Mary Munford Elementary

  • Abandoned in Aberdeen

Four RAMM regulars gathered under the tree to admire Hitchhiker’s choice of running shoes. That was until a shirtless man came galloping towards us. Distracted by the streetlights glistening off this bulging man, directions were given:

    The Route

    • Everyone head west on Grove
    • Access road to Iris then down to the golf course
    • 4s Tapoan back to Three Chopt then back to Grove
    • 5s Tapoan back to Three Chopt then cross to St Chris, east on Patterson, back on Westmoreland
    • 6s Ridgeway to Roselawn to Towana to Campus to Pepper to Patterson, back on Westmoreland

Numbers, names, YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

YHC sucks at summer running, but I still enjoy seeing these groups on a regular basis. Thanks for sticking with me as I push through the gloom.

Good mumblechatter with the 6s for a bit, then breathing took over. Hitchhiker planned on going wading in the river today but instead decided to run and didn’t bother changing shoes.

YHC started handing out SQL access to #bigdata this morning. Be on the lookout for your next assignment.

    Announcements

    • Sign up for the pickle ball coup de grace 8/26.
    • Saab is in the market for a german car

    Splinter out.

  • On The Road Again

I can’t wait to be on the road again…..and neither did some of Richmond finest PAX. We headed east on Grove, left on Rosneath, and right on Monument. Right turns were made on the Blvd, Strawberry, and Allen. Everyone took Floyd west to then pick up Grove.

    YHC took us out.

  • Hips Don’t Lie

Some dudes ran from Munford Friday morning. Grove route was chosen since there was no one on the Q sheet and we had some new RAMM folks show up. TYA confirmed the hips don’t lie, Saab abides.

There were others, some gear people, that I didn’t see or tally up. Apologies.

  • For the Records

A group of people ran, rucked, or rode and seemed to have a good time doing it.

  • Homecoming

YHC returned to his old, pre-F3 haunts for a run down memory lane. Somehow the hills in the Hillcrest portion of memory lane had gotten bigger. And I don’t remember memory lane being so rainy. But the nostalgia remained strong.

The route went north to Park, then traveled west until we could take a straight shot down into Hillcrest’s front entrance. After the full Hillcrest loop, runners then selected their route through Windsor Farms based on their personal ambitions for the day. Some (Sippy Cup and Phonics) were more ambitious than others (YHC). After even the most ambitious had returned to the flag, we did numbers and names. Announcements included the Bridge tomorrow, Monday evening pickleball at Batteau, and the July 4th Convergence at Dogwood Dell. YHC took us out.

Thank you all for welcoming me and Phonics to your neck of the woods. While I had met some of you in passing, it was great to get to know you all a bit better. I’ll be back down there soon.

  • Tres Amigos

Despite the low volume there was little Takeover. 3 formidable fiends and one 4 legged friend on crutches knocked out varying ranges of miles and meters.

Brief discussion about those who are abroad and across the pond.

Great to see TYA do laps around Mary despite 2 days after surgery….the man is intrepid…much respect.

Hitchhiker wants YOU to play pickleball…. apparently that’s a thing….

  • Dispelling all Fake News

The gravity of Mary Munford was strong this am, pulling people in at 0530 and once again at 0615. Runners all did the same thing. Riders did something. Here is what the runners did.

    The Route

    5s: https://onthegomap.com/s/e2gvt3lp

Numbers, names, people strolled in, people rolled out. YHC took us out.

    Moleskin

Great to see faces of those that have battled health challenges and to have them back out tackling the day. There was also an instance of someone who miraculously has already recovered from surgery that has not yet happened.

YHC wants to specifically thank Pigskin for navigating me through the fog this morning. There were points where I was running backwards and didn’t even know. Thanks!

    Announcements

    • Batteau will be a summer long pickleball tourney. Bring one, bring all to see what it’s all about.
    • Summer tour in full force

    Have a phenomenal weekend everyone.

  • Better Late Than Never…Part 1 (unexcused)

This run around the neighborhood happened over a month and I just blatantly forgot to put it in. I’m sorry about that and I hope you guys forgive me.

This was the annual “don’t want to pay $40 for the 10K run? We’ve got you.” juaunt down Commonwealth and then east on Monument. Run for 22:30 minutes and then run back to the flag.

I think next year I might plunk down the cash…get in early and then run it. It’s a fun event with lots of people cheering you on. That is taking nothing away from Splinter and Sippy who cheer me on in their own way, but it’s been a few years since I’ve run it, so maybe I’ll start saving for it today.

Again, sorry that I was late posting this. Really late.

  • Grove & sunshine

Great morning for a run. 20 strong out at RAMM:

4 mile – GROVE east to left on Tilden to left on Kensington to Patterson west. Left on Harlan Circle to right on GROVE & back to the flag

5 mile – GROVE east to left on Boulevard. Left on Patterson. Left on Harlan Circle to left on GROVE & back to the flag.

6 mile loop – GROVE east to left on Boulevard. Left on Patterson to right on Antrim. Cross Monument and left on Fitzhugh. Left on Chantilly to Right on Patterson. Left on Harlan Circle to left on GROVE and back to the flag.

Numberama, Namerama, Announcements (Convergence Mon 7a @ Tredegar, Breaking bread openings, Summer tour kickoff) and YHC took us out. Hope everyone enjoys the Memorial Day weekend; until next time, GP

  • Bodos, Fudd & Splinter gone? I guess I’ll wing it

A 14 Biker Runner Combo descended upon Mary Munford to attack the day. YHC was originally planning on tagging along with Bodos, Fudd and Splinter since this was my first post at RAMM, but alas they are out of town and there was no Q. Here’s the boring rectangular route with all left turns YHC came up with :

4’s : From Mary Munford, head down Commonwealth towards Patterson, Left on Patterson, Left on Maple Ave, Left on Grove then BTTF

5’s : After finishing the 4’s route, left on Commonwealth, Left on Patterson, Left on Bunting Ave, Left on Grove then BTTF

6’s : After finishing the 5’s route, left on Commonwealth, Left on Patterson, Left on Bunting Ave, Left on Grove then BTTF (so same route as 5’s but you’re repeating the last leg an additional time)

    Bikers did their THANG

Memorial Day Convergence 5/29 at Tredegar at 7 am. Invite FNG’s. Coffee and Bagels served after the Q

NMMS : Enjoyed my first post at RAMM. Good crowd there. I like to get in at least one run during the week and this week I hadn’t done a run until today. Glad I came out. Here’s a map of the route :
