The week started the right away for two runners who descended on Atlee High School parking lot in order to take off on a run that went something like this… Leave the parking lot and follow the road behind the high school around toward the entrance to the Honey Meadows neighborhood. Go through that neighborhood until the cut-through that leads to the Kings Charter neighborhood. Run on the main road until the first clubhouse and turn right. Head on that road, up the hill, turn and return the same way all the way back to the start for a total…

A PAX of two showed up to greet the returning cold and get in some running. We ran out for a while and then ran back. It was good to get back out on the trails and even better when No Idea noticed that the Low Bridge Tree had been removed, significantly lowering the chance that YHC would not get a concussion from running into a face high fallen tree. We did around 3 miles this morning.
3 Davillians climbed out of their fart sacks on a warmer but rainy Monday morning for another addition of the Tomato. This is how it when down: ROUTES YHC headed in an nontraditional way to the front of the schools, down into Honey Meadow, hit the access road to Kings Charter, headed to the front of Kings Charter, across Atlee Station down the sidewalk into Chickahominy Oak and through Summer Duck subdivisions. Back across Atlee Station to front of schools for 4 miles. Completed some parking lot sprints to get in another 1/2 mile. Mudface and No Idea headed the…
A pax of 2 dragged themselves out of bed, made the wise decision to not put on rain gear (?) and headed out for a little run. YHC and Mudface decided to test running on the cross country trail for the first time in almost a month, and quickly realized they were 0 for 2 on decisions this morning, as it proved very muddy and slippery. Called an audible, got back on the road, and meandered for a while, amounting to 3 miles in rain that went from a slight drizzle to steady downpour. Hopefully soon it will dry up…
4 Davillians decided to get some miles in before the rain came. This is how it went down: THANG YHC the lone wolf once again on the long mileage, headed to Kings Charter and back getting in 4.5 miles and finished with 5 sets of parking lot sprints. Team Headlamp headed out to Honey Meadows and back to get in about 3 miles. MOLESKIN Opus shared they had a very “interesting” conversation during their run today but didn’t share the details with YHC. Mumble chatter afterwards centered around writing a BB in Haiku. ANNOUNCEMENTS Rumor is there maybe a Dogpile…
YHC and Mudface showed up to run, ended up with a vigorous walk, as about 1 minute into the warmup both of us almost became one with the asphalt. After this was repeated several times, even YHC took the hint and slowed down and by unanimous vote it was decided the run was going to be a walk. We did see two other runners out, and Mudface warned them of the treacherous footing. Given our pace, mumblechatter was heard throughout, ranging from the Eagles victory (E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!) to our kids questionable choices (they’re smart, we’re sure of it!). All told we…
5 men gathered to test out the water proffing on their shoes. Phonics and Spit ran 5 miles, No Idea and YHC ran 3. Chum Buckets ran some of both and there is no idea (see what I did there) how many he got in. It was good seeing everyone this morning. Thanks for letting me lead
What difference a couple of weeks can make, as the temperature when YHC last did TR was 16 degrees, while this morning was a balmy 50. Mudface didn’t get the memo, as he still showed up in a sweatshirt that he couldn’t figure out how to unzip… Spit quickly passed YHC and Mudface and did the Honey Meadows loop for 5 miles. YHC and Mudface meandered through the woods and roads for about 3 miles. It was great to not have to bundle up for a workout as has been the norm for several weeks (if your name isn’t Helix),…
A PAX of one reported this morning for a cold run. 3.5 miles were done with a large dog sighting that almost initiated a mid run pants change requirement. See you all in the gloom
2 Warriors and 1 man already getting his miles in, stormed the grounds of Atlee for another edition of Tomato Run. This how it went down: Mosey to gravel track next to Chickahominy MS and Cool Spring ES. Track Intervals Going at about 75% to 80% pace the following was completed (including some moseying in between runs) 1 Mile 2 800’s 2 400’s 4 200’s Mosey back to Atlee parking lot Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out. MOLESKIN Another snow day for kids in RVA allowed Phonics to post this morning. YHC enjoyed catching up with him. No Idea got…
