“Hey Marty! You know what we got here?! Motherf–in Charlie Bronson!”

So said Drexl Spivey in “True Romance,” and so said seven stallions on the Source of Truth field in the gloom this morning. Here’s how it went:

COP: SSH x 20, IW x 20, DQ x 10, Freddie Mercuries x 20, Alambam Prom Dates x 20; mosey to the football field for

    The THANG

Charles Bronson – 50 oyo prescribed exercise; sprint 100 yds, bear/army crawl 10 yds, mosey back, rinse and repeat

    1. SSHs
    2. merkins
    3. burpees (for real. this sucked. Ask Wilson)
    4. LBCs
    5. jump squats

    mosey to bleachers for

11s – 10 dips, run to side line, 1 merkin, etc., mosey to field house for

triple check – timer runs up hill and back, PAX 2: peoples chair, PAX 3: WW2s, BTTF

COT: numbers, names, Doozy took us out.

NMMS: 50 burpees in a row is no joke; for YHC, numbers 35-50 resembled some sort of Carolina Dry Dock + Turkish Get Up + Jim Furyk’s golf swing. Tclaps to Wilson for bringing the mumblechatter in both verbal and written form. YHC may start bringing a comment box to his Qs.

  • MegaBeast returns

The Q sheet was open last night and since YHC has struggled to get out of bed early in recent weeks put his name down to ensure accountability. Running has been my theme of the past few months so why not subject the PAX to a couple miles of fun. Bullseye put in some early EC since he had to leave early, tapped out just in time to avoid the last 2 rounds of the beast.

Felt a little rusty on the opening but since we had all regulars we jumped right into it with some SSH and helicopters, that was enough warm up so we went to the track.

MEGA Beast was introduce a couple years ago and rarely comes out, kinda like Sally… Using the full track, 6 reps at the 100, 200 and 300m marks and around to the start before turning around and going back for 6 more at 300, 200, and 100, a full 1/2 mile for each round. Squats, Plank Jacks, Merkins, Monkey Humpers, WWII and Werkins. The PAX crushed it today and we had some extra time for some randorama on the fields. It is no NoToll but that is the best that Midlo Middle field has ever looked and felt.

Great work today gentlemen, almost 4 miles covered. Felt good to get back out and lead, thanks for indulging the run heavy workout. Good pace today set by Rosetta taking the outside lane for a few extra steps around the track. Don’t ask Doozy to do too many tile floors, that’s a little out of his lane for now.

July 4th Convergence – NoToll 6am – DTH and Hardywood are taking control

July 12th – NoToll Puppypile – DTH has the Q

  • F3 working out and saving the county money!!

YHC saw the open Q spot and after No Toll’s Doozy led Burpeefest I thought grab it to ensure no burpees. The clock struck 530 and the Pax was off.

Mosey to the front parking lot for COP. COP consisted of: SSH 20, DQ’s 10, Jazzercise 10, Helicopters 10, Arm circle 15 +Reverso. Merkins 15, Dollies 15, Rosalita’s 15. Mosey around back of school to track.

Each round consisted of 20 squats, 20 Merkins, 20 LBC’s then up stairs across top, down stairs, and back to starting point. We did 5 rounds. Then a triple check with same running route and squats/merkins. BTTF and YHC took us out.

Prayers to Honeymoon’s dad starting his road to good health. Prayers to YHC’s Mom who had skin cancer found and goes Monday for a thorough evaluation.

Convergence July 4th at No Toll. Hardy wood has the Q.

Pee Dee brought up how the trash trucks continue to roll into the schools on regular schedule and the HVAC systems continue to roar and we wondered if the county could be saving some tax money with no one in the schools. PeeDee may write a letter.

  • Final Qs of Hate: Day #2

SOT has risen from the ashes of covid-19 and was, this morning, restored to its former glory with a PAX of 8! Seven PAX who didn’t get their fill of YHC yesterday joined him for day 2 of the final days of hate. Here’s what transpired:

It was a bit gross out there this morning and the PAX stayed dry in their vehicles until a little more before 5:29.

