  • There are things out here

A PAX of one reported this morning for a cold run. 3.5 miles were done with a large dog sighting that almost initiated a mid run pants change requirement.

See you all in the gloom

  • Let’s Head to the Track

2 Warriors and 1 man already getting his miles in, stormed the grounds of Atlee for another edition of Tomato Run.

    This how it went down:

Mosey to gravel track next to Chickahominy MS and Cool Spring ES.

    Track Intervals

Going at about 75% to 80% pace the following was completed (including some moseying in between runs)

    • 1 Mile
    • 2 800’s
    • 2 400’s
    • 4 200’s

Mosey back to Atlee parking lot

Numberama, Namerama, YHC took us out.

    MOLESKIN

Another snow day for kids in RVA allowed Phonics to post this morning. YHC enjoyed catching up with him.

No Idea got his normal early start and completed lap with a run/walk pace.

Mumble Chatter centered the coming year for F3RVA and our kids

    SPIT ON THAT!!
  • Nomad Complete

3 early risers met the morning with gusto.  2 other pax eventually showed up, too.

Route:  5 milers meander out to King’s Charter, run down the main drag to the playground and return.  5.5 milers run same route, except miss the cut thru turn on the way back and run up to the big white house on the hill and turn back to find missed turn.  4.5 milers show up whenever they feel like it and run around the parking lot.  Walkers do their own thing.

NMS:  Lab Rat got the call from Hutton last night and gave the HC for a little Tomato run action this morning.  He informed me that Spit had the Q, so he would have company if I wanted to bail.  Nonsense!  I have been Hutton’s unofficial hype man on his Nomadic journey to touch ’em all and I wasnt about to bail now.  I showed up at 0529 to a Q-less workout, and immediately took charge of the run.  NO Idea was waiting on Mudface, who texted to let him know he was late but on the way.  Hutton and I had a nice run thru quiet neighborhoods talking about the crazy football games and what is considered a catch or not a catch in the NFL these days.

Also discussed was the penalty for missing a Q that you had signed up for, and what excuse (if any) relieved you of said missed Q.  Hutton and I picked up Spit in the parking lot to make him LIFO instead of AWOL.  Baby up all night is a pretty good excuse…but I dont know if it flies past Corporate.  Circle K and I have been known to give the old late night text when things go bad before a Q in order to make sure all bases are covered.  Just sayin’.

So EF Hutton has joined the ranks of UpChuck as the only pax members to cover all the AO’s in place to this day.  This also includes Breaking Bread for the both of them, which I consider a necessity to complete this awesome personal challenge.  GREAT JOB goes out to both of you!  That’s a lot of windshield time.

All in all, great morning for a run along with great company.

Apology of the week goes to Mudface, for suggesting you might need to lose a few lbs in your quest to win the Monument Avenue 10K.  I’m sure there’s another way to say it, but that’s not my strong suit.

    Lab Rat apologizes…

  • Dashing through the snow

YHC and Mudface were the Pax, and did our normal run/walk workout, with some trail clearing thrown in as well.  Didn’t get quite as far as normal due to this and having to slow down at times for snowy patches which had turned icy, about 3.4 miles were completed.  There was some mumble chatter about not looking forward to running in sub 30 temps, but the consensus is that since we are just smart enough to do situps, etc. in that temp running should be easy!

  • Supermoon and Meteors

3 Warriors came out to enjoy a cold but bright morning thanks to the supermoon.

For Mudface and No Idea their normal route through the woods and around Honey Meadows was taken completing a total of 4 miles

YHC who made his first appearance back to Tomato Run since the Half Marathon ran the school loop (1.6 miles) 3 times.

YHC also was treated to a small meteor shower while completing the 2nd loop.

  • Cold giblets

Two foolhardy gents in search of fitness, fellowship and freezing ventured out to run, if for no other reason than to beat back the cold.

    COP: “You have pants!”

YHC and Mudface did our usual meandering over hill and dale, and our running took on an element of just trying to warm up in the freezing temps.  YHC is sure Mudface can take it, but YHC hates the cold, it goes against my Southern Louisiana roots!  Not sure of exact mileage, but somewhere around 3.5 miles was put in.

  • We ran, yes we ran so far away…

2 Pax showed up, turned on the headlamps, and headed out.

The COP:  “You ready?”  “No”  “Okay, let’s go”

YHC and Mudface managed to crank out a little over 3 miles using our scintillating run/walk combo, while trying to pretend that we weren’t freezing our Schweddy balls off (see video).  There was mumblechatter about why YHC has failed to buy any cold weather pants, and much fun was had as Mudface shot down all of YHC’s perfectly valid reasons.

YHC hopes all of his F3 brothers, along with their M’s and 2.0’s, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Safe travels!

  • The one and only

A PAX of one showed up to run on this sunny (nope) and 70 (nope) morning to run/walk/shamble around various roads and neighborhoods near a dark high school.

    The Route

YHC went forward and turned when something got in his way for about 4 miles. Trails were too muddy for running so the access roads were used for everything. YHC is not really sure where he ended up when he turned around, but here were dogs and angry looking people.

    NMS

No Idea had the Q this morning, but a last minute call informed YHC that he would have the Q instead. Hope everything works out No Idea.

Without any responsibility to any other runners the direction that was decided on was forward for as long as possible. 50 Merkins were done at the end just because.

  • The Art of Tapering

4 Davillians arrived at various times on this warm November morning.  This how it went down:

    ROUTE

MudFace and No Idea arrived around 5:20 and heading out on their normal route. Started down the service road, through the cross country course, into Honey Meadows then back.

Grabber and YHC headed out around 5:26 at a tapering pace. Down the service road, into Honey Meadow estates, fire road into Kings Charter. Took a right onto Kings Charter Drive, turn around at Atlee Station and head back to Honey Meadow. Short run through the townhomes then back to parking lot to get in around 4.5.

    MOLESKIN

What a great morning for a run. In preparation for the half marathon this weekend, YHC is tapering this week. During the run this morning, YHC and Grabber ran into old friend the big black cat. As usual he just gave us a stare and we mosey along.

On the road back to the parking lot, YHC and Grabber ran into Mudface and No Idea. Mudface wasn’t paying attention thus got the crap scared out of him (almost literally)

Thanks to Grabber for helping YHC train over the last almost 4 months. Looking forward to crushing this race on Saturday!

  • I’m for real!

3 slightly crazy souls showed up in the gloom on a cold, rainy day to run through the suburbs and disturb the neighbors.  Here’s how it went down.

Mudface and YHC left at 5:20, early as usual, and proceeded on a modified route, as the cross country trail was initially deemed too slippery to run on after all the rain last night.  Upchuck ran us down somewhere in Honey Meadows, as he had arrived early at 5:25, waited for others to arrive and then took off in search of us after spotting our cars in the parking lot.  While Upchuck is clearly in a higher class as a runner, he decided to hang with YHC and Mudface while we did our run/walk thing.  It was good to catch up with him, as YHC’s M has known Upchuck and his M since college.

We all ran/walked along the service road behind the high school, through Honey Meadows, and then decided to test the cross country trail again, which was not too bad after all, before heading back to the parking lot.

Numberama, namerama, YHC took us out.

Good run this morning, despite the cooler weather and rain, and we apologize to residents of Honey Meadows if we woke you up, as a couple of Mudface’s comments had YHC and Upchuck laughing perhaps a bit too loudly.  YHC also had the pleasure of introducing Upchuck to the video referenced above, as there were 2 Ti-moth-ees this morning.

    Thanks again gents!
