2 elite runners hit the streets of northern Chesterfield County for a few miles. After Lugnut revealed his long weekend of runs we decided on an easier out and back route that neither of us had done before. Out to Independence Golf Club and back for a little over 5 miles. Weather was great and we had a Bullseye sighting on Winterfield hill.

Memorial Day Murph – SOJ
Two SOJ dudes shed the fartsack to pay their respects today. Here’s how it went:
Mosey to the JRHS track – locked!! – audible lap around the JRHS parking lots for Mile 1.
10 sets of 10 x pull ups (OYO), 10 x merkins (4 ct, IC), 15 x squats (4 ct, IC)
Mosey around the JRHS parking lots then up Twin Team for Mile 2 and a set of Mankillers to make sure we left everything out on the field.
BTTF – numbers, names and YHC took us out.
NMMS: YHC is deeply grateful for the privilege to live free thanks to the men and women who have given their lives in service to our country.

Case of the Mondays
Pax of one for River Run. With rain in the forecast for the third straight week it may have been another no-show but YHC decided to make sure that streak ended.
4ish milers – head south on Robious, left at shopping center towards Independence Golf Course. Left and loop around neighborhood. Return by the high school with some added bonus areas.
5 and 6 mile routes – negative captain.

By the Dawn’s Early Light
Party of 1 at River Run. No complaints, easy to accomplish physical distancing
Path – run 4 miles while returning to the place of beginning.

Four Horsemen
Four southside regulars posted for a quick jaunt down Robious.
Negative splits – out 23 minutes and back 22. Running west along the new(ish) walking path on Robious, across the bridge and returning the same way you came.
Great job pax. This particular path is sneaky as it’s downhill out and uphill back. YHC quickly realized upon crossing the first bridge and the end of the walkway that Robious towards 288 is no bueno to run on. Props to OC for making it to 288 and back. Next time some additional steps will be added to keep the Robious portion on the walkway.
Good to have some casual conversation. Stay safe and healthy.

Anything longer than 2 seconds is considered cuddling!
Here is how it went down today. Met at clubhouse 5:30am! Four runners & Annie took off to grab desired mileage. Two took off to complete the Murph. Honeymoon took us out.
New Market has been very diligent in practicing socal distancing during the Corona Virus era. We might even have enough PAX to create a new AO?
YHC has not Q’d in a LONG time and frankly I do miss it, but what I miss even more is the large groups of exceptional men I get to interact with each workout. I even though now that I have been grounded from travel through April, I might get to connect with them (even my NE Patriot friends). NOPE – Social Distancing is now a thing.
While keeping our distance is necessary to getting life back to some normalcy, I do not want us to forget how to Bro Hug! See video for a reminder!
Have a great weekend and it was great to see you men this am!

River Run Mash-up
10 PAX (and 1 4-legged mile-slayer (Annie)) posted to log some miles and kickoff this unusual work week in the most normal way we know how – River Run. YHC was thrilled to see 9 other PAX to share some miles and fellowship with – and I almost lost them during the route instructions.
YHC mashed up a couple traditional routes (the OG Tarrington Route, the Powderham loop and the Brigstock Out and Back) to make a new big loop that touched all 3 areas. Apologies for several turns, gents. It went like this:
- Left out of BWES toward the River then a Right into Tarrington;
- Left at roundabout on Welby and immediate Right on Sherfield;
- RIGHT on Ashwell Drive and head uphill to Robious;
- Left and across Robious to Ellesmere and into Powderham;
- Left at first intersection onto Drakewood;
- Follow Drakewood around the half-moon circle back to Ellesmere (it changes to Bosham and then to Glendower in the process);
- Left on Ellesmere and take it to the end where it Ts into E. Brigstock;
- Right E. Brigstock to Twin Team;
- Left on Twin Team and BTTF – either directly or around the school or wherever the hell Rosie went…
COT (distantly), Number-rama, Name-a-Rama and YHC took us out.
Prayers for Doublemint and his family. His father passed away Saturday while in hospice care.
Prayers also for those we know and love who are dealing with hardships or uncertainty in the face of the Coronavirus. Prayers also for all of our healthcare workers, especially hospital and ER workers who don’t get to work from home.
Let’s help each other get through this. Let’s support our local businesses with carryout orders or gift cards. Let’s support those less fortunate than us in any way we can. And, let’s take this seriously and make smart decisions to help stem the tide.
Have a great day men!

Fartlek Hills
A long weekend away and YHC was ready to get back in the swing of things. Not being able to decide between doing hills or speed work today, I decided we could do both and make everyone happy. The PAX was excited to hear the plan and took off as a group of 10, leaving Hermie on his own to hide in his burrow at the bottom of Twin Team. We stayed as a pack into Tarrington and went up and down some hills with varying effort, lengths of time, pickups, and hills. Note to the PAX don’t let Marmaduke lead the pace on downhill cool down sections. Also, don’t leave your front door open so your dog can see 10 men running by at 0530, the dog might go nuts and wake up the whole house, just an observation.
Prayers for various friends and family of the PAX , including Marmaduke’s mother, that are going through treatments, illnesses and hard times.
YHC, POG and Honeymoon are heading to Smith Mountain Lake for a weekend in April to run the Blue Ridge Half Marathon. If anyone wants to join, let me know. Races with lengths from 1 mile to 2x marathon available on the trip as well.

The Day Our Clothes Are Supposed to Stay Clean
8 SOJers and Annie welcomed YHC and Sally for a run on the trails.
With the Q sheet open last night, and Gumbo’s solo run last week, YHC thought Sally might be the only company this morning. A strong showing by the PAX was a welcome surprise. Tclaps for Marmaduke, Honeymoon, and Annie who also posted to OTB yesterday.
We ran down toward the river and took some loops on the trails. Rosie was a capable tour guide. The entire PAX was in sight throughout most of the run thanks to headlamps and no leaves on the trees.
Nancy Lopez took a spill on a tree root, and his comment inspired the BB title. YHC hopes he is okay.
Check out http://forethecause.org and mark your calendars for May 15th. See Nancy Lopez and Wilson for more details.
