  • Why is it Called Tomato Run?

5 runners and 1 rucker took on the dawn at Tomato Run this morning.

The runners started light, but Wheelbarrow joined up about a half mile in…hoping we were toting an oxygen bottle…we were not.  He eventually caught his breath and we settled in for a friendly paced bro code run.  Route doesn’t matter, but the banter was good.  Subjects covered included:

-Wheelbarrow is quickly becoming the go-to guy for brewing in F3 lately.  Sugar Sock has some experience in the brewing department as well.  Sounds like an F3 brew day is in the works.

-Vinny lives in a house that touches another house.  Several of us had bought houses at very inconvenient financial times.

-The Last Podcast on the Left could be the most awesome thing on the internet right now.  Not safe for kids!

-Vinny and Slurpee are planning a vacation soon together.  Hot tubs and long walks on the beach.  AstroGlide might come, too.  Docking station?!?  I don’t get it…

-You know you are raising your daughter at least a little right if she doesn’t get “that’s what she said” jokes.  However, I am sure I have damaged her in other ways that I will find out about when she starts therapy later in life.

-Tomato Run is thusly named due to the all around awesomeness that is a Hanover Tomato.  Also, “tomato” according to F3 is code for a female around an F3 workout…or that possibly joins in to an F3 workout.  I’ll put it in a sentence for you:  “No TYA, it is not ok to stare at the tomatoes the entire time while they work out”.

Apology of the Week goes to TYA, I hope I didn’t hurt your feeling.

  • No Idea Who Has The Q

2 Davillians arrived at Atlee this morning to continue their June Challenge with some miles. Since the Q was a no show, YHC to the lead.

YHC headed out down to the trails and through Honey Meadows. Stopping a few times to get in some Merkins and WWII sit-ups for a total of 4 miles

MudFace stayed back a little while to see if No Idea would be a LIFO then heading out on his Ruck. He got in some overtime and covered 3.5 miles

    MOLESKIN

YHC finally made it back out for a morning run in hopes to have some summer tourists present. Non took the call today so a solo run was put into place. Good to have Mudface back after his trip last week. YHC and Mudface did cross path at one point confirming No Idea’s fart sack got him today.

Next Week YHC has the Q as long as 2.0 #2 hasn’t arrived.  Vinny is planning to make a visit in hopes to see others on their summer tour come out as well.

    SPIT ON THAT!!

  • Four’s a crowd!

The roster for Tomato Run doubled this morning, as 4 hardy men skipped the fartsack and put in some miles.

Opus and EF Hutton ran for about 4.5 miles, winding through Honey Meadows (and maybe Kings Charter, YHC is unsure of their exact route).  Mudface and YHC put in a little over 3 miles, at a pretty good walking clip as Mudface continues to impress by rucking it with a 30 pound steel plate in his backpack.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

    NMS

There were a LOT of dogs walking their humans this morning, as YHC and Mudface saw at least 8-10, which is about 5 times the normal crowd for TR.  Opus showed up to celebrate his last week of work for a while, and EF Hutton is getting a jump on visiting all the AO’s this summer, with Opus close on his heels.

As usual, I have no idea what I’m doing.

  • You had to be there…

Just last night, I was reminded of
Just how bad it had gotten
And just how sick I had become

But it could change with this relationship
De-derange, we’ve all been through some shit
And if we’re thing, I think this thing’s begun
Oh, tell me now, what do I have to do
Oh, tell me now, what do I have to do
Oh, tell me now, what do I have to do
To prove my love to you?

Special favors come in 31 flavors
We’re out of mints, pass the Life Savers
I’m droppin hints, candy for candy-coated tongue

You’d be so good, so very good for me
What do you think? Tell me honestly?
I’m wait-wait-wait-waiting for you to come
Oh, tell me now, what do I have to do
Yeah, tell me now, what do I have to do
Yeah, tell me now, what do I have to do
Yeah, prove my love to you

Third verse, same as the first
Just last night, I was reminded of
Just how bad it had gotten
And just how sick I had become

But it could change with this relationship
De-derange, we’ve all been through some shit
And if we’re thing, I think this thing’s begun

Oh, tell me now, what do I have to do
Yeah, tell me now, what do I have to do
I’d do anything, what do I have to do
I’d do it all, what do I have to do
I’d do it all for you, what do I have to do
I’d do anything, I’d do it all, I’d do it all for you
I’d climb a mountain, I’d cross the ocean, I’d do it it all
Tell me now, what do I have to do to prove my love to you?

If Lab Rat apologizes in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, did he actually make a sound?

F3 RVA Summer Tour – Starts Saturday, May 26

    https://youtu.be/Xf3mRZ7SHu0

According to Phineas and Ferb, there are 104 days of summer.  What a better way to spend the summer than challenging yourself to visit all 24 F3 RVA AOs.  Although procrastinators can wait as late as August 6 to start, it would be best to spread this challenge out over the entire summer.  Once you complete the tour, you will have done the following:

    • 14 bootcamps
    • 7 runs including a trail run and evening run
    • 2 Kettle Bell workouts
    • 1 bike ride

Don’t let not having a kettle bell or bike prevent you from participating in this challenge.  Borrow them if necessary.

The challenge starts starts on Saturday, May 26 and ends on Labor Day.

    See you all this summer!

  • Phoneics and Ferbrat….with a “whatcha doin?” from Mudfaceabella

2 runners showed up on time to Tomato run to start off Opus’ takeover week?  Hmmmmmm.  1 lone walker spotted later to bring numbers up to a quasi-respectable 3.

