  • Thursday Morning Lights!

11 grown-boys made their way to Timberwolf this morning. 8 of the PAX members played some off-season Ultimate while the other 3 PAX members opted for a standard beatdown to save those knees! YHC can speak to Ultimate. Here’s what went down…

WARMARAMA – Moseyed down to the football field to find an illuminated arena thanks to painter lights, extension cords and a 4:30am alarm clock for YHC. Let’s gooooo!!! Grabbed some grass and stretched out. SSH’s, DMH, Leg Stretches, Arm Circles, Shoulder Stretches, LBC’s, Merkins, Wilson’s Wife and Fudd’s Wife.

The THANG – Split into (2) teams of (4) and passed out the pinnies. Team “No Pinnies” put it on Team “Pinnies” and it got ugly. After gaining a 7-1 lead, Knock Knock and Cookie swapped teams. A little offense for defense trade! This transaction proved to level the playing field but Team “No Pinnies” still prevailed ~ 7-6.

Team “Pinnies” – Warby, Fandango, Tzatziki, Cookie

Team “No Pinnies” – Rudy, Knock Knock, Crabgrass, McGruff

    BREAKDOWN

McGruff – George Pickens: “Open F’n Always” hahah

Cookie – Patrick Surtain II: Lockdown Defender. Go Broncos!

Crabgrass – Brock Bowers: Owns the middle of the field. Chiefs suck!

Tzatziki – Mike Evans: Consistent as they come.

Knock Knock – Malik Nabers: Youthful and skilled!

Rudy – Amon-Ra St. Brown: Scrappy and productive.

Fandango – DK Metcalf: Vocal leader with excellent instincts.

Warby – Deebo Samuel: Always in the action!

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • Saturday, November 2nd – Daddy Daughter Dance from 7-9. Check Slack for invite. Hit up Meatball, Big Rig, Pool Boy or Rudy.

    PRAYERS/WINS

    • PRAYER – Safety in schools
    • PRAYER – Safety for those in FL

Had a BLAST playing some Ultimate in the dark and am looking forward to the next chapter of Thursday Night Lights!

  • Cornhole: Breakfast of Champions

11 HIMs kicked off Rosh Hashanah with a bang. YHC looked at his watch and saw it was 5:29:55 which meant two things – Tzatziki was pulling in the parking lot, and it was time to mosey. Indigenous run with 5 squats, did one lap around the track. Hermey thought it was Wednesday and he had mistakenly showed up to Miles of Truth. YHC put him at ease and let him know it would all be over soon. Headed to the other side of the school in the bus loop and arrived at the main event. Quick warm up to get the shoulders going.

    The main event – Cornhole!

First half was the Individual Event of 1-v-1 cornhole, the second half was a Team Event of 6-v-5. A lucky PAX member would roll a dice twice, first roll decides the workout, second roll decides the scoring. PAX went with the Luck-of-the-Irish and had Rudy roll. Here were the options:

    Workouts
    1) Winners run to bball court and back, losers run around the school
    2) Winners 25 merkins, losers 25 merkins with a band
    3) Winners 20 squats, losers 20 squat thrusters
    4) Winners 100 single count toe taps, losers 100 double count toe taps
    5) Winners 10 8-count Shazams, losers 20 8-count Shazams
    6) Winners run to bball court and back, losers run around the school

    Scoring Methods
    1) one bag toss only, closest to hole wins
    2) three bag tosses, most points wins
    3) three bag tosses, most in the hole wins
    4) two bag tosses, most points wins
    5) Long distance. Take 5 steps back, most points wins
    6) three tosses bag furthest away from hole but on the board wins

We squeezed in several individual events and two rounds of team events. Swoop’s Eagles-branded cornhole boards were often blamed for poor performance, but YHC witnessed a lot of tosses that looked like a Hurts pass over the middle…

Punishments were evenly distributed, the PAX was glad to not have any rain today, and fun was had by all.

Announcements – VQ Week, Daddy-Daughter Dance, Father-Son Camping, The Bridge – check Slack for details

Prayer requests – Boberry’s brother and everyone else impacted by the hurricane, State Farm and his wife as they get ready to move to Pennsylvania, the students, parents, and faculty of Tomahawk Creek Middle School.

Next week at Timberwolf is Rudy’s rendition of Thursday Morning Lights, see you all there!

  • David Bowie’s Codpiece

As it was a 5 year celebration, the PAX was looking for brewskis or bourbons. Unfortunately all that was in store was a beatdown and some “5” themed tunes. 5:30 hit and we were off. According to the trash truck driver making us run fast, this may have happened…..

