  • Murph Friday

7 brave men barred the cold to take on Murph Friday including 1 FNG!

    Mossy to the main playground.

10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises.

    • 10 pullups
    • 20 Merkins
    • 30 squats

After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot

    COT, Name-a-rama, Number-rama

Awesome to have a new FNG (Bullseye) this AM as we crushed the cold weather Murph and what better way to break him in!  Good work by all as I am seeing several guys getting more and more of the lovely pullups…..keep pushing.  Always a pleasure to lead a fine group of men, thanks!

  • A Solo Six…No Bush

1 lonely sole braved the return of Winter temps and the remnants of the windy weekend and took the opportunity to extend the mileage with no 0615 COT deadline waiting.  YHC headed out and into to Tarrington for the traditional loop but once I reached the entrance to Tarrington at Robious Road, rather than crossing the road and into the bush, YHC turned around and re-traced the route back to the flag for a full 6 miles (with a lap around the BWES parking lot).  Not a bad route and the Ashwell hill coming back up to Sheffield on the return was no joke.

COT was cozy and brief and held in the warmth of YHC’s vehicle.

    See you in the gloom

  • Ticket for 4 on the Rollercoaster

4 River Run regulars purchased tickets for the River Downs Rollercoaster and started the morning by destroying some hills SOJ…after LugNut nicely moved his vehicle to clear space for the concerned bus driver…

Route was around the loop by the high school, right on Robious Road (on the walking path), take a left and cross over onto Riverdowns South, 2nd left onto Queens Grant Drive – up the killer hill – right on Royal Crest and down the hill to Gumbo’s house (or into Cross Creek for an extra mile if you are Rosie and you have a rocket strapped to your feet).  Then the worst part – turn around and return up the shorter, steeper hill and then down the long hill and back around by the high school to the Flag.

5 miles for Flatline and Gumbo; 6 for Rosie and 4+ for LugNut.  Way to work men.  Great run.  There will be more rollercoasters in the River Run rotation coming up.

COT – number-rama, name-a-rama and YHC took us out.

    Announcements:

    • CSAUP – sign up, commit, train… I’m looking at you Wilson

    NMS:

Rosie took off like a bat out of hell and left Flatline to drag YHC’s sorry but up and down the Rollercoaster.  It was great to run with Flatline this morning and great to see him in the gloom this whole week and especially after what I know was a draining day yesterday.  RESPECT!!

LugNut, as usual, did his thing and logged the miles.  Way to work LugNut.

    See you in the gloom.

    No more Gumbo for you!

  • Running in a River of Rain

5 SOJ regulars posted to River Run to log some wet miles this morning.  Distances varied, but hills were climbed, bush was found and penetrated, miles were logged, PAX members were soaked and deposits were made in little green buildings.  Just another great Monday morning at River Run.

Tclaps to Rosie for destroying the Ashcroft mountain with time to cover some extra distance while Honeymoon pulled YHC’s struggling arse up the mountain and we made our way through the bush and down Twin Team.

Great to have LugNut and Wedding Singer out this morning.

Only 7 more Mondays until the CSAUP so come on out to River Run and get some Monday Miles in with us.

COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and Rosie took us out with words of encouragement and prayer for our brotherhood and for all those within F3RVA who are dealing with the difficulties that life throws at us, especially Flatline.

Back at it tomorrow with a Swirly Q at No Toll…giddy up!

    No more Gumbo for you!

  • Start By Going Uphill

3 regular SOJ men posted this morning at River Run, in hopes that it would not rain that bad and it was 63. WHY NOT!! YHC showed up with Gumbo already present but one school bus running and a box truck for clothes running too. Gumbo and YHC hopped out of our SUV and stated “Weird.” DK came in hot with 30 seconds to spare.

0530…time to mosey with DK arranging gear and quickly caught up. Mumblechatter started early and 5 miles was our goal. Across Robious Road, up Twin Team to Ellesmere. R on Ellesmere to Brigstock. L on Brigstock than R on Mt. Hill back to Brigstock. L on Brigstock to Twin Team and down the hill for loop around James River HS. Back to Betty Weaver with bus loop run and done 0615.