Route and NMS:  Runners took off with no plans on a pre-determined bro-code run….aka at Lab Rat’s pace.  Ended up running thru Honey Meadows, looped around King’s Charter, then back to parking lot for about 4 and a quarter.  We spotted Mudface on the way back and took a minute to catch up and exchange pleasentries before finishing up.  Mumble chatter was thru the roof, as one can imagine with Phonics and Lab Rat at the ready.  We solved global warming, the whole North Korean mess, and where we are going to post for the next three months.

Announcement (the only one that matters)-  Ghost flag at WDog Wednesday….come get you some!

  • Black Diamond Trails

3 Davillians arrived at Atlee HS parking lot to enjoy another Monday Funday in DaVille.

This is how it went down:

    ROUTES

The Carpenter and YHC headed down Atlee service road to the cross country trail. After doubling back a few times. Turn onto the Honey Meadows trails and head down to the end of Honey Meadows Pond Dr. Head up Honey Meadows Pond Dr to gravel track for a loop before heading back to access road and HS parking lot. Total Miles: 4.5

Mudface got in late but still went out for his tradition 3 miles

    MOLESKIN

This was first time YHC  has made it back to Tomato Run since completing the Colonial 200. YHC arrived to an empty parking lot at 5:25 and to his surprise, The Carpenter came rolling in just a few minute later. YHC called for trail running today which was good change of pace. The Carpenter took notice of YHC head lamp being a Black Diamond brand and shared a story of some the trails he reminder out west that were like “black diamond” so there is your title for the BB.

It was great catching up with The Carpenter today and enjoy claim morning.

  • Leave Individually, Return Together

Four men entered the grounds of Atlee High School to start of the week with a walk or run.  They left with 3 different routes but returned together.

    The Route:

Mudface and No Idea started before 5:30 AM and walked/ran the grounds of Atlee High School.

Circle K left at 5:30 AM and walked the grounds of Atlee High School.

Phonics ran the same route as a week ago to explore King’s Charter, Honey Meadows, and the trails of Atlee High School.  Take school loop – Right onto Honey Meadows Drive.  Left onto Meadows Pond Drive.  Left into King’s Charter.  Take left onto Hopkins Branch Way.  Left onto Kings Charter Drive.  Run to Atlee Station Road.  Turn around and take Left onto Spring Ivy Lane.  Right onto Kings Charter Drive.  Left onto Hopkins Branch Way.  Run into Honey Meadows and take right.  Take left onto Honey Meadows Drive.  Run to end and take Honey Meadows Trails back to Atlee High School Trails.

All 4 men walked back to VSF together.

COT – Numberama, Name-o-rama, Circle K took us out.

    NMS

Circle K and YHC arrived just before the 5:30 AM to find that Mudface and No Idea had already left.  Because Circle K had completed his mud run marathon a few days beforre, he planned on walking the grounds of Atlee.  YHC then left for a solo run.  As YHC came back onto the grounds of Atlee High School, he saw Mudface, No Idea, and Circle K walking together just passed the football field parking lot.  YHC caught up to them and all walked back together.  This walk was a great way to end the morning run.

    Announcements

Congratulations to Circle K and his M for their completion of the trail marathon this past weekend!

There will be a change of traffic pattern at some point this week near the construction on Atlee Road/Atlee Station.   Hopefully this means that we are close to the opening of the Atlee extension which will give the Tomato Run more route options.

    Gotta Run!

  • Inspecting the trails

It was a perfect spring morning in DaVille as YHC drove into the parking lot of Atlee High School.  As YHC arrived, only No Idea was there.  No Idea said he was waiting for Mudface so they could do their 3 mile loop.  YHC then left to jog to Honey Meadows and Kings Charter.

    The Route:

Mudface and No Idea – 3 miles on the grounds of Atlee High School

Phonics – Around 5 miles. Run to end and take Honey Meadows Trails back to Atlee High School Trails and back to VF.

    NMS

YHC had hoped that several runners from Rutland would join him at Atlee this morning.  After communicating with Anchovy, it appeared that the guys from Rutland were training for their mile challenge in their neighborhood.  At this point, YHC knew he would likely run solo this morning.  He was pleased to see No Idea in the parking lot.  He did not see Mudface until 6:15 when he arrived back at the AO.  Although YHC has run the trails of Honey Meadows before, he had the goal of inspecting them closer for upcoming Qs especially with it getting lighter in the morning.

YHC is ready for the Atlee extension to be completed.  This will allow additional routes for the Tomato Run.  It appears it may be completed within the next few months.

    Phonics Out!

  • To Taper or Not to Taper

A PAX of one climbed out of his fart sack two days after completing 3 runs and 1 workout in less than 28 hours to get in a tapering run.

    This is it went down

Route: Head out of the Atlee parking lot down the service road to Honey Meadows. Loop around Honey Meadows then back up to the parking lot getting in a little over 3 miles. Complete a couple of sprint exercises and stretches.

Moleskin: Mudface texted YHC last night noting that No Idea and himself will not be posting today. YHC figure this would be a solo day and was correct. During the run YHC noticed that Mechanicsville didn’t get hit with the severe weather last night just a lot of rain. I hope the rest of the RVA PAX fared well also.

Announcement: Colonial 200 begins Friday morning at 6am in Barboursville, VA. AYE!!