Mosey down to the track parking lot.

COP: SSHs, DQs, Russian Soldiers, Dead Man’s something

Hit the track for the Cooper in honor of Cooper the dog, who wasn’t really that interested in playing along today.

    Run a lap, 10 burpees, 10 squats, 10 merkins

    Run a lap, 9 burpees, 9 squats, 9 merkins

Repeato until 1 burpee, 1 squat, 1 merkin for a total of 2.5 miles, 55 burpees, squats, and merkins.

    Mosey to the bleachers for

    11s: Box jumps and WWIIs

    BTTF for 5 burpees.

Numbers, names, announcements, DTH took us out.

    Announcements:

-July 4th convergence at 6am at No Toll

-3rd F next Tuesday, June 23 on zoom (see Slack for details)

    NMS:

The Cooper was a bit of a time suck but well worth the effort. The role of Fresh Prince was played by Doozy today who glided effortlessly around the track. He was definitely in his element. Up until today, YHC was under the impression that DTH was not a big fan of running….you wouldn’t know it as he also made light work of the 10 laps.

So glad to see bigger numbers back at SOT…Bullseye spent many weeks alone at this AO during quarantine.

For those wanting more, we still have the Forge and Twin Team to go.

Thanks for indulging me fellas! Peace!

  • A Humid and Hot Potato

3 men apparently in search of the suanas that are not part of current phase showed up to the gloom this morning. Unfortunately all they was found was a 70 degree and sunny beat down, hot potato style. According to the rabbits they scared away, here is how it went down:

Bullseye grabbed the tater first and started with a COP:

    • 10 Don Quixote
    • 10 Russian Soldier
    • 3 sets of 10 SSH and 10 Merkin OYO

Mosey to stadium step for 11s:

    • Inch Worm Merkins (or walk out merkins) at the bottom
    • Jump Squats at the top

Then Tobit’s potato time for some ascending 4 corners at the tennis courts:

    • 10 Merkins
    • 10 Merkins, 20 2-count American Hammers
    • 10 Merkins, 20 2-count American Hammers, 30 Jump Squats
    • 10 Merkins, 20 2-count American Hammers, 30 Junp Squats, 40 Alabama Prom Dates

Lastly some Boberry flavored potato. Starting with a mosey down the hill to the concession area for a Triple Check:

    • Partner 1: People’s Chair
    • Partner 2: Incline Merkins on the curb
    • Partner 3: Bernie up the hill and run back down

Little bit of time so we got about halfway through a Jacob’s Ladder, doing burpees at top and bottom of hill.

Numberama, Name-o-rama, Announcements (below), YHC took us out

    NMS

Excellent 2nd F with you gents this morning! Good to catch up and share our experiences with the pandemic. Great morning despite breathing water instead of air.

  • The DOORS, those D$% Doors

3 SOT regulars or what used to be the regulars found themselves together at The Source to see what Doozy had on the books for today

    Mosey to bus loop COP

DQ’s, Dead man Hangs, Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, Imperial Walkers, Russian Soldiers

Mosey to Door #1 Alternating doors – Merkins and Squats 33 doors total with 20 having an A and a B side. The number on the door is the number to do.

PAX liked it so much we cheerfully decided to do it again but with SSH’s and Plank Jacks instead

BTTF – Hold 6″ for a Ab ring of fire

Numbers / Names YHC took us out

    NMS:

YHC has been taking Wednesdays off as a mid week break but I miss this AO because there are so many different things to do. You really don’t need a full cheat sheet to come up with ways to bring the pain to the beat down. I think I will start making SOT a regular stop again.

  • Dialing It In

Five real life warriors posted virtually for a beatdown that went something like:

30-second mosey around the property for COP IC: SSH x20, IW x20, DQ x20, LBC x20, Merkins x10

Lindsays: Merkins and Calf Raises with 10 Bunny Hops in between each exercise.

Four Corners: 10 WWIs, 20 Merkins, 30 Squats, 40 SSHs.