Number-ama, Name-r-ama. Announcements. Lots of prayers need this week for PAX members–Fudd, Lockjaw, Circle K and anyone else YHC may have missed. For everyone else, prayers for health and the ability to be present!

NMS-Basically, RVA appears to get smaller for all of us YHC believes. Our F3 relationships DO mean something and it is great when we see each other outside of F3! Gumbo and DK-great to run with you men this morning and way to push for approx. 5 miles. And goggle odometer-WAY OFF!!

    Only those who post understand!!

    Loud and Proud!

    Flatline

  • Deja Vu?…almost…

YHC exited the warmth of his vehicle at 0530 prepared for another solo run through the streets of Tarrington and off he went into the cold and dodging the black ice along the way.  Then, as I returned to do a couple laps around the high school, I saw a headlamp in distance…it was LugNut.  The black ice on 288 caused his late arrival and he smartly headed to the track instead of testing the ice on the streets.

We finished the last 10 minutes together and the company was welcomed.  Thanks LugNut.

COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and YHC took us out.

Looking forward to a larger PAX at NoToll tomorrow…until then, No More Gumbo for you!

  • Tootle, Pip and Cheerio…To DK’s House We Go

3 eager chaps paid no mind to the rain and posted to River Run to start the work week with a leisurely stroll, that went something like this (at least for 2 of us):

Waste no time increasing the heart rate – head straight to and up Twin Team hill, right on Cawood Drive into Powderham, right on Drakewood Rd, left on Glendowner Rd – cross Ellesmere and take a right on  Gryphon Rd.  Around the corner it turns into Stonegate briefly, then right on Radstock – that turns into Kings Lynn Rd.  Cross Salisbury Rd and continue until we see DK’s house.  Tap the mailbox and return as we came.

LugNut did his own things and avoided barking dogs.

COT, Number-rama, Name-a-rama and YHC took us out.

No new announcements – just get on a team and log some miles for the CSAUP.

    NMS:

Great running with Rosie (thanks for waiting for me to summit Twin Team – man that is a killer).  Strong pace after that.  Thanks for pushing me.

Despite our watches saying 2.5 miles and 22:30 minutes right at DK’s mailbox, somehow our return route clocked in just slightly shorter.  No worries, a loop around the BWES parking lot and we nailed 5 miles on the dot.

We could see the LugNut beacon of light in the distance as we returned but we could not overtake him.  Good work Lug.

Have a great day men.  No more Gumbo for you!

  • Murph Friday – January

4 brave men barred the cold to take on Murph Friday!

    Mossy to the main playground.

10 rounds of the below with each round consisting of the following exercises.

    • 10 pullups
    • 20 Merkins
    • 30 squats

After we completed the 10 rounds we headed back to the parking lot

    COT, Name-a-rama, Number-rama

Strong work by all and we killed it in regards to time so we did a couple mins of mary.  Also nice job to Rosie to get 3 miles in before the Murph.  Marmaduke great to see you crushing the 2 mile run portion…..looks like you’re a step closer to BRR.

  • As Regular As They Come

YHC came in hot to find a PAX of 1 awaiting his Q. It was Rosie, SOJ’s own “regular”. Of course there’s nothing regular about Rosie’s running ability.

    THANG
Run normal Tarrington loop back to school + run up to cul-de-sac across from school and back to school.

    Total miles: 4.75 – 5.25

COT: YHC took us out with profound words of wisdom.

    Naked Moleskin
Thanks to Rosie for circling back to keep YHC company. It has been months and months since YHC went for any type of run. Time for that to change: new year, new YHC.

    No announcements

  • MLK Day Run

Three PAX of varying speeds joined up in the gloom at River Run to enjoy the freezing cold weather.

The thang: OG Run – into Tarrington back up to Robious, across road and down Twin Team. Circle back to pick up the six. YHC did 4.5 total, Rosie a little more, Lug a little less.

Good catching up with Rosie, who eventually left YHC in the dust on the long climb to the top. Was a little chilly at the start, 15 degrees or so. Keep up the good work PAX.

CSAUP April 13th. Everyone is a buzzing with this as the word is getting out, should be a great time.
