  • Amateur or Professional?

As YHC pulled up this morning, he saw Saab warming up and wondered who else might show on this chilly morning. Eventually, 7 runners, 3 walkers and 1 rucker showed for this week’s edition of RAMM.

YHC discussed the routes (posted below) and off he went.

Running thru Windsor Farms, the discussion surrounded whether a professional was paid to install the outdoor Christmas lights/decorations. The PAX agreed that it was about half and half. From there, the discussion ranged a variety of topics, plus Phonics demonstrated the correct technique to gracefully stumble crossing a speed bump and keep going for the rest of the run.

  • Cinco de Mary

A formidable five arrived at Friday RAMM to burn off (some of) those holiday carbs….

    Routes are outlined below….

4’s:  Complete Paxton/Ampthill loop and then head back to Mary via Grove…

    5’s add on Hillcrest Loop

6’s extend into Windsor Farms in search of a 90-degree intersection.

NMS: No takers on the 5m route, and two ruckers covered an undisclosed distance. Great 2nd F at Libby Market.

  • Return to Haiku

    Cold, brisk winter temps

    We converge ready to go

    Which route will be called?

    West we went with speed!

    Underground explorer’s tales

    A maze beneath us

    Are those people sounds?

    An unholy convergence

    Decor by Satan

    Awkward pleasantries

    Cult membership was denied

    Back to the sermon

    Pax in disbelief

Was it true or was it false?

  • Misty Run Down Monument

Five runners and one rider converged at the corner of Commonwealth and Grove on a misty morning to start the weekend right. With no one on the Q sheet, we caucused and agreed to head to Monument then go east. We cut over to Grove at various points and headed back to where we started.

With a light mist and cool weather, it was an ideal morning for a run.

  • Worth the Wait

Though coincidental, the route called today is the classic Reverse Carillon. After a little bit of explanation – including the fact that the reverse route is the dominant direction – off we went.

Good conversation along the way as perspectives were shared. The two blocks of sudden November Rain (cue the GNR song) was a nice surprise.

  • Post Halloween Hanover (Street)

An unclaimed Q for RAMM had us all staring at eachother at around 5:27am the morning after Halloween. A week earlier Lockjaw had us run down Hanover, which each year tries to do Halloween in a big way…but they hadn’t quite set it up yet. Halloween, unlike Christmas, isn’t necessarily a season…but a “let’s get some stuff up for tonight”.

Either way, we tried it again on Friday and had a little more success. There’s some theories, preported mainly by me, that it isn’t what it used to be on Hanover street. 15 years ago when I took my 2.0 my mind’s eye is telling me there were a lot more houses doing big, fun things out front…but maybe that’s just time and hyperbole.

Either way, we saw skeletons in a canoe, some goofy/scary clowns and more skeletons. The skeletons in the yard direction phenmomena has been fun to watch…I like it when they give them everyday tasks, like sitting in lawn chairs or mowing the grass. Maybe next year I’ll jump into that troupe.

Either way…good idea Lockjaw, albeit a week early.

  • Shadow Interpretations

11 by foot and 1 by road bike converged this morning. We headed east to then pick up Hanover for the Halloween tour. Some decorations were out, but not as many as prior years, probably due to the time remaining until Halloween.

Moleskin: Its always the simplest things that turn out providing entertainment. That is definitely the case with this group with the parking lot as our canvas! Things can appear skinny, long, or droopy, with the right angle from the light.

Marv took us out and did it well.

  • One for the Records

We ran north, crossed broad and worked our way through a redeveloped area. Heading south on Staples Mill, we then continued further south on Chantilly. Routes diverged at Patterson, based on mileage.

  • Last Second Parking Garage Pivot

14 runners and 4 bikers jauntily converged for a chilly morning of running and cycling. With no Q on the sheet, Splinter confidently directed us to a Groooooove loop, but Marv was enthusiastically motivated by the idea of running to the newish parking garage on Patterson between Libbie and Maple. So a last second change was made just as the clock struck 0530.

4s: West on Grove, right on Libbie, Left on Patterson. Run to and into the parking garage and run upward until you hit 2 miles, turn around and head back.

5s: same as above, all the way up to the top of the garage and back down, then head back to Mary Munford, circle the school to complete the mileage.

6s: same as above, two times up the parking garage and back down.

No persons were jump-scared, although Marv admitted that he screams like a little girl when terrified, so we’ll have to make that happen soon.

    Thanks for a great morning!

  • Out and back

17 runners and riders met in the teacher parking lot at Mary Munford for this week’s edition of RAMM and RAMM Gears. While the riders discussed their route, YHC issued the runners their routes.