Indigenous ppl run with 5 squats around to the basketball courts

Fav warm ups including Jazzercise, deadman hand, Andy Dufrains, scorpion kicks, invisible jump rope, collard pickers, hairy Rockettes, flutters, Freddie mercury’s, and merkins

    Captain Thor 1 ww2 4 American hammers, 2-8, 3-12, 4-16, 5-20 then back down the ladder

Donkey kicks and peoples chair , then some we’re not worthy’s

Merkin jacks, same thing with 1 merkin and 4 plank jacks

1 Boberry biscuit, slow on the turns, sprint on the straights.

Lady of the night style 4 corners w merkins, jump squats, flutters, and LBCs

Indigenous pppl run back the way we came to finish with a ring of fire and a little broga.

Numbers names announcements YHC took us out.

Reminder for the next anniversary is Try Hard at Rock and Roll this Saturday. Rumor has it the logs may appear at Morning Wood.

    NMM

Great mumble chatter today. Lots of great choices for backblast titles. But when one of the options is David Bowie, there really is no other choice… Thank you to the guys who posted today and all the pax I’ve gotten to know over the last five years. This group truly is more than just a workout. The relationships built are what it’s all about. YHC has been through a lot in the last five years. This group has really kept YHC staying positive, and trying to get better everyday. We push each other and are there for each other. Thanks yall.

  • Human Centipedes and Peanut Butter

11 centipedes crawled into the gloom for a State Farm beat down. YHC wanted to bring a tasting menu that included selections from each of the last few weeks of Iron Pax. I always love making the trek up to Twolf to mess around with with a solid group of PAX. Motivated by Peanut Butter, everyone pushed hard while having some fun. Props to crabgrass for throwing down hard during the Cindy workout. Thanks to Heist for bringing the additional Cindy. Good luck to Rudy and team getting their first taste of iron pax with @boberry at Satan’s Hill tomorrow! Pleasure to lead. SYITG!

  • 2nd Annual Timberwolf Hollow Open

If I mess up, we all mess up. Luckily for the 8 HIMs who came out in the gloom – with McRib literally emerging from the gloom, YHC doesn’t make mistakes!

Borrowing a Q idea from Doozy, we had the 2nd Annual Disc Open at Timberwolf Hollow!

Mosey around the bus loop and settled in at the corner of the lot where we could get up close and personal with each other for some solid stretching. Traditions were thrown to the side and no SSHs were done, instead a curtailed list of high-intensity stretches were performed to get us ready for the event. Middle School arm stretches, overhead stretches, jazzercise, helicopters, ukrainian soldiers, merkins, roscoe’s mom.

    The Main Event

Rules are simple. At the beginning of each hole, we rotate which HIM calls out an exercise x10 and picks an object to be “the hole”.

    1. Perform exercise x10
    2. Throw first shot, run to disc, do 1 merkin
    3. Throw second shot, run to disc, do 2 merkins, etc
    4. Once hole is hit, do a burpee for each stroke
    5. BONUS – if you catch a HIMs disc, they do 10 burpees, if you attempt and fail, you do 10 burpees

All in all we played 12 competitive holes, some in well lit areas, some not so well lit! YHC’s scorecard showed 120 random exercises, 122 merkins, 56 burpees, and 1.35 miles – not bad for a Thursday morning! The PAX learned a few things along the way:

    1. If frisbee golf was a profitable sport, Rudy Scheffler would be raking in the dough! He was playing by himself most holes while the rest of us were getting honked at by Karen.
    2. Don’t get in Karen’s way. She wants to get to school first to get the best parking spot, a group of grown men playing games will not get in her way.
    3. Bring a flashlight.
    4. Skip shots are the way to go if you can’t Bend-It-Like-Rudy

Great time was had by all, no one got taken out by a flying disc, and we recovered the two lost along the way. Thanks for the fun today everyone, low-key really good workout.

Announcement – 10 year events next weekend / Heist leading the Bridge / New AO’s, check them out / VQ week in November

Prayer Requests – Pray for the Babin’s as they travel across country this weekend. Prayers for the Demay’s and their son. Prayers for the Yoakam’s, a friend of YHC who passed away this week after a 3 year battle with a very rare Colon Cancer.

  • The Sport of Kings!

9 grown-boys kicked the NFL season off by playing a little football of their own!

WARMARAMA – Moseyed over to the parking lot for a quick stretch. SSH’s, DMH, CP’s, AC’s, Shoulder stretches, LBC’s, Rosco’s Mom, Merkins, Wilson’s Wife and Fudd’s Wife.

COP 1: Strolled over to the bus loop to run/bernie/carioca up and down a few bus lines. Stopped half way through and broke into (2) teams. Team #1 and Team #2 were each assigned a bus lane to throw the footballs around.

    • OBJECTIVE: Spread ~25 yards apart and throw the ball to a teammate. If caught, team completed (1) Burpee and took (1) step back. If dropped, that butter-fingered PAX member stepped to the side and planked for the 6.
    • RESULT: Team #1 followed directions and took (1) step back after each completion. Team #2 claimed to have done the same but somehow only extended the distance between them by ~5 yards at the end. The call on the field was a Team #2 win. After further review, there is no conclusive evidence to overturn the call so the ruling on the field stands. WINNER: Team #2

COP 2: Moseyed to the tennis courts for some agility drills and a modified “Oklahoma” drill.

