    Such a beautiful evening for a workout. WELCOME JOHNNY 5 our FNG. He plays indoor soccer with some of the PAX. He is a software developer (thus the name. Short Circuit was also thrown around). He got there just in time to save the day and make even numbers for the Dora.

  • Converting the Reacher

    The Crossing welcomed a 6-pack of hungry HIM’s, including one FNG State Trooper, who is also a recent new member of the DTH spiritual family. Here’s how we showed Reacher the F3 beatdown ropes:

    NMS:  Solid PAX for The Crossing to kickoff the back to school season. Many invites sent, just the right HIMs answered. Big welcome to Steve Martin, now “REACHER” who is a State Trooper, former Army, and recently accepted salvation in our church. He’s been the F2L definition of “The Reacher” for many years, and is now super pumped to step into community. Also welcome back to Figo, who just “loved” being back at the DTH grind… Let’s see if he’s got what it takes to keep posting! Sincere thanks to the consistency and camaraderie of Chaplain, Broadway, and Ghostbuster holding the Crossing together even when numbers have been few.     At 6pm, YHC and Ghostbuster cranked the asphalt up to high and got to work………….the following is brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

    Mosey to the back of the Church for Warmarama: Jazzercise Punches, Ukranian Soldiers, Copperhead Squats, Crab Cakes, Freddy Mercuries, Oblique LBC’s, Mario Jumps, Mummy Kicks, Karoake, High Knees, Butt Kicks, Bernie Sanders.

    Exercise One: Dora with 100 dips, 200 LBC’s, 300 SSH’s. Runner goes to the end of the parking lot and back.

    Mosey to the Wall for Exercise Two: Dora with 50 Donkey Kicks, 100 Wall World 2 Sit-ups, 200 Hoe downs. Runner goes to the storage container and back

    Exercise Three: Ascending Ab Ladder with Heels to Heaven, Flutter Kicks, and Alabama Prom dates. finished back at the flag.

    Final Thoughts: Had a great time working out with Ghostbuster on a hot and humid evening – dude is a beast. For those that missed it – Ghostbuster had a well-organized and challenging VQ last week. At some point, you may even read a backblast about it.

    Six men did a lot of stuff, some of it was on the hot pavement, some against a hot brick wall, and due to the traumatic affects it left on my mind some I can’t remember.

    4 Crossing regulars enjoyed some moderate weather and, of course, a meticulously planned workout…………The following is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure:

    Run a couple laps around the parking lot, then: Jazzercise, Bruce Lee Punches, Overhead Claps, Mountain Climbers, Double Tap HR Merkins, Freddy Mercuries, Oblique LBC’s, Flutter Kicks, Knee Pulls, Open the Gate, Karaoke, Lunge Walks.

    Final Thoughts: Initial plan was to partner carry House Party, but we audibled to Birdman – gotta work our way up. Lots of lingering trauma related symptoms from Grow Ruck: but overall a success. Had a great time hanging with the Crossing Crew! Nice work

    Three amigos for the only 92 degree AO in RVA. Warmed up and moseyed to the large lot for the ol’ Seven of Diamonds – focus on the core:

  • A little rain wouldn’t be so bad after all.

    6 HIM came out and braved the heat, the humidity, and a potential thunderstorm for a House Party Q. Here’s what went down.

    Mosey to the far end of the parking lot for Warmarama which included SSH’s, Helicopters, Arm circles, Dead man hang, Tempo merkins, and WWII’s.

    The Thang:

    With little to no running on the menu, YHC decided plenty of reps was the way to go. Each Pax did a Dora split into 4 rounds of each exercise, with the Pax taking a short run around the parking lot after each round. The goal was a total of 1,100 reps which included:

    20 burpees

    40 Carolina Dry Docks

    60 Scruchy Frogs

    80 Merkins

    100 LBC’s

    120 Monkey Humpers

    140 Flutter Kicks

    160 Oblique LBC’s

    180 APD’s

    200 Mt. Climbers

    The Pax was able to make it all the way through 3 rounds of oblique LBC’s before we mosey’d back to the flag to finish off with 5 burpees OYO.

    Great work by all the Pax this evening. Welcome Old Bay who is the roommate of Magnum P.I. He’s a big Baltimore Orioles fan thus the name Old Bay. He had a great attitude and really hung in there. Although we didn’t get any rain during the working, with all the heat, humidity, and reps, the Pax would have welcomed at least a little.

  • Who The F Is Bobby Hurley??

    It was the team up that everyone needed………..Birdman and Chaplain uniting for an epic Q at the Crossing. Here is a brief summary for your viewing pleasure.

    Mosey laps around the parking lot, then YHC leads warmup consisting of various exercise, all in perfect cadence.

    to the field for Exercise One (Birdman)
    Partner Up: Runner runs length of field while partner does exercises: WWII Situps, Bobby Hurleys, Merkins. Rotate after each run.

    Exercise Two: E.A.G.L.E.S. (Chaplain) Similar to Blimps, but a different acronynm: Elevators, American Hammers, Grow Ruck Situps, Lunges, E2K’s, Side Straddle Hops. Run the length of the field between each exercise.

    Mosey to the Wall for Exercise Three (Birdman)
    Wall exercises followed by a sprint, then jog back.
    Donkey Kicks, Dirty Hook-ups, 2 minute peoples Chair. Ouch

    Back to the flag for Exercise Four: Catch Me if You Crab Relay. Everyone crabwalks, one person runs the parking lot, then takes over crabwalks. Rinse and repeat.

    Knocked out a couple arm circles, Moroccan Night Clubs, and Raise the Roofs until time was called.

    Final Thoughts: Enjoyed teaming up with Birdman and paying homage with the Eagles themed exercise. I guess it is not surprising that the younger PAX had never heard of the diminutive Duke villain. Magnum P.I. continues to kill it!

  • the floor is LAVA

    The Crossing Crew was expecting molten temperatures, but 97 and breezy wasn’t all that bad in the shade… until you stepped onto 120 degree pavement in the sun. The Q thought very briefly about taking the PAX inside the church, but the Core Principles were instead honored in gloriously sweaty fashion – in the following manner:

    COP #1: 

    • Mosey down to the Portico (shaded)
    • Partner up for B.O.M.B.S. – Similar to Dora 1-2-3 but more exercises, B.O.M.B.S. consisted of Burpees (25x), Overhead Press holding Low Squat (50x), Merkins (75x), Big Boy Sit-ups (100x), and Squats (125x). Partner 1 does reps while Partner 2 bear crawls 20 yards, and lunges back to switch. 
    • Mosey BTTF for a 3min water break

    COP #2:

    • Mosey down to the church
    • BLAZING HOT POLE SMOKERS (zero shade)
    • x30 reps OYO holding onto a parking space pole, legs straight, getting the hips off the ground to kick the sign

    COP #3:

    • Mosey around to the shaded side of the church, and circle up on a nice soft patch of grass
    • MARY – variable, more than 6 minutes, all reps in cadence, to include:
    • Crunchy Frogs
    • Low Flutters
    • WWII’s
    • LBC’s
    • Oblique LBC’s (each side)
    • High Flutters
    • Groiners
