticking with me, most of the time.

Apparently post Mary has turned into somewhat of a Broga session. I’m not sure who led the charge, but 6 or 7 finished the run up with some stretching. Conversation was light and jovial until Saab started stretching Swirly out. That thinned the crowd out real quick. PSA: You can likely find some new athletic shorts on back to school sale this weekend.

    Enjoy the day fellas.

  • Predawn business

At least 18 men showed up in the gloom to get some cardio in. One of the gear oriented, Offshore, was back for circle but a few others who started were still out it was surmised. For the 7 launching at 5:30 this was the route:

West on Grove to St Stephens, through the parking lot to Henri, 4’s take right on Ferguson to R on Maple, L on Grove and back, 5’s and 6’s left off Henri on Wesley, R on St Christopher’s, dogleg left across Patterson to Hampstead, follow around to Maple. 5’s R on Maple, L on Grove and back. 6’s L on Maple, R on Monument, R on Patterson, L on Maple, cross Grove, L on Linden, R on Libbie, L on Tuckahoe Ave. Follow Tuckahoe Ave around to Grove. R on Grove and back.

The route was relatively simple for the 4’s and 5’s. The 6’s had a few extra turns to get the distance and in retrospect QIC thinks it was a bit much to quickly explain. Noted for future routes. Reportedly the 6’s improvised on their route a bit which allowed Chippendale to stop off at a construction site and get a little pre-dawn business taken care of.

Announcements – The Crucible is off to a great start, check it out Saturdays at 7:30. Next Saturday is The Bridge in Charlottesville. Labor Day Convergence at DogPile 7am

    Great work men!

  • The Yo Yo

With no Q in sight the pax grabbed the hot potato.

The 4’s ran Upchuck’s YoYo route.
The 5’s ran the YoYo and added some extra.
The 6’s, well they just run all of Richmond.

  • The original out and back at Ramm

14 men of F3 arrived at Ramm. A few were early to get in the extra miles for BRR training. Some in search of Humidity and at least 1 upset that FacePlant and Bodo’s didn’t include him in the plans for matching outfits. Today, the original first route at Ramm. We may need Bleeder, BT, Swirley or Lugnut to confirm. The out and back, which YHC runs the most.

    The out and back:
    Left on Grove
    Left on Three Chopt
Right on St. Andrews Lane to the end of the Cul-de-sac and back to the Flag for 4.
5s: continue back turning around at N. Hamilton and back to the flag.
6s: continue back turning around at Tilden and back to the flag.

1 Ramm Gears today. ByProduct securing the AO and protecting the streets of Richmond. Well done ByProduct.

Great run today fellas. Thanks for taking us out today FacePlant.

    See you in the Gloom.

  • The Humidor

The first day of July welcomed the bliss of summer humidity. Lots of bikers joined the runners today. Lockjaw unveiled a new route for the 6s, but none of them showed. Next time…..

Announcement – July 4 convergence at 0700 at Bateau. Meet at the old stone house.

  • ET phone home

A bunch of bikers and a separate group of runners joined for another rendition of a RAMM/RAMM Gears, Amateur Day. YHC isn’t sure where the runners were seeing as they launched at various times but RAMM Gears did the Reverse Carillion route with a few additional laps around the lakes.

Whitesnake takes the price for most crazy bike/outfit/ensemble. He was dressed as the kid from ET and he had ET riding in the basket on the front of the bike.

Announcements – The Bridge Q tomorrow for TYA. Anyone that wants to Clown Car with him should give him a call. Houseparty has his VQ tomorrow at Rock and Roll at 0700 at Rockwood Park

Prayers – continued recovery for Lab Rat

NMS – YHC had forgotten all the various silly things we’ve done over the years with the longer/warmer days. YHC was glad to bring RAMM Gears, Amateur Day back to Mary again this summer.

  • SOJ Takeover: I am Runner

17 strong posted on another steamy morning to run and cycle some miles.

Route – serpentine. Zig zag back and forth, parallel to Grove, between Hamilton and Shadwell/alley deadend, running on Hanover, Stuart, Kensington and Leonard. 4s turn home on Westmoreland, 5s on Woodlawn, 6s finish at Hamilton back up to Grove and home.

In honor of our brother Lab Rat, who invented this route many years ago. It’s a pleasant, no hill, low traffic route and if you need to cut off early, you’re always near the school. SOJ takeover continues through the weekend. Backblast title was in reference to the classic runner’s outfit – no shirt, just the reflective vest – that boldly states ‘I am runner’, to YHC at least. I love it.

Prayers to the family and friends of Fico’s friend and former colleague Mike who passed yesterday unexpectedly.

  • Aging Gracefully

Beautiful morning for a run through the Fan. Stuart and Floyd were our main arteries. Great mumble chatter in the group.

    YHC took us out.

  • Intermitent Fasting?

No Q on the sheet today. Most runners ran the serpentine route, bikers biked, good cardio was had by all.

    Make a good one guys.