11s: Pickle Pounders, Lunges 10 single count, HRMs, Reverse Lunge

11s: Dips, Bear Crawl, Air DKs, Crawl Bear

    COT

    Announcements:

Happy hour at the same Zoom link (on Slack), today at 6pm. Tron is Monday at 5:30am, same link. Daville is working on a local Memorial Day option.

Prayers for Don Draper’s coworker and family.

    NMS:

Doublemint posted solo to SOT this morning, so dialed in to VR, Dawg to be with the PAX. Brilliant! PAX are welcome to use that option on Mondays and Wednesdays if they find themselves posting solo. The link is on Slack.

Honeydo officially Zoom-proofed his Monday beatdown, so YHC had to look elsewhere for inspiration. The May Daville Merkin Challenge was the inspiration for today’s workout. Merkin count was 195.

Want to join us in the Zoom gloom? Here is a checklist:

    1. Prepare your tech.
      1. Wireless earbuds, wired earbuds with phone in pocket, laptop, and tablet have all been successfully used.
      2. Download and test the Zoom app.
      3. Prepare a ziplock bag for the phone.
      4. Test your sound and Wifi/cellular signal around the outside of your property ahead of time.
    2. Let the dog out so they don’t bark at you as an intruder.
    3. Make peace with the neighbor’s dog.
    4. Mondays, bring a coupon.
    5. Wednesdays, identify a step or bench for dips, derkins, step ups, etc.
    6. Clean up after the dog the night before.
    7. Add your typical drive time to your sleep. But not more. Getting set up can take some time in addition to all the usual morning routines.

  • Where two are gathered…

SOJ AOs have been light lately and YHC does not enjoy a solo workout. A text yesterday evening revealed that at least one other PAX would be at SOT this morning…and two is definitely better than one.

YHC arrived to find Bullseye getting in some extra credit. At 5:30, it’s just the two of us…hot potato it is…and we’re off. Here’s what went down.

    Mosey to front of MMS.

    Bullseye:

COP: Helicopters, Cherry Pickers, DQs, 3 sets of SSHs and Merkins

Find a bench and do 3 sets of dips (15, 20, 25) and wall sits.

    Tobit:

    Mosey to track.

Partner up. Partner 1 performs exercise while partner 2 runs around track to catch partner 1. Switch up.

    Round 1: Bear crawl

    Round 2: Crab walk

    Round 3: Broad jump

    Bullseye:

Mosey to steep(ish) hill at the track for some hill climbs. Run up hill and back and perform 2 merkins at bottom. Repeat (by 2) until reaching 10 merkins at bottom.

    Tobit:

    Mosey to MMS doors for:

    Doors 1-5: Burpees

    Doors 6-10: Jump squats

    Doors 11-15: LBCs

That’s it!…mosey back to the parking lot.

Numbers, names, YHC took us out. No announcements.

A PAX of two can make all the difference. YHC is pretty sure he wouldn’t have done the same workout solo.

YHC prays that God’s peace will envelop us all and help relieve some of the anxiety during this stressful time.

  • COVID 6 & 10

    COVID 6 & 10

Ironically enough six PAX joined up at SOT to get the heart pumping and release some energy.

Mosey to parking lot- SSH, Don Q, Merkins, LBC

Indigenous people run down to football field – remain 6 ft apart during run.

Beast – PAX called exercises – one-legged Bullseye squats, flutters, reverse crunches, jump squats, merkins, burpees

Ring of Fire around soccer goal – hand release merkins and merkins (10), plank. WWII situps, legs 30, 60 and 90 degrees, two rounds (10)

Triple check up paved hill. Run, backwards run, run. Peoples Chair and Freddies.

Moleskin: YHC noticed another Q open and decided to run with it. Obvious theme with the 6 & 10 – social distancing at 6 feet and groups of no more than 10. As suggested we may need to curb or break up our groups if they continuously get over 10. Some food for thought.

On the bright side, 19 year old Riley FNG joined today with Bullseye. Being a pledge, the PAX ran with names from Old School and Animal House, settling on Flounder as the pledge/legacy from a classic which he very may not have seen yet. Welcome Flounder.