    • AGILITY – Each team took to one side of a tennis court and faced each other. One PAX member from each team stepped up and stood at the middle of the court and waited for the call. On go, the runners touched a total of (4) lines on the court and sprinted to the finish. YHC was the only one left standing from Team #1 after Round 1 so the battle was declared a TKO. WINNER: Team #2
    • OKLAHOMA – YHC’s favorite football drill of all time! YHC stood at one end of the tennis court with both arms out. On the other end of the court, each team sent a representative to the line to lay on the ground and face up. On go, the PAX members rolled over/stood up/sprinted to YHC to slap the hand first. This is where Team #1 shined! WINNER: Team #1

COP 3: The original plan was to play on the football field but it was way too dark so the PAX called a quick audible and moseyed back over to the bus loop for some football! Fandango won the tryout for all-time QB and did not disappoint!

    • Each team started from a light pole and was given (4) plays to make it to the next light pole for a first down. Once the team crossed that light pole, they had (4) plays to score.
    • OBSERVATION: Slow starts by both offenses, Crabgrass can run the seam route like a BOSS, Team #1 implemented the zone-defense to perfection, it’s hard to locate the football in a dimly-lit parking lot, Fandango has a CANNON.
    • Due to time, the game resulted in a TIE so the WINNER of today was Team #2.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    • 9/20-9/21 – F3 Convergence at Dogpile! Let’s hit 100 PAX members!

    PRAYERS/WINS

    • PRAYER – For the city of Winder, GA. Prayers for strength to battle the fear/anxiety.

As always, I had a blast leading this morning! Big game tonight, Fandango and McGruff!

  • Cookie, don’t scare the lady!

6 grown-boys started their day at Timberwolf this morning and got after it!

WARMARAMA – Moseyed to the main parking lot for some much-needed stretching. Circled up for…SSH’s, Dead Man Hang, Cherry Pickers, Shoulder Stretches, Arm Circles, LBC’s, Rosco’s Mom, Merkins, Wilson’s Wife and Fudd’s Wife.

The THANG – Notre Dame themed workout. Go Irish!

COP 1: Moseyed over to two parked buses and completed “7’s” in honor of Notre Dame’s seven Heisman Trophy winners.

    • (1) Merkin, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (6) Carolina Dry Docks, mosey back to Bus #1.
    • (2) Merkins, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (5) Carolina Dry Docks, mosey back to Bus #1.
    • (3) Merkins, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (4) Carolina Dry Docks, mosey back to Bus #1.
    • (4) Merkins, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (3) Carolina Dry Docks, mosey back to Bus #1.
    • (5) Merkins, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (2) Carolina Dry Docks, mosey back to Bus #1.
    • (6) Merkins, Bear Crawl from Bus #1 to Bus #2. (1) Carolina Dry Dock.

COP 2: Moseyed over to the bus loop to run some lines and learn about Notre Dame’s endzone layout. Each endzone has (9) diagonal lines (which add up to 18) at a 42 degree angle to represent the year 1842 which was the year the ND was founded.

    • Ran/side-shuffled/bernie’d up and down (9) bus lines 2x which came out to 18. Coincidentally, the lines were right around 42(ish) degrees to check that box.

COP 3: Moseyed down to the soccer fields for some true 11’s to match the number of National titles that Notre Dame football has.

    • (1) Lt. Dan, run up the hill. (10) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (2) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (9) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (3) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (8) Squats, run back down the hill.

    • (5) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (6) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (6) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (5) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (7) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (4) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (8) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (3) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (9) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (2) Squats, run back down the hill.
    • (10) Lt. Dan’s, run up the hill. (1) Squat, run back down the hill.

COP 4: Moseyed over to the football field for some cardio/ab work.

    • 100yd run and performed (9) WW2’s. #9 for YHC’s favorite ND player of all time, Tom Zbikowski.
    • 100yd run and performed (31) Box Cutters. #31 for YHC’s favorite game attended at ND stadium. ND beat Michigan 31-0.

Adding a Merkin each time around starting at 1, holding plank until next round. We did 1-9 and finishing as a PAX with 10 Merkins together.

Mosey to Start, Finished with “American Wave” LBCs, 1-9 to time.

COT with Announcements and Prayers. Build on each other, encourage each other, be there for each other. We all need a little help every once in a while! – Meatball

  • it’s not a clipboard… 📋

12 gentlemen descended the pleasant and cool grounds of tomahawk creek elementary this morning. The PAX included 11 unaware we would be doing an ironPAX workout, 2 summer tourists from north of the James, 2 wild and crazy guys who had already done a workout, and a partridge in a pear tree. YHC emerged with a light, a speaker, a white board (not a clipboard and some Q energy. 530 hit, cue up the playlist full of 80s movie soundtrack classics and we were off. Down to the track for a little warmerama followed by:

    Week 1
    4 Rounds for Time
