  • Run Slow, Turn Left or “Beer Nips”

With different runner in different spaces of training and speed, YHC opted to Q a bro code style run. Goal to be fast or slow depending on your plan for the day. With the speedsters coming back for the 6, on the four mile route laid forth. Down 60, left on mt pisgah, continue onto Westfield, left on Winterfield, continue on to LeGordon, continue onto Charter Colony, left on Woolridge, left to go up mt Midlo and left into the parking lot. (Zoolander would have had a hard time with this route). Doozy sped ahead but kept coming back, Don Draper and Cavity Search followed Draper’s planned 800m reps and kept getting back for the 6 as well. YHC managed to take it easy until deciding to chase Rosie up mt Midlo at the end. Easy is relative given the high humidity.
prayers for Doozy’s M who is on a mission trip and for my HS friend who lost his father and his wife who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
    announcements

-homegrown half is August 16th, route is current under construction, more details forthcoming. There will be a 10k ruck option as well. (Here’s looking at you Try Hard!) potentially a 5k option as well. Come on out and challenge yourself!

-partner ship with the bridge is ongoing. Whitesnake is leading the charge July 19th. See him or slack for meet up details.

    NMS

YHC hasn’t been posting as much lately. Plan to get more regular with it. Great mumble chatter today. Word to the wise. Be wary of nipple chafing on runs if your overseas travel involve a lot European lunch beers.

  • Back to the hill

YHC has a little nasty hill he likes, but I save it for special occasions (i.e. Nightmare Before Christmas) and today was a good day to revisit…not too hot, not too cold. Futon pointed out that the clouds were parted with a little bit of sunshine coming through above the hill, it was destiny today.

Quick mosey through the bunker, up the stairs (watch out for mud) and we did a series of butt kickers > high knees > karaoke rotating at each mailbox. Quick stretch sess and we hit firecracker alley 1>2>3>4>5>4>3>2>1 at mailboxes. oh hey looks, there’s a hill.

    11’s (Chase the Hare Version)
Swoop was randomly selected to be the hare. Rules are simple – once the Hare completes his 11’s, everyone is done. If any PAX member beats him, Swoop pays a penalty. If Swoop beats everyone, the PAX pays a penalty. Lt Dans at the top of the hill, planks at the bottom (21 seconds first round, 22 sec, 23 sec…). Swoop ran valiantly only losing to Wildcat, so the PAX paid the penalty – two burpees each.

Warby wondered where the trail went so we did an Indian run to show him. PAX members were dropping like flies so we turned it into a slow mosey back to the start of firecracker alley. Did butt kickers > high knees > karaoke back to the playground.

Four Corners on The Dukes block. It’s a big block. Someone tried to make a last minute rule that if you cant see the next corner then you can’t do four corners. YHC vetoed, lets go. 10 J’Lo’s, 20 V sit ups, 30 donkey clappers, 40 mountain climbers. BTTF for a ring of fire. PAX clocked 2.6 miles today, not too shabby!

Numbers, names, announcements, prayers. Prayers for Futons family and those impacted by the storms in TX.

  • Swampy

Three decades of HIMs showed up for a swampy beatdown on the track. The thang:
    – 200 warmup of Cadence drills and sprinters
    – 20x100s (run the straight, walk the curves) @ 20-25 seconds each
    – 400 @ race pace (6-7min mile)
Then a slow walk back to the flag

Doozy did a slow 6-8 so we didn’t see him after the warmup.

Finkle came out for the first time in a year, but forgot his F3 name so YHC was able to track it down with much support from fuzzy memory, Big data, & our glorious backblasts. Welcome back Finkle!
