  • Back up the Mountain

Fourteen trekkers who didn’t get their fill from 2 weeks ago, returned to base camp for another summit attempt. The Q left early but passed along ample instructions. Mt Henrico it is again.

    The Route

    • Mount Henrico

Numbers, names, the Q took us out.

    Moleskin

This route does two things. 1. It never gets old. 2. It never gets easier.

Almost everyone made it to the top. There was still 1 that got lost but made it back to base camp successfully.

  • Running for a Friend

    Running for a Friend

Fourteen of the best gentlemen you could find, gathered to listen to today’s instructions. Two started early but were instructed to come back for further instructions. Routes were:

    The Route

    • 6s – Left out of parking lot, slight left along the lake, up by the baseball field and weinstein center, continue up Richmond Way, left on Gateway, left on Campus

Much to everyone’s likely disbelief, YHC hadn’t planned on intervals today until yesterday. Sometimes you need to push yourself harder than you normally would in order to clear your mind and soul of life’s complications. Today was one of those days for YHC.

Thank you all for enduring the repeats up those hills with me. Every step of mine was in memory of Bella.

  • Today, Gate = Entrance

13 strong arrived to run but engaged first in a lively debate over where the gate I mentioned might be. Whether they ran through the gate (or entrance) they all should have taken this route…

Run out the back the back gate (entrance) to UR onto River Road, cut through the River Road Shopping Center then over the Huguenot bridge and drop down onto Riverside Drive heading down River.
4s turned back at Oxford Parkway, 5s turned back at Rock Falls, and 6s took a right onto Rock Falls then up to Granite Hall Avenue and turn around.

Despite the initial confusion eventually the group figured it was just an out and back run. The moon lit the way nicely and provided a nice view of the River.

Numberama, Namerama, and YHC took us out. Prayers for the Freeman and St Chris families impacted by the car crash that took three young lives late last week up at JMU.

Note for next week’s spider run – TYA is Q and plans for the Mount Henrico route. He will post routes in a pre-blast and will be launching early to do the full route.

  • Not Grove

11 Studs posted on a Sunny and 70 Tuesday morning at University of Richmond. The route was Mount Henrico. Weather was perfect, 2nd F was spectacular. Lots of prayers for PAX and loved ones. Take inventory of your blessings and spread them as far and wide as you can.

    TYA OUT

  • Front ways and backing in

According to the owl who dispatched Saab (who was not seen except by one witness) and watched the Pax back in some parking spaces and front ways for others, here is what happened.

Over to the bat cave and up Ridgeway, Fairway, Iris to the churches. Pick up Grove and take a left on Granite. 4s and 6s head west on Patterson, while 5s make a detour north of Patterson and over to Libbie to pick up Patterson.

Everyone heads west on Patterson with 4s/5s turning on Honaker and dropping down Boatwright to then come in the main entrance. 6s head to Westham Pkwy to Lakewood and then come around the baseball field to the VSF.

    Marv took us out.

  • Rain Dance Past the Haunted House

13 Warriors emerged from the gloom despite impending precipitation. To delay the start of the precipitation we performed a series of rain dances. They went something like this…

6 milers: Up Gateway Drive and left onto Campus Drive then left onto Boatwright/College Rd. Down past the UR football Stadium then right up University all the way to where it ends at Ziontown. Cut through the yard of the “Haunted House” (Bodos assessment) and take a right onto Roslyn Hills, left on September, continue on Countryside. Left onto Higginbotham, Left onto Charnwood, quick right onto Melwood and a quick left onto Rosylin Hills and back to the cut through and back the way you came.

5 milers: Up Gateway Drive and left down past UR Stadium on Richmond Way, right at the lake and across the bridge then up the path to University. Up University until it ends at Ziontown. Cut through the yard of the “Haunted House” and take a right onto Roslyn Hills, left September, left onto Melwood, Left onto Roslyn HIlls and back through the cut through. Back down University, take a left on College and go up by the baseball field then return by the lake to the flag.

4 milers: Run along the lake and across the bridge then up the path to University. Up University until it ends at Ziontown. Cut through the yard of the “Haunted House” and take a right onto Roslyn Hills, left September, left onto Melwood, Left onto Roslyn HIlls and back through the cut through. Back down University, back the way you came and back to the flag.

    Numberama, Namerama.

Announcements – Hitchhiker is enticing the Pax to join him at WDog tomorrow morning by offering coffee. Saturday is the Frozen Triangle.

Prayer request for Corned Beef’s mom who suffered a stroke.

NMS – the Pax all discussed their weather apps assessment of today’s weather as they prepared for Spider Run and noted it was supposed to be raining already when we got there. Thankfully it was not. Our rain dances held off the rain until Bone Thugs (aka “American Taliban” as dubbed by his M due to his extensive facial hair) emerged from the mist and returned to the flag. Some good hills in these routes. Have a good day boys!

  • What the Fox?

An elite 8 ventured out under the halo of a ringed moon. The air was cool and crisp. Mumble chatter aplenty, inversely proportional to the hills which were also many. We saw the spectacular decorations and lights across the street from Ronnie’s, some ventured north of Patterson, and others hit Starbucks.

The title comes from a giant fox, or miniature coyote, that emerged while YHC and Bleeder were catching up post run. The fox quickly spotted us and retreated back to the shadows.

    Bleeder took us out.

Anthrax needs to do a better job training his dog where to go to the restroom.

Thanks for showing up and getting the day started strong.
