Old Stony Point ruck

  • Reflections in the Gloom

Five gloom sherpas posted to Ruckhenge for their weekly trek up the Everest of Life. With a massively devilish grin, YHC brought out a few “presents” for our lucky PAX, two 40# bags of rocks (GTE Team Weights) and a 60# sandbag. See what happens when nobody signs up to Q?!? Sharing the coupon love, the PAX took off for a big lap around the area, returned to the flag and dropped coupons to do a speed ruck lap, then returned for a Triple Check: all PAX wearing their rucks, one pair takes the sand bag for a walk while the other two groups are occupied with either coupon press or squats. With 10min left the coupons were again shouldered and the PAX did a final medium-sized lap. Mumble chatter was highlighted by many Growruck memories. Appreciated the brotherhood quality time together fellas – no better way to start the day! And Rodeo Clown joined us for some awesome QSource cofferama conversation. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Stone or Blade?

7 took the DRP and showed up at Ruckhenge for one of the freshest mornings in some time (5 early and 2 a bit later on). It was the trails of Larus this morning, traversed in a non-typical fashion with twists and turns to keep things interesting. Appreciate all the ongoing conversation and discussions of the Q.source. Today’s chapters were the Whetstone and Mammon. Are you sharpening or being sharpened in a vertical relationship, or is it less traditional? Missed a few lads this morning and hope to have their company again soon. Come and join us at the next one!

Announcements – Sober October continues, not too late to join, see slack.

  • Bon Air Bridge Inspectors

Eight beasts with burdens joined up for a 3mile ruck around Bon Air in the latest edition of Ruckhenge! At 0500 we set off across Huguenot and onto McRae Rd. Along the way we discovered a newly constructed bridge and paved trail around Bon Air Elementary, which looped us back to McRae. Rather than repeat that loop we continued on to Casa de Snuff to see if he wanted us to join us for the return leg. No signs of life were observed so we trekked back to Stony Point Shopping Center for a few minutes of Broga and COT. Coffeerama was excellent as well as we discussed Q1.6 and Q1.7 of the QSource!

  • Virtious Wet Ones

6 HIMs who were not water soluble, gathered in the gloom to conquer 3 miles of rucking throughout Larus Park with an extra jaunt out to Stony Point Mall. In spite of the mud and rain, no man was left behind and no man slipped in the mud. We ended on time with some stretching that may have been mistaken for a rain dance, then closed with our COT. The mumble chatter on the trail was a great prologue to our coffeeteria Q-Source discussion. We bantered about the finer points of the Jester and the M. Turns out we all had a lot of first hand experience with both. All came away enlightened and feeling ready to swim into the day.

  • What ticks?

Ticks can’t swim. 12 opted for the red pill this misty morning not quite knowing what was in store—rain or more rain. We traversed 3.2 miles of streets and trails (maybe some grassland) at a fair clip this morning. Good conversations were had about the business of running Kingdoms, including the importance of Getting Right, which all starts with the King and Queen (Q1.2-1.3). YHC really appreciated the opportunity to share in thought and spirit with everyone today. SYITG

  • Greenpeace Tryouts

A dynamic dozen assembled in the Stony Point Shopping Center parking lot for another round of Ruckhenge! Rucks were donned at 0500 and we set off for a lap around the shopping center before returning to the Southbound courtyard for a change of pace to the AO status quo…

Gelati Celesti was closed, so we continued our workout with a quick stretch and then paired up for touch-a-tree!

    • Ruck out-and-back from the courtyard, touching new trees each time, no repeats. Stop for booyah merkins at the pavilion after each round.
    • Descending trees and booyah merkins: 10 to 1

After 55 trees were inspected by each pair we had 10minutes left on the clock. We headed out to the parking lot for a series of OH lunges and farmer’s carries before heading back to the flag.

    Numbers/Names/Announcements/Prayer Requests

    • 10year Convergence in less than two weeks!
    • Prayers for the families of those lost during 9/11 and the families of the soldiers lost in the subsequent GWAT.

Coffeeteria and Q-Source discussion following were excellent!

  • Trail Blazing the Source

A dozen Ruckhenge enthusiasts jumped aboard the Q train for a 3 mile ruck and discussion of all things, with a focus on the 5 Foundations of the Q Source. Sounding like a gaggle of school girls the PAX followed YHC on some new paths to get us up to Stony Point Fashion Park, then the wide loop around Larus Park. Oyster, master of the orgasm lap, played Duck Duck Goose around COT to ensure he achieved the full 3.0 miles. All 12 PAX stuck around for Einstein coffeerama and phenomenal Q Source discussion. For those interested in jumping aboard the Q train, we’ll be doing this every Wed at 5am for quite a while. Next discussion will cover Q1 “Get Right” overview and Q1.1 “DRP” – links below for reading or listening. Yours AYE! ~DTH

  • Leading From Behind

3 Ruckers, including a distinguished guest from F3 Smokies, hit the streets of Bon Air/South Richmond for some early morning fun. I had originally planned to cross Huguenot Road and head towards my house……….but with Rep Sleepy in town, called an audible and made our way to Laurus Park. Sable took the lead as I had no clue where the trails come out – and he is an effective spider web clearer. We ended up doing a mixture of trails and the neighborhoods surrounding the park. At the halfway point, we stopped for some ruck exercises including curls, overhead presses, and squats. Lots of great conversations about our Grow Ruck experiences. It was also interesting hearing about how things are run down in The Smokies. One takeaway is that their logs are apparently bigger than ours.
