  • Cool Mountain Air

The warm mid June heat wave took a bit of a breather on this comfortably cool Tuesday morning as 10 guys met down at the bottom of UofR for a jaunt/ride around the near west end of RVA.

There’s no doubt, the heat of the summer is going to come roaring back with those 74 degree mornings and 80% humidity, but today we were treated with 60 degree temps and a nice breeze.

Nothing super complicated about this mornings trundle…we all tackled Mt. Henrico.

    No 6s

Handful of 5s headed to the top of the hill and then back down the way we came.

The 4s were out 22:30 and back.

Maybe mention of Bodos hitting the traffic circle, which continues up University Blvd (which is not to be confused for University Dr.).

Good to see everyone out there ITG.

  • Waiting for the ball to drop…

Those who were there learned we were following last week’s route, but reverso…

  • Celebrating Seabiscuit

Ten dependable runners + one two wheeler that needed to zip up his biking shirt gathered in the waning darkness for today’s new? Spider Run route. It appears as if a good time was had by all.

    The Route

    https://onthegomap.com/s/qhrhj6lb

    4s: Only do Essex

    5s: Essex, Dinwiddie, Old Nelson

6s: Nalla + the traffic circle / Glendale

All routes were a little heavy, when accompanied by heavy legs made for a tough route.

After some initial discussion in our favorite parking lot, YHC offered instructions that were plentiful in nature. Only a few questions arose. Alas, some didn’t wait for instructions to finish and of he went.

Apparently each of us isn’t as young as we once were. Certainly not in comparison to 3 year old stallions from a century ago. Ever the linguist, Marv made a comparison of his calfs to those of Seabiscuit. YHC guesses Seabiscuit was better off.

From Seabiscuits to mahogony garage doors to a quick game show of: What is it? Sauna or Port-o-jon, discussion was lively this morning. Let’s reach out to some of the old Spider Run regulars and get them back out again.

  • Grove? Not today…

8 strong emerged from the misty gloom for the latest edition of Spider Run. It was a relatively light crowd – We had 4 runners, 3 walkers and a biker. The age old Grove Ave run was offered but denied. The runners headed across the bridge and down to the river completing various mileage.

Numberama, namerama and YHC took us out.

Convergence on Memorial Day at 7am. Also Flatline Qing Dogpile this Saturday ahead of his upcoming deployment.

Hitch and his PortaDash app continue to amaze us and even Hitch as its reach grows. The ADA has reached out to him and we wish him good luck in his meeting later this week with a Retail Coalition.

We keep Bleeder’s and Bodos’s families in our prayers and any Pax or family in need of support.

  • Smells Like Summer’s Eve…

A total of 9 gents arrived at UR to run, walk, and bike.  Routes had been posted and questions were sparse.

Subsequent discussions centered around the versatility of feminine products when you are in a pinch.

It’s been a few weeks since YHC made an appearance at Spider Run. After reviewing routes from previous weeks, YHC came up with something we hadn’t seen in a while. Slack disagreement was overblown, everyone enjoyed it.

YHC especially enjoyed seeing the fine mist in the air that was reflected by the headlamp. Quickly realizing it wasn’t mist, but pollen, coughing ensued for the remainder of the run.

    Embrace the day fellas.
