YHC jogged in just after the scheduled 5:30 a.m. departure to find Opus and Mr. Holland. They had no route in mind, so YHC suggested repeats of approximately 1 km around a relatively well-lit townhouse loop after an easy running warm up. We got 4 repeats in with brief walk breaks to regroup before a brief cool down jog. Opus took us out.

A Run around Kroger
8 Davillians including a FNG and four legged friend got after it for some running and rucking on Thursday morning
Route for the running including go a reverse way than normal over to Cool Spring West then running the Rutland loop reverse. Shortly after passing Bulkhead’s house we took the cut through next to the pond to get over to the Bojangles loop. Crossed over Atlee Station and ran the Kroger loop reversed before heading back to the clubhouse. Distance depending on detours by the PAX was between 4 to 4.25 miles
Ruckers did they thing with a little later start than normal getting in 3+
Welcome Cliffhanger who is a contractor friend of Corned Beef’s who shared he enjoys hiking with his kids
SPIT ON THAT!!

I’ll have the shorter distance please
Seven ambitious but realistic men posted in Rutland for yet another hot and humid morning run. Three routes were given. All would opt for the shorter distance or even modify that for less distance.
The Route
Rutland to Giles. Do the back loop into Craney Island. Run down and up the hill. Exit neighborhood onto Atlee Station. Instead of the longer Bojangles loop, run back to AO. Should have been 4.7 miles but with Craney Island mistake, was likely closer to 5. Others probably went 4 miles.

Great to have Shank out for the 2nd time this week. Many conversations this morning including the DaVille Takeover, the expansion of trails and roads in Giles, injury recovery and age, and HOA bylaws that apparently are stricter in some neighborhoods that others.

I Don’t Think We’re Alone.
Ten of F3RVA’s bravest or most foolish including a rucker and a marathon training teamer broke through the heat and humid this morning to conquer the Virginia Center hill. This is what occurred.
The Route
No Idea left from Buffalo Wild Wings at 5 AM to ruck solo. He will have to pick up onto the story from there.
Eight of us left BWW at 5:30 AM, took a left onto Virginia Center Parkway, crossed over I295, and then noticed around 50 people on Village Views Parkway having what looked like some type of early morning festival. All of them were illuminated from head to foot with reflective gear and lights and were smart enough to have a water stop. Looks like the Marathon Training Team had beat us to the hill. Oh well, instructions were given to walk or jog slowly down the hill and then pick it up going up the hill.
About the Hill on Village Views Parkway off of Virginia Center Parkway
YHC has always felt that the discovery of this route was brilliant. From BWW, it is close to 1 mile to the Village Views Parkway hill. The road is separated by a median so runners run or walk down one side of it and then run up the other side. Along the way, there are 9 light post that are equally spaced from each other. The first third of the hill has a gradual slope. It then gets steeper for the middle third. The last third is gradual but painful since all runners want to quit after reaching the top of the steep middle section. Residents who try to drive up the hill Thursday morning during the summer must hate it since there can be 50 or more MTT runners training on the hill and there is no alternate driving route to get around the hill.
One hill loop is 1/2 mile. All running PAX members did 4 or 5 hills. With the slow one mile back to the VSF, total running distance was 4 – 4.5 miles.

Great job today PAX! With the heat and humidity along with the challenge of running the hill, all PAX members performed beyond expectations. Great to see Mongoose out again after first posting last Saturday. Well done! YHC tried to keep up with Hash, but that was impossible by the last hill. For those who were not able to join us today, we will be back out at the hill between a month and 6 months from now. Stay tuned.

78 at 5:30
Eight runners and ruckers converged in the Rutland clubhouse parking lot with plans to run or ruck while trying to stay cool. With it being 78 degrees at 5:30 AM, the staying cool plan would be a challenge. Three groups took off in various directions. The Ruckers were Yardsale, No Idea, and Jinxy. The Runners were in 3 groups, Opus and Mr. Holland, Speakeasy and YHC, and Corned Beef solo. The runners did the Rutland/Cool Spring Forest/Knollwood loop. The Ruckers walked towards Atlee Road and went in some direction from there.

Today was a hot and humid day. In saying that, an F3 workout is always a sunny and 70 way to start the day. The question did come up if a VQ can occur with a run or does the VQ need to be a bootcamp? This discussion occurred as the DaVille nano-region determines the Qs for future takeovers and who will cover the DaVille AO.

F3 Names
YHC rolled up to the parking lot with his 2.0 to get this Thursday morning started off right. We see 2 vehicles in the lot (our weekly ruckers) and we stretch prior to the 5:30am Launch. 2 more roll in and we begin our run. Mr. Holland is getting back into running shape after his shoulder surgery and being cleared to start running again. YHC starts off with the mumble chatter calling out Tim and G and my 2.0 asks, ‘what happened to our F3 names?’ he was correct and we then fell back into running form. For this run, YHC and Mr. Holland do the Taylor farm loop and we stop at the 2.0 mile mark to walk for about 5 minutes, then run in front of all of the schools and walk for 5 more minutes, then run to the ruckers that were on the return to the Rutland clubhouse. We got in 4 miles for our run. Speakeasy and Hash logged in about 5 miles, (and Speakeasy ran to AO and back home from AO) so about another mile in his total count for the day. The ruckers logged in a little over 4 miles.
Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out in prayer.
It was great to see the gang this morning, have a great week. See you in the gloom soon…Cheers…CB!

Run Walk in Giles
YHC knew some ruckers would be in the middle of their workout when he rolled up to the Rutland house parking lot. Being early this am some pre-run stretching was in order. Speakeasy runs up to the lot, then Bulkhead shows up also running from home. It’s 5:30 and we are ready to roll. For this route we start with a reverse BoJangle’s route and YHC and Bulkhead stop at the bottom of the hill at Atlee library and walk up to Atlee Road, then begin to run again. We get to the bottom of the hill for the bridge over the tracks and walk up this hill. We then run to the Giles clubhouse and walk to loop intersection then run to bottom of hill andtake the trail back to the Giles clubhouse, we walk from clubhouse to top of hill. Run to bottom of hill for train tracks, walk to the top of hill then Run back to Rutland Clubhouse for 4 miles. Speakeasy ran the entire time circling back to run with YHC and Bulkhead.
We catch up with the Ruckers and walk back to Clubhouse.
Numberama, Namerama, No Idea took us out in prayer.
Always great to catch up with these guys, fun run/walk and I will see you in the gloom, Cheers…CB!

Looks like all it takes to scare most runners away is the threat of putting some muscle on those soccer arms. It was good to be back on the Q sheet and leading men again. YHC has determined that the best part of rucking is the grade A trash talking and opportunity to better get to know the PAX.
Thanks for letting me lead

Just say no… to cool springs
YHC arrived at the land of tomatoes with 4 minutes to spare. seeing 2 empty cars and no PAX, there was concern this might be a solo run, north of the river and north of the wall. Lo and behold 3 PAX rolled in hot and we left right on time.
planned route:
Take loop behind clubhouse
Follow path onto Lyndon circle
At end go right onto oakham Dr
At end take left onto Colvincrest dr
Take 2nd Left onto hughesland rd
1st right onto Codygrove Dr
At end go right on carywood Ct
At end take path on left, turns into Blakenridge Ave
Stay on for awhile, then left on Cool spring
At end go right on Atlee rd
3rd left on Halifax green
Long way to left on hunters crest ln
At end left on Janeway
Next right on Giles spring Ter
At end take path
When path ends take a left on Dewitt
At end, take left onto Atlee station rd
At end take a righ into Atlee rd
Take second left onto Combs rd
Unfortunately YHC was not aware the cool springs is not a runner friendly road. Thankfully, the locals knew better, and we audibled for the rest of the route. Still got in about 5 miles which was the most Tomato Run has done in awhile. Great job fellas!
We also had a runner, a rucker, and a runner who areived just after the start.
Numbers, names, Corned Beef took us out. Announcements: The Bridge, join slack, especially the leadership channel, join the Monday 7pm zoom call.
